The personnel at the help desk' seemed annoyed to answer the simplest question. Seemed like a visit to the DMV. Not only were they not courteous, they gave me the run around. Left and went to Lowes where the customer service was much better. Will ensure to tell everyone I know of the pathetic customer service at the Apex HD. Gary was , by far, the most unhelpful person I've ever met at a Home Depot! He absolutely refused to help without having people come out and make their own measurements. He wouldn't even attempt a kitchen design without that even though I already had measurements from another Home Depot. But, the Cary store was the only one with Decora cabinets. Why should Home Depot care if Tammy and Gary just screwed themselves out of $35,000 in business??? read more

My DH swore to never shop here again after having a bad experience trying to get some help loading drywall into his truck, but I still sometimes sneak over if I can't find what I'm looking for at Lowe's! They do carry a lot of the same things, but in some cases one or the other will have a wider selection of particular items. This was the case for me recently when I was shopping for faucets. They had very few in the Lowe's store, but HD had a pretty good selection. I also found this fall when buying Mum's that HDs prices were about half of those at Lowe's for them! read more

Oh home depot. I love the garden center here, so much better than lowe's. This place is huge. It can be challenging to find help in this gargantuan store but the employees here are very nice. I forgot what pliers were called one time and when I described it, a very nice guy helped me find some. That said, I find their prices here to be ridiculous! If you are a DIYer, this is a nice store for it. It's a good place if you have that project for school they would be more that able and willing to help you with it. The employees there are knowledgable and very pleasant. The store manager Jonathan Pritchard is the first store manager of a store I actually saw on the floor working alongside other employees there. Didn't even know he was the manager! Usually they're in a back office or something working behind a desk. I'll definitely will visit again just because of that. read more

We were out looking for a tool set, and after looking at lowes we decided to check out Home Depot. We found a 200 piece husky mechanic tool set with $69.98 written on it. Assuming this was the price, we went to check to make sure it was correct. The women at the register was SO rude, rolling her eyes and making us feel stupid. It took multiple managers and finally got it approved after the hassle. Before we leave, I went to homedepot.com and find it for $49.99. We asked for a price adjustment, where we then had more eyes rolling at us. The women at the register, right Infront of me..told her manager not to do it because " they are annoying me". You would think the manager would care? No. He sent us to customer service to finish, knowing we would have to re-explain the entire situation. Worse customer service, stick to lowes! read more

This is probably the rudest store I've ever walked into in my life. First of all, after waiting about 5 minutes for someone to even come back to the counter we waited behind 3 people. Waiting in line was not the issue. However, once we were finally greeted we were then promptly ignored so that what I believe is a regular could be helped first, even though we were here first. After coming back to us he was a pompous and co mAfter getting though waiting and being talked down to, we finally got to the point where our paint could be mixed. Mixing took way too long as that regular from the beginning got helped first and even made phone calls with the employee. I should have left and gone to the Lowes across the street. read more

Home Depot has done major projects for me in the past and they always went great. So when I decided to replace my floors I turned to them again. However, after I paid for the materials I had reservations about the install company they use because their reviews are bad. I called the store to speak with the installation coordinator, Latonya, about my doubts. She had an immediate attitude becaue I was asking questions then proceeded to tell me she has been doing her job for 10+ years so there was nothing to be concerned about (as if she was personally coming to install my floors). Turns out my apprehension against the installer was unfounded as they showed up on time, were polite and professional. Who I should've avoided was Latonya along with her bad attitude and incompetence. The install was delayed due to materials being ordered incorrectly and subcontractors (ie. Plumber) not being scheduled at all. While the installers were at my house I repeatedly called Latonya to find out when the plumber would be coming to remove my pedestal sink/toilet then come back to re-install it. After a day of unreturned calls and the installers not being able to go any further I showed up at the store for answers. Latonya refused to come speak with me instead calling me on my cell phone, while I was in the store. On day two the plumber showed up to remove the sink/toilet but the installer had already pulled them up to avoid delaying their work anymore. When I questioned the plumber about coming back to re-install they said that service was not ordered (another screw up as I was definitely charged for it by HD). At this point I called the store to speak with the manager but was instead transferred to an assistant manager named Karen. She seemed helpful but by lunch I hadn't heard back from her so I called the store again. Karen refused to get on the phone, sending a message via an employee that Latonya was off and would get with me the next day to schedule a plumber. Get back with me the next day?!!! I had a sink/toilet sitting in my living room and was due to go back to work the next day!! Utlimately the head store manager had to get involved and sent the plumber out the same day. However, because materials were underordered by HD the installer still had to come back a week later to finish some small items. Basically these people do not care that they are receiving thousands of dollars for services. I will not let HD do another installation for me and for someone who has 10+ years experience as a flooring coordinator Latonya sucks! Save yourself the time and aggravation by going with a real flooring company. read more

Just a friendly warning to anyone that thinks using Home Depot's "skilled" contractors and installers is a good idea ... it isn't. Not only are they NOT skilled, they are unprofessional, belligerent and just outright lazy. They do what they do, regardless of whether it's right or not, and you will never hear from them again. As for Home Depot, it appears they have no control over them at all and will engage in a endless back and forth, inane attempt to contact them which will go on for months. These so-called "contractors" know that they will always have work as long as Home Depot doesn't give a flip and keeps farming out their customers to them. SO ... if you're thinking about replacing that storm door with a new Anderson or upgrading your windows, do yourself a big favor and go to a REAL store that carries Anderson. It may cost you a couple of bucks more but believe me it is SO worth it. read more

We recently had Home Depot install new dual pane vinyl windows on our house. The price was very reasonable, we got the 2 years interest free financing and the process was quick, seamless and the installers did a great job, they were friendly and quick. We received email project status reports letting us know what phase of the project we were in. The quality of the windows, the quiet they provide (our house is near a freeway and railroad track) and the installation are superb. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because despite carefully masking off their work area, they still left a pretty large sliver of glass on the carpet near one windows where they had to break it out, which I only saw because it reflected light. If I had little kids or animals, this could have been a major injury problem. read more

Why I went to Lowes instead. -How I was encouraged to find something online and assumed I was incapable within 3 minutes of walking in. Just got done trying to find parts to build an outdoor shower for my mother's beach camper and I was failed by the staff here at Home Depot. I was asked by a lady working if I needed help which is surprising bc that has never happened to me here before. I was near the gardening entrance and when I told her what I was trying to build she immediately seemed skeptical it was something Home Depot has. She let me know shower heads were in the bath section (we started walking) and when I said I also needed a water hose she looked at me like I was stupid and said "well now that's in the gardening section". Duh. That's why I was near it. So she showed me the shower heads and grabbed the closest clueless young white guy to tell me an anecdote about how I can find what I need in Shallotte at another hardware store. -_- or online. He seemed very convinced I wouldn't be able to find what I needed there, even though we hadn't moved away from the shower heads. I grabbed a cheap plastic shower head and said it could be made from pvc pipes and could he point me in the direction. Then he said, but you'll have to make it yourself. I wish I had been quick and said "you mean the woodling creatures won't assemble one for me?" He definitely said it a way that meant he didn't think I had it in me. Well apparently Home Depot didn't have it in them bc without 1 part I needed that they didn't have I have to go across the street to lowes. I was in the pvc area about 10 min looking for the piece I needed while some older man working there reshelved some inventory right beside me, and he never asked if I needed help. The customer service here is dismal and the employees don't have a creative bone in their bodies. Update- I got what I needed from Lowes. There will be a working outdoor shower this weekend, that I made myself. read more

Went to the Home Depot to special order a part from Kidde. I had previously spoken to a Kidde representative about the part and they said I could order it from Home Depot. In fact there is even mention on the Home Depot website comments from the Kidde representative about specifically ordering this part - 001819. The part isn't available normally on the Home Depot website. When I went to the Home Depot customer service representative, all she did was put the part number in their public website and said they didn't carry that part. I tried to explain it had to be specialty ordered from Kidde but it seemed like it was too much trouble for her to investigate it. She apologized but it was the tone that was she did that sarcasm rang clear. read more

This is about the special order department. Spent hours at the store, twice, placing custom orders for 2 exterior doors and 2 storm doors. Went through all the specs of everything they wanted. It took more than 6 weeks for the doors to come in, and we were not kept updated on why it took so long. They said they had to wait until everything was in before they could schedule the install. When they finally scheduled the install and came to do it, they didn't actually check to make sure everything was in and they only sent us one set of hardware for two doors. When we called, they didn't apologize, and gave us a whole thing about how we'd have to supply deadbolts, which nobody had mentioned to us in the hours that we spent at the store ordering our doors. But that was a separate issue and they literally sent a door with no doorknobs, handles, anything. They said they'd send a refund for the hardware they didn't deliver, but I had to call back two weeks later to ask what was going on, barely an apology or acknowledgement of what had happened. Still not resolved, 3 months after the initial door order. I spent $5K on this order and install. Definitely going somewhere else next time. read more

This is specifically for the Cabinet department. I am in the process of doing some pretty major renovations at home, so I figured I would get an estimate for roofing and cabinets/countertops from Home Depot. I must first say the experience with the roof estimate was really positive, but the experience with cabinets/countertops was so bad, I have to reconsider doing any business there at all. The first time I went in they could not even provide any information at all because Gary had just left. So the young woman set up an appointment for me. I arrived about 10 minutes early and watched as he was going into great depthwith a walk in customer over granite countertops. Then it was my turn, for my scheduled appointment. He acted like he really didn't want to help me and reluctantly showed me the different manufacturer's. I asked for a ballpark estimate for some, showing him my dimensioned layout and explaining that the one side was a peninsula. He never even asked me about countertops just pointed to where they were. He gave me an estimate that was based on no range location on the base, cabinets all over the top (including the sink and peninsula. I pointed that out and he stated I was incorrect. Hello, I can do math. Then told me that I needed to pay $100 for his guys to come out and measure my kitchen. I think with a PE and having sucessfully completeing 3 survey classes, I can get dimensions for my kitchen. He never asked about appliances and finished by saying "do I need to start a file on this". I am looking to gut my kitchen, redo my roof, repaint the exterior, all new flooring throughout. Home Depot just lost my business. You can thank Gary. read more

This review should probably be about Home Depot Hot Water Heater Installation advertisements and contracts not this specific store in general as they did what they could in dealing with the central 1-800 number that needs to be called to schedule hot water heater installations using their installers. I am writing this as someone who tried to use Michael & Sons Services as a contract installer for a Home Depot purchase I made of a hot water heater. The Home Depot webpage and signs posted on every bin at the Home Depot store said that hot water heater installations are made within 24 hours and there is free delivery of the hot water heater within 30 miles. I called the web page posted customer service number to schedule the installation and received a confirmation number and was told that Michael & Sons would call me the following morning. Having received no call by 11:00 am I called them. I was told that the earliest they could come for an estimate, not installation, was in 6 days not the 24 hour installation advertised by Home Depot. In addition they said they would charge an additional $100 above the minimum installation charge of $450 (it would most likely be more after the estimate) to pick up the hot water heater I purchased at Home Depot and deliver it. I asked about the policy of 24 hour installation and free delivery and was told it was not in their contract. I am told they have the installation contract with Home Depot for all of NC so beware if you think you are going to get free delivery and 24 hour installation as advertised. I will use another plumber who is cheaper and can install the hot water heater within 2 days and also warranties their work and is A rated with Angie's List. So much for trying to use Home Depot installers! read more

Very disappointed in the staff. It was hard to even find someone to ask a question, but when we finally did, she seemed annoyed that we were bothering her. Got up to the cashier and asked if she could look up a product we found online to see if it was in store. She typed in the SKU but apparently didn't know how to work the system and told us we would have to talk to someone else. The cashier lines were slightly busy so we decided to just purchase the items we did manage to find. We had brought reusable bags. I don't expect cashiers to check for reusable bags, so it's no big deal that she started putting our items into plastic bags. But I politely told her that we had our own bags. So she proceeded to scan our items and hand them to me to bag myself. She actually had to reach over our bag in the cart to hand the items to me but refused to put the items in the bag herself. I had enough of the store at that point so I just did it so I could get out of there. I really don't expect much but it would be nice if staff would do their minimum job and answer questions and bag the sh*t that I am buying. We usually go to Lowes across the street but figured we'd try Home Depot. Never again. read more
