You only go to Home Depot because you have to due to connivence or an emergency. Their problems are systemic and consistent with every Home Depot I've ever been to. All the employees ignore you and stand there chatting with other employees. You're lucky to get rude service ,if any. Go to Menards. Their service and technical knowledge are top notch and the experience you receive is completely opposite of Home Depot. Menards will even walk you to exactly where your product is located. What's amazing is Menards service is consistent throughout all their locations and credit to them for being great stewards. Menards doesn't fall into stereotypes either - their female employees are just as whip smart about plumbing, electrical, etc as their male employees. Go Menards! read more

This review is for the exemplary help and service I received Friday evening April 5 during a quick shopping trip. My loved began to experience a health crisis that required medical assistance. A customer came my aide notifying a gentleman that was on staff, it was about 9pm. That staff member flew into action! He was offering necessary help, called paramedics and calmly chatted with me until help arrived. Once paramedics arrived and began their on scene assessment, the gentleman stayed close by offering additional help. It was an unfortunate situation but it happened at The Home Depot location where staff and customers were responsive and helpful and my loved one was able to get on scene attention and walk away. I am forever grateful to their kind souls. The service of the employee (and the customer, that waited until help arrived) was above and beyond. I would not recommend shopping at this Home Depot store. On two separate occasions I have purchased an item in the store and set up a home delivery and when it came time for my item to be delivered my item was no where to be found. The store sold the same item twice. The first time this happened. I purchased an outdoor door in the store and set up an home delivery and installation. When the delivery/installation person arrived at the store to pick up the door, the door was no where to be found. The store clerk informed the delivery/installation person that the door that I already purchased at been sold again. By this time the door I originally purchased was no longer in stock and back ordered. I had to get a completely different door in a different color, and my installation was pushed back several weeks. The second time just happened today. I purchased a new grill in store to be assembled and delivery in time for the Memorial Day weekend. The night before delivery I received a delivery confirmation text. Shortly after I got a call from the store clerk stating that they no longer had the grill that I already paid for and they had to order a new grill that I would not receive until after the holiday weekend. They informed me that I could purchase the upgraded model to be delivered. Why would I purchase a more expensive grill because the store double sold the first one. I will no longer be shopping here. Since twice ( in two different departments) the store has double sold my purchase, this appears to be a pattern. This is unacceptable! read more

Four people working directly in the paint area - I waited until they were done checking in with one another - I asked about the different finishes - she pointed to them. I had questions about the paint kinds and the person working would not help. So I walked over to select what I needed..... And the experience got worse..... I do not trust that the paint provided will be what I ordered. The top of one of the cans is already damaged and the tops are covered in black residue. What a fracking joke. Not to be confused with The Ho Depot, which is where I found Barbie! Sorry. It's where she found me actually. This is a big box Home Depot located in the big mall in the south west corner of the loop of Chicago. I really like it here in the loop of Chicago but it's not the best place for shopping centers. At least this one is a bit of out of the way of all the traffic so that it's not too bad getting in and out of here, as with North Bridge or Water Tower or 900 Michigan and so on, but it does mean a lot of the stores are not the normal common expected design so you might find a little bit of a difference between this and the usual Home Depot stores. Service is okay and prices are fairly standard but the selection and design of the store are completely different and much less extensive. read more

Home Depot associates are pretty amazing! I was trying come in a purchase a ready made sandbox just to find out that those items were online only. I was not to be defeated and my kids were expecting a sandbox. After a couple meaningful conversations with the store team, we found a solution that could work. But to ensure the sand was protected in my backyard against all weather required making a wood lid for the box. Luckily I had a great associate available to assist me with choosing the right wood and making the cuts. By assist, I mean he did it all and the result is amazing! Well, this has been the most unproductive Home Depot visit I've ever experienced! I guess the whole store shuts down 45 MINUTES to an hour before closing?? They told me that they couldn't mix my paint due to closing soon. Not to mention, they proclaimed "WE WILL BE CLOSING IN..." every 2.5 minutes. Annoying!! I heard you the first 3 dozen times! After being denied PPG - Parchment Paper paint I proceeded to go down the ventilation aisle. WHY is there a male employee standing there watching my mother and I converse about which one to purchase. YES, purchase. Whilst being watched in a store, my business never seems appreciated. I'll go elsewhere with more hospitality, no blatant rudeness, and better work ethic as a whole. I will NEVER patronize this location again. Please keep in mind, they locked all the doors and customers couldn't get out. I will attach pictures below; it took three people to get the doors open upon exit. WHAT!? **P.S. if you like being followed in a store with little to no help, NOT A SOUL addressing you when you come in, and an annoying ass sound track every minute, and almost having to break doors down to leave when basically BEING ASKED TO LEAVE the entire experience. read more

We went to go see the carpet at the flooring department and Hope, the flooring specialist was excellent. She took her time to find the product of carpet we needed for a quote and installation. When I was buying paint, Alice patiently explained to me what kind of paint I bought, because I didn't understand at all when I bought it for the first time. The service was very good. She was very patient. , and a staff member named Deon H helped me solve the problem, and a staff member named Mario Villalobos answered my questions very patiently, because I bought a shelf that needed to be cut, and he patiently followed up with I said that if you are not sure, you can ask them to help you cut it. Ordered a dishwasher that went on back order days before a scheduled delivery date, then arrived broken, then was noted to be broken morning of before delivery the time after, and on the 4th s he duped delivery it was delivered only to be noted to be leaking on installation. I was shopping for paint supplies and Kyle was so very patient and helpful. I was able to stay in my budget by buying paint that had been reduced due to return. Thank you so much because paint is sooo expensive. To add to my really Great shopping experience I was directed to the Manager Angelina who assisted me futher by helping me get a better price for an partially used item. Thank you so much Angelina for your help. The only downside to my experience was I was initially parked in the garage and the escalator and elevator was out. I'm a senior and going down is ok, but that's too many stairs to go up, especially when carrying heavy items like gallons of paint. Fortunately, I came downstairs and saw a person pulling out one of the spaces in front of the store and I was able to get it. So, everything worked out. Overall. This store has the nasty group of people working for this company. I2/21/19. I spent 40 mins trying to get answers and purchase a kitchen base cabinet. First I asked for assistance to be called by the women in flooring. They didn't want to help. So I went to ask for it from customer service, they peppered me we questions before I able to ask mine. Then I finally got help from someone who just clocked in and when he did a computer search, could not spell unfinished. Nor did he know how to use the search engine. So, I finally figured out what I needed. Went to order it but had a question about renting the vans. Each person I spoke with seemed to be in a state of "I work here but please don't bother me". I don't write negative reviews, but if I did, I would have complained about the North Avenue Home Depot. I needed help carrying some wood and multiple people told me that it wasn't their job and I needed to find someone else. I waited 15 minutes until two guys grudgingly assisted me. At South Loop, they were also understaffed, so their cashier, Richard Lam, stepped up and offered to help me with wood. Admittedly, he wasn't an expert in lumber, but he was a natural in customer service. He kindly helped me inspect tons of wood and carry it to the car. It was a brutally hot day and he offered me some water. A colleague told him to take a break, and he refused until our job was done. The only time he paused, was to help other customers with English translations. What an all around asset! After we loaded up my truck, I offered Richard a tip for his help and hospitality, but he graciously refused. I wish that all Home Depot locations had the same quality customer service that Richard showed me yesterday. Thanks Richard! read more

I ventured here on a rainy Saturday afternoon this past weekend, looking for a few houseplants. My car is not cooperating right now, so I took the bus over to this neighborhood location. Before I started shopping, I asked about delivery to my residence. The Customer Service person said that Home Depot did indeed offer delivery, then turned away to stare longingly into her computer screen. After I'd made my selections and placed them in my cart, the cashier at checkout said they did not offer it. She had a glaringly obvious look of disdain on her face when she saw that I was approaching her register with my shopping cart full of plants, and offered no greeting or welcome. She just looked at me, frowned and started scanning, then sent me back to the Customer Service desk to set up delivery. Once there, a second person said they did not offer delivery, before abruptly changing her story and saying that they did...but would not deliver "live plants (I had purchased two large, and three small house plants)." Each time, it felt like you were bothering someone for asking the question, and just being passed around because people really didn't know and didn't want to genuinely assist. And, although there were security guards posted at every entrance and exit, some smiling, others looking miserable, no one asked to see a receipt as I exited the store with my loaded cart. Uber ultimately came to the rescue, and all is well again in the peaceable kingdom. read more

Went here yesterday to grab a tree stand and other things for my apartment. Ended up leaving with the cutest little Christmas tree! The guy in the garden department (I wish I grabbed his name) was so damn helpful it was refreshing. The tree I wanted wasn't wrapped so he wrapped it for me and trimmed the bottom so it wouldn't look wonky haha. Super nice dude. I was going to write this review on Home Depot's page. But they made it hard for new accounts to post a review. Was at Home Depot earlier today looking at flood lights. One of the worker named Anthony came over and asked if I needed help. I asked about a certain light and he starts listing all the lights that might work with my application. The light I needed was not on display but was on the upper shelve. He helped me get the light down. Overall he was very helpful, I probably would've left Home Depot without the light I needed, because it wasn't on display. Good and helpful employees are hard to find, Anthony is definitely one of them. read more

I haven't been to every section here, but they come through pretty nicely when you need them. The people in the power tools section have been helpful, and the ones who helped me find the moving items (cardboard boxes, shrink wrap, etc.) were helpful, too. The best experience I've had here was when I needed to get a few copies of a key. The key station is near the front of the store by the returns/customer service counter, and they were really fast and helpful when I needed it. The parking upstairs is pretty convenient, too. read more
