Well, had a night and day experience here with two different workers that would lead me to rate one…read morefive stars and one zero stars. There's a solid selection of material you'll need for most general home upkeep. Prices are really fair compared to Home Depot and Menards. I called ahead and spoke with the friendly worker, who even saved what I needed at the front for my first stop there because it was such a rush. It's an easy to access place and dogs are welcome! I left really pleased with this place and had it on my mind for a second project. The second time I visited... oof. When I asked about an issue and showed photos about potential materials to buy, I was told to have someone come out and pay for it because I didn't "look or sound excited about my project. He was very crass and told me I wouldn't understand what he was "so easily" speaking to me. So there's that. If I know what I'm needing and have no doubts, I'll definitely come back here. If I have doubts, I'll be hesitant to ask based on who's working that day.

I went to their annual garden sale which has a lot of flowers and plants discounted during Mother's Day weekend. I would say that they did have a very good selection and the prices were moderate for the goods that they had. Prices tended to be slightly more expensive than Home Depot or Lowe's but here not easier to get in and out. I was able to get some herbs for my patio and also some flowers for my english garden. Also was able to get some potting soil to assist with nurturing my plants for the season. Overall very nice store, very clean and employees were friendly. Only reason that it is a 4 star and not a 5 star, is because there were no prices for any of the Flowers. I was constantly asking the workers what the prices were on the plants. In a prime situation it would just be easier to have some type of signage for the amount that they are charging for the plants and flowers. This location has parking. A lot easier to get to this than some of the bigger hardware stores. I noticed that inside they have everything you could need for the outside and inside of your home. If you just need cleaning supplies or charcoal or plumbing this is a good option.

The staff is knowledgeable and willing to help however they can. They actually pick up their phone so you can call in advance to confirm they have what you need. Anytime I need something for a home repair I instantly think of Kim's Hardware. They have the majority of what you need for basic repairs. They also have a large selection of luggage (big and small). They even offer window screen repair services. I needed to get my screens replaced for a few years and I finally visited Kim's Hardware and they were able to make the repairs in a few days. They also made sure the screen color remained the approved HOA color. My screen repair was reasonably priced.

Thankfully I asked for a receipt. 1 day later, after working on the project some of the items I purchased were not the correct screws. It was then I noticed multiple and I mean almost several small extra charges of 1 cent to10 cents back to back on my receipt. These charges had no explanation. They were clearly malicious made up charges to make extra money off me. It was the son and dad thst overcharged me. I remember who was at the counter. I returned to Kims hardware to not only get the correct items but also to be refunded for the extra charges. I spoke to the son and father and I represented myself with great politeness, respect and professionalism towards them. They did NOT return the favor. I mean wow, they got really nasty towards me. Rude, very loud, and disrespectful. The son was the one who over charged me in the 1st place. The father was at first going to give me my refund but was a bit hesitant. Their was a slight language barrier but he was still really grumpy about it and then he got his son over instead of giving me the 2bucks and they both double teamed me for 5-7m straight. Tried making me feel stupid and using my age against me as many people think im 21yrs old. The son mentioned my education, why am I making a big deal over two bucks, no refunds allowed. Tried saying that I should've mentioned it when it happened and it's too late. That it was probably taxes or fair charges. When I started mentioning im a manager at a retail store, I know what chicago taxes are down to the exact number and I stated my age and my father being a tradesman, their confidence started to buckle. I also stated the law, the better business bureau, started to break down the receipt and what I actually bought and showed the same products on the shelves and what they cost and proved I was given hidden extra charges. After about the 6th minute of them quite literally belitting me, yelling at me and being mean and me holding it down and mentioning this is illegal the father threw the 2 bucks or so down at the table and started speaking in his native tongue to his son complaining. I told them multiple times to just do the right thing. Whats fair and just. Why argue and be mean. The son didnt care about any of that. I truly wish I wrote this review when it was fresh because I recall the son saying very specific mean things to me. They did all of this while customers were in the store and co workers were watching. As I prepared to walk out a worker that was listening apologized I had to go through that and said, "you're not the first person they did that to. Its happened multiple times. People getting overcharged, wanting to exchange or refund things. They try denying it and get all rude and mean". It's a shame really because my 1st day their was pretty chill. The asian dude with the long hair seemed nice to me when I first went there and helped me find my items even though they were the wrong items and he did not understand my issue when presented. The son who at the time had a shaved or bald head and the father are both nickle and dimers. Be wary. Check your receipt before leaving. Take your time and do the math. Someone should audit these guys. I'm pretty sure they are breaking a few laws and im pretty sure the IRS would love to take a look at them. First of all, I have to confess to being a great fan of Kohler products. I have purchased items…read morefrom them for over the past 30 years - everything for the home from the kitchen, to the bathrooms, the family room, and basement. I love their designs and innovation, their products are well-made, and even though sometimes they break down over time, they are usually reliable - albeit expensive. So when we realized that we needed to do a remodel on our master bathroom, we were confronted with several decisions - (1) budget for a full remodel? (2) a partial remodel with the exact products we needed? (3) could it be done within a particular timeframe or put this off until next year? We did some research and discovered that the "Kohler Signature Store by Studio41" was the only place near us that carried the entire Kohler line and staff that focused exclusively on their product who could offer suggestions, guidance, and information that we needed to make an informed decision. At Studio41 we met Alicia Schafer, a Senior Designer, who immediately assessed our needs, took the time to show us designs, introduce concepts and ideas that would complement our home while offering the best value, as well as address concerns about purchasing a package for a full remodel or phased construction. Given the availability and design of certain Kohler products, we were able to determine that the phased approach would better suit our needs. Alicia was very knowledgeable, patient and considerate in helping us make our choices. She addressed technical issues pertaining to a particular product and how it may have aligned with our situation by doing the research and providing us with the correct specifications. She did not speculate, ensuring that everything was in order and as advertised. We made our decision, placed the order and she offered to help in any way she could, aside from notifying us once our order arrived. She provided us an approximate window of when the products would be delivered. After several weeks our order finally arrived. Alicia worked with us to have the items delivered on time, which arrived well packaged, secured and labeled, on a pallet and placed in a convenient place for our contractors to access them. Now, this is where things get tricky: Our contractor, inadvertently installed the drawer pulls on our vanity cabinet incorrectly. We determined that he did this because Kohler included only "short" screws with the drawer pulls that would only accommodate single-wall drawers rather than the separate drawer-fronts on this Kohler model. This particular placement would eventually cause a misalignment and drawer- front failure because the stresses of use are placed only on the drawer front and not on the drawer. We also discovered that an optional vanity cabinet drawer that we ordered would not fit - not because of the design of the drawer itself, but because the plumbing in our home adhered to a building code that configured the drain in a manner contrary to products that comply with a more modern code. We contacted Alicia, told her of the problem, which she understood and offered a complete refund once the item was returned to Studio41. On the day we returned the drawer, Alicia happened to be there. She immediately processed the returned item and had it credited to our account. It was at that point we raised the issue about the drawer-fronts. She was incredulous that the wrong screws had been included with the drawers and there were some concerns about the competence of our contractors. Nevertheless, after we discussed this issue at some length, we realized that we were at an impasse: Who is responsible? The customer? Studio 41? The contractor? Is Kohler responsible for not including the proper hardware? Would this require the full replacement of drawer-fronts and hardware? Alicia, after some discussion with Zack(?), offered to replace the drawer-fronts on six (6) vanity cabinet drawers and include the correct sized screws. She stated that they would place the order and they would arrive in a reasonable period of time. We received the replacement drawer fronts within a matter of a couple of weeks. To be clear, Alicia and Studio41 could have stuck by the "corporate" line, maintained that Kohler was not responsible, that our contractors should have used better judgment and acquired the correct sized screws before attempting to install the drawer pulls. But they recognized our frustration and that perhaps Kohler personnel failed to include screws for the drawer pulls that were required for that drawer design. We appreciate the professionalism and understanding displayed in an unusual situation in which - at least this time - full consideration was given to the customer, their happiness, and satisfaction over what could have been a standard response of "buyer beware". Kudos to Studio41 and Alicia Schafer! We will be making future purchases and recommendations!
