My hubby just came home and said the workers are clueless. He asked the kid where finishing nails where - and he had a blank stare . He needed a glass cut for a window , lucky before he left he asked the kid to make sure it fits the frame- sure as day it was a 1/4" off . The experience was awful !! We walked inside with a part and asked one of the 3 guys for help who were just standing around doing nothing this was on 8/12 at 1:00pm And my friend and I were just ignored. For being a small business this is not good service and very not welcoming. As for selection can't tell you as we were ignored yet again when asking a question. This "Ace Hardware" also repairs lawn mowers and snow blowers. I just had them repair my Toro snowblower which was not starting up, now it works perfectly. They also have spray paints because they are a suburban shop, plus the usual array of tools and supplies. Last summer I bought a Griddle from here, still works good. read more

Unprofessionalism with some of the staff. Staff member was not paying attention while operating a forklift in the parking lot and almost struck a vehicle by reversing quickly and not seeing the vehicle driving through the lot. Upon the customer confronting the staff member about almost strking his vehicle, another staff member started yelling and swearing at the customer. Very unprofessional. Also why is staff stacking pallets in the middle of the parking lot and obstructing access to parking spaces in the middle of the day? If they are getting inventory it seems like that should be done after hours when there are no vehicles and/or pedestrians in the lot to keep everyone safe from someone that is not paying attention. read more

This location isn't the closest to my house, but I'll stop here on my way from my hair cut in Park Ridge because of the great customer service, and the check out experience is not as crazy as the Home Depot near my home. I had picked out some items to fix an issue I had, and when I asked the employee if what I had would fix the issue, I was told that it would not and was shown a cheaper solution. Just the other day, I hear a guy walking in saying that a suggestion that the same employee gave him to fix his plumbing made him a happy, and returning customer. The employees seem eager to help you, and you aren't stuck hitting a button and waiting forever for help. Worth checking out and seeing if you experience the same excellent service. read more

Horrible experience with delivery! I purchased a grill from this location because they deliver. Experience in store was fine, was told the store would reach out the day after purchase to coordinate delivery. They reached out and inquired to my availability the following day, Monday. I told them I would be home Wednesday and Friday. The man said he didn't know if he could accommodate those days, and asked me about Tuesday. My daughter is home for the dinner so I told him she would be home. He acknowledged this and there was no follow up after that. Got voicemail at 1 pm Tuesday to say grill was going to be delivered. Called back at 1:30 to let me know they were arriving in minutes. Told them my daughter would be waiting for them. They told my daughter the Grill would not fit through back gate, or front gate though she said they never measured front gate opening(it's several inches wider than back gate). They asked about using my garage to get through and my daughter told them it could not accommodate pass through but they could bring the grill in my front door and walk through to my back porch and deliver it that way. Driver said it was not possible and "against policy?" I took a call to speak to the driver and was told either they leave it in my garage and I figure out how to get it onto my deck, or they take it back and I can the pick it up at the the store and transport it to my house. The reason I bought this grill to be assembled and delivered is because I have a genetic neuromuscular disease that affects my arms and legs and therefore my ability to lift and move things and fine motor skills. I went there today looking for a part for a ice maker and I looked on my own for the part, but I couldn't find it . I then saw a Red shirt helping a Polish speaker about some item and then another Red shirt with a clipboard joined, they were shooting the breeze for about 5 minutes as I stood by, when they broke up everyone went in different directions, the first red shirt starting walking towards the front and I asked him nicely"Where to I find this piece for a icemaker "and he pointed towards me and said back aisle and turn left and continued on his way.Well I started looking there and could not find anything so I went back up to the plumbing aisle and looked there to no avail, I was so pissed, there was no one at the back counter so I said to a nearby customer,"Where is all the help ?"and he said,"They have a good Ace around Foster and Harlem.That was it I'm out of here and as I was leaving the store ,I still didn't see anymore store help. It bothered me a lot to see a gray pickup truck with the sign "Norridge Ace Hardware" on the tailgate, racing on the expressway with a dog in the bed in back. Saw him first on the Kennedy around Cumberland, then he flew by me a while later on 294 southbound around Irving Park. They had one and the woman checked with the manager Larry. It qualified for the sale. I asked the price she explained $399.00. I said the website says $329.00; she put me on hold and asked the manager. She came back to the phone and said it was incorrectly tagged at $399.00 and they'll sell it at $329.00 with the 22% off. I went to the store the night manager was there with the two women at the cash wrap and they remembered over hearing the conversation. The night manager called the day manager Larry and He explained that it is $399.00 plus the discount. I again said no, I was told different and the manager would not call Larry again. Long time customer will not shop there again. I did learn that they overprice items that are listed on their corporate website & they don't commit to their commitments. Fail. I picked up an online order and they gave m a receipt on green and white lined computer paper with the perforated and holed edges. Ha! They have a decent selection of your basic hardware store stuff. I can always find the light bulbs I need and miscellaneous nuts and bolts. They will take used light bulbs for recycling too. Bonus! read more

by far the worst ace i have ever dealt with.went sat jan26 22 for furnace air filters after 20 mins of employees looking for 16 by 25 told they were out of stock.this is not the first time incidents like this have happened.then after purchasing an item for 11.04 i paid with 12.00 but instantly found 4 cents in my pocket.the cashier said to late as she closed the register drawer.i said i would wait until she rang up the next customer to which she said she would not take the change for the dollar bill. i could not believe that.since this new ownership has taken over this ace has gone downhill.i immediatly went to home depot and saved myself over 15 dollars on just the winter salt alone which was almost 4 dollars more a bag of the same exact item. read more

Been a customer for 45 years, been happy with the service. Believe they have new owners for last year or two. Was there 3 weeks ago to buy grass seed and soil, 2nd or 3rd time that week. Grass seed is inside soil is outside. I paid for both and left to go get the soil. An associate came up to me in the parking lot and accused me of stealing the grass seed. I then had the receipt in hand and he said nothing, not a sorry, nothing. Went home and wrote aletter to the store explaining my displeasure. An associate called me and with a unenergentic sorry, wanted me to understand the circumstances at the moment. Register problems,new system. Don't see what that had to do with me being falsely accused of stealing . I will never shop there again. Need to have training on customer service with their associates. read more

Just moved nearby and with the Super Bowl blizzard, my snow blower decided not to cooperate. I searched nearby and found this Ace in Norridge, made 4 early morning phone calls to them and a MIRACLE, Bill came out to pick up my snow blower about 30 minutes after I called. How amazing is that? I feel like this store is like the "old Marshall Fields", what fabulous people on the phone, Elisa answered about 10 questions for me, so sweet and nice. I just got home from the Norridge Ace, and had to write a review. Being one of the bigger Ace Hardware stores allows them to have a wonderful selection in all areas but specifically Christmas decorations for today's visit. A number of employees asked if I needed any help. (good luck getting that level of service at Loews or Home Depot) I purchased a few items and was asked if I needed any assistance by another employee (Raffaelo, who turns out is the new owner) What a nice guy who not only cares about the store, but also the neighborhood. I spent nearly 15 minutes with him discussing his upcoming plans/remodel. I look forward to seeing how everything turns out. This is my new go-to store! read more
