Came here to make a last minute run for my sister. I smelled the grill and at the entrance there were 2 ladies grilling hotdogs for the customers. I love coming to a store and being surprised like this. The hot dog was delicious and made my shopping trip that much more enjoyable. Even though I stopped for my sister I had to go to the garden center to check out what cool plants they have. Didn't really know what I was going to see because all Home Depo's plants section is either lacking good plants or they aren't being taken care of. This wasn't the case, they had rows of gorgeous succulents in all kinds and sizes as well ha pre made hanging pots that looked gorgeous. I thought about getting one & decided against it. Last time I got a gorgeous succulent planter it does within a few days. read more

I needed to buy more tile for my bathroom (to match what I bought 4-5 years ago at Home Depot), but it was discontinued. I talked to Ed Hester, Design Consultant at Home Depot on Elston Avenue in Chicago, IL on March 16, 2023, and he called Daltile in Elk Grove, Illinois. (I had given him the tile manufacturer as well as the SKU number). As Ed patiently tracked it down online, he simultaneously talked to an associate at Daltile. And he found my discontinued tile!! I've been coming to this Home Depot every week or so and I always come out with what I'm looking for. The staff at customer service are friendly and helpful when it comes to orders placed online. I've often received confirmations for pick up before the pick up date. The paint department is always helpful and they have a new guy there that's patient and willing to help. Really disappointed with the paint department service. When ever I go purchase paint either a young boy or older women is there. The times I've gone an African lady is there , she's always has an attitude towards client. Her customer service is not the nicest. Does not explain things or if You ask her a question she responds very negative towards clients, I witnessed it with the times I've gone and how she's spoken to other clients , after today my mother and I refused to go back we felt extremely uncomfortable towards our customer service, I really hope home depot can find someone friendly and HELPFUL in their paint area because the lady there definitely seems like she does not like her job. For a Big Box DIY store, this one isn't bad. Generally I don't have to wait longer than five people deep for the cashier. Although like all Home Depots it is hard to find someone to help you who knows what he or she is doing, given enough time you can find one such person somewhere in here. The garden supply part is well stocked in Spring, which is useful to me because this is close to a cemetery I visit four times a year. Getting on and off Cicero can be a bit of a challenge, be patient and be safe. read more

I don't know how people give this place bad reviews but every time I go in I look for Fred.. I believe that is his name. He knows everything from plumbing, to refrigeration work, to what correct items we've needed for our fish tank. He is super nice and helpful.. unlike other younger people who work there and seem to never be around. I finally found them after going down 2-3 aisles. Staff was friendly, but wish they were more knowledgeable about their products. Did seem to be less people than other Home Depots. I remember when back in the day you used to visit Home Depot and in almost every aisle and section of the store you had associates readily available and standing by for your questions. I recently visited on Sunday afternoon, it was not particularly busy (it looked kind of slow actually), and I had questions on persian blinds and curtains. I looked and looked, and didn't find anyone. The associates I did find were busy with other customers and it looked like it would take a while, so I looked for others with no success. I tried to read the information off of the boxes I was interested in and thought if I waited patiently, another associate that was free would come around and assist. 15 minutes passed and no one was around. That being said, I ended up walking out empty handed when I was ready to drop about $100 in home improvement materials that I really wanted to get out of the way. Placed an order online at around 11:30 am. Got my confirmation about an hour later that my order was ready for pick up.i didn't bother heading in right away. I picked up the order(what they apparently did have in stock).i decided to take a look for the item that got canceled. Sure enough.i saw the tool I needed (a $150 tool) I grabbed the ladder they had to get hard to reach items.i took it to the front and showed the cashier that told me they were out of stock, that I found it.i explained the nuisance of how laziness and lack of effort makes people upset.they're careless. This is an older Home Depot and it shows. The store is poorly laid out and has an over abundance of shopping carts for your choosing. Manage to get one free and your likely to find cement powder, dents, or other mysterious hardware goodness. Once inside, items are difficult to find and good luck trying to find someone to help. If the shopping carts were any hint, products are often out of stock and shelfs are a mess. Do yourself a favor, head over to the Oak Lawn or Chicago Ridge Home Depots and avoid this one. read more

Ordered cabinets from here. They were to be delivered on a specific day and time. Instead, they were delivered on an entirely different day. I got a call at 6am from a delivery driver saying that he will be at my house at 900. And it was clearly the wrong day. To make matters worse, I wasnt home. So I rushed all the way home, (in morning traffic) only to get there and he left. He cursed me out and my mother. Was completely disrespectful and told me he was not coming back! And I wasnt even late! They ruined my day. I called Home depot and spoke with a manager and they said they use a Third Party Delivery company that gets paid regardless so they leave whenever they want. I was irate! I made them come back to my house, since they ruined my day of work. I will never use home depot to deliver again. read more

I seen online that a product was in stock so I went and walked around for 2 hours and couldn't find it. All the employees were busy talking to each other and ignored me so I left. The next day the product was showing it was still in stock so I called ahead to make sure I don't drive for 45 min to get there again. When I called the first time it just rang and rang for 4 min straight. So I hung up and called back. It rang and rang but finally a Young girl answered and asked what the product was, she didn't ask the SKU # or anything and all she said was "I don't think we have those" and put me on hold to go look. After 7 min and the hold keeps re ringing like it's transferring me around, I ended up with no one back on the line and I eventually hung up. Customer service at this specific location is very bad. I will NEVER bother with this location again due to my horrible experience. All I was looking for was respirator masks. HDX small ones 30pack and the task of seeing if it was in stock was too much for the employees to handle. What a joke! Absolutely no help from employees, waited and waited for flooring and tile person to help me locate a tile, the lady had no idea about tile, how it's sold or where to located it. Online store said it was in stock, employee wouldn't even get out of her chair to help me look. Never again, fool me once Shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Store is a big mess stuff everywhere. Absolutely no standards. Amazing service! I came to this place looking for a few items to help fix up my house and back yard. I can honestly say I am completely clueless to anything having to do with tools or light fixtures etc. I must have looked lost, because a silver fox by the name of Dennis came to my rescue- well my mom's rescue. He helped us with what we had in our cart, because apparently everything we had was the wrong tool. Well he helped us and we ended up getting the right items, thanks to him. I went In to get three pieces of wood for my daughters bed and asked them to cut the wood to 4 feet 8 inches. When we got the wood we measured it and it was 4 feet. We put the wood back and grabbed two other pieces and told them if we can have it cut to 56 inches. I even made sure they measured it at 56 inches so there wouldn't be any confusion. So we let the employee do his thing and cut the wood and when we got it back it was cut to 57 inches. We decided to just leave wood and go someplace else. Not only did they mess up the cuts but they also took forever to find the measuring tape they knew they were going to need (they were called over the intercom that they were needed in the wood cutting section to cut wood) so why wouldn't they already have a tape measured handy knowing they were going to be cutting. read more
