I visited the Brookpark Rd. Home Depot location on a busy Sunday morning in April. The store had a lot of foot traffic! Even though it was busy, I had an amazing experience much to the credit of the two gentleman at the paint counter. I am a first time stainer, and I bought my piece in after watching the home depot tutorial on staining, to buy the items needed. After selecting my items, I waiting in line (2 people before me, both helped quickly and efficiently) to make sure I had everything I needed. Steve looked at my piece, provided much appreciated guidance and helped me to test the stain in 3 colors!! He was very quick, and didn't make me feel like I was annoying him. He even helped me buy a cleaning agent for the stain in case I get it on anything. He helped me save at least $10 by recommending a different bruch type as well. He went above and beyond, while the other gentleman at the desk helped other customers in line. It was a fantastic experience!! read more

It's nice to have a place for any needs you have for your house. They have remodeling supplies, appliances, outdoor furniture/decorations, plants and more. I went to the self checkout and was annoyed by the employee that stood right next to me the entire time I rang out my under $20 items. She made me feel like I was a criminal that couldn't be trusted. I'm really surprised at the low reviews for this location. I never had a bad experience here. I moved to Alabama a few years ago, and the Alabama store is terrible and poorly stocked. As a homeowner for 12 years that did all my own repairs, I always found what I needed at the Cleveland location. (Except one time that 40+ 1lb propane tanks could not be found by staff). I came out in a blizzard to get a thermocouple for the hot water heater so my wife could get a shower (and I needed one for sure after crawling around on the basement floor). My fondest memory was one of the many times I rented the flatbed truck to move a bunch of drywall. They guy at checking me out said "When you are loaded and heading out drive past our office and honk the horn a couple times and that's when I'll start the clock." Went to the store to purchase a dust pan, brooms, and assorted items to do my yard as it was a gorgeous weather day..Purchased the red mulch that I wanted at a terrific price! Purchased 20 bags and was able to drive through and put it right into my car. A young man named Will approached and said that he would load my vehicle up for me and as an added bonus and good thinking on his part placed plastic over the back of my car's turned down seats and proceeded to load my car up and we chatted for a few minutes. In a world where we often complain about customer service and often the younger generations Will was pleasant, helpful, and very cool! Need more people like him in the world! read more

Rental department was terrible. The guy charged for insurance on a short term rental without asking while I was bringing the car around. Only found out upon return where he extremely rudely refused to refund it and denied it happened acting like I was stupid for wanting the money back. Customer service eventually got it refunded but took a long time and was uncomfortable. read more

Home Depot is my favorite hardware store. Recently, I needed some cement mix and 4x8x16 hollow cinder blocks. They had many types of cement mix to choose from and I chose the foundation type, which is what I needed. I was able to get the cinder blocks too and they had plenty in stock, which was great because I had a contractor waiting at my house for the supplies. They had the items I needed and a speedy checkout process. What more can you ask for? read more

I rented a dump trailer from HD tool rental on 5/17 from the Cleveland, Ohio store on Brookpark road. The tool rental experience was not as advertised. The tool rental center associate was pleasant to work with. She admitted to the lack of training they receive. "The guys just drop off equipment, and we don't know about it, and we aren't trained on it," Well, that's unsettling to hear. The do it yourself really has to figure it out, huh? If the associate can't educate a customer properly, then the customer can't use the machine properly. It sounds like a lawsuit when someone seriously gets injured. Great conversation to have when renting equipment. Upon renting the trailer, the associate had no idea if it was charged or not. Well, that's not ideal. I came a long way to rent this and needed to walk away with the equipment. She stated they have no way to charge equipment properly. "Something was supposed to be done, but then COVID hit." It sounds like something should have been done way before COVID. How can you have battery-operated equipment with no proper charging station? Even still, they don't appear to have the time or knowledge to get the equipment ready for customer use. This sounds like a leadership problem at the store level and above. I had to travel quite a way to get this dump trailer and was not sure it would make the trip back and forth. This thing for sure has been used and abused to a question of how safe it was to use. The passenger side wheel was so wobbly it was vibrating my truck on the highway. Come to find out it was missing two wheel studs, and the others were very loose. We had to secure them to continue traveling. Even then, it did not seem safe. When dumping my load of gravel, the bed did not close slowly, the bed slammed down, and hydraulic fluid leaked from the machine. Another question of personal safety, and I'm sure the EPA would love this. We had to take extra time to dig out and remove the affected part of the ground. "Less saving and for sure MORE doing." I attempted to call the store when the issues occurred, but no one answered my call. It kept getting rerouted. You can tell this machine has not been appropriately serviced for these issues not to be new. A broken wheel stud with a degree of rust to indicate it happened months ago. Frayed wires and a battery that is so beat up because it was not adequately secured. Returning the machine turned into another saga. The location of the equipment is poorly placed. I did not think much of it when taking it, but it is surrounded by customer's vehicles. How can one possibly back up equipment in and out without causing damage to anything or even anyone? While it may have curb appeal, it is not convenient. The associate could not believe how his coworker sent the machine out because it was not ready and said she should never have. On a Sunday morning, only one tool rental center associate was available to help, and he admitted to his coworker calling off. So as he is dealing with us, frustrated customers, the phone is ringing off the hook and customers are waiting. Not a good look for home depot. An essential business, without essential help. Explains why no one could take our calls the day before. He willingly wiped out the contract and called the manager on duty to take our complaints further. He even supported our cause by telling us how to really rectify the situation with higher up management. Apparently, this is a common theme for customers to deal with. The manager on duty could not believe our poor experience. She was very sincere in our plight, though. We commented on inadequate maintenance protocols in place, in which she responds to how home depot doesn't even own the machines, another company is involved, and the other company leaves them parked there. Well, my, who's the other company? Why aren't they doing their job? We inspected some of the other pieces of equipment, to see if this was a fluke, but they were just as used and abused. The battery-operated equipment also was not plugged in, confirming the first associate's comment with the question of battery power. How can you rent pieces of equipment like this to the public? Who isn't doing their job? Why don't you service your machines? Why don't you train your associates? You failed in getting this doers stuff done. Then to boot! Another customer shared their horror story with a store delivery of items, and how her calls were not returned. Her delivery was MIA and then randomly shows up. She encouraged us to press on because we would need it. Oi! Be prepared to do more at your inconvenience. read more

I'm one of those people that really believes in supporting local businesses but this place is great and always has great deals. I love the online order pickup. I recently bought my first home and was at this location almost every day picking up things to repair/replace at my home. The staff at the online order pickup are always kind and always made conversation during the process. A few even know me by name. My only gripe is some of the cashiers at the regular registers need a bit more training. A buddy who is an electrician and I came in to buy wire, outlets, junction boxes etc. The cashier seemed so overwhelmed it was insane. He ended up charging us for a full roll of wire which was $130 when we only purchased 20ft. He had no idea what to do. We ended up going to the return counter and they refunded the $130 on my card. read more

I love her, she is so helpful and goes that extra distance for a customer. 3 days in a row I've been back to finish the remodel on my upstairs bathroom. She is so knowledgeable and just down right helpful. She is my go to! I won't talk to anyone else in that department but her, and when going into different departments I trust her recommendation on what might be helpful. This lady is management material! Bought a riding lawnmower this past summer, due to the fact that I'd had a 4th stroke and this made walking very hard. They told me they would assemble, but I would have to bring it home. When I went to get it I asked for the van-the employee told me I would have to get the big flatbed. I was getting the smallest one-about 5ft long. I struggled to get in and out of that high, inaccessible van as once you have strokes your body does not work right. They did not even include a key for the electric mower and the manager I talked to was really put out because I asked for a key. When I brought back their flatbed the man told me I could have used the van, but they didn't want to do that as that would have been more convenient for me. The next store I went to told me I could have paid for them to deliver-but was never offered that by the Brooklyn store. It was not assembled properly-I sat on the seat and it was not tightened and I almost went over the steering wheel. I asked this same manager to send someone to my house to tighten everything up-but no one ever came. I even tried the N Olmsted store and they sent me one that would not even start. They don't just care about the assembly or they send defective ones. They called and said they would send me $60 for my inconvenience at the Brooklyn store-that was almost 6 months ago-I guess their promises are as defective as their employees and material they sell. Perhaps they have not been able to master the workings of a mailbox either. I am very disabled-they don't care about that either. In any case-don't buy from Home Depot-customer service for them is history. Paying customers deserve much better-you can bet if you owe them money they will figure out how to use a mailbox. read more

Wow! I am a 12 year Medically Retired veteran of the Navy and have never been so embarrassed! I was told after showing my retired military ID card that I could not have a 10% discount as I always do! I was embarrassed by the register worker and the manager in front of others in line and told that the discount only applies to those with an active cac card or a VA identification card. I showed the posted sign to the manager that included retired but was told that I could not regardless and that I have the wrong ID. What the F? This was the manager. When it comes to home appliances, Home Depot's arrogance is exceeded only by their incompetence and total lack of service orientation. Two years ago I was redesigning my kitchen and we put thousands of dollars into to the appliances. While the process was ongoing my 3 year old stove crapped out. I had about 4 weeks before the contractors were going to install the appliances and cabinets so I asked Home Depot if they could deliver the new stove early. They said absolutely not, I'd get it on the originally scheduled day and not before. I had to cook outside for the entire time. There was no COVID excuse in 2018. Fast forward to 2020, The top rack of my dishwasher malfunctioned. On 11/5 the so called "repairman" came, immediately turned on the dishwasher and started to listen. I tried to tell him it was the rack but he said he diagnosed problems by listening and rudely shushed me. I repeated that the problem was the rack and he finally relented and opened the door and started to play with the rack. He said he had to order parts and he'd be back in 5 days. He didn't return until 12/22. He had brought the wrong parts but said: "Don't worry, I'm having my source 'overnight' the stuff I need." We're still waiting. Meanwhile I called the case manager and he said the best he could do was reimburse the cost of the dishwasher, leaving me to worry about installation and disposal. I bought the best maintenance plan I could and this is all I get? I might buy a hammer, drill or Ryobi tool from them, but never any appliances. They are useless in that department. read more

Had to return vinyl fence brackets because pieces were missing. Went and bought replacement parts and a few other things totaling right around $100. Every other time I go to Home DePot, they have given me 5% off because I have a Lowes Amex and I would get 5% off at Lowes. Have had bad experiences at Lowes, so have been going to Home Depot. They claim to honor competitor discounts, not this time. Check out girl called over another check out girl and they both said sorry. Guess I'll go back to Lowes and deal with the same low level of service but still get my 5% discount. SMH. read more

I just bought a house near this store & have been in numerous times in the last few weeks. Everyone has been super helpful with all my DIY questions! George helped me A LOT with flooring issues I was having. At 8:50pm on Monday, I went in to double check on flooring color. Jonathan was there & was so kind & helpful. I knew they were closing, but he said it was no big deal & when I offered to come back in the morning to deal with the purchase, he assured me, even though it was now 9:00 (closing) I could apply for the credit card to save a bit of money & do the purchase tonight! I recently ran into Home Depot 15 minutes before closing. I had to get carpet and a few other items. When I asked the young guy to cut carpet for me, he was annoyed. I needed a 6' piece of carpet cut and 2 pieces of carpet runner, both 4' long. While Mr. Happy was doing that, I ran to get a few more items. While he was measuring my carpet, he kept mumbling under his breath, and throwing his knife around. Seriously? I know it was 15 minutes til close, but I work too, and this is the only opportunity I have to get to Home Depot. He rolled up and taped my carpet and gave me the paper to take to the register. The next day I went to install that carpet, and one of the runners was only 3'. Of course they wouldn't give me another one, because "it was a custom item, and I must have ordered wrong." What is wrong with you people? I'm not shopping Home Depot anymore. Their employees are all rude, have no idea themselves where anything is, and it's ridiculous how they handled my situation. I also notice that no one from Home Depot responds to your comment, unless it's a compliment. I will definitely shop elsewhere, even if it's an inconvenience for me. Thanks Home Depot! read more

Door installation through Built Rite was an awful experience. Three phone calls were unreturned. After 3 weeks, the morning of the install (I took a day off of work) they called and said they couldn't install that day because the doors at Home Depot were damaged. Poor planning on their part. They did come after I insisted Built Rite go to a different store to pick one up. Installed wrong door knob. The bill from Home Depot arrived 3 weeks before door was installed (They did adjust bill after my complaint). The Home Depot side of things were better, but Built Rite works for them. They are at fault too. Too much competition out their to return to Home Depot. read more
