Ok, I don't know how to rate a Home Depot. I really don't. They have a huge selection of everything you need, and don't realize you need. My experience was a typical, "I'll run in to buy this one thing," but ended up shopping around and purchasing a bunch more. So that's just awesome. My biggest concern I guess, is that it's hard to flag down someone to ask where something is. Not impossible, but difficult. Not sure if it's a legitimate complaint because the place is so big. But there it is. I was surprised things were as expensive as they were. Not outrageous at all, but at such a massive scale, one would think the prices would be a bit lower. Overall, yes, I'd go back again. I like their business model. It's a one stop shop that has everything you need and don't need. I guess this is a non-review review. I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Home Depot Steelyard yesterday. The product I was looking for, was not on the shelf. I found a young man named Abdel who offered me assistance. He scanned the code, told me it was showing inventory. He went and got a step ladder and searched for15 minutes, and found the item. I was greatly impressed by this young mans work ethic. I ordered a bathroom cabinet. The box came ripped to pieces and the inside was scratched, damaged, nicked. They told me to set out for UPS. The box was torn and unable to be packed. They said they would send a crate in 7-10 days. It's in my doorway and I can't move it. Such poor quality and such poor customer service. read more

If I could give it 0 stars I would. Just picked up an online order. Had my ID out and order number. FREDDIE ASKED for my last name 3 times!! If u would've just looked at my ID u would've know that. To begin this location is probably one of the worst that I've been to in terms of Home Depot chain. As I'm writing this, I started off as a two star but to think how much time I've wasted in this place due to lack of customer service and efficiency is mind numbing to say the least. I've noticed that Cleveland and General lacksideal customer service, and the store is no exception. They are extremely rude. The store is full of employees, but none of them want to help. They all go to the front where despite lines being out the door for individuals trying to buy things they just group up the front and talk. I was there this past weekend and the line was extremely long. I think I waited in line to check out for over 25 minutes. This was after a gross amount of time in the store looking for somebody to help me with drywall pricing as it was not labeled, I've purchased things from the store that they've returned and put back on the shelves only to find that it was returned and missing an item. I've had cans of paint open up on me because it wasn't appropriately closed by the front desk and when I tried to return it, they wouldn't allow me to return it stating that it had been used despite me explaining to them that it was not used and it opened up during transport because it wasn't closed. There are days such as weekends where the staff is completely not present and maybe seven or eight people are working an entire store, it's quite frustrating as this is another location next to one of my rental properties that's easier for me to access but honestly it's not worth the whole hour that is spent in the store trying to purchase at least one thing. This is another location I would recommend buying on Amazon versus wasting your time coming here. read more

A typical Home Depot. Not as bad as people describe it on other reviews, maybe people should calibrate their expectations. It's a hardware store. You can get better deals online for alot of stuff they sell, but if you need something right away, you don't have a choice. I bought lifeproof vinyl flooring here that was supposed to be the most durable thing they have. It was not. It became thoroughly scratched with in a week of use. Home Depot, who we used to spend $50k+ a year, refuses to refund us about $190 for the awful flooring. They said to try to recoup our losses through the manufacturers warranty, who's information they were supposedly providing. Turns out they have us the completely wrong contact info. I will not only never return to the Steelyard location which we frequented almost daily, but I am no longer going to any Home Depot anywhere. I'm a Lowe's guy now read more

This location is really just ok. Once you pass the greeter (if there is one) the only other interaction with staff you will have is checking out. Unless of course you seek an employee out, and even then, you might be better off on your own. Side note: I wish one could checkout at either entrance, instead of just one. Really inconvenient. The garden center could use a much larger selection of trees/bushes/plants and good luck finding any employee there except the cashier. Prices are also higher than their competition, like hanging begonias were $4 cheaper at Marc's. read more

The manager tried to remove me out of the store, and in order to remove me at the store he wanted to give me the items for free I refused. I still paid for them. The issue isn't getting free stuff. I visited the store this afternoon to purchase a fridge for my new home after a previous selection was delivered and didn't fit the space in my kitchen. I found a new product (an LG Fridge) that I liked and decided to buy it. I asked the associate covering the appliance section (Susan) to help me look up the specifications in the Home Depot Appliances computer database (to make sure things would fit this time around). When she brought the item up, there was a hefty price difference between the price advertised in the store (large orange sign above the fridge with price listed $1898) and the price shown online ($2600). I brought this up with the associate immediately. She recognized the price difference and we confirmed that the fridge product number listed on the advertisement was the same product/model that we were ordering in the computer. She noted that the sign that was hanging above the fridge in the store was a deal that had expired a few days prior. The sign had not been thrown away. The price $1898 was listed in large bold font and expiration date of 9/15 was listed in small font lower down on the page. Susan explained the protocol for handling these situations: the price advertised was generally honored. She called the store manager (Manuel or Manny) and after discussing it with him, he instructed her to honor the price advertised in the store. He gave the approval and asked her to manually override the price in the system, noting his name and the reason for override as "Customer Satisfaction," specifying that there was "incorrect signage" on the product. We proceeded to order the fridge, warranty, installation, etc. She took down all my information and my address and even set down a delivery date for 10/23. My invoice was printed and in my hand. Just before I was about to head to the register to pay for my order, another employee (Jeremy Eric) appears and without any introduction as to his roll proclaims, "You're not getting this for that price." Needless to say, I found Jeremy's treatment of the situation be extremely rude and unprofessional. He asked to see the advertisement and re-asserted that he would not give me the price I had been promised. I explained my confusion given that two other employees (including a senior associate!) had already essentially booked my order with the price as advertised. He explained that his employees had made a mistake and that he would "deal with them later." His tone made it very clear the other two employees would be reprimanded for the mistake. Jeremy then made an offer to deduct 10% from the full $2600 price, which I refused. My family and I have shopped at The Home Depot for years and I have always been treated with respect by helpful staff. I selected The Home Depot for ALL of my home appliances for my new home. But as a customer I have never been treated so rudely before at the Home Depot. I was basically intimidated out of the store by this manager Jeremy who refused to acknowledge that I was misled by their initial advertisement as well as by several employees who were now demanding I pay almost $1000 more for the item which I was quoted a lower price. As a customer, I find this business practice unacceptable: revoking a price quote that a senior sales associate (store manager Manny) has already approved only after the customer has committed to the item and placed the order. I am sure that the Division of Assessments and Licenses of the City of Cleveland also finds false advertisement to be ILLEGAL. Moreover--and perhaps most importantly--I find the practice of treating customers rudely and threatening co-workers to be very troublesome and I hope you will agree that this behavior is inconsistent with the business values of The Home Depot. I have retained my invoice and am filing a complaint with the Home Depot's corporate office! If necessary, I will also be filing a complaint against this store and this manager with the city of Cleveland. I will never shop at this Home Depot again and if corporate doesn't come through for me, I will take my business somewhere else completely! I suggest anyone reading this do the same! read more

LL HOME DEPOT DO NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS, THE RED AND BLACK HUSKY STORAGE CONTAINERS ARE EASILY BREAKABLE, the handles break easily , I tried to return them to home depot but was told Husky change the serial numbers on containers so it shows up as Home depot does not carry the item any more... which is a lie its the same item just different serial number. Sure, this Home Depot's probably the same as any other. However, a few things to note that make this experience nice: -People greet you at the door and they can actually help you with what you need. They usually don't have to refer you to three other people to find what you're looking for. -What was once the "grill and coal oasis" (my name) has now become the "get the *@&*& out of your snow jam oasis." Loads of shovels and car scrapers. Ones that expand, ones that don't, mini ones, and so on. -The key guy is nice and competent. When I had to wait a little while for my key to be copied (because I just happened to be there the one time 3 other people were waiting in line), he said, "Thanks for being patient." -The self-check out is not frustrating as hell like it is at most grocery stores. Plus it's almost always empty, so if you run into a problem or something's too big to scan, someone can help you out right away. If I were a dude, I'm sure there'd be more to say. read more

Misogynistic - my sister, fiancé ("man"), and I went to get lumber. A sales associate watched without comment as the "man" got lumber down, when my sister went to grab lumber he barked, loudly and abrasively, "No! that's what I'm here for." Then proceeded to hand the lumber over my sisters head to the "man," then when my sister went to take a board, he again barked "No! not you." She asked "I'm not allowed to even help?" "No!" She left, furious-which I agree with- you CANNOT disallow someone from doing something based solely on what (gender, race, religion) they are. There is a name for that. You cannot pretend you are helping a lady by yelling at her. When I told the sales associate that we was incredibly rude, he was bewildered "what? I don't like to see a lady carry lumber." Train your people Home Depot! There are tons of women that work in construction now, and that attitude is not acceptable. read more

At one point, I was the mayor of this Home Depot because, well, I was there on a weekly basis. I've been here so many times and typically found what I wanted. On the occasion, I'll have to go to another Home Depot (Lakewood has more options and renting), but the staff are always pleasant and if they don't know the answer, they'll call someone who does. I also like that you can rent their home depot truck for $20, which has helped me with some of my larger buys and avoided home delivery charges. read more

Went here after Christmas to build a stair railing. All the wood for the precut kits was warped. Tried to find an employee to ask about steel or aluminum options. When I eventually found one, they couldn't help me but said they would call someone else. Waited 20 minutes for help then left in frustration. Passed a group of 6 employees hanging around talking at the front of the store. Very frustrating, won't shop here again. read more

Update: this Home Depot continues to be a one star store. They canceled my online order despite showing 5 of the item in stock. The cancellation email stated the gift card balance would be emailed back with a claim code. 5 days later I got a phone call saying that I would have to come in or they could snail mail me a claim check (which I'm sure I won't be able to use online). The associate was unhelpful on the phone stating "I can't control what Home Depot.com sends you". Umm-you work for them. Go to Lowe's. This was the first time I visited this Home Depot and it was just okay. My boyfriend and I needed to rent a flatbed truck to move a china cabinet. They have funny rules that they don't rent them out on weekends so we had to do it on a Friday. They stop renting trucks at 5pm and they are first come first serve. We first tried to rent one from the Cleveland Heights location because it would be closer to where we were going, but they simply said "no we don't have any" and then hung up on us. We then called the Steelyard location. They had one and my boyfriend was able to put it on hold for me to get there... Good thing I am a teacher and am off over the summer. If we both worked normal 9-5s we would be SOL. When I got there they had told me to go to the services center. I told them what I needed and gave my last name, my boyfriends instructions, and they said no! The person I was waiting for had a last name of V not D! I started to panic for a second before they finally decided that maybe they did hear him wrong and I could have the truck. The rest of the rental process was pretty basic and easy. They took my info, checked the truck and sent me on my way with little other info. The truck cost $19.99 for 75 min and $10 for every extra hour. Not a bad deal at all. On the way back I realized I had used some gas and was not going to be returning it at the level it left so we tried to look at the rental agreement to see if it said we needed to replace the gas... It was NO WHERE! We then called Home Depot and they put us on hold while we sat in a gas station parking lot waiting and wasting time and money. Finally they were super short with us when they said yes we needed to replace the gas, like we were bothering them by asking. That information would have been helpful BEFORE I LEFT THE STORE! Overall we paid $39 for the truck and put $15 in gas. Not a bad deal. UHaul would have been probably twice that. read more

I found a utility trailer I wanted to purchase but it was out of stock. I signed up online for an alert when it was back in stock. Immediately after receiving the alert I ordered & paid for my trailer. My delivery day was in 3 weeks. The entire time it was on its way. 2 days before the scheduled day of arrival and after waiting 3 weeks, I received notice that the trailer I waited for to be in stock in to order & waited 3 more weeks for delivery was not coming because it is not in stock. I called for service & was told that the rep contacted the manufacturer & they would contact me by 5 PM for an updated delivery date. After not receiving a call, I called back 2 days later. After being on hold for 20 minutes & then explaining everything to the rep, I was asked to hold for a supervisor. I waited on hold for 20 more minutes until the call hang up on me & asked for feedback of my experience. I called back again & waited 20 more minutes on hold only to be told that I should wait another month to see if it comes & if it did not they would just autocratically cancel my order. After being a Home Depot customer for years, I will never do business with them again. I strongly recommend to everyone else that you shop somewhere else as well. Then Luis checked us out and he was absolutely fantastic! Everyone talks down on Steelyard and I am so happy that we decided to go to this location. I stopped going to the store because they're always rude. They take their time finding a specialist for what I'm looking for. I gave up getting lumber from this location because I have a smaller car and I don't use standard sizes so I asked them to cut the sheet for me and I always get a hard time and for the last Year (yes, 365 days) their saw does not work. How long does it take to fix a saw?? Prefer HD over the competition, but with such crappy service, I don't have much of a choice. read more

Brookpark, Ohio...I got scammed but not because of the company, but because of the way their gift cards are sold; BEWARE! Their gift cards come in two parts, there's the credit-card sized gift card, and a small piece that you break off. I made a purchase with gift card 98081450991345259120924 and I had not yet removed it from the thin cardboard backing, so I handed the whole thing over to the employee who removed it from the backing, broke off the small part and threw it into an orange bucket along with the debris. I had about 8$ left on the card. Went back this week and there was no balance left. This was partially my fault because I had heard that the small piece can also be used to buy things. So just make sure you keep BOTH parts of the gift cards, so that if there's a dishonest employee you won't be surprised and find a 0$ balance on YOUR card.... Of course I emailed HD to ask that they sell gift cards in ONE PIECE to preclude this from happening to others....but you know how easily emails get deleted...... read more

Do not buy any services from home depot. When they pass it off to their contractor they give no assistance to their customer. It is impossible to get them on the phone and it is impossible to get help if the installation has issues, like my a/c install did. The one person at another store who tried to help filled a ticket which only got passed back to the contractor. I was without a/c for three months after install and none would help. If you want to buy physical things from them fine, but take your services business elsewhere. read more

I called the store at 9am several times and finally spoke with someone in customer service to pickup my order that I tracked for 6 days. The item was still on the truck and I asked if they would have someone go get it off the truck and I would pick it up. The rep told me that the truck would be unloaded until that evening. I explained that I needed the item and was in the middle of a job. After being placed on hold for several minutes, the rep came back on the phone and told me that I could pick it up - now. I arrived at the store about an hour later and was told that it was still on the truck and that I would probably get a call in a couple of days. The cashier called her supervisor who gave me the same old company line - 'you'll get it when we find it convenient to give it to you' [is what I heard]. The supervisor should have sent someone to get the item and apologized for inconveniencing me. read more
