The Home Depot - Garden center - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Colonia, New Jersey

This is the worst establishment and business known to man! I'm really curious how home depot is still in business. Went there in July to order appliances, due to pandemic we were told it would take 6 weeks. Ok we can live with that. They had a bundle sale, the more you more the more they took off. 6 appliances = $600 off purchase. For whatever reason the gentleman said oh no it doesn't work for what you got, our microwave was under $300 so the discount didn't apply. Ok so we opted not to get a stove and just get a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and fridge. When we saw our bill he never took off the stove. He has to cancel and re do and we were there for over 3 hours with this guy trying to figure it out. We finally leave and see he gave us a bill that had the stove and stove parts on it, hook ups on some that we didn't ask to be hooked up and no insurance on items we wanted insurance on, it was a huge mess. Called the store like 5 times (constantly being hung up on and also almost impossible to get through) it was so ridiculous I went back to the store in person to speak to someone and get it straightened out. Had to wait over an hour for someone because they were on lunch, then when they came he said oh I can't help you you need a manager. So then I had to wait another half hour for a manager to become available. $600 of over charges! Then I get home look through everything and see hmm a discount wasn't applied to one of the appliances. I called corporate and had them fix it, $30 back for that. I mean the amount of times we called and had to get our receipt fixed was ridiculous and the over-chargement was insane ! Wait it gets WORSE ! Delivery day is here, they come in and say oh the fridge won't fit through the doorway sorry can't deliver. I said oh shoot really? Ok I measured and they said it needed another inch of wiggle room I need to re order. So they (delivery guys) call and cancel the fridge and tell me I need to speak to someone on the phone and order a new one. Well every goddamn fridge that "fits" is out of stock or back ordered til DECEMBER. It's August. I said I'll have to call back. So because of the fridge they took every other appliance back. Wouldn't leave the washer or dryer or anything. I had to call and set up a new delivery time. Turns out the fridge would fit fine by removing one side of the frame and so I called and said I wanted the fridge added back to the order and within that two hour time frame they told me no it was out of stock!?! Mind you it was on the truck when they arrived !?! Such BS! They call and set up an new delivery date and no fridge with the order. Can't find a fridge at all. Well Lowe's had one and delivered the next day and hooked it all up ! Well let me tell you, next time go to Lowe's because my horror story with Home Depot still isn't over. They call the following Wednesday saying they are here to install the dishwasher ! What dishwasher !?! They took it away remember !? When they came to deliver everything the following Saturday (new delivery day ) I was in the hospital delivering my baby. I had to have my sister go and make sure everything was ok, they REFUSED to hook up appliances because they said we canceled the hook up! We never did, they called on Wednesday and we didn't have any appliances to be hooked up ! So I come home to a fucking dishwasher in my living room, none of my appliances hooked up besides my fridge thanks to Lowe's and a new born baby. I had to call they said oh we will get someone out there first thing Monday !!!!!!!!!!!! I had to call a local plumber and have them come out and do the installation and haul always. Mind you I paid for Home Depot to haul away the old, had to call and fight for my money back, then had to go inside and fight because they never refunded me for Haul always and hookups. It was the worst experience and nightmare. I will not give them any of my business at any capacity. I hate Home Depot. read more

If you placed a rental order, be sure to check your bank statement for random charges for the next month or so. And it will be hell to try to get them to refund the charge. This is regarding their customer service. We placed a rental order after ida, and the next morning we were called and told they were flooded, and everything is destroyed and they need to cancel our rental. Ok, we can understand that. Then 20+ days later, they charged us rental deposit. I tried to call the customer service line, was told to call their credit card service line or homedepot online. So I did, and a frustrating amount of "if you need to...dial this" later, was told they don't know how to do anything, because it's not a homedepot card. So I call back the store, this time customer service manager angrily told me they can't pull up anything to help me, I should call my bank, like my bank will know why HomeDepot charge me. As I asked if she can find out why I was charged , she hang up on me. Yeah, I wasn't even on the phone for more than 5 minutes, and she hung up on me like I wasted her time trying to get money back the store mistakenly charged. I contacted tool rental 3 times, and was told they see the rental and charge, but can only be refunded if the supervisor is there. Fingers crossed that I can get him maybe tomorrow. Though the tool rental guys were very nice, apologetic and offered actual help. Ridiculous how their customer service manager is the only one who is the weakest link and least willing to help a customer. read more

Came in to buy paint and asked a few questions the guy behind the counter clearly didn't want to be there. Asked a couple of questions pertaining to finishes. This guy was so rude. We leff the store. We went to Sherwin-Williams and the customer service was fantastic. 5 quarts of paint and supplies without rudeness and they were very helpful I only gave a 1 star because I couldn't continue with the review. read more

Do NOT place an order for delivery of wood from this Home Depot. Recently placed an order for what was called "premium" treated deck boards. What was delivered to my home is barely usable not matter how I flip them. One actually still has the bark on it. Home Depot should be embarrassed. read more

After receiving poor customer treatment, I contacted the corporate office. They responded quickly, sincerely apologized for the incident promising a retraining of the individual, and obliged my request for a $100 gift certificate to return me as a customer. I am not only satisfied but impressed with the thoughtful and diligent response of the Home Depot management. I have therefore increased my rating from 1 to 3 stars and have returned as a customer. Initial review (which has now been addressed) is below: I am writing this review due to the negative way I was treated when attempting to make a return. Upon approaching the returns desk with a halogen work light that was used a few times but being returned within 90 days, I was given a severe attitude and a 'business' lecture on why they don't honor customers who decide to buy something use it a few times and then return it. First of all, the return policy states that returns will be honored if within 90 days and says NOTHING regarding usage. The product was returned fully functional and I even encouraged the lady to test the item to ensure proper function OR to even just grant me store credit so that the business could still realize a sale. If I was in any way wrong or if my return violated any policy, she could have stated this to me or contacted the manager if uncertain. I in NO WAY deserved to be treated the way I was tonight and as a result that store has just lost a customer that has been giving them 6 years of business. While I did contact the store manager to explain the incident and while he was nice, apologetic and said the lady will be retrained, her hurtful words and attitude cannot be taken back. As a result, I am writing this review and intend on contacting the corporate office to ensure that I am taken seriously. Until then, I will cease from shopping at home depot. *Addendum 7/19/11 - I was contacted by the store manager who provided a sincere apology. We spoke in depth and I felt he was sincere about his commitment to customer service. I also received an email reply from a resolution team member. Also note Stephanie's response below. Horrible store manager Jeff!!! He is no help at all called to speak to him about his coworkers who loaded the truck with 3 pallets of flooring and stacked them on top of each other and assured me that I would be fine driving. After driving to drop the Matterials the flooring fell overboard. Called to see what could be done and Jeff was very rude and just spoke over me when I was trying explain the situation. Even though he wasn't there at the time of loading he kept acting like he was. Instead of finding a way to resolve this he kept telling me to go to a lawyer and ask them if it's my fault. Instead of taking some responsibility for his coworkers he was just being arrogant. The worst part is he just hung up the phone on me after not allowing me to speak. How is this guy a store manager. A store manager is supposed to find away to resolve a situation not just screaming on the phone and then ending the call without allowing you to speak. I guess Home Depot just hires any idiot to run the store. The least he could have done is offered a discount on the remaining floor I would need to purchase. read more

I am a general manager of a retail facility myself so I always appreciate honest reviews. With that said, I have been shopping at this Home Depot for years since I live in the area. I know everyone always says this but I spend over a $1,000 a year there which is a lot of money these days when there is so much competition in the retail world. This was my experience on Saturday December 28th, 2019. I purchased 3 Large storage containers for $15 each. Usually I use my Home Depot credit card but this time I sent someone with cash to pick up these containers for my business. When I got to my office I noticed the person got the wrong size. So I went to take them back but the person lost the receipt. Being a retail manager myself I figured since I was just doing an exchange there wouldn't be a problem. Well I get to this location and go to customer service and the guy offers me $4.54 each for the containers. He explained to me the policy and said that without a receipt they issue the lowest price the item has ever sold for in the store. Fair enough that's the policy and I respect that. So I asked to speak to a manager, that's when things got out of control. The Hispanic male (I wish I got his name) told me there is no manager and theirs nothing they could do for me unless I take the $4.54. So my wife goes up to an other employee and asks for an manager and the employee immediately responds, "he's busy how can I help you?" So she told him to get his manager. The guy walks off so we went to two women in the paint department who immediately called for the manager on duty the assistant manager Chris. As I am waiting for Chris to come the employee my wife just talked to requesting a manager walks passed me with another employee trash talking my wife and saying "I don't know where she went she's probably complaining to someone else". The manager Chris comes up to the front and I tell him what my experience was and what the issue was and he immediately helped me. He is a great guy and completely understood my concerns and fixed my problem. It's just unfortunate that the other two guys working there have no idea how customer service works and sadly that is what contributes to the doors closing for many businesses these days. I will be back to this location because of Chris and those wonder ladies in the paint department. read more

I am surprised to say that my recent visit I felt that I was in a different store. The store seemed disorganized and messy. I couldn't find anyone to help me in hardware with a pneumatic nailer. I live locally and shop here Linden or Woodbridge and I usually enjoy this store more but not today. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would have! Worst experience ever of my entire life! I have been dealing w/them since May 25th (almost a month). Below is a time lined account of what I've gone through w/this store ... May 25th -Ordered both the storm door & the floor. Was told the floor would be in w/in 5-7 bus. days and that someone would call me in about 3 bus. days to set up a time to measure the frame for the door. May 31st -I called the HD store and spoke w/Dave to find out when they would come to measure the frame. He called the manufacturer but they were closed. Said he would call them tomorrow and call me back w/an update. June 1st -Dave called to say he spoke w/the door company and someone would call me that afternoon or the next morning to set up a time to come out and measure the frame. I never received a phone call. June 4th - Since I never heard from anyone about measuring the frame I called the HD store again. The man I spoke w/said they had received the measurements already - that someone came out Friday afternoon and measured the door. News to me as no one called! He said I could come in that night to finish paying for the door. I also asked him to check on the flooring. He said it looked like the floor had come in May 30th and I could pick it up when we came in to pay for the door. We went to the store around 530pm to pay for the door and pick up the flooring. We paid the portion of the door and was told the Mac company would call me w/in 5 bus. days to set up a time to install the door. He said they had to call me this time as someone needed to be home when the door was installed. He also gave me the # for the door people just in case. We then went to the floor department. The man I spoke w/said he would check receiving for it. He did and said it had not yet been received but he wasn't able to look up why or where it was. I would need to speak w/another young woman about that. She was busy w/a customer and after waiting about 15 mins for her to finish we left. June 5th - I called the store to find out what the deal was w/the floor. The man I spoke w/said he would need to call the manufacturer and call me back. I asked if he would call me back that day, he said he would. No one called. June 6th - I called the store again and spoke w/Marisol and was told the same thing, she needed to call the manufacturer and would call me back. I told her that I had called the day before and was told the same thing and no one called. She apologized and said she would do it right now and call me back. About 20 minutes later a Jamal called me back and said that the floor was not going to be shipped from Fairfield until the 12th! He couldn't tell me why or do anything to help me. He said his expeditor Anna might be able to do more for me but she was out and wouldn't be in until tomorrow. I asked him to have her call me. He said he would. June 7th - no one called me June 8th - Instead of calling the HD store again I decided to email customer care about my situation. Latilda from customer care emailed me back later that day to say she had forwarded my issue to the manager of the Colonia store and would follow up w/me on Mon. The manager, Jai, called about 6pm and we spoke for 25 minutes about the issues I was having. I explained the entire story to him in detail. He said he would get w/his managers and make some calls to find out what was happening and someone would call me back Sat. by 8pm. June 9th - No one called June 10th - No one called June 11th - I called Jai at 10am and left a msg saying that no one had called me on Sat w/an update about the floor or door. I said I didn't want to cancel but they were giving me no choice! About 15 minutes later I received a call from Carlos, a store manager, who said he was told to call me but was unclear about my issue. I updated him and he said he would have to call the manufacturers and call me back - same damn story! He called me back a couple hours later to say the floor was still scheduled to ship on the 12th and there was nothing he could do about that. He also said that the reason no one called me to install the door is because the door was out of stock - until the 18th! I said that was unacceptable and asked why couldn't anyone tell me that the other times I called to check in. He said he would have the expeditor see what she could do to bump up the date. The expeditor called me a few hours after that to say the 18th is when the door was due back in the stock and once the installer got the door they would call to make the appointment. June11th-June20th - I emailed Latilda 4 times during this period, first updating her and then asking why I hadn't heard from her. To date I've still not received a response. June 20th - I called Mac myself to get an update. They gave me the installers # and I set up the apt myself - earliest they could do was June 28th! Bottom line is - DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! The staff here are much more knowledgeable and friendly than other Home Depots. They DEFINITELY beat out all the Lowes I've been to especially the Lowes in Woodbridge (near Wegmans). I was in the outdoor garden department and was looking for a specific type of concrete block. I asked one of the staff that passed by (Evelyn), and she walked with me all the way from the outdoor garden dept to the lumber area (opposite ends of the store) and even proceeded to help me carry some heavy cinder blocks into my cart without even me asking her. She and I are about equivalent in size, both petite, yet here she was carrying cinder blocks into my cart. Very courteous! I was looking at other concrete blocks in the same area and at least two other male staff who were passing by (one who was helping another guy in the same area carry other items) asked if I needed help. What a great set of staff! You would NEVER see this kind of service from the staff at Lowes in Woodbridge. I will come here for all of my DIY projects as long as they keep a friendly and knowledgeable set of staff. Keep up the good work! read more

There wasn't an associate in doors, he was at lunch. Why would you go to lunch without any back up at all in the department is beyond me. All though I had asked for assistance, within minutes Mike ID# came to help me. He works in the PRO Dept but he was more than happy to help me in any way possible. Mike made my shopping experience a pleasure & helped me to chose the storm & front doors that would fit my needs. He was informative & knowledgeable and if he wasn't sure of an answer, he happily looked into it for me. Mike was personable & efficient. He completed the entire process, from choosing the doors, to ordering, and walking me through a quick & painless check out. I would definitely come back to shop at this store because of the wonderful experience I had today. read more

Arlene M. I had a storm door that had lost the handle. In order to open it, I had to stick a finger in the hole which was not good on the manicure. Since I thought it was an Anderson door, I went to several places, including the website to try to order a new handle. I couldn't do that because I didn't have a serial number even though I had taken a picture of the door. I then went to the Home Depot in Colonia were I met Steve Lewis. He took one look at the picture and identified my door. He gave me a number to call to get the information on getting the handle. The next day I returned to the store and Steve ordered the kit for me. After running around in circles, thanks to Steve, I had my new handle in a week. It has been installed and my manicure is now safe. Thank You, Steve for your kind, efficient, and courteous service. read more

I like this Home Depot - I really love the one in Vauxhall (they even have a Dunkin!) but this place is good. I can find everything I need, it's a good size and well stocked. Springtime is when I make frequent visits as their garden section has really nice flowers/plants/mulch/planters, etc. read more
