I was waiting for a train nearby and had some time to kill, so I decided I'd browse the garden section and see what plants they had. They're utilizing the parking lot here to expand the options which is good because the actual section itself is rather small. I wasn't actually planning to buy anything here but they had some really interesting options and I found a new pepper plant I had to grab. 5 bucks for a spicy bell pepper plant seems like a deal to me. Workers were friendly and helpful as well. They had some varieties of tomatoes I've never tried, so I might just be back for more. read more

I don't know how many times I have been to Home Depot over the years. Whenever we need any home improvement items, such as paint, furnace filters, light bulbs, outdoor light fixtures, plants... and most recently, picture hanging kits, I go to either this Home Depot (Deerfield) or the one in the Glen (Glenview). They are always early to carry seasonal merchandise. I saw lots of pumpkins and Fall decorations outside their store. Inside, there were Halloween stuff and even artificial Christmas trees and decorations already! It is always easy to find some staff for help. This time when I was leaving, a friendly male staff at the exit said "thank you" and "keep safe" to every departing customer. When I was in the parking lot, another staff walking my way said "have a nice day" to me. These little nice gestures made me happy. read more

Terrible experience in this store yesterday 6/12/26. Looking for a new screw drill and possible set for a Father's Day gift and couldn't find any decent help at all. The employees don't make eye contact so as to not risk being asked a question. I only saw 2 employees around the middle section where De Walt and Milwaukee brand tools were and they ignored me. I managed to get one guy who doesn't speak English well and couldn't comprehend what I was getting at with my questions. So fucking annoying Home Depot! You want people to buy your products but you don't help. F off then. Also I tried to return my EMPTY cart near the entrance and was met with a f ing shit show of some invisible magnet that didn't allow you past a point and some loud annoying alarm noise like I'm a criminal. On our search for outdoor plants and trees, we happened to stop by Home Depot real quick before the rain came...and boy did the rain hit fast before we had much time to really dig in. We've been hunting for arborvitaes at various stops in the area. Sadly the tall ones weren't looking so hot, which is surprising considering all the amazing rain we've been having. However, the cute tiny tot ones really caught my eye. Those were in fabulous shape. The rest of the outdoor plants were nicely-priced and there was a good variety. As far as the flowers are concerned, they have every variety you can imagine. In the past there was quite a controversy over buying flowers from Home Depot due to them being preserved by neonicotinoids. No issue against the store, however they push & offer a discount if you get there credit card. I've had there credit card for 20 years & more & what ever my balance is I pay. I never Carry a balance, & this goes for all my credit cards. I've spent thousands over many years. I had a bill for $140 & mailed a check as usual, but for some reason they didn't receive it (lost in mail?). Not aware of this until my next billing . My phone start ringing a few days before I was aware they didn't receive my check from there collection department asking my to pay it over the phone, when I received the bill a few days later I had a late fee & interest charges of over $30 plus. I had a new balance of over $300 plus old totals very $500 so I told them over the phone I will ACH (wire) the money next day & pay everything in full & refuse to pay late fee & interest charges. In maybe 20 years of having this card never missed a payment, & sometimes checks get lost & companies understand based on pass history of payment & remove.They keep insisting I pay over the phone & treated me like a dead beat. I said no I wire the money. I wired the next day over $500 plus minus late charges. My wife told me they have been calling are home for several days looking for payment, this is before we received are next billing. I Called & canceled my card. Unbelievable shame on them read more

Do yourself a favor, Don't ever buy Hunter Douglas shades through HomeDepot! Great in the beginning with the salesperson but the installing was incomplete, leaving a dangling electrical cord, which is part of the automatic up and down control, for $2,000, you would think that everything would be included and I would have a beautiful new shade with a perfectly adhere to the inside of the window, along the frame of my window. After two different visits, installation visits, it's still not right, very disappointed in the poor service and communications with Hunter Douglas and their installers so I called again and keep my fingers crossed they will get this right or whether they're going to force me to remove this legally and find a new company but I would not do business with Home Depot because they just don't have the follow through and make sure the installers do their job right not sure how much of it is Hunter Douglas but HomeDepot is! read more

Horrible customer service. I just spent $200 on three trees and asked for help putting them in my car. The ignorant kid who threw them in my car on top of each other dirt all over had the worst attitude. After he threw them in the car he said very rudely there you go.I was going to tip him but decided not to and called the manager. I have been going to this Home Depot for more than five years. As a large box store that sells necessary household items inexpensively, it is fine. I had a good experience this spring when I purchased three trees there. They have a guy that is passionate about gardening and he gave me very good service. That said, the service was a more a reflection of his own passion than anything Home Depot did. No one else there was remotely close to his level of knowledge or enthusiasm. As for making a large purchase, I will never go back there again. Several weeks ago I purchased a $400 Brinkman Grill. I had it professionally installed by an outside contractor. The grill only heated to 275 degrees (it is supposed to get much hotter than that). I spoke with Dave Bigelow, the assistant manager, who promised to come look at the grill two days later. Instead, he calls back and tells me that they don't know how to service the grill and that I need to raise this issue with the manufacturer. WHAT?!? Isn't that why I go to a store to begin with? Otherwise I could purchase the same grill online. I'm still left with a grill that doesn't cook. Next time I'll go to ABT in Glenview and pay the extra few bucks for service and installation. Making a large purchase from Home Depot is penny wise, pound foolish. read more

I do most of my projects around the house and this HD is the best one by far in the area. The one on Willow in Glenview is just plain pitiful and the one in Evanston is almost as bad. This store has their employees greeting you and asking if you need help finding anything. Most times they'll take you right to the item you're looking for. The folks who work here are knowledgeable and seem to be placed in their ares of expertise. I've bought everything from lumber to plants to flooring here and haven't been disappointed yet. Went to return a ceiling fan which stopped working after calling and confirming it was within the 90 day period with original receipt. Mr.Toni from electrical who was to check made a huge deal about it and was being very rude to us. Even after requesting a store credit, he insisted he won't accept the return. When asked if I can speak with the store manager he lied to us stating he is the store manager while it shows in the app that it is Ms Leena G. Went to Vernon Hills store and Mr. Derek the one who processed the return was so pleasant and helpful. FYI: We had called the manufacturer and the HD customer care before bringing the fan in and was confirmed it is within warranty and can be returned with no hassles which is what happened at Vernon Hills location. read more

Whenever I need to go to a Home Depot in the Northwest suburbs, this is one of my favorite locations. This location always has a good stock and selection of the different items I need with good prices and friendly staff. The parking is a bit easier than some other locations as this is mostly separated from other stores, unlike some locations located in the middle of a strip mall or in busy traffic. Another plus is the hot dogs they sell by the exit, which are cheap but similar in quality to other local options. read more

I go to this location prob 2-3x a week over the last 3 months. Everyone does the best they can for being a high volume location pinned against a strips of fast food. Other HD near by are out of red mulch, stones, gutters or just random stuff but this location runs out and restocks. I was behind a woman whom was returning flowers and complaining for over 20-25 minutes because she planted them in March and didn't cover or any other protection. It was mid June when she decided to go "Karen" on everyone in the store and talk to the manager's manager's manager. I was expecting her to ask for the Home Depot board members' personal information next. Customers just need to chill out and get over themselves. Curbside pickup is easy as you can put in your spot location on your order login or text it. This location also has a wider selection of crown molding that others done near by. I would like to add an employee named Greg who was picking online / curbside orders I'm guessing was super helpful and charming on my last visit. He helped me located some patio furniture that comes in multiple boxes and give us inventory levels at the Randhurst location. So you have to be prepared to carry it into your home or into the elevator to get into your apt. They need a new delivery system or I can't order from there. Asked employees two separate times to call for assistance. We waited in Doors for over an hour before we left without making a purchase. I checked online but the item descriptions were a bit confusing plus I didn't want to wait for delivery. I wanted them immediately. I call Home Depot twice hit the appliance extension and it kept placing me on hold indefinitely , bad sign but hey I get it can be busy. I call back in the evening and get a hold of a gentleman. Explain what I want and ask what's available in store. He responds that I can just shop for it online and figure out what I want to purchase on my own. At this point I'm a bit annoyed at his inability to listen and apathy. I again ask him to explain what's in stock today at the store and the prices. He does and its a limited selection compared to the official HD site AND much more expensive that what was posted. It is only fair for me to update the events after my previous review of the store. I had sent an email to Home Depot corporate which led to an apology email and call from the store manager and corporate customer service. They had sent some one to pick up the 15 buckets of the sealer from home and sent me a $35 gift. Certificate. They had indicated that they will counsel the guy who I had to deal with at the return desk. It turns out the guy is not a manager and just lied to me. Overall I was impressed by their service recovery. So moral is to stay calm when you receive poor customer service and just write to corporate about the incident. read more

Home Depot in Deerfield, IL has just installed a new granite countertop in my kitchen. At first, I hesitated to deal with "big box store" for installation after I read many comments that the best way to do it was an independent fabrication shop. To make my story short I ended up at Home Depot and I have no regrets now. Two installers from the Stone Systems did a wonderful job. I do not know their names but I remember that one professional had a surname Murillo. They both were good pro. Connie, a kitchen designer made my order and communicated with me via emails. My very special thanks go to the Kitchen dept. staff member Lupe, who went far and beyond when there was a confusion which caused some problems and delays with installation. In order to clarify this issue I want to mention that it was not clear when we should remove our old countertop, before the measurement or after. Nobody told us the structure of process. Our own contractor removed it after measurement, and it caused a problem for us. I called to Home Depot and talked to Lupe who was extremely professional and moreover, she has a professional understanding and compassion. Lupe solved our problem, thank you Lupe, you were great. After my first experience with Home Depot in Deerfield for installation I will always use them from now on. I am very satisfied and strongly recommend The Stone Systems contractors for Home Depot for granite installation. Thank you! read more

But the more I learn, the more I understand the reason for all of these. This place is the hallmark of home ownership. I only bought my home on the 8th of November, but have been here more times that I can remember. And I am not sad at all. They give themselves 5 stars on their own website! They're delusional. Long lines and bad advise about 50% of the time. Excellent advise the other 50%. If you know nothing, as I did buying a gas grill, you take a 50/50 chance. I lost. They sold me the wrong type of cylinder even though I had the grill in the cart and as I've learned, a minor visual check would have told them it was the wrong cylinder. That is, unless the gas grill specialist who assisted me knew nothing. You decide. When I just called to double check with the Department Manager, his response was like pulling teeth.
