We had permission to be at this store to sell girl scout cookies, set up through a manager a couple weeks in advanced. We got there and set up where they had told me to over the phone and begun our sales. We sold to one customer and most customers that walked by declined politely and my girl scout always responded "Thank you!" even when being told no. She never asked a second time, just let it be when people walked by. A manager came over to us 15 minutes into the sale saying a customer complained about us soliciting and said we had to leave. I said we had permission to be here, she said she was the one who set it up with me to be there but the store manager said with the complaint we had to leave. Don't invite girl scouts to sell cookies at your business if you are not willing to have them there. It was a complete waste of our time on a beautiful day, we could have been at many other businesses but instead took the time to be at yours. Now having no notice, we cannot be somewhere else for the night and just wasted a day of our sales. I know now that your business does not support Girl Scouts, and I will make sure to let everyone know and in turn we will not be bringing our business to you. read more

I ordered a grill for my boyfriend's birthday, when it was delivered to my house...it did not come in a box. It was already assembled. It looked great from afar. Once my boyfriend and I took a closer look at the grill it was dusty and it looked like it had been in storage for awhile. There was rust on several areas of the grill. There were screws, knobs, and parts missing from the grill. Wires were loose as well. It did not look new whatsoever. I was hoping my boyfriend would be able to use it by tomorrow for his birthday but looks like that won't be happening. Never ordering online or have them deliver anything to my house. read more

The staff at this location have always been great. We really enjoy their classes and monthly workshops for kids. Admittedly, it seems most of their prices are consistently higher than Menards. So shop around before you settle on your purchase destination. read more

oh on my tool exchange quest this was store number 3!! rare bad dewalt tool, no receipt, purchased in Carolinas home depot, but I called home depot cooperate they stated any home depot should be able to exchange it as it was less that 4 months old!! and looked like brand new!! i should to have stopped here first!! pleasant exchange for a new tool!! heck the mfg date code was less than 6 months!! well south east 14th has my biz from now on!! it is all about the right folks in the right job!! you want the nice folks at the customer service jobs!! smiles, willing to help and go the extra mile!! Worst customer service ever! I ordered a stove and a over the range microwave. They were to be delivered two days after I ordered them. I received a call from Home Depot telling me that my over the range microwave would not be delivered with the stove due to being severely damaged. They were going to order me a new one and would deliver it at a later date. Once I got the stove delivered, the delivery man asked me if I wanted the stove taken out of the box or left in the box. I advised he could leave it in the box as we were not installing it until we received the microwave. the microwave was delivered about a week later and again I was asked if I wanted the microwave in the box or out of the box. I advised they could leave it in the box as we would not be able to install it until Sunday. The microwave was delivered on a Wednesday. We open the box on Sunday to install the microwave to find it was damaged on the side and bottom of the microwave. I called Home Depot to report the damages and requested them to send me a replacement. I spoke with Mark the manager who advised me that there wasn't anything he could do for me since I had not open the box within 48 hours. I advised him I was not aware of the 48 hour policy and just wanted a replacement. He directed me to the 1- 800 number of Home Depot and told me that I would have to work with them. I called the one 800 number to be told the same thing that I had to open the box within 48 hours. they offered me a partial refund of $150 for the damages. I told him I didn't want the $150 for the damages and that I wanted a new microwave as I paid $280 for the microwave, and was unable to use it due to it being bent on the bottom frame. after countless calls to the Home Depot 1- 800 number and GE appliances I finally settled for the $150 and I am now out a microwave. Home Depot ran me around in circles for about two weeks until I finally caved in and just took the $150 as it was so frustrating and no one was trying to help me. Home Depot lacks the communication to their customers about the 48 hour policy and they pin damages on their customers. I now have to buy a new microwave and I am out money on the one I already purchased from Home Depot. again, I was never advised of the 48 hour policy from Home Depot. I was not advised when I purchased the appliances in store. I was not advise when the stove was delivered. I was not advised of this policy when the microwave was delivered. There were papers attached to the box for the microwave. On those papers it did not even say anything about a 48 hour policy. It just stated if I had damages I could call the 1-800 number. this is not the way that you should treat your customers. I WILL NEVER SHOP HOME DEPOT AGAIN! read more

Home Depot and Menards in my opinion are pretty interchangeable stores. Other than their interior decor, the products and staff are nearly the same. There are definitely products you may only find in one store or the other, but nothing that is significant enough to mention. This is only applies if you are looking for a specific item. The Home Depot and Menards in Des Moines and Ankeny are right next to each other, so if you are not satisfied with one you can go to the other with no hassle. For those who do not know, these stores sell products and services related to home improvement. I have never had any issues with this location. read more

This is a terrible Home Depot. I am building a house and find myself in this store at least once a week and find most experiences to be loathsome. On a recent weekday visit I was looking to purchase granite or quartz countertops. The young man in the the kitchen/countertop section of the store was very poorly trained and seemed slightly mentally handicapped. On the one hand, it is good to see Home Depot hiring people with disabilities but on the other hand, it probably isn't the best idea to place that person in the kitchen design studio. Needless to say, the young man could not provide any service. He eventually stated that there was another woman for that department that had to help him get into the computer system but he didn't know where she was. He could not remember if she was in that day or had gone to lunch. Then he just stood next to me for a few minutes before I suggested he try paging her. Argh! She never appeared. During the same trip, I needed to purchase some baseboard and window/door casing. I needed an associate to cut the material to length. I had to search the store for an associate. I found a group of associates in another area discussing the stores dismal downturn in sales. I tried politely getting their attention. It took several minutes before one of them decided to postpone their conversation to help me and when he did help he attempted to pick random and very different non-matching pieces of trim in the order when he cut the material. REALLY Home Depot? Can you all really not figure out why sales are down at this store? REALLY? There are only two helpful people in the entire store, a young woman and retired gentleman and they both work in the evenings but I need to get work done during the day so I cannot wait for the pleasure of their brilliant customer service. I suppose I will just have to frequent Menards or go to West Des Moines. read more

Just like many other retailers if you use their card you get a 5% discount. But at Home Depot you have to ASK for it! Wow talk about customer loyalty if you don't know to ask or forget to ask when using Home Depot card it will cost you 5% ! If you forget just go right over to customer service return everything then ask for the 5% discount and buy it back. Wow! read more
