This was my first visit to the Dover Home Depot and I found the staff in the paint department to be very helpful. They took the time to teach me how to locate the specific paint color samples I wanted and which kind of paint would best meet my needs. I went to the Store to purchase and Electric stove and after about 30 minutes of waiting for someone to help, a lady manager came with a bad attitude, she ignored me, then another manager came with an attitude and rejected to sale me the Stove at the final price shown on the sticker. When asked why, the other manager got upset and told me to walk away and leave the store. He then called the police on me. I have been a customer for more then 15 years, never had a problem with anyone, I spent more then $30,000 or more at that location, the manager told me that they don't care and they don't want my business. Went to Home Depot Dover this morning 3/29/25 10:00am, about designing a new construction kitchen. When I said the kitchen was in PR, but that I wanted to get everything done here, and then order in HD PR, I immediately got an attitude. I have several friends that have done the same, and had a very pleasant experience. I got a bad attitude. Lady working on the cabinets said she was very busy and could not help. Funny thing is I went to look at the stoves, fridge and sinks, and she was doing nothing but complaining about a HD customer that wanted a design a kitchen in PR. When I ask for a manager, I got a guy called Dan, who was worse then the lady from the cabinets dept. Almost felt like he was being racist, since my perfect English was not understood by him when I mentioned PR. They need to get it together, no matter what country, Home Depot is Home Depot, consumer is consumer. Customer satisfaction should all be the same. I my self am in the service business. read more

After interacting with helpful team members from different departments, I conclude my shopping experience at the self checkout. The area manager screams out "he has too much stuff so please escort him to a cashier". A self checkout team member dashes over to escort me over. I comply because I'm sort of confused. The self checkout member goes on to say "customers with too much stuff must checkout through a cashier when this amount of items are in your cart.....because you could be too slow." I responded by inquiring even when there is no line and 6 kiosk available? She smiled and said "I'm so sorry, but that's policy". The cashier assisting me stares at me while scanning my items and briefly said "it's not". If these are the practices that will continue, then customer service training needs to increase. read more

I was at the Dover Home Depot rental center on 11/11/22. I was using the rental center there for some home-improvement work and I couldn't of been more pleasantly surprised at how competent and helpful the entire staff was. Not only did they help me get the right tools for the job but while paying I had a bit of a problem with my credit card and the pro shop and the manager were amazing at helping me resolve that problem. Hard to beat the prices and selection here. They have just about everything you could want for home maintenance and repair. The workers all seem to be well trained or are craftspeople moonlighting. I love their paint selections and the garden shop makes my wife smile. Their battery prices are a little higher than Costco (right down the street) and the tools department is (in my opinion) less impressive than Lowes - a bit further out on Rt 46/206. I'm sure pure lumber yards gave better selections of construction items like beams and molding but if you are not looking for anything unique, they probably have it here. Overall, we frequently shop here and have never been disappointed. Kind of a low bar for a 5 star review, but for me, one stop shopping is well worth it. Recommended. read more

If I could give this home depot half a star or none I would. Let me preface by saying that Home depot is not just frequented by contractors, designers etc. The average home owner also shops there and may need assistance. I needed help with finding the proper light bulb. I was able to find a similar one with no help and just by using the process of elimination. I asked a passing employee if she could help me or find someone that could help me. She said someone should be there, - I wanted to reply if someone was there then I wouldn't be here asking for help. She then proceeded to call for someone to my aisle. I waited and waited for 15 mins. Nothing. I walked over to customer service and an older man hobbled over to me. I asked him if he could help me which he mumbled something incoherently then replied someone will help, completely brushing me off. Ah the famous phrase, someone will be there to help. At this moment I was growing increasingly impatient and frustrated. Employees passed me by and never asked if I needed anything. Some were talking to other employees and I didn't want to interrupt their conversation. I dont begrudge this man a job or a living but for the love of God man, home depot should have employees that can reply and put forth effort. After all, it is "customer service" for a reason. I was at the boiling point, having waited for a while with no communication, so I took what I guessed was to be the right bulb and proceeded to the register. An older woman there sees that I'm visibly angry and I told her about the poor customer service and you know what she said? "Someone should have been there." Well guess what? No one friggen showed up. I dont ever want to hear about younger generations not knowing true work ethic or wanting to work bc guess what, neither do retirees working at home depot!! My wife has been on my case for some time now to get some stuff done around the house-just haven't had time...too much driving the little athlete all over the darn state. Anyway, I've been coming to this particular HD since we moved to Parsippany. I like at WAY more than the Parsippany HD and it's easier to get to than the one on Rt. 10 in Hanover. So I went yesterday for what I thought amounted to about 10 minutes of shopping...I knew what I needed, I 'knew' where it was all located so it's a no brainer. Well one of the items I needed wasn't where I assumed it would be (I needed to replace the little track wheels on our shower door). Then it wasn't in the second place I looked...damn, I'm in a hurry. So I do what most guys won't do and I ask a random HD employee if he knows where I can find them...yep, Aisle 14 about halfway down. Thanks! On another note, the folks in the garden section are always helpful and know what the heck they're talking about. Guys in the lumber area are great too-. I really can't find a lot of fault with this HD. I'd probably give it 3.5 stars if I could, but it's a Home Depot where the folks are doing what's expected of them. A-OK!!! read more

I purchased an LG refrigerator in May from HomeDepot.com. My family eagerly awaited for our 7/2 delivery date and although we were all home with the drapes open us sitting by the door, we almost missed the delivery because the delivery guys were on the phone calling us from the other side of the door since they were there early morning. Still was happy and it was delivered and assembled in a short time. We had to purchase a water installation kit so that they can install it but they said they couldn't. No big deal because my husband had experience with that and did it when they left. Before they left, it was making an alert sound and we thought it was just that it wasn't programmed yet but the light behind the smart glass wouldn't shut off. We found out that the light wouldn't shut off because it kept registering that the door was open so it kept sounding off the alert, it wouldn't get cold despite being plugged in for hours, the water wouldn't come out. After hours of being on 2 phones and dialing 4 different numbers, we found out that instead of using the Home Depot closest yo our home they used the one in Dover, NJ to deliver it. We were told that we had to wait a week for the replacement; that day came and there was no email, call or fridge. So on the phones we went. We were told to wait another week with apology after apology. Another week passed and NO FRIDGE! We called LG and Home Depot and was told that we had to wait until the end of August!!! One person was honest and said it didn't matter if the issue escalated because he could give us a delivery date but it wasn't delivered until earliest end of August!! Now after all this time I have my refund but it's NOT OVER YET because they were supposed to come pick it up today. With myself AND my family sitting just a few feet from the front door, 2 driveways (a car in each to show someone IS home, NO call/knock/doorbell ringing...we got a voicemail saying that no one was home??!!! Now they can't even take it away. This big hunk of junk is just sitting here in my home and, guess what, I was told to wait more time before they haul it away!!! This is the ABSOLUTE WORSE EXPERIENCE I HAGE EVER HAD! This was worse than my BOB's Furniture experience! I will NEVER SHOP FROM HOME DEPOT AGAIN!!! They make it seem like they are soooo busy cranking out deliveries for high ticket items like refrigerators during this Covid....Seriously???!!! read more

Worse. Home Depot. Ever. First, I hung around the door area for 10m, looking through the books, looking at the sample doors, etc while two employees sat at the doors counter chatting. Neither asked if I needed help. I went to get my two large garbage cans and came back. No one at the desk. Looked down the aisle and someone asked if I needed help. Told him I'd paid for a door measuring a month ago and hadn't heard back from anyone to discuss estimates for door and installation. He looked me up in their system, found me and said "wrong store" and proceeded to tell me "my store," which I knew but thought I could discuss prices etc while I was at THIS store. "You gotta do everything at that store." Ok. Go to self check out with my two large garbage cans fully expecting to find a scan gun because it is Home Depot after all and most items are bulky or oddly shaped and can't be scanned through the register. I ask the "worker" if she could scan them for me and said "sorry I can't right now." I didn't know what that meant. She was literally standing there, wasting space. So I go back and try to scan the large garbage can, which of course doesn't work. So I leave the one on the floor, leave the other in the cart and walk out of the store, waiving goodbye to the "worker." And at the same time, forced her to work by taking the items back. You're welcome, Home Depot. Pretty sure I've never been inside a Home Depot that refuses to work. Shameful. read more

I had purchased some spray paint but ran out while spraying my project. I went back to the store and of course they had no spray cans left of the color that I needed. I was on a trip in Miami Florida and saw the color I needed in stock at a local Home Depot, I purchased the cans that I needed and took them home. when I got home I went back to the local Home Depot to return the two spray cans that I had purchased there in the hope that they would be a good match for the color that I needed. I did use one of the cans to spray a little bit on the chair to see if it matched. but to my surprised the person at the return counter told me the can was empty. I asked for a manager and she walked with me over to the paint dept. she spoke with the person there and I gave him the can and he said yeah it's empty. the can say's 12. Oz 340g I weighed it on a scale at home it weighed 12.5oz 357g I must assume that they just enjoyed giving people a hard time! (They refused to take the spray can back) shame on them and Home Depot. Today I had a terrible experience with them. I had somewhat of an explosion in my home which it came to be the inside glass of my dryer that had shattered. I called the store 3 times and the last time was on hold for 22 minutes... I was told I purchased the dryer in Paramus which I no longer live there, gave me a samsung number that is incorrect and told me that the warranty I purchased will kick in a year from when I purchased it ( 9/18) This store that does not support the clients in need. customer service is thrown out the window. I'm not the typical Home Depot shopper... I usually go during the spring and fall,seasons. They always have what I need and I can run in and out . I enjoy walking around with my kids and picking out plants inside and out . We also like to go here during Halloween to are the cool stuff ... on the first Saturday of every month they have activity time for kids. This is fun and amazing. They get an apron,with their name on it and a craft to build..like a real craft ..with real nails, hammers and wood !!!! After they are done building they get an award that says what they learned while building it and a special pin to put on their apron ! The staff for these special days are super nice and patient. The kids are all having fun and parents are interacting and helping. Lots of the kids had tons of pins and they were proud to show them to me. This is an awesome idea and good for home depo to do it !! We will continue to go to this and support or local community . This activity is so much fun . I will post pic next time read more

*Based on experience at the Windows/Doors section only* I've been coming to this Home Depot for 10 years. I've had pretty good experiences. But today, had a terrible experience at their Windows/Door section - I was referred to another specialist at the store to address my needs regarding getting a quote for Andersen Windows (as the website has mentioned to go to the nearest dealer for a quote). At first impression of the two men that worked that section, they seemed uninterested to help me and suggested "the store closer to your construction work to help you". As I've mentioned to them, I'm simply looking for an estimate on the windows we need. I have dimensions and style of the windows ready. I have a print out from Andersen Windows website to visually guide them on our needs. Already uncomfortable speaking to them, one sales associate sat down to "help" me and asked me the dimensions of the window, then asking me the 'jam depth' - stating that I simply don't know, I suggested that we just use the standard size so I can get an idea. Arrogantly, he responded by saying "well I can't help you if you don't know that," then started mumbling some lingo and measurements that I obviously won't understand about windows. His tone of voice, body language, and facial expressions were absolutely uncalled for. I don't understand why this place would hire such people who are required to give great customer service. This entire store is about customer service. It's unfortunate he lost a potential client and potentially lost the store an expensive purchase. I would suggest going to another Home Depot for windows/doors service, because clearly at this location their customer service is poor. read more

I went in on Sept 3rd (2 months ago) to purchase a refrigerator and took advantage of the 18 months no interest offer and opened an account, that's where my nightmare begins. When I got my statement there was a charge from a Home Depot in Maryland within an hour of my opening the account. Home Depot's lack of security allowed my credit to be compromised. After reporting it not only did they take over a month to remove the fraudulent charges but they double billed me on my original purchase! Today was my 5th phone call to resolve and was left on hold for so long that my phone died. I've been waiting for a call back for 1/2 now. Most staff members are useless and can't answer questions. One employee even mocked me when I complained about the time for my garage door to arrive. Garage doors take up to 40 days!! All entry doors need to be painted and you are charged up to $700 for installation. Nuts!!! I do also agree with the other person who commented about dogs in the store. There is clearly a sign reading no dogs allowed yet I have witnessed dogs in the store on more than one occasion myself. I am allergic to dogs. What would they do if I had an allergic reaction? I like this home depot because I can usually find stuff on my own. On the other hand whenever I need help in finding a product on the shelves I never can find someone that knows for sure if they have it or not. I end up having to ask multiple associates and still no one is confident if they have the product or not. For ex..specific light bulbs, cleaning products. I'm not sure why they can't just look it up immediately instead of wasting my time running me around the store on a wild goose chase. This has happened to me on multiple occasions. read more

I honestly hate giving bad reviews, but I really felt the need in this instance. I've been here many times and have received great help on some occasions, but also found it very hard to find an associate on other occasions. I have also had very unhelpful associates who vaguely point in the direction I need to go to find something as well as had multiple encounters where it is very obvious to me that the associates immediately judge me to be an idiot based solely on the fact that I am a young female homeowner. However, the reason I am writing this review is my recent experience with the "customer service" department. I ordered a grill online and called the store (per instruction from the person in the online chat) to get them to assemble it before I pick it up, as there was no option to select assembly on the website. Last night, I called and a young man told me the desk was too busy and just took down my name and number. He never called me back. I called today and spoke to a woman who clearly did not want to give me the time of day. She was overtly annoyed that I was calling and I seem to have offended her by making her do her job. She was unhelpful and rude. I have very little faith that I will even receive notification that my order has arrived, let alone that it will actually be assembled. I may need to start going back to the East Hanover Home Depot, even though this one is closer to my house. read more

This place is simply the worst. I have literally walked out with nothing several times after wasting 30 mins just trying to find a clerk. When I did see one and called out to him, he ignored me, clearly too lazy to even engage with a customer. Other times I roam the isles not even finding anyone. Zombie zone. Also, the clerks simply lie. When I asked another home depot about a product, they sent me here after checking they have many of the item in stock. When I inquired about the item, this home depot people lazily said its not in season yet. Only after I showed them thr website, store locator lists this product in stock, they finally looked and found it. Lazy, liars, and usually none of them know anything about the products they sell. Not only do they claim they don't have it...then their bogus 'customer service' claims...oh that's not in the stores anymore and it is only online, and online is sold out too. All bulls__t! Found the item at the Home Depot across town. Even the Lowes in Budd Lake has it. But according to this store, this item is no longer in stores.
