I went in to purchase 2 gift cards both with separate debit cards first purchase went fine and for my second purchase my card was declined , and despite having sufficient funds,I was denied assistance. Your self checkout associate was extremely rude and told me i was no longer able to purchase since my card declined.I felt there was a lack of understanding and support, leading me to believe unconscious bias played a role in how I was treated. The customer service was poor, and I left feeling undervalued as a customer, and as a current manager in retail myself I felt embarrassed that the store lacked basic culture , values and customer empathy . I hope Home Depot addresses these issues to ensure a more equitable experience for everyone. read more

I have usually found great and very helpful staff at this Home Depot. However, my last experience was terrible. Neighbor told me to go to Cerritos but did not listen. I went to order Blinds. The team has no idea what they are doing (except one, who I cannot remember their name). I paid $50 to get measured for blinds, and the company showed me the measurements went immediately over to HD. I was able to find the measurements on my HD account, but the team could not locate them at all. I even had the print out and allegedly that was not acceptable. They did call the vendor to get the measurements but apparently, it was in a different format (eventhough the data needed was there). The staff had no idea how to put the order in the system and had to call the vendor multiple times. The staff could not comprehend, even after drawing multiple pictures; that I had very large windows where each window would have to have 2 shades but 1 valance to cover 1 window. I left to return later in the evening so they could figure it out. 2 team members refused to asssit me. After waiting approximately 1 hour, I requested a manager since I had been waiting for an 1 hour with no update. I hear numerous pages over on the overheard requesting calls to the department. No manager ever appeared. Finally someone assisted me and they stated the mesurments by the vendor were incorrect. Since the vendor was closed at 8pm, they would call the next day, confirm the measurements and return my call. That was approximately a week ago. Now my home project and contractors will be delayed. I now missed the sale which was 50% costing my approximately $2400 more for the blinds (oviously I will not be purchasing these blinds from HD) and it appears I am out the $50 for the measurments. As mentioned, my previous experience as HD has been pretty decent. However, I cannot remember such a horrendous level of customer service that I will have to find another solution than returning to HD - Downey. read more

Went from work today to purchase an interior door around 2pm. I went to the door section and asked an employee sitting at a desk on his phone for help. I showed him the item (screenshot) from the online store and he barely looked and advised me to the wrong isle. When I questioned him again he still didn't look but just gave me a different isle. He didn't help, he didn't ask to see if I needed any additional help. I found the door on my own and loaded it myself, paid and left. Customer service 1 star. read more

Saved the day. Great service. Walked in at 7:30 Sunday night. Yes I know they close at 8:00pm. Went to isle 49 to find some work lights looked for 25 minutes finally had the bright idea of flagging someone down to help. Yvette looked up the item. Way on the other side of the store in a pallet she said. So I'm thinking I'm going to walk away with no solution to my lighting problem. She said how many do you need. She found Sebastian they closed down an isle and brought a lift found the pallet and problem solved. They went above and beyond. By the time I walked out it was 8:15pm. Lots of chaos and workers confusing policy and prices. Key copying price was misquoted and the charge up at the register was like 7 bucks-it's not the master key to the matrix, right? Gloves were priced around 7, but at the register $15... I was told on the phone lockers pick up hours were store hours-actually they are outside and 24 hours. I felt like I entered it's a small world only to find out inside it was a bad maze at Knott's scary farm that was neverending. Pros were the store was extremely clean and orderly on the racks. Staff were nice too. Weekly meetings to get everyone on the same page-and troubleshooting managers to sift through all the conflicting info, signs, employees need to be aware of the actuality. I gave up on the gloves just paid double as pushing my wheelchair around was exhausting. Their books at tax time must seem like April fool's day. The neglect and confusion was sinful. read more

I come to this Home Depot often due to convenience. I try to look for my own things even if I have a question as some workers there don't have the best attitudes or slack in customer service skills but today I had a question and I was fortunate enough to have Crystal from The Loss and Prevention department help me out. She was the best. She actually asked me if I needed help and got on her phone quickly to make a call and get a person in charge to help me out. She didn't know what aisle we were in so she ran to go check the aisle number and in less than 3 minutes she had the person in charge ready to help me out. Upper Management needs to give Crystal a raise! A worker who truly wants to help out and understands helping the customer is what their service is all about deserves to be taken care of. Take a few dollars away from those who hate their job and give it to Crystal!!!! Stay on top of your game Crystal and Thank you for the fast response. Great effort. read more

Few weeks ago this store installed video cameras by the check out registers. One would wonder, for what purpose? Here is my take: when they capture your image and your credit card at the same time, the information they sell is much more valuable since any user who have face recondition system, can now have access to you finances, so basically you are walking with your wallet open. this is a new level of privacy evasion and I despise Home Depot for doing that. if I need to visit HD, I use the contractors register where they do not have the video camera or I ask a cashier to check me out while I stand at the side of the register where the camera cannot capture my image. read more

Went in the garden section not knowing what I needed . I saw a worker there and he was ready to help me out with not asking him first , super cool , ask about my dry grass spot in my yard , he told me what are my options and I took he's advice and got a square foot of grass and chicken manure that he said was best , I go there often but lumber section never garden but I feel if he is there next time I will ask for him to help me again , he's name was Freddy with the cool hair cut , on the way out I found the manager and had a talk with me also and he was super cool also , thanks Home Depot for a great experience for something that I have no idea how to fix , will be back for more dyi projects ,, read more

Aswell as gave attitude and laughed at other customers complaining about the poor service a family reported to the coach from Cashiers. EASY MONEY, DAYDREAMER: The big question is could Elizabeth care any less about her job when it comes to whether or not the customer found what they needed? Not unless she flatlined and even then it would be questionable. FIRST TRY: I brought a product up to customer service to ask if the employee, Elizabeth, could find out about the current stock/quantity of the same item with different dimensions. She flat out said no. WAIT... WHAT?!?! SECOND EFFORT: I asked her again and she said maybe the cashiers could and promoted the impression that she couldn't (or wouldn't) without actually saying it in those precise terms. THIRD ATTEMPT: I asked her again and added into the equation an additional inquiry. I asked if she could get online and see the inventory (at home I checked. It said there were 4 of the desired items in stock and yet I found none in the store. I dare not ask Elizabeth about that... baby steps with her). RIDING CROP REQUIRED: It did take my insisting that she could check the inventory to get her motivated enough to log on (my phone was almost dead at this point). So, she gets to the Home Depot home page, you know the place she said she couldn't get to the first two times I asked... ATTENTION DEFICIT: Next, I told her three times the dimensions that I sought. She couldn't focus and she never really looked at the sticker of the item... so she goes off searching for the wrong item. Not wanting to be over her shoulder but, also not wanting to be in the store all night, her actions forced me to say to her "You mistyped the brand and the name of the item in the search field. With my help she gets it right after selecting two improper brands. DO NOTE: The brand name is ON THE STICKER of the item IN HER HAND (you truly can't make this up). Well, I guide her to the proper item on the screen then she scolds me for crossing the yellow line (I wanted to scold her for making me do her job due to her all too obvious inability to properly define customer service as intended by the Home Depot. NEWSFLASH: Customers do not wake up excited to head to Home Depot each day to be Elizabeth's training wheels. During the yellow line rule fracturing she reminded me of Eugene Levy's character in the movie Serendipity....Annoying. YELLOW LINE NOTE: I am fully and properly, both mouth and nose, masked and wearing a shield at the time of our interactions. FUN WITH COWORKERS: At some point during the inventory search, while she could not focus, she busts out laughing. I am startled and concerned for her mental well-being at this point. Then, I realized that she is fine. She had just been paying attention to some of her coworkers who were making jokes about something. This explains why she wasn't paying attention to what I was saying and truly highlighted her inability to properly search for the stickered item next to her forearm. To thebnestbof my knowledge wasting customer's time is not a job title here, is it? MANAGEMENT NOTATION: I am baffled when I think how this person made it to the position that she is in. For the consideration of any and all Home Depot Downey customers, you really need to consider finding her strong suit because giving negative Homer pins doesnt exist... yet. END GAME: I have money. I WANT TO BE A HOME DEPOT CUSTOMER but, how can I if I begin to think of Elizabeth as the future of DHD customer service? Perhaps as part of my stand against this type of failed employee behavior/conduct I will post my Pico Rivera Lowes receipts within my collection of Downey Home Depot Yelp photos. You can tell by the amount of feces that it's been a problem for some time. Diseases associated with pigeon droppings include Cryptococcosis, Histoplasmosis and Psittacosis. For example, I recently placed a large order at the customer service section and everyone was so patient and helpful. He's knowledgeable, friendly, professional, & cares to assist the customer. So frustrating! We've spent thousands of dollars at Home Depot in the past few months with our move, about a month ago we were in there trying to get a stacking washer dryer set with no luck, our associate tried EVERY single set and one piece or the other was available but the other piece was on back order for weeks, we spent 2 hours there and when she finally found a set .. guess what? The hardware was one back order! Useless !! Today my son texted me a link for a Gorilla ladder that is on sale and out of stock at all the Home Depot's we searched.. this one specifically said the Downey store had limited stock and I need to go in person, no way to buy online.. so I rushed over there and as soon as I walked in I tried asking the guy at the door where the item was, he didn't look at my phone he asked what is it? I said a ladder, he pointed me to the left side for Corner of the store where I rushed over to anxiously get my item... when I got to the location there was a handful of stepstools, I walked over to another associate and showed him my ad and he pointed me to the other side of the store the aisle 27 where the ladders are.. I got there to the aisle and started searching for my ladder and it wasn't there so I found an associate and asked if he can help me and he just said if it's not there we don't have it, I said well can you please call somebody because on your website it says you have some in stock, he called for assistance on mile 27 and I stood there for 10 minutes. I then went up to the front of the store and asked to speak to a manager I showed her my ad from the website and she said oh no we just don't have those we sold out , I said look it shows you have some.. she replied she was sorry but no they don't, then she said I am 100% sure we don't have them but I'll have this guy go check for you.. I said well if you're 100% sure you don't have them why is he going to go look for it? It was the one thing that I really wanted and I was so disappointed. I stopped by here to get a couple keys made. I had the pleasure of meeting Angel, an associate that works in the hardware department. While making my keys, I was able to speak with Angel about his duties at Home Depot. Angel initially started off as a maintenance staff member and kept hearing over the intercom, "associate in hardware." After continuously hearing that, Angel approached his manager about applying for that position. Fast forward several months, Angel is looking forward to celebrating his first year anniversary in working in the hardware department. His desire to assist people and ensure a safe shopping and work environment for others definitely warrants this review of his actions and abilities at the Home Depot. read more
