I had already been waiting for quite a while, and only two cashiers were working. He walked over to a third register, and it appeared he was opening it. He made eye contact with me several times, so it was clear he knew I was waiting. After about five minutes, he motioned to a gentleman who arrived after me and took him first. There was no way he didn't realize the order of the line. After assisting that customer, he finally looked up and told me he could help me at his register. At that point, I declined -- the situation was handled poorly, and I was frustrated. I won't be returning to this location. For contrast, the Ace Hardware in La Crescenta is consistently professional, friendly, and a pleasure to shop at.

They will guide you through the a-la-carte screws, nails, nuts, and bolts with expertness, making sure that the style, strength, and size of the hardware fits your project's needs. The prices for most items are competitive with big box stores-- items like PVC pipe, wood filler, and hardware are cheaper at Altadena Hardware in a side-by-side comparison to big box stores. If you purchase materials like wood or pipe, they can cut it for you for transport! The selection of paint, hardware, garden supplies, light bulbs, power tools, adhesives, and most other typical household hardware needs are excellent. Based on size, they don't stock as much lumber or appliances as big box stores. Very helpful -- they do cartridge exchange for Soda Stream!! And have many options of Soda Stream flavorings. They also sell local honey up at the cash register! Altadena Hardware is my first choice for hardware needs!

We were fine with that, but then she told us that any return would incur a 20% restocking fee. I asked her about the fee if the item was dead on arrival -- meaning if it didn't work right out of the box -- and she said we would still have to pay the restocking fee. That really confused me. She kept using the words exchange and restocking fee in the same sentence, so I asked, "If Harbor Freight sells us a broken item, we have to pay Harbor Freight a restocking fee?" Instead of clarifying, she got defensive, saying "If Harbor Freight sold broken items, we wouldn't be in business," and told me to "read the words coming out of her mouth." Well, lady, your words weren't making sense. Finally my dad tried to clarify and asked if exchanges are free and if only refunds have a restocking fee, and she said yes. But up until that point, she had never used the word refund, which is why I was so confused and frustrated. All this while she kept trying to collect our phone numbers and continuing to warn us about losing our receipt. I didn't catch her name, but as a Sales Manager I'd expect her to explain policies more clearly and professionally. Harbor Freight should really improve training so situations like this don't happen.

You will walk a few steps and people actually come and ask if you need help. It is not uncommon for 2 or 3 people to actively come up to you and ask if you need help. How's that for Home depot. it is unusual isn't it?? I feel that this location should be the training ground for other home depot employees. ALL HOME DEPOTS should be like this store. One thing though, can home depot's fix their credit card machines and allow tapping for payment??? seem like every store has this issue.
