My husband was followed around your store today like a criminal for absolutely no reason, and the experience was disgusting. The moment he walked into Home Depot, an employee immediately looked him up and down and asked if he needed help. He politely said no and headed toward the plywood section. Since he was only grabbing a few things, he didn't take a cart at first. The same employee approached him again insisting he should get one. My husband again said "No thanks." From that point on, the employee proceeded to follow him throughout the store, standing at the ends of aisles watching him as he shopped. Feeling uncomfortable, my husband bounced between sections before finally grabbing a cart. He then went into the garden section and briefly left his cart outside the doors while picking up a few plants. When he came back, the employee was actively inspecting the contents of his cart. At this point my husband called me because he felt so uncomfortable and targeted that he wanted to leave the store altogether. I told him to just check out through garden to avoid the employee, so he did. He paid in full, completed his transaction, and thought the situation was over. Instead, while loading his purchases into his car, the same employee followed him outside and accused him of stealing. My husband, embarrassed and cornered, felt he had no choice but to show his receipt and prove every item had been paid for. We shop at this location almost weekly. We recently purchased all of our appliances from this store. To be treated this way as paying customers is beyond unacceptable. Following someone around the store, watching their every move, inspecting their cart, and then confronting them outside after they've already paid is vile behavior. Home Depot has loss prevention staff for a reason. Employees should not be acting like self-appointed anti-theft vigilantes while harassing innocent customers trying to shop. This experience was humiliating, unnecessary, and completely unacceptable. read more

I got LES light bulbs for a decent price, but the lighting section smelled like an old ashtray and that was pretty gross. They didn't carry the replacement glass globe for a lighting fixture I needed, either. They do have a great selection of appliances if you're in need of one. No one asked if we needed any help. TBH I didn't see any other employees other than one assisting at the self-checkout. Glad this isn't the closest big box store to me. It felt lacking. read more

They've got a big 'ole parking lot! I parked close to the farm next door and enjoyed looking at the horses. So peaceful! Home Depot is pretty much the same layout wherever you go. It's easy to find staff if you need help. I had my phone though, and if you look up the item on their website, you can find the aisle that it's located in for your particular store location. I found air filters and twine pretty quickly! I used the self checkout and was outta there in a jiffy. Not sure when I'll return, but it's almost therapeutic to hang out at a hardware store! read more

A good buying experience turned into a horrible delivery experience. Bought a washer and dryer. Associate was really nice and helpful. Scheduled delivery and installation. Delivery day comes. I was off work and home. Wife was home and working. Driver did not call 30 minutes in advance like he was supposed to do. Apparently, we're not sure it was him, he called my wife's cell phone upon arrival. She was on a conference call and didn't see it ring in. He didn't leave a message. He also claims to have knocked on the door. We didn't hear it. Our dogs didn't hear it. He didn't ring the doorbell. He left. Wife tried to call the number back, no answer. So she called Home Depot. "Nothing we can do." So now we have to wait another 8 days for the delivery. Maybe buy here but don't do delivery/installation. Yeah, I know it's a contracted company. Without their information, and with Home Depot using them, Home Depot is ultimately responsible for this debacle. Beware. read more

I needed more of a home item that was discontinued at the usual store I get it at, and I found out that Home Depot had them online. I headed over after confirming that the website stated they had some in stock. Alas, I was apparently not the only person on the hunt for them, as all I found was an empty shelf when I arrived. It did, however, have the right tag on it, so it was nice to know the aisle/bin numbers provided on the website lined up with what was in the store. Since I was already there, I decided to check out a few other sections. Everything was nicely organized and well displayed, with a good selection. This location did still have some of the free Kids Workshop kits for June available, so that was a pleasant surprise. There is plentiful parking available in the shopping center lot. read more

Probably a great place--unless you want help. I made the decision today to purchase a new suite of kitchen appliances. After researching my options, I chose to got to Home Depot on Sawmill Road in Columbus, Ohio to look at the options to which I'd narrowed my choices and to order my new appliances. I was looking at the dishwasher I thought I wanted, but wanted to see the other options. There really weren't many. As I looked through the department, one woman was on a computer, one man was with a customer at the desk, and another woman walked through drinking her drink. I continued to look around to see if I could answer my own questions. A little later, the woman with the drink looked at me and then walked away. "Can you tell me if anyone is working in this area?" I asked her. She literally huffed and told me "I am, but I'm with someone" (she wasn't with someone). I told her, "Okay, well go do what you need to do." Then I left. What the serious hell? Genuinely, I never shop at Home Depot, but the deals you all were listing for appliances were appealing. I fully anticipated to walk in, be greeted, and have someone help me answer my remaining questions. I always try to empathize--maybe they were slammed? Maybe she wasn't feeling well? Maybe something was distracting her. But genuinely, to have her look right at me and walk away was a genuine lapse in common courtesy. If she had said let me know that she is interested in helping me if I can just hold on for a moment--or had asked if she could answer a quick question--or anything that helped me feel like I wasn't inconveniencing her by being in her department, it would have made all the difference. As it is, I am confident that I will not return to Home Depot to make such a big purchase. As a customer, I never like to thread that negative energy into my home improvement projects. I would imagine that, if someone in management knew this was how the appliances department responded to people shopping for appliances, they would not approve. I DID try to call customer service (I never got through) and the store manager (I was told he's too busy to take a call. I asked for him to call me back, but am not optimistic that he will). read more

Dear Home Depot on Sawmill...let's play a game called-never will I ever, I'll go first. Never will I never give you one more red cent. After driving 30 minutes WITH my 15 month old son in tow-to your specific location, knowing what I need, inventory SHOWING not one or two or three items in inventory...a power tool, Father's Day weekend...online inventory showing 9-10+ pieces EACH, just put it in your cart and pick it up in the store is what your website says. Ha! Considering it's father day weekend your buyer probably should have expected power tools to be in demand and floor staff should have done a better job at keeping end caps/displays full with what was STORED in the upper bays...especially the items that were ADVERTISED ON THE FRONT PAGE OF YOUR CIRCULAR! But your staff, most specifically Charlie-who self-proclaimed that because was an employee who's been there the longest of anyone he "knows" his department=power tools, he and ONLY he knows best. Tell Charlie he don't know Jack! First, he advised me that the item I was looking for (Makita drill-standard stock) could ONLY be ordered online-quickly dismissing me. Not...hey you can go to the customer service desk and they can assist with ordering and having it shipped direct to you. Just...nope, not available, gotta' order online and started to walk away from me. I realized instantly he was looking to go home. He couldn't have been any less interested in doing anything remotely close to helping me. Even AFTER going to the customer service desk and asking for an associate from power tools to help me-Guess who come strolling by? You guesses it...can't be bothered Charlie...who I then needed to ASK to bring over a ladder to look at what was stored in the upper bays. He just stood there...looking at me, after bringing the ladder over he just stood there, didn't bother to go up and let me know what they have. Nope. Just stood there and finally asked...well which one do you want? it was at this point that I gave up. I had said to him at least a half dozen times...I'd like a Makita brand drill. A better than average one that can handle all kinds of jobs. It didn't have to be the advertised special for $99. If I needed to spend $150 or even $200 it was to be a Father's Day gift so money wasn't the concern-quality was. I practically BEGGED him to sell me good option. A blank stare was what I got. And that was when I was done and dismissed him letting him know I realized he was more concerned about getting out of there than helping me. ***also Makita stock in the aisle is locked up so unless you can find what you need on the end cap you HAVE to ask for help. Did I mention there are also cameras that ring and go off in this area that monitor traffic??? Yet-I couldn't get anyone to actually help me. BTW...after my second interaction with can't be bothered know-it-all Charlie I went BACK to the front desk and asked for the GM's name. The guy behind the desk although apologetic also didn't bother to say...hey, if we have the product...let's make this right and get you what you need. Nope. I called today and was transferred to the appliances dept. A gentlemen answered and I explained that I was looking to buy a washing machine and having trouble with the web site and another location was out of stock. Before I could finish my sentence, he jumped in to tell me "well I can't order anything. We don't have stock in the store, we'be never had any in stock in the x (I can't remember the number he said) number of years I've worked here. It's because of covid, and parts come from Mexico and China". Quite honestly, I was taken aback at how aggressive he was being. I cut in to ask how I was supposed to request if I could buy something bc I felt like I was getting the runaround. He replied that "he would never do that bc HE'S A CHRISTIAN" (he shouted this). Apparently declaring your Christianity aggressively means you get the benefit of the doubt in the face of icky behavior. At this point, I reminded him that he didn't even ask which washing machine I was calling about so I don't know how he was so certain that it wasn't available. As he started backpedaling, I decided I wasn't going to spend that much money at a company that thinks this level of customer service is ok, told him "never mind, I'll call Lowe's" and hung up on him. He was looking for a reason to tell me no and why before he even let me ask for what I wanted. How do you know you can't order the washing machine I want when you didn't even ask which one it was? He had gotten a cart, loaded a door, and left after being frustrated that no one was there to help him. We went into the Home Depot 5 min before 6pm on Easter and heard an announcement that they were about to close at 6pm due to Easter so we hurried and grabbed all the stuff and checked out at the Customer Service area when all of a sudden we heard a lady 10 feet behind us saying,"We're f***ing closed....get them out..... I'm not scared of them", and noticed it was either a manager or a supervisor wearing white and not in uniform, talking about some customers that had just walked into the store. Then the cashier that was ringing up our stuff started chatting with the cashier next to her saying, "I can't believe how bluntly those guests just walked in", right in front of us. HD wifi wrecks my phone. Since most of us have our phone in our hand. I find it an inconvenience that every HD that I enter, I have to turn off wifi. If you try to use it, it fails, and keeps spinning. So they also match prices, and give military discounts. That's the primary reason that they are my go to box hardware. It's perfect if I know what I need to get. Extension cord, wheelbarrow, pliers, leaf bags. Granted if you have hardware questions, it's a pot shot. For those answers I go to a real hardware store. Obetz is fantastic. I have attended a class on laying tile. I knew most everything, but picked up 2 valuable tools of knowledge about cutting, and clean up. I see the classes for kids to build stuff scheduled regularly. What a great thing for parents/grand parents to entertain kids. As far as help goes, they are always asking when you say "no thank you". On the other hand, they are always busy or unseen when you need help. That's just Murphy's Law. When checking out, try to not use self serve. People need jobs. Show your ID to get your discount, and your "Thank You!". read more

I needed a few items for a home emergency and was told you can find needed items here. I usually go Zettler for hardware needs so I don't shop here that often. And lets be honest, I am not the most handy guy around; sure I can do minor maintenance, fix a creaky door or two, change breaks on the bike. But no way can I replace a counter top or install a new sink. One surprise is that the store has items other than construction supplies and tools. It has a lot of items for the home, some for health and safety. They have trash bag prices that rivals Sam's club, and great deals on soap and detergents. Their pest control selection is beyond other stores, and they have lots of lawn and gardening needs--I wish I had time for a vegetable garden, or the skill. The place is Yuuuge( there I did it, I spelled huge with a Y. Can we stop with this annoying trend?) it is easy to get lost. You kind of need a GPS to navigate the forest of front doors, and the oceans of paint supplies. They need to have their restroom positions marked in the store; they are hard to find. I asked for directions to them, only to find toilets on display. I didn't do it, but I was tempted. The staff was very helpful. And I left with what I needed without destroying my account. Normally I sneer at big box stores for what they do to neighborhoods and small biz. But it is nice to have a place to get stuff other may not have. If it becomes more community-centric I'll up the rating to five. read more

I rarely buy plants at their Garden Center because they only carry over-priced branded plants. They generally have miscellaneous warped lumber for 70% off regular price. read more

Did you know that if you bought an appliance from Home Depot that if it's longer than 48 hours they're out of it, you calL the manufacturer? They are no longer Involved? Lowe's is 30 days and Best Buy is 14 days? Where do I begin. Bought a LG fridge, got it home. only had it in my house for about 5-6 days. I didn't know that these stores don't help you, they're paying their crappy merchandise into the manufacturer. Called the manufacturer, all of my food defrosted ( have yet to be reimbursed for That. Said they would come and before the tech got to my home, a compressor was at my door via FedEx. The tech one question I asked him "why is there a part at my front doorstep when you've not even looked at the refrigerator yet? " He said "these are known to have compressor issues and we have them on site before we get here". Why would you sell junk like that to begin with? This was a $1500 refrigerator, not A $4000 one, but it was a lot for me. The tech said that the motherboard was fried. They then came and got the refrigerator, and when I called corporate, number provided below, they said the manager can send a check out or you will get it less than five days. Now the manager this whole time, JESSE, was less than cordial and less than helpful. Bucking me at every turn, Let this be a lesson to me, as my daughter said LG is nothing but junk, she was right. Though I renovated a place in Phoenix (successfully, even) I still find I get better service if I act like a total bimbo (and dress the part). Game Plan: -Look totally out of place in 4" heels and a dress -Talk on your cell phone loudly about how you're at the "hardware" store and you don't know what you're looking for. Invariably, 15 seconds into this conversation, one of the usually sexy men in an orange vest will approach you and lead you to what you need -When said worker is explaining product assembly to you, say "so, like what's a wrench" or something similarly topical and ridiculous Outcome: -You'll be in and out of the store in 10 minutes, tops. -The lovely workers will have assembled whatever thing you were going to buy that required aforementioned wrench to put together -If you play the part well enough, they'll probably load it into your car Bonus Points: -Accidentally or not (though accidentally in my case), pick up a tool off the ground in an attempt to help the workers and realize hours later that this action caused you to flash the other worker helping. I was told that everything was in stock and ready to go only to have half of my stuff. The person at my car wasn't helpful at all and was apathetic to everything. Very disappointing! Staff followed my Hispanic husband all over the store. Not to offer help. Nobody offers help finding things when he is in the store shopping. However they Surround him at the self checkout and asked him ... "what was going on" Didn't ask how they could help? Didn't offer any help... just bullied him until he was sent home... completely deflated and without the $16 dollar item they thought he was stealing. My husband is a very honest man. He has never stolen a thing. He stopped at the corner of a shopping center in the dead of winter and took his coat off gave it to a homeless man and drove away. Today he was treated like a criminal, without committing a crime! In today's world this comes as a shock to me. My husband got to this location realized he didn't have his wallet. Before going in he did a quick search to see if they take Apple Pay. The post dated 3 years ago said they did. He walked in and asked if they take Apple Pay. The clerk said no, we are told this frequently and some staff members just don't realize that they are capable of taking Apple Pay (at many companies). At this time he thought, I'm gonna go grab the item and see if it's gonna work. This is when the same clerk that said no... followed him. Then he along with several others surrounded him and bullied him until he left. At no point did someone say, Sir I don't think it's going to work but feel free to try... or even how can I help you.! They stood very close, to close for social distancing ... and kept getting more and more rude. He was nervous, and upset and couldn't even concentrate... he got home more upset than I have ever seen him! We will not be back! If you want to give money to these racists... do so! Today was my last trip to the Home Depot on Sawmill Rd. Not only am I a "Contractor Pro" I spend 10's of thousands of dollars with Home Depot every year on my super high interest rate credit card from them too. Not anymore. I was picking up some 2x4's and plywood for a customer I'm doing work for, and the whole rack of 2x4's had black mold growth. I took them off my cart and decided to just get the plywood I needed. The plywood was a shelf higher than I could reach so I stood on a wood pallet and began pulling the couple sheets back towards me that I needed. I hear a very stern GET OFF THE WOOD!!! YOU CANT DO THAT he said, instead of hey sir can you please not stand on the pallet, and let me give you a hand when I'm done with this customer. Nope. He just yelled across the aisle in a very unprofessional manner. Customer service is huge to me, and this was the straw that broke the camels back. I'm more the type who likes to go in knowing what I need, walk around until I find it, and then get out and get out and back to whatever project I'm shopping for. That said, I've never had a bad experience at this Home Depot. The layout of the store was easy to learn, and things are usually where I expect them to be, and with self-checkout, I usually have the quick and easy experience I prefer. However, when I have needed to ask to find something, the staff has always been friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Their returns counter is quick and painless, with no-questions-asked refunds to my credit card. All-in-all, a very satisfactory shopping experience. read more

Bought a brand new Frigidaire fridge from here. It was non-functional the day we bought it (20 degrees in the fridge, humidity everywhere, and leaked water) so I called Frigidaire to fix it. Huge mistake. Home Depot has a terrible policy that you must call them within 48 hrs or they will not take it back. So now after near daily calling Frigidaire for 3 months, Frigidaire has finally determined the fridge is not-fixable and gave a store credit for Home Depot for it to be replaced. Frigidaire says Home Depot will replace/install/remove the old fridge for free. Home Depot says they will only refund the original purchase price (that we timed for a good sale price) and I have to come into the store and repurchase a fridge and pay for them to haul away the broken one. Terrible communication by both companies. Their policy's don't align like they say they do. Not having a fridge for this long in our home has had terrible impacts on the health of my family. I would never purchase an appliance from Home Depot or buy a Frigidaire again. Nightmare. read more

I have worked here in the past. This store is not the worst, but a recent incident put into perspective just how unwilling to keep a loyal customer this store's management really is. Please see my review for Water Heaters Plus to get a bit of backstory, but what basically happened is this: I tried to get a water heater install through The Home Depot, it did not happen because of some sensitive little crybaby at Water Heaters Plus taking issue with valid questions that I asked... even though he was actually the rude one. To the offending party: newsflash, genius- the customer is coming to you and paying you MONEY even if through an intermediary... you are not entitled to more respect than the customer. You owe the customer ALL RESPECT POSSIBLE because of the fact that they are helping keep you afloat, even if you think its a drop in the bucket. A month went by and I finally found out why I couldn't get the install, which was that "they just won't do it" because of how they thought they were treated. I didn't treat anyone badly at all... I asked perfectly normal questions about a service being done in my home. The managers at this Home Depot store made many promises about backing me up and getting this situation resolved for me, but today one of them whom I had never spoken with before (to my recollection) told me that it wasn't going to happen. Again, multiple manager types assured me before today that the contractor would be straightened out and I could get my water heater install- but it never happened. So, to clarify- this particular Home Depot store decided to alienate a customer who would bring them thousands (possibly tens of thousands) of dollars worth of business in the future... rather than put their unprofessional contract service in check. Big Fish is greater than Little Fish, I get it okay? But I used to live in Texas, and I don't recall such horrible customer service as what I have experienced in general since moving to Columbus.. however, this contractor used by the Sawmill Road Home Depot takes the cake. If that cake is made of whatever the scum of the Earth uses to fuel their awful behavior. And that contractor, as I mentioned before- is WATER HEATERS PLUS. Installers, I am not talking about you- I respect anyone who works hard for a living and doesn't just sit by a phone. (I make only a few exceptions to that rule) If the person who I am talking about reads this review, he will know who I am referring to and that is good enough for me- you deserve to lose business sir. May your workers scold you heavily for such flagrant idiocy. The Home Depot does not deserve to lose business IMO. I have had a lot of good experiences at Home Depot stores over the years, and it is truly a shame that this one sees fit to allow a badly behaved contractor to ruin a customer relationship with them. I loved walking around the store looking at tools, marveling at how little some employees knew about said tools, standing aghast at the amount of time it took to get a professional in a specific department to magically appear, and wondering why things were out of stock so often. Yes, these jabs are specific to the Sawmill store. And now, I will stop defending The Home Depot as an institution. I will not shop there any longer, unless some miracle smashes into the store manager's head and he calls the aforementioned contractor on their BS. Congratulations to the Sawmill Home Depot in willfully throwing away what could have been $20,000 in total business from one customer over the next five years... awesome choice guys! No one would look at me. The girl that I asked for help had no idea where air filters were. While I was walking around they fenced me into an aisle and then when I asked to get past they shrugged. I finally got out and went to check out. The guy at the self scan told me I didn't understand why getting a Home Depot credit card was what was best for me (all I wanted was an air filter) and then never mentioned the filter had a magnetic security strip on it. My fridge gave symptoms of being on the fritz. I ordered a new one in July, but with things the way they are during the pandemic, it wasn't due to arrive till the end of September. On August 9 (a Monday morning), I opened my fridge and the butter was soft. It was done. I couldn't wait 7 weeks. I found a new fridge that I liked almost as well as the original that could be delivered in 2 weeks. I ordered from Home Depot. Was given a date (2 weeks later), and the evening before they gave me a delivery window of 12:30 to 4:30pm (with the promise of a half hour call ahead). I moved heaven and earth to be ready for that new fridge (single mom, with a dog and full time job). I cleaned out the freezer (which was thankfully still working), took the dog to doggie daycare, and cleared my afternoon work schedule. They showed up at 11am and left a note. When I got home and saw that, I called. Spent 57 minutes on the phone trying to get them to come back. Was told it would be much later and that I'd get a half hour call ahead. Trying to recoup some work time, I went back to work. Got a call. Answered it and said I'd be there in 7 minutes (that's how far my work is from home). They said they wouldn't wait and made me reschedule for two days later. I will never, ever, order from Home Depot again. Almost wish I'd waited 7 weeks and gotten the fridge from Lowes. read more

DO NOT ORDER CURBSIDE OR PICKUP - worst customer service ever. I've ordered many times, each time I've gotten weird attitudes from employees and a ridiculously long wait between getting to the store and being able to leave with my items. This last time, I ordered multiple bags of topsoil for curbside pickup, I got there and waited for a whomping 25 minutes before leaving WITHOUT my order. At one point an employee came to my car and told me to pull over to the mulch pit and a manager would be out soon. I did that and it started to rain (after being in the parking lot for 15 minutes already) and finally I called the customer service desk to ask if someone was going to bring me my order and they said they couldn't because it was raining. I got an email saying "thanks for picking up your order" even though I never got it. I called back this morning explaining what happened and asked if I could come to pick up my soil, the manager said she'd put it aside for me and make sure to tell other employees that I'd be coming by. I even told her the time I'd be coming, now I'm here, I called to check in, the employee I spoke with had no clue what I was talking about and said "ok well I'll be out within a few minutes... hopefully." It's been 15 minutes and I have zero faith that I'll be getting this top soil. I will no longer be shopping here. read more

THINKING ABOUT HAVING YOUR BATHROOM REMODELED BY HOME DEPOT, YOU NEED TO READ THIS! On July 28, 2015 we signed an agreement to have our bathroom remodeled. Store No. 3831. The total price was $47,500. We wrote a check for $23,750 and the second payment was to be after we measured which we paid another $23,750. The anticipated date of installation shown on the agreement was 10-12 weeks, in other words around Oct 6. We are very busy people, but did not want to hold this project up so we rearranged our schedule to go visit all the vendors we were asked by Jeff to visit and pick out tile and stone samples, etc. On October 20th we started calling and emailing our sales rep Jeff Matoltsy because no one had yet to even give us a start date. He did not reply to the emails or return any of the many calls we left. We contacted the store manager and finally some time around the first week of November. We finally got a call from the Installation Manager, Keith Johnson. He told us that they were very sorry, the guy that was managing our account dropped the ball and had been fired. He asked us to give Home Depot a second chance even though nothing had been ordered yet and we were already past the time that the job was supposed to have been completed. He said they would begin the job in three weeks. Which would put it around the fourth week of November. The fourth week of November came and went and nothing had been started. We again left numerous messages for both our sales rep Jeff and the Installation Mgr, Keith and neither has returned any of our calls or emails. Finally this past Friday, December 11th we called Home Depot's Customer Care Department. Tryanne was the representative we spoke to. He seemed very nice and he convinced us to give Home Depot a third chance. He told us that he was going to get everyone "moving and shaking" and he would immediately contact the District Manager and we should expect a call that evening and he would follow up after the weekend on Monday. That was three weeks ago and once again we've heard from no one. One December 16th we received an email from the Home Depot Customer Care Department asking for feedback concerning our recent call to Customer Care. We sent this exact same message to Customer Care. That's been more than two weeks and once again we heard back from no one. We told the sales representative that we did not feel comfortable paying for a job in full before the job was even started and he assured us that this is "Home Depot" we are dealing with and we could trust you. It has been more than five months since all this started. You've had our money, no one has returned any of our calls or have replied to our emails and not one thing has been done with the project. We would have had better luck with hiring a fly-by-night company than the great "Home Depot." read more
