Always my first choice for my hardware/grilling needs. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Dan was a huge help when grabbing a grill from the Weber demo this past weekend. They have a great selection of rubs and bqq sauces in the grill area that you won't find anywhere else in town. Equipment rental is clutch when I may need a specific tool for a job instead of buying it. I've been coming here as long as I can remember. When I was a kid we went to the other location on North Main St. I've heard some say they are "pricey" compared to the big box stores in town. That may be true but the variety, selection of hard to find items and hometown customer service is what has made me keep going back as well as many others. I'm concerned the latter of those reasons may be fading. Unfortunately, this seems to be the new norm in places providing customer service. I went in there last week to pick up a few things and luckily I knew what I needed and where most of it was located. The two cashiers avoided eye contact with me and the Associate sitting at what I think is the paint desk was oblivious that I was even in the store because she never once looked up from her phone. As I made my way through the store I went by the "help desk". This Associate wasn't much help because he also was too busy scrolling through his phone. He did at least look up very briefly and then right back to the important task at hand of scrolling through his phone. (not even a can I help you find anything?) I located everything I needed (thankfully I was able to do it without assistance because then I would have been an inconvenience to them) and made my way up to the checkout registers, you guessed it ! both of them were scrolling through their phones and I felt like I was interrupting their important TikTok videos or whatever they were looking at. I hear a lot that all you see these days are teenagers always on their phones. Well I was in there about 10 am on a Wednesday and the teenagers were in school. These were adults that weren't interested in doing the job they are paid to do. Of course some of this apathy comes from the Mgt./ Owner who was at his desk in the front of the store. Obviously this all must be ok with him. When all the Amazon packages arrive at my house on what seems like a daily basis, I have always had in my mind that by ordering like that we are taking business from our local retailers. It seems like maybe some of them would prefer you order on line so they are not bothered by you. read more

I've been coming here for years. Big for a local hardware store, but very friendly and helpful service. They have pretty much everything, though sometimes you'll still need to go to a big box store. Garden, hardware, housewares. Heck, Der Dutchman baked goods. Who can resist? This time I needed a smoke detector and they had a decent selection. Prices are a bit high, but the convenience and the local factor help to make up for that. Handy location on the edge of town by the highway. Plenty of parking and easy access. Easily one of the best. Amazing selection. I just went to Lowe's looking for something only to find them covered in bird feces (and I mean covered) and was told "there's nothing we can do about it." not really wanting to put that in my car, I decided to see what this hardware had and they had a great selection all free from any dirt. Wound up buying a more expensive model just because I was excited to see a better selection and clean; if you're dropping over $100 I don't think it's insane to ask it be free from transmissible diseases. A little pricey when it comes to most things but for the nut and bolt selection availability it's worth the extra bucks. Seems to have a wide selection of paints, tools and rental equipment. I like when a place has everything in one spot and it's also nice know that you are helping to support a more local store. read more

Store is becoming more and more dissapointing, Fitzgerald's seem to carry fewer real hardware store type items and more garbage that can easily be obtained elsewhere for much less. I long for the days when the store was on N Main Street and carried virtually every hardware item imaginable. The move to the new location has been a loss. The shining star in the store is the bolt and fastener selection....one of the best I have experienced. read more

I am extremely disappointed in this store. In the past I have been very satisfied, not this year. It started out with very poor customer service. i am a 60 yr. old woman and purchased 8 bags of 40 lb. soil bags. When I asked for help loading the soil I was told in a you are bothering me kind of tone that he would have to close down the register to help me and that it would be awhile. I said OK and waited then I say him help load some other customers soil (they did have more than me) and he happened to look over at me and then came to help. Now why I made another purchase I don't know but I bought about $70 worth of flower seeds. I did everything I could to assure growth but only about half if that came up. I called to see what kind of guarantee they had and I was told there was no guarantee. My suggestion, do not buy flower seeds at this store and if you are looking for good customer service, do not expect to get it. I support local business but will take my business to another local nursery store. read more
