Customer service runs a business...remember that as I go on. We have been going to East Hanover Home Depot for many years. Frustration abounded with either not being able to find help or if you found someone, they didn't really no much about what you needed. *****About a few weeks ago, my wife and I went to HD to purchase a number of assorted items, either individual or in bulk. Walking in the front door, we were GREETED, YES I SAID GREETED, by 2 young(er) women, who immediately said, "Good morning", can we help you find what you want," I looked at my wife and asked " where are we?"*** I responded by saying to them what we needed. Again, so quickly and politely , both went right to their tablets to check?! Both answered almost in sync, " Please go to Aisle 13, Bay 5". We followed their answer, with directions, and in Aisle 12, Bay 5 there were the items we needed! Ok, 1 time Home Depot was , like, a different , better Big Box Store? We went back to purchase a lot of merchandise needed. AGAIN, WE WERE GREETED WITH A " Good morning" , can we help you find what you. came in for? We told them once again, and again, we were guided to the right aisle! We were greeted by Ria and Chris, both so nice and knowledgeable. Chris sat us down, and we were asked what we were looking for. The entire Department, Ria and , Chris, in particular, took us through what we wanted, needed, then put together a complete plan for us to approve, change, whatever. We were again taken care of with knowledgeable and understanding people. I'll finally end to say that we had to go back, 1 to exchange something that I purchased incorrectly. Taken care of quickly, (with a smile) by Customer Service, then again we're guided to the correct aisle, etc. A new mandate for East Hanover Home Depot definitely. WE CAN RECOMMEND that you can now go to Home Depot, not to wander around looking for (maybe) help, but definite help and with a totally different attitude . Thank you East Hanover Home Depot...we'll be back with confidence to purchase what we need. PS...lastly, their prices are either in line with others, or better.! Finally. read more

PROS: this home depot was very nice. Large selection, prices are good, staff is nice, quick checkout lanes, loads of parking CONS: I went in for cardboard boxes and the website said they were in aisle 17 but they were actually in aisle 20. Not sure if it's the store's fault or website. If one item was like that, then what else is like that? OVERALL: I would absolutely come here for any home improvement needs you may have. very helpful with equipment rental, very smooth and easy return option. parking is rather limited by the front door.

Staff is quick and easy to handling my return and I was able to get in and wrapped in a few minutes from the return desk. Shelves were pretty orderly when I was looking for items but still out of Chlorox wipes and particulate filters for masks. The other note - avoid the plastic gas cans, tried two and they leak. Service and people giving advice - great - but those gas containers, terrible. Miss the old metal can days. read more

I went shopping on Friday June 13th at 12pm. There was a young Latina at the customer service desk who had her back turned away from the customers she was playing on her phone. I wanted to purchase a gift card so I went to the check out where there was a young African American who said he knew how to check me out for a gift card. I let him ring me up and he has no idea what he was doing. It seems like this retail establishment has no idea what customer service is and is not trained properly before handling customers. I am very disappointed. I know I was not the only disappointed one there. There was also an older lady who I heard complain to the customer service desk that there was no one on the floor that could answer any of her questions. I have no idea what's going on with Home Depot, but they make it incredibly difficult for you to buy anything. The front of the store is clogged with merchandise so only one cart can get by at a time creating a log jam. They're out of stock of a lot of items on a consistent basis And when you're finally able to find what you want after winding your way through isles clogged with boxes, thrown everywhere and get up to the register to pay at self check out, you're not allowed to self check out This is why I buy from Amazon instead of banging my head against the wall here read more

Its Home Depot. Its big and well stocked but with this Home Depot I was a bit let down. Normally there are workers in every aisle or area waiting to help out. That wasnt the case the day I came here. I wanted to get some keys made and the attendant left, presumably to help someone else or maybe a bathroom break, but why not have a replacement person come? By now myself and two other people were waiting almost 10 minutes. Thats no good, it wasnt even really that busy. Also the parking lot could use some hands. Carts and dollys to haul big placks or other large items were kinda strewn about. It was a windy day, but it just made the parking lot look neglected. I know Home Depots usually have a pretty big team of staff working, especially on weekends so what happened this visit? This may not be how this Home Depot always is, but this visit was only unfortunately just average. read more

How funny is this!?! I ordered an LG stackable washer dryer and LG stove last night Matthew East Hanover Home Depot. The order was not processing fully, so the person well come back tomorrow morning and bring this printout and we Will process it then. I came back this morning be for 8 am and overnight the stove was $100 more and the washer and dryer each went up $50. I asked, as I am on a very tight budget for a Medicaid spend down for my husband who has dimentia in a nursing home, what can be done. The store manager flatly refused to reduce the bill for the $200. I am in my 70's and every penny is accounted for. He said he would lose money on the deal. What he kept was $200 - what he lost his store was $4300 sale! Yes, I walked out of the store and am getting it for less at Lowe's! I do not understand the lack of compassion and the willingness to lose that much in business. SMH. read more

If you are thinking about a home improvement project and considering Home Depot of East Hanover, NJ....It would be wise to think again. We engaged Home Depot to replace 2 bedroom windows in our condo. It was paramount that the window and the surround trim match the communities windows. A Salesperson by the name of Martin came out to take measurements and match the surround color. The price was $2590. We gave Martin the required deposit of $577.50 We were informed that because of fabrication time and supply chain issues, installation would be in November of 2022. Seems like these days, everyone is using the supply chain as their go to excuse for lack of quality service. Shortly before Thanksgiving, we got a call to schedule installation which we did. When the installer arrived, he had the wrong color trim material due to an error on Martin's part. Installation canceled. I spoke with Martin's manager, Scott, he seemed genuinely sorry and promised to expedite the procurement of the correct color trim material. There were no updates unless I pestered either of them. During the week of December 16, we were informed by Scott, that the installation would be either on Thursday or Friday of that week. That did not happen and without any explanation of the delay. As of this writing neither men have reached out to us and we still have no windows. The customer service is horrific, unprofessional and outrageous. I am cutting up my Home Depot card and never shopping there again. Further, we intend to take Home Depot to small claims court to recover our deposit in cash and not a credit to our Home Depot card and insist on punitive damages. Bottom line, do not consider Home Depot for any home project. It is not worth the frustration and aggravation read more

HD is a necessity now. Being a homeowner, you will be best friends with HD in no time. It's convenient, their prices are reasonable and selection is unmatched. Where they always fail at: service. Thank goodness they have self checkout. Dealing with any person in this place is like having a tooth extracted. I do like supporting local businesses but when local hardware stores change their prices in desperate times (blizzards, rain storms) I stop supporting them. HD seems to attract the same clients as Walmart. I prefer to get what I need and leave promptly. This location is no different. read more

This is an updated review based on my visit earlier this afternoon. I was looking specifically for herbs in the garden department - Thai Basil and Lemongrass. I checked the aisles with the herbs - twice - and I was unable to find either. I found other types of Basil, but not the one I was looking for. I found someone (a woman) who worked in the garden area, and asked if she knew if they had any. I specified that I was looking for Thai Basil and Lemongrass - and she said they have them - she has seen them - and that I just need to look at the names. I told her I had done that already and didn't see either. She told me they are there - and to look. I looked again and didn't find them. I specifically asked her again - and she was certain they were there. She then refused to do anything else other than tell me they are there. That's not customer service - that's customer DIS-service. She just lost your company two loyal customers. There are plenty of other places to go for everything Home Depot carries - and these other places appreciate and respect their customers. Good riddance. read more

Not bad... Though this Home Depot is usually well-stocked and clean, I can't give it more than 3 stars because it gets disgustingly crowded on the weekends and the ratio of staff to customers is too low. If you need assistance, good luck! Employees are usually busy helping someone already and there are probably 3 or 4 people who are waiting to ask a question so make sure that if you're visiting during the peak hours that you're not in a hurry to be somewhere. My favorite part of the store is the gardening section in the spring/summer because of the huge selection of plants they have. They have many different peppers and tomatoes and herbs as well as flowers and practical plants like citronella to keep away those pesky mosquitoes. But, if you plan on buying plants, plan on bringing your own box because unlike most plant & garden stores, Home Depot doesn't supply a box for your convenience (and to preserve your car's cleanliness). read more

Shower door however part was missing. went to this store (drive about 30 min) based on their inventory report on website, and their representative said 'they don't have this item without checking the inventory and walked a way with attitute. he was very rude to begin with. Then i wento to the same customer service and explained the situation one more time and he just did not want to check the inventory and told me to go to another homedepot. I wish I can give 0 star. I went in this store, purchased and paid for an extension ladder with the delivery fee. The ladder was supposed to be delivered the following Monday. I called to check on the status the day before. They cancelled my order without notifying me. They sold the ladder to someone else and told me they refunded back to my credit card. When i complained since it was only one in stock and none was available their response was "oh yes, we sold someone else's patio set too". Wow, is this what they do? Take orders, take payment and sell to anyone else who wants them? I was promised they would contact me when the items are back in stock. A couple days later, I don't see refund. Called the store again. Ok refund might be sitting in the bank. But when I asked about notifying me when the items are back in stock the response was it doesn't work like that. Okay, it is ok to sell the items that is already paid for but it is not ok to notify the customer to make up their mistake even after they promised? This Home Depot location is the most convenient for me, but boy do I dread when I have trouble finding something in this store. For one, the employees not only don't ask if you need help, many times I find them burying their face into their "work." Most of the employees have body language that screams "Don't bother me with your questions." When I finally do get someone's attention, most of the time they are not knowledgeable. I am not happy in the way this store is run. I was in the store today (6/28/21) looking for Liquid Fence Deer Repellent. There were non on the shelf. Store associate checked that there are 40 containers (1 Gallon) in the store but he could not find any. I purchased two (2) containers of black top coating. They have few brands outside - no prices listed. I bought black top patching - I had to open the carton myself to take out a container - price not indicated. The staff tries very hard to be helpful but they can only do so much. I really feel bad for them. read more

Just spent 15 minutes waiting in line at the cutting center (November 1, 2019, about 12:30-12:45). One of the nice things about Home Depot is that the first cut is free. The guys who had already been waiting in line through two pages for a saw operator took pity on me and took the handsaw and cut my dowel for me. But...seriously??? Other customers have to do the cutting because the saw operator isn't around? How about leaving a sign if there isn't anyone available? HD is saved from a 1-star review because I have had stuff cut here before, because the electrical manager helped me find the lamp switch I needed today, and because the cashiers were concerned and made pages on our behalf. But: something has got to be done about communications, both among store employees and between the store and customers. read more

A run-of-the-mill Home Depot. It's conveniently located with a good parking lot. Easy access from Route 10 or from Murray Road behind, which allows for easy access from Town Center of East Hanover and nearby shops. This is not a super store location like you'll find over in Vauxhall, so expect a limited showroom. Service is more miss than hit here. If you don't know what you're looking for, expect to wait for assistance. If you're buying paint, do yourself a favor and go to a local paint/hardware shop. Wait times are FOREVER. That being said, they have an adequate selection of tools, hardware, cleaning supplies, etc. read more

The place was as clean as you'd expect for a home improvement store, but of all the employees we asked for guidance on where to find items, none of them pointed us to the right aisle. Alternate 1-star and 5-star experiences on successive visits, for me this Home Depot is a study in contrasts. Prices sometimes undercut my local lumberyard, but the discount is rarely worth the aggravation level. And sometimes the prices are twice as much as my local supply counter! So why do I still go? Well, they're open evenings and Sundays. Some orange-apron people roaming the aisles have been enormously helpful and insightful; others have no idea what they sell (or don't), how to use it, how to install it, you name it. This location is old and small compared to the new super-size stores, that's a plus if you don't like walking football-field lengths but a minus if you want more variety like a garden center complete with landscape stone. The variety is great, but the stock is invariably jumbled among the endless rows of cardboard bins, so if you don't check EVERY SINGLE item you pull out, you'll definitely walk away with the wrong thing. I hate the aggravation of the self-checkout machines, but it can still be better than waiting for slow cashiers and disorganized customers ahead of you in line. A notable plus is the availability of partial sheets of plywood and 2-foot sections of PVC and copper pipe. Can't take home a 4x8 sheet and don't need a 10-foot length? No problem, of course the price per (square) foot gets ridiculous but at least you won't clutter up your shed with extra stuff. All too often I've found the shelves bare of an item I need, baffling. Like knee pads: the safety-equipment department has eye shields, respirators, a zillion kinds of gloves, radioactive orange visibility vests, even hard hats .. but no knee protectors, wtf. The big displays 12 feet up in the air seem invariably to differ from the stock on the shelves. Stuff that's no longer available is up on the wall; stuff on shelves isn't on the board. Or the names are different, and the only way to figure out what's what is to squint at the SKU numbers or try to find the same price high up and low down. And my particular pet peeve is lights up on the board that aren't lit up .. seriously, again I must ask, wtf. On my before-last visit I talked with a guy in the electric department who helped me tremendously choosing between 4" and 6" high-hat light fixtures, we swapped stories, cool. Most recently I came to buy a plumbing rubber-boot adapter which I found on my own and handed to the cashier .. who mysteriously put it aside, never rang it up, so I left without and didn't realize until I was a mile down the road. Coils of 12-2 and 14-2 wire are priced extremely competitively, but the prices on cut wire can be crazy. My local supply house sold me 8-3 wire for $1.15 foot, the price here is over $2.50! Finally I think Home Cheapo is single handedly responsible for driving the quality of machine tools into the dirt, of course you should make things with plastic internal parts, hey it saves a buck, right? read more

I am here almost every weekend and that's not always a good thing! They have practically everything I need for a home or outdoor project. Having moved into a new house, this store has been a go-to for so many of our needs from lawn to plumbing to hardware; the list is endless! We have done larger projects with their help as well, including ordering custom blinds. Given all the things you buy here that you sometimes don't end up needing or get the wrong size, shape, color, model, etc., their return policy really kicks ass. Granted, some of the employees look bored out of their minds, while others don't know where to send you for an item, but there are others who are very knowledgeable and are willing to go the extra mile for you. read more

Ordered new windows. Sales guy came right away on 9/29 and said 3-4 weeks for the windows to come in. Guy who measured on 10/5 said 3-4 weeks. Tonight, 10/16, call comes in to set up installation appointment--for another 5 weeks from now. When I demur, I get told that the windows won't even be in until 11/19, at least 2x what they said when they were taking my money. Windows will get put in after Thanksgiving, more than 2 months after my initial call. So, they flat-out lied to my face. I'm stuck on this purchase, but I won't do business with these a**hats again. Worse customer service ever! Joe B. (supervisor) is rude, unprofessional and not helpful at all. As a matter of fact, he cops a confrontational attitude as though you're there for a fight. Fight alone he will as I'm there to shop not argue. How he ever got to be a supervisor is beyond me. Sad how some stores don't really care to correct the staff issues. Purchased a refrigerator from the Home Depot. Sale was excellent, the salesperson was knowledgeable, told me the specs of the refrigerator, the details of what to expect with shipping and install. I could not have been more pleased. HOWEVER, that was where the pleasantries ended. The delivery and install company used to deliver my refrigerator was Forward Air. The driver and helper told me a few times they have many deliveries to make. I honestly never asked but, that turned out to be the reason they left. To get my refrigerator into the kitchen would have required them taking the doors off. Which is typical in tight spaces but they wouldn't do that, they would only drop it in my garage. So although this is a single star for the Depot, it is really meant for the company nobody knows or cares about, Forward Air-partner of Home Depot. Next time Best Buy or Pc Richards will be used for appliances and install. read more
