So the running joke is that the Home Depot has terrible customer service and associates hide from you when you go there. I had to run to the garden center for something, and had the opposite experience. The staff member manning the entrance greeted me when I came in, and helped me find the item I was looking for. The aisles are a little wacky and he wasn't able to direct me perfectly, and I had to do some wandering and scrounging. Still, he was so nice and at least seemed willing to help, which is more service than I usually get in these kinds of big box home stores. I'm not super handy so I can't really weigh in on everything here, but the garden center was pretty nice. read more

Home Depot has always been there for me as a local homeowner and as an educator in the area. Last week, I had to purchase plastic coverings that would help protect our furniture while redoing our living room. The choices were a little bit endless! Alonso stuck with me and helped me comeaway with the right choices. I needed plastic that would cover, but not at the thickness or cost of a tarp. Alonso worked out the measurements with me and helped me get what I needed and it helped greatly as I finsihed the painting without painting the wooden beams or the furniture with no where to go! Summary: There are Pros and Cons to this store, your experience will depend on timing i.e. who you happen to get to help you. The selection is good and the prices are very competitive + they have good sales & frequent no interest credit. A truly EOE. We were greeted by a friendly fellow that happened to be in a wheelchair, he gave my daughter a Popsicle. A wonderful welcome. Strong point for accommodating and employing people with disabilities- that point alone will keep me coming back. I was carrying a stove part to use for comparison purposes; an elderly gentleman asked about the part but then told me he doesn't know anything about it; I couldn't help but say "Then why did you ask", he got annoyed and said "I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU" okay...telling me you don't know anything is helpful, thank you. Strong point for no age discrimination, however the screening and review process could be improved. The woman in the appliance department was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I rented a electric snake, noticed a lot of broken ones waiting for repair- attendant mentioned they are broken because some people don't listen to him; I listened, followed the instructions, cleared my drain and didn't break the machine. Listening and following instructions- not an outdated concept!! We stopped in the gardening department, some of the stuff was junk while it was still new; I'll try to upload a pic for you. Customer service area was disorganized and chaotic. Was not clear where the line was suppose to be- customers made their best guess to form a line, some people innocently cut in front of the line because they could not tell where it was. When I finally got to the front of the line the representative could not help me because she had the "Wrong computer", initially wanted me to get back in line again but when I pointed out that wasn't fair she took me to someone else with the "right computer" *shrug*. This is by far the worst Home Depot I've ever been too. It's unorganized, none of the materials are in the right place, the associates are not only rude, but have zero idea what they are doing. Need a cart good luck finding one, because they are packed full of materials, if you get a cart good luck getting down an isle with them. The best thing this franchise can do is either fire everyone and re staff or just close this store. read more

I moved in January & ordered & picked-up many things for my new home, including a Moen double towel bar & matching towel ring. These items are still available in Home Depot, in fact the price went from $40.98 to $49.98 & $20.98 to $27.98 respectively. I had my on line recite with the prices I paid. Since it was past the 90 return policy I offered to accept a store credit in the lower amount which I paid. In addition, since the store had already paid the NYS the sales tax to the state, I didn't expect that back. However the store refused to to take back their merchandise. It wasn't discontinued, it is still carried in the store were I attempted to return it. This is a policy that shows how far Home Depot's customer service has sunk. It's a shame the once home mega store has become so unreasonable. read more

This has to be the worst retailer in central New York. Employees go out of their way NOT to help you. No one ever knows what you ask for, and employees walk away when asked questions. The delivery people from Temco arrived today to remove our washer and dryer and install our new ones. They first tried to say there was a leak where you turn on the water, so they wouldn't install or remove until we hired a plumber. It turns out my wife had turned off the water and the girl had turned it back ON, so of course there was a drip of water. Then, these two kids (very young) tried to say the washer and dryer wouldn't fit through the doors and we would have to remove the two doors AND the moldings! We removed the doors, but I refused to remove the moldings. So, then when it was obvious they were measuring wrong and both units would fit in and out, they called their boss, saying they would have to lift the units up over the toilet, which wasn't true. At this point, both my wife and I were very upset, especially when the girl said they must have built the house around the washer and dryer. I mean, COME ON!! So, after we told them we would get the washer and dryer out ourselves and asked them to go get the new units off the truck, at that point, they refused to complete the install or remove the old units. They put their boss on speaker and he said, "Drop the new s*** in their garage and leave the premises." Mind you, we are both disabled veterans and when we told the two people this, the girl said, "We aren't in the Army." Um, hello? My wife has a spinal cord injury and I had foot surgery 4 days ago and am in a cast and shouldn't be on my feet. So, we did all the work and they drove off, not only leaving all the boxing and the old units in our driveway, but also neglecting to give us the hoses and vents and the power cord to the dryer. I called the local Home Depot and was told there was nothing they could do because Temco is the only company they contract with. I was also told it was "dependent on staffing" if anyone would even bring out the things we needed to get the units to work. And, neither my wife or I can drive, so it's not like we could go get them. She can't drive at all, because her spinal cord injury and I can't drive for 4 weeks because of my surgery. We have escalated this to the Applicance Hotline, but right now, we are without a working washer and dryer and have run out of clean clothes and towels, as well as bedding and towels for our rescue cats. I will NEVER, EVER do business with Home Depot again. EVER! read more

First of all...if I could give this business ZERO stars I'd be all over it. My husband and I stopped in here to get some things today and several people were walking around with NO FACE COVERINGS. You better believe I yelled at every single one that passed me to go home and get their face coverings! Then I immediately walked up to several store associates to make them aware. They all said they were "not allowed" to say anything! Ignorant fools. We paid for our stuff and made the cashier aware that since they still take money from the assholes not abiding by the state mandated LAW they would NOT be getting anymore of OUR money. The managers all treat there co workers like a forgotten number. Most days you won't get a brake and the manager will give you attitude because of there failure to do there duties. You can never leave the time you were scheduled to clock out. The manager will literally tell you if we forget about you just call us , and of course when you do call them so you can leave they take there time and have a attitude ! Forget your name or doesn't even care to know your name . Doesnt care to get to know anything about you. Very unorganized management ! The bags are full of water , Sticks, even glass Pieces horrible product. And no service. Rented a tiller from these guys. When I checked out I explained how I was on vacation the rest of the week and I was excited to get the project done that night because that means I could use my vacation time to actually relax. We power test the tiller load it in my jeep and go home. I power it up go to till and the blades on the left side fly off rolling towards my foot. I look on the ground, the bolt that holds the blades in place had no safety pin connect to it. So I call back and my options were to return with it and get another one or come back and get bolts to put it back together. So instead of loading the monster back in the jeep. I drive out to get the replacement bolts and get a "sorry for the inconvenience". Well yeah it is. Because now it's dark out and I have to have the machine back by 9am. Had the machine actually functioned the way it should, I would've been able to finish my job but no, at my inconvenience I had to drive out for nothing basically. I can't finish the job tonight and I obviously can't finish in the morning. So thank for taking my cash and I literally get nothing but inconvenienced out of this. I drove out to hand you my credit card, drove out to get a part to fix your crap, and gotta drive our to return it. Half a gas tank later, I've accomplished nothing. UPDATE *** When I returned the tiller the gentlemen were very accommodating as they understood the seriousness of the bolt falling off and the blades spinning out as well as that it is now raining and I can't take it home again to complete the job. We were just at Home Depot (which I suppose has been allowed to remain open as "essential" as they sell to suppliers as well as lowly professors). As we left with our bags of mulch, there were two young men guarding the exit, both wearing orange Home Depot aprons. One had on a mask, but the other wore his under his chin. I stopped and said: "Don't you have a mask policy?" Kid replied: "It's too hot." And then, as I walked away, said: "Goodbye dad." I asked where the manager was, and he was guarding the front entrance, so the kid walked me over. The manager was wearing a mask, and when I asked about their policy, he said: "Yes, all employees wear masks." The kid was right there, and I said: "Is he an employee?" The manager simply replied: "Well, he should be wearing one." The kid wandered off, mask still under his chin. Home Depot is a giant corporation, and they won't miss two customers. But that's the last time I'll ever walk through their door. read more

After standing in the mostly empty Gardening Department 20 minutes and hoping for four separate calls from store associates to finally yield "help" with loading dirt bags, I go to the register where I wait. Again. The young *man* at the register expresses his frustration at me, when I complain about the inexcusable wait--when no one was even in line. Then ... it gets worse. A nice gentleman (with a hearing aid) finally arrives to help. But, before I could speak to him, an older 50ish woman, with unkempt long black mingling gray hair and in plain clothing (as in no orange anywhere) inserts herself into the conversation and proclaims: 'he can't help you; he's in loading.' Of course, I'm thinking: "huh?" Who is this customer rudely interrupting my business? Turns out, she was an employee shopping there on her day off. When I encountered her later to try to explain the bizarreness of her behavior, my explanation fell on deaf ears. Repeating over and over again to her the oddity of a customer being told by another supposed customer what could and could not be done by Home Depot workers became exhausting. She clearly did not have the intellectual capacity to grasp it. Meanwhile, about four workers clustered afterward to discuss the incident--until I began explaining to the nice assistance store manager what occurred and pointing in their direction. Poof. They all suddenly disappeared. Like roaches. This includes one of the flooring department store managers, who never seems to have anything to do. Ever. Long story short, this Home Depot store usually has what I want, except when it comes to customer service. Sometimes you get the best of the best. Sometimes you get the worst of the worst. I keep forgetting that. My fault, I suppose. read more

Stopped this evening to pick up an online order. Looked to have been a difficult day as we waited for our pick up. Its times like these that employers need to realize how important their employees are. Just as frustration levels were rising and I was mentioning to my step son maybe no Home Depot next time one of the frazzled employees volunteered to track it down. A few minutes later, having driven to where we were directed with no order still anywhere in sight another employee walked by and I asked for help. I was reluctant. It looked pretty clear she was trying to leave for the day and having seen her previously inside it looked like a lot of the hassles there had been heaped on her shoulders to sort out and yet she still stopped, smiled and helped me without a pause. That one moment took me from maybe no more Home Depot to a satisfied customer again. I think her name was Jennifer, and somebody should give that girl a raise. I wish I could give this place a negative star. I made a purchase six weeks ago. First, I had to wait three weeks for it to be delivered. When it eventually came I had to refuse the delivery, and now three weeks later I still have not received a refund. I have tried to call, but can never get ahold of anyone because this location only employs one person for each department. I went to the store, waited 20 min at customer service, only to be told I had to go to the appliance dept. I had another 20-25 minute wait, only to be told they do not refund your purchase on the same day, even though you do have the merchandize. Is being called asking for a delivery time, & kept telling everyone I REFUSED IT. Today, three weeks later, still no refund, I tried calling again & told the same story 'I'm by myself with people staring at me'. I will NEVER step foot in this store again read more

I have been trying for three weeks to get my Maytag fridge delivered. This Home Depot is great for little things here and there but I would NOT recommend EVER buying appliances from them. Their delivery service is AWFUL! They've had to reschedule my delivery three times, all at the very last moment. Not having a fridge is almost as bad as having to deal with Home Depot's choice in delivery services. Ugh! read more

The tool rental guys have all been very friendly and helpful. One was really helpful with techniques for using a floor buffer with sanding screens. I've rented tools about 20 times. Rented the truck a couple times. The rental can be cheaper elsewhere but I paid the premium for the convenience of long open hours and close location. This store is very busy overall so sometimes you'll wait in the tool rental department. Go early and have some patience. read more

Monday I arrived at Home Depot, E.Syracuse dreading the chore of loading mulch on the cart and again loading all 10 bags into my truck. A sales associate was at the mulch area and he not only loaded my cart, pushed it to the cashier and loaded it into my truck. The way he placed all 10 bags made it easier for me (a senior) to unload. I came--close to closing time-- to pick up a large item and had neglected to call an hour ahead which was requested. The staff went out of their way to find the item and load it into my car, even though it was 10 minutes past closing time when we were finished. I went to the Bridge St. Home Depot in East Syracuse to buy a gift for my son's birthday. I was waiting in the front of the store because one of the staff was checking in the back to see if they had the product I wanted in a box. There were at least 3 workers that stopped and asked me if I needed any help. One if them was a woman that was just coming in and hadn't even started her shift yet. The person that helped me was named Craig. He went out of his way to help me and even took care of some phone issues that I had concerning my credit card. I work in a business that depends heavily on taking good care of guests. These people are wonderful and very helpful and kind. Anyone that works with the public knows that they can sometimes be critical and upset with other things when they come through the door. It's a tough job and I am very pleased with the way they treated me. I will definitely shop here, even though it is more than a 25 mile drive. Good service means that much to me.
