The last three times I've been to Home Depot it was to look at their indoor plants. I've been wanting to add to the plants I have and was looking for something different than what I had. I have been very happy each time I went to Home Depot - the selection was good, checkout was easy (self-checkout), the sales assistants were very helpful and came over right away to check on me to make sure any I wasn't having any difficulties with the check-out process. I especially have enjoyed their sales on succulents as well as their end-of-season sale where I got some excellent deals on plants. The only things I'd recommend are to expand the houseplant section, get a wider variety of plants, and do not offer artificially-dyed plants (e.g., blue or purple plants). read more

5-31-2025 at approximately 1800 hrs. MASON was absolutely the most accommodating Person I have ever met at any HOME DEPOT that I have ever shopped. His Friendliness and knowledge of the store was amazing. He helped load my doors and pushed them up front to the Pro center while I finished getting the rest of my list filled. Then he met me in Lumber and helped locate a qualified operator to cut a 4x8 sheet for me and helped the operator cut and load the 2 pieces on my cart. He then helped push my cart to the PRO Cashier and assisted the cashier with applying my MILITARY Discount. Then unbelievably, MASON pushed my cart with 2 doors and other supplies to the loading zone and waited there while I retrieved my vehicle from the front parking area. MASON recruited two other HD EMPLOYEES to assist him and I and proceeded to direct and load my Explorer in a very careful manner. This Young Man MASON should receive your EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR at this FOREST LAKE FACILITY. I have never been treated so wonderful in any type of BOX Store or any type of store. Home Depot stores are awful to begin with but this store is the worst. Stopped in to buy a new chain saw blade for the red brand and of course they didn't have one but what made it even worse is they have now locked up every power tool and accessory in cages. so even if you would like to look at a tool or accessory you need to find a employee . I have been a home Home Depot customer for many years, it is my preferred place to shop. I shop in W. St. Paul and have always had very good service by all of the employees. So when my mom and dad were going to redo their deck I said go to Home Depot, which they did (in Forest Lake). The lady that helped them was pleasant and seemed to know what she was doing, my mom said. She gave my mom and dad an estimate of what it would cost to do a picture frame deck their size and they ordered it. What did not happen was that the Home Depot person should have asked which direction their trusses ran, whichshe did not and there for we had to figure out a solution. When my mom and dad went in to get the supplies they were told it wasn't in yet, then the next time they went in they got only part of the order. When they got part of the supplies someone put down that they got all of the order, which they did not. My mom and dad had to keep checking back to see if the order was in because no one called them. They had to go back 3 times for it. The order had missing parts, the order was supposed to have 10 post caps which it did not, we only received 3. The railing hardware kit did not come in any of the order they picked up (but the computer said all the supplies were picked up). the fascia was not received, we had to reorder that from W. St. Paul. There was 2x8x12 prime cedar boards ordered that we did not need and still do not know why it was ordered. When we went in to talk to someone at the pro desk we encountered to young ladies sitting at the desk were very unfriendly, I asked if we could speak to someone about getting a part of the order that was missing and they said no one was there and we had to come back on Monday. I told them no we could not do that because we were working on it today and had to go to our jobs on Monday. The girls were rude. We said we needed a manager and they needed to get one. They did. The manager showed up and apologized and after a few calls he said they would call my mom on Monday after 1:00 but that did not happen. My husband went and found the rail kits that we needed and we were eventually able to finish they deck. Two managers were supposed to call us and guess what? It never happened. When I went to return something I received another person that was so very rude. She was putting down another customer while I waited. This store is absolutely awful to work with. read more

I bought a pressure washer from Home Depot and had it delivered. After putting it together, it did not work. I went to the Forest Lake Home Depot to return it--unloaded it and its box from my trunk onto a flatbed and brought it into the store. The manager who was called to approve/assist in the return said that I could only return it to the store it was "pulled from". No where on my paperwork was that even listed...she had to tell me which store it came from! She said there was nothing she could do for me. I then had to reload it into my car and drive an hour from my home to do the return. I was able to return it at that store, but asked both the cashier and the manager, who happened to be there, about returning it only from the store it was "pulled from". They both said no, that's not the policy, and they accept web returns no matter the location it came from. Their best guess was the manager in Forest Lake didn't want the return to go against their sales. Very disappointed in Forest Lake Home Depot. read more

Went today to buy a grill. The floor clerk told us to wheel All the way to the front register without offering any help. When we got to the register, the clerk did not offer any help with getting the grill into out truck. Not the best customer service, at all. read more

Horrible. Go to the Menards next door. Menards is much better with availability, items and service. We called to see if Home Depot rented power washers and they said yes an gave us quotes. We went to the store and said thy don't rent anything at this store except a rug doctor. Horrible service, false advertising and just plain disappointing. I'm done. 1. They went woke. 2. I don't get paid to run a register, but that is the only way to get checked out... you have to do it yourself. 3. It is now so much harder to get a military discount. It's like "thanks for your service now jump through all these hoops to get a discount". I don't care if they offer a military discount or not, but don't be like "we want to show our appreciation for your service... after you do all this online garbage". I've shopped at quite a few Home Depots, and generally I am very satisfied with the service, prices and selection. I popped in here yesterday on my way home from Taylors Falls to see if they had a particular orchid I was looking for. Right as I walked in, there was a female employee lurking in the entryway and she asked me what I was looking for. It was nice of her, but honestly I was kind of creeped out by the way she was hangin out there and "pouncing" on customers as they entered. I told her I was just looking for the plants, which I motioned towards to indicate that I knew where I was headed. I went to the indoor plants department, where I was approached by someone else offering to help. I told them I was just looking for an orchid, which I was standing right in front of at that time. I asked him if they had everything out on the floor, or if they had any more hidden somewhere. He said they were all out, but there were some more near the register. I was very disappointed with the selection overall. At most Home Depots, I find a plethora of plants I'd like to take home with me even when I'm not in the market for one (and even if I don't have room for them). But here, there wasn't a single plant that I wanted...not to mention that they weren't in the greatest condition either (many were wilted, dried out, or just plain unhealthy looking). I'm not sure who is in charge of the department at this location, but whoever it is, they seem to either be on vacation or else sadly they aren't very good at their job. I checked other carts throughout the front of the store to see if the blue orchid I was looking for might be hiding in a display near the checkout, but no such luck. Even if I had found one, I would hate to see what kind of shape it was in. When I left, I opted to exit out the door farthest away from where I came in, just to avoid the lurking lady. read more

Just bought a neat webber grill, the store put it together for no charge. Not only did they do a great job, they all were so helpful and friendly. I should note they also had the best price I had found, Amazon, other brick stores, none had a better price. read more

Don't use their contractor for counter top installs. Very poor service. Stone System Inc. They have a national account with Home Depot. We've been waiting since the first week of November 2018 for an install and they keep putting us off. The day they finally are suppose to install, we pay a plumber to get the water disconnected and no counter top installers show. We called their offices and they had a problem getting staff to show up to work...waited all day with repeated commitments that someone would be out and no one showed. I was in this store for a mere 15 minutes and no less than 5 staff members approached me to see if I needed help finding what I needed. The aisles were very clean neat. If you get something for a real good deal they never give you the warranty, instead they give you three years for something that clearly said lifetime on the box, and they never accept when you register your tool they say more information needed every time they see the price you paid so this time I sent the receipt and the paperwork they wanted and now I get a letter saying I didn't send the receipt. what a bunch of bullshit, it was in the envelope and I know it was because I checked and rechecked before I mailed it so now I am screwed because they have my receipt and I have no way of sending it again. so that is the last ridged tool or anything I will buy from home depot ever again and believe me I have bought a lot of ridged tools there, now I will sell them all and buy dewalt from now on.. I present The Home Depot of Forest Lake with the most unethical company of the year award! They are very deceitful and will not treat you will after the sale is complete. I purchased some of their more expensive quartz countertops. The countertops have several defects and were not installed very well. During the installation they kept spilling epoxy and severely damaged our brand-new wood floor. They refused to repair the floor and instead wanted to hire an outlet center to perform a repair that would void our floor warranty. Learn from my mistakes and do not go to this store. The Regional District Manager (John Haussner) is one of the most unfriendly people you will meet. He said he was not able to help me any further and told me to call into their 800 help number. I asked him what that would do and he said they would create a case that would route to him so he could again tell me that he cannot help me any further. lol sorry he really did tell me this. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE!! We have been doing a ton of work in our house and would go to the Forest Lake Home Depot almost twice a day. We have spent a ton of money. We decided to order carpet with them and that is when everything started going south!! Service was not very good, but we brushed it off. Should have went with my gut on it though.. Carpet was over a week late, every time we would call (which was daily) they would just tell us it was not there. When I asked for them to figure out where it was or to see what was going on, they would say I guess so.. Sorry to be an inconvenience to you.!! Once it finally came, they didn't even call us we followed up with them and they said well it came in yesterday. The carpet was suppose to be cut and it wasn't we had to do it our self. My husband called about it and they lady on the phone was very rude!!! Overall, the customer service is horrible. This home depot has put a bad taste in my mouth for all Home Depots.
