I ordered a water softener through Home Depot that was supposed to be delivered 8/22/19. I never received the water softener so called Home Depot and they clearly didn't want to deal with it so they said to wait until the 29th. I did not receive the water softener on 8/29/19. Called Home Depot they said delivery company confirmed it was delivered to me. It was not. They then say we will need to dispute the charge on our credit card. They then charged me again to get a water softener that will now be delivered to the closest store. After a couple more calls they now make it my problem to deal with the shipping company NSD that Home Depot hired to deliver my water softener. Keep reading it gets worse. I call NSDs find out that they sub-contracted the job to Zzzzz's moving in Grand Rapids Michigan. I called and Mark at Zzzzz's could care less that we never got our delivery but wants my help tracking down mistakenly delivered items from Amazon. I Loved Home Depot and bought almost all the stuff inside my home from them over the years. Now they want to make their poor choice for a shipping company my problem and have charged me 2 times for an water softener that was supposed to be delivered that I now am required to go pickup? Really I am truly disappointed with the way that Home Depot has handled this situation. Up until this matter I would have given them a 5 star. Home Depot has clearly changed trying to shift blame to the credit card company and shipping company's and washing their hands and making it my problem. I wish I could find the water softer I need some place else. I hate to give Home Depot a another penny. I'm upgrading the review. I spoke to a very nice Lady Debra in the dispute resolution center. Once she looked at the notes and called the shipping company she clearly saw that the issue was on there end and refunded our money. Placed an order it was supposed to arrive on a Monday between 12-4 then at 5pm it was rescheduled to the following day at the same time. The following day at 2:30pm it was then updated to unknown delivery time. So I have now lost 2 days of time and have no product! I called the store and after talking to a machine for 10 min I asked to be transferred to an actual human. It said it was going to transfer the call and then hung up. read more

The worst experience I can remember. They have canceled three separate deliveries for a stove after being four hours late in each case. On one occasion, the truck was within a block and a half and decided it would take too much time and canceled the delivery. This was at 7 o'clock at night after we waited all day. They could not have been more rude or disinterested. Never ever again. read more

I wanted three things, a lighter for the outdoor picnic and grille I was heading to, some good powerful soap to wash my hands after grilling, and some of that heavy duty moisturizing hand cream you need after using the kind of soap that takes care of a really greasy mess. They had two of those three things, and the third is only available on line. Annoying. Finding this out took three attempts, I had a Goldilocks experience. The first worker was just too busy to help me. The second worker was just too new to know anything about finding things in the store. The third worker was just right, although he was in the middle of something he took a look at some device he had in his hand, told me where I could find the first two things but told me about how the hand cream wasn't in the store -- only online. So far we are talking about a four star experience but when the cashier ringing me up asked me "did you find everything you wanted today?" and didn't bother to listen to any answer, I was annoyed. Don't make your check out employees ask questions like this unless you, Home Depot, wants to actually listen to the answer and make some corrections. read more

I ordered mini Venetian blinds from Home Depot with curbside pickup from the Kentwood store because I was going to be in that area. The price was good so I ordered 5 of them which would cover all the windows on the west side of the house. Several hours after they attached my payment, I received a notice that they had cancelled my order (no reason given) and I could expect a refund in 3-5 days! This is totally unsatisfactory! No one pays for goods prior to receiving them! They should never have put the funds on hold if there was a question as to whether or not the items were available! I visit this location quite frequently and while I always get excellent service yesterday's visit was exceptional. When I went to this store it was with the intention to purchase what I needed to make my own chalk paint. After a discussion with Gretchen, from the paint department, I decided to buy the pre-mixed chalk paint. Gretchen explained that she could color match the pre-mixed paint to what I needed and that is what sold me. That and the fact that their Behr brand chalk paint was a fraction of the cost of other chalk paints. Gretchen even had to go in search of the paint, as there was none on the shelves, and she did it all with a smile. Gretchen seemed very knowledgeable and confident in her position and I wouldn't hesitate to ask for her help again on another project. Thank you Gretchen! read more

I made the costly mistake of hiring Home Depot of Kentwood to install Allure Engineered Flooring in an Apartment building I own. Home Depot requires that you pay in full for all labor and materials at the time you order. I want to stick to the facts as they are indisputable and will allow anyone to draw your own conclusions. I was initially given an installation date of February 7-8 as my purchase was initiated the last week of January. I subsequently added a second "job" to install the same engineered flooring in the common areas of my building currently having linoleum on February 4th. February 7th arrived with no contact from "the installers" supposedly a " separate company " called CFI ( "Certified Flooring Installers "). So I sent my property manager to the Kentwood Home Depot on February 8 to pick up the boxes of flooring and "transition strips" only to find that the store had zero boxes of my flooring in stock with none set aside by employees for my two jobs requiring 13 boxes total. Unfortunately apparently Home Depot does not "stock" any transition strips I requested multiple times from multiple employees that I be given an installation date and was eventually told it would be no sooner than February 27th. Home Depot requires each job be inspected and measured at an additional cost a few days after the order is processed. My two orders were around $2,600 total labor and materials. The day before the installation date I was contacted by CFI installers and gave them my property manager's contact information and he was contacted and a time of 9 am was set up for the installation. The next morning at 5:30 am my wife and I were awoken by a phone call from an installer stating he was at the location ( we live in California 3 hours ahead of Michigan) and no one was there to meet him. I gave him my property manager's contact information and 5 minutes later he was there at around 8:40 am twenty minutes ahead of the scheduled appointment. The installer began the process of removing the old flooring and uncovered approximately 2 sq ft area revealing hardwood flooring underneath. He informed my property manager that he needed additional materials from the Kentwood Home Depot and would return to complete the work. Instead I got a telephone message from a Home Depot employee stating that Home Depot would not be returning to complete any work. The excuse I was given and have a copy of the voicemail directly from my phone here states that ""Good afternoon Mr. Oppewall this is Brenda calling from the depot I a.m. the manager over for installs here and I wanted to give you a call um our installers went out to the residence today to do the installation and upon removing the existing flooring they discovered that the subfloor is rotting in almost the entire area this is something that would have to be repaired prior to installation unfortunately we're not able to do the installation at this time um something else I wanted to mention to you as well we discovered that _⁠_⁠_ _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ um in that in the residence is unfortunately not he did so we would not be able to do an installation in that room at all unfortunately it would not be able to cheese at installation if you are give me a call back here at the store so we can discuss options in further detail the phone number here is 616-975-4440 thank you very much..." So I called the Kentwood Home Depot after speaking with my property manager and I have photos showing that the subfloor is intact hardwood flooring underneath and only 2 sq ft had been uncovered if the 150 sq ft first job and none of the other job area linoleum flooring was removed to reveal the subfloor. I asked to speak to the flooring coordinator and three times in a row I was just cut off completely. When I called back a fourth time I asked an assistant manager to send me a copy of the alleged photos showing that the "entire area had been inspected " she refused and told me she was terminating my call. That's what happened. So Home Depot will gladly take your $2,600 They will gladly inspect your job for $35 and approve you for a proposed installation date. Then a month later you will find yourself having to seek legal advice from an attorney to attempt to get your money back after they refuse to honor your contract with them. You will waste many hours of your time attempting to pick up materials you have already paid for but are not in the store. You will wait weeks for special order materials that are basic to any flooring installation. You will then be simply told that any installer can decline to perform the work contracted for whatever reason they imagine. You will then have to take legal action to get your money back and as for your lost income, time , and the time required for you to start the process over well you're just unfortunately someone who didn't read this review before deciding whether or not you want the same experience. read more

I decided to order weatherables privacy fence from home depot. Ordered first week of June because listed as in stock. They said best delivery date was June 20th so I would get everything. Project needed to be done by July 4th. I pulled all the old fence and was ready for delivery and nothing! Called the shipper, had 1pallet but not the 2nd will call when comes in. I have 10,000 lbs of cement in my driveway, had to rent equipment to move it into garage. Next call my pallet was sent to Arizona trying to get it back. Now July 19th, lost my helpers to other projects, fence still not here and clients and their neighbors are pissed at me. Thanks Home Depot! You need to hire quality shippers! I literally JUST left Menards, and came here to pick up some landscape pavers. I will say that the difference between the customer service at menards and here was black and white. The Home Depot wins! I was greeted right away when I walked in the door by customer service. The car - carts were clean and ready to use (my kids FAVORITES! !!). On our way to the garden center, Tom greeted us and asked if we were looking for anything special. I told him "landscaping pavers." He took us there, and helped us pick the best fit for our needs. He even helped me figure out how many we'd need. All the while, he had the department phone that rang, and other customers, and Tim handled it all without getting frazzled and being totally courteous of everyone! Jeff came to switch phones with Tim and just asked "do you need any help? " while putting on his gloves and jumped in to help. It was awesome! Then Tim pushed my heavy cart to the check out where Evan greeted us with a smile. After bringing my kids to my car, I pulled up to the garden center where he and Evan cheerfully loaded up my car and both men wished us a "safe drive home. " Seriously- well done, Home Depot! Both online system and customer service staff in the store are on top of things. This in comparison to Lowes, Home Depot is light years ahead. I ordered some in-stock and ship to home items from Lowes too. Their response time is slow and are very disorganized. The items I ordered cannot be tracked and arrived incorrect. I called ahead of time to be sure I left it, when I arrived at the customer service desk the woman who assisted me was incredibly rude and should definitely not work in customer service. Do not purchase any appliances from this store. They use RAS Logistics to deliver their products and they set a time window to deliver and made a scene about how the drivers were irresponsible when I called them. Ben from RAS was telling me how they were irresponsible and did not deliver any items and the ones they did they damaged homes. When I called Home Depot and spoke to Jamie and tried to speak to her manager Paul but he wasn't in apparently. The delivery driver called me the day before and never showed and Home Depot didn't care even when I told her RAS told me all this. They never sent a refund receipt so I called back on 09/03/2020 three days later and it was less than what I paid. So I bought a refrigerator that never was attempted to be delivered and your going to refund partial of my money. When I spoke to RAS Logistics they notified they didn't know where the truck was or if the drivers even had the refrigerator anymore. I notified Jamie and she didn't seem to care but notified the drivers were lost, if that was the case why wasn't I notified? They told me they were irresponsible drivers that the managers have been trying to get a hold of them all day for prior damage from their previous deliveries. I was told different stories and Jamie notified she refunded the 2305.80 to my original payment that I have received or gotten a receipt for the return. I called on 09/03/2020 because it has been three days and no refund and I spoke to Jessica from Utah and she sent me the receipt but it was not the full amount that should be returned. So now I have about 6,000 worth of appliances that I canceled as I haven't received the first one which was a refrigerator so I don't want to have the same thing happen for the stove and microwave. I am unable to purchase new ones until I receive these credits that they are refusing to give me back. The stove and microwave were going to be delivered in late October 2020, which is more than a month and a half away but they took the money out of my account. Now they don't want to return the funds so I am able to purchase my new appliances and I had the appliances taken out 3 weeks ago since I knew these new ones were coming. I purchased a refrigerator previously so I had one to use while I waited for the one that never showed. Do not buy appliances at places like this they use third party delivery people who never show and don't care your out 6,000. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Then speaking to Jason who runs the store said I was verbally abuse to their associates when I never received the refrigerator. Then Jamiee I spoke to at Home Depot online stayed she refunded the amount 2305.80 on the first. It never was so I called on September 3, 2020 and waited three hours for a refund I never received. It is September 9, 2020 and still no refund. Jason tried to tell me I was verbally abusive not upset that they treated me like garbage and notified me they were giving me a refund that never was processed. When trying to talk to Jason he claimed I was yelling when I spoke normally. I can't believe this entitlement these people think they have and they don't care about whether you received the product they charged you for. No one wants to pay for what they haven't received. How can a company think a customer is not going to be upset when they don't show up and the company delivering said the drivers were irresponsible. I ordered a "locking lid container" online. I was glad to see the customer service desk right as I walked in. There was a long line and only two employees working. The signage over one desk says online orders, so someone cut in front of the entire group waiting and stood alone at the empty desk. When it was finally my turn, I mentioned that the signage above the service desks is confusing; the staff member reported she hears that often, but no one has done anything it. I was given my container without the lid. I had to wait longer for a service member to go out and find a lid for the container. By the time it was all over, I wished I had just paid the shipping to have it delivered to my house. read more

It's a Home Depot, big chain home improvement supply store. Probably the best one in town, they have a very good selection and are always stocked well. My most recent experience with them was in the paint department. Very happy with my results. They have a large selection of paint to be applied on many different surfaces. Store is excellent, layout is very similar to most stores. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I recommend you come here for your home improvement needs. Or if you intend on making a giant Trojan horse they have the lumber, hammer and nails needed. (I would probably use deck screws though) read more

Home depot basically sucks to suck and I had to keep the dishwasher even though I wasn't even there to sign for it. They then called a few days later saying they would take the dishwasher back. Had a quote for windows and it came out high than we wanted to spend. this wasn't a problem until they called me to tell me about a promotion where if I came and purchased my quoted items they come give me a discount off my quote and told me what the price would be and everything. I responded that it was now where we were comfortable spending that amount. We drove about 45mins there and spent about an hour reviewing the order and signing off on the order, this whole time at the new price. This is not a price I was telling him. This was a price he kept reinforcing to me. Long story short, we got all done and now the price is back to the original price that we had turned down the first time. They wouldn't honor the pricing that he called me with a week earlier to bring me in, which was the same price he had been quoting me for the last hour in the store as we verified dimensions. while we were there, there was another pissed off customer trying to get a special order door they lost for over 2 months and still couldn't find. Would've been awesome except the worker dropped my title loading it into my car! So I didn't expect this trip to be easy- I'm doing a mini overhaul on my kitchen and I needed kitchen laminate, tile, and a sink. It went moderately well finding the sink. A few customer service people directed me to the general area of the sinks and I found what I needed. There was no one in the tile area initially but I found what I needed just fine- no biggie. The laminate was tricker but a friendly rep helped me more or less. After talking to the rep, it was determined I needed to special order the laminate, and I was directed to the check out station. Who then sent me to the customer service station because they didn't do orders there and they guessed that customer service did. Customer service couldn't do a special order so they sent me back to the kitchen area. I burned about a million calories walking back to front of this store with all this. Susie in the kitchen area was phenomenal getting me in and out I her station. She is he only redeeming part of this trip. So I finally check out with everything and the guy helping me load the title into my truck drops the whole box on the cement. I actually screamed when it happened. I made him stop what he was doing to check the box for cracks. Mind you it's dark by this point, so it wasn't easy to see, but thankfully I only found one sheet that had a crack. He offers to get me a new sheet but I said that they were all out and I'll just take a refund. I tell him that I took the last four boxes off the shelf. He continues to say he'll double check. We go back and forth the whole store again- customer service, then to the tile section, then back to customer service- until it was confirmed- as I stated-there was no more tile left. Customer service bumbles their way through the return, calling the manager, Sarah, to try and return a single sheet of title after it was purchased in a box. I had to go back out to my car to get another sheet of title that happened to have a mini skew sticker on it, because between the customer service reps, and the manager, Sarah, no one knew how to do the return without it. The thing that really pissed me off about the whole ordeal was that no one apologized. The guy who dropped the box said the box wasn't packaged correctly. Sarah, the manager, barley acknowledged me standing there while they looked for another title sheet in the back. It's only when I directly asked her what her name was that she made eye contact with me. She only spoke to the other worker, just loud enough so I could overhear them. Naturally, no apology. The customer service gal who did the return never apologized throughout the whole annoying ordeal of them looking up a single skew number for the title sheet return. Nor did anyone seem embarrassed that no one knew what they were doing. Did I get a deal on what I was buying- yes, I'll give them that. But otherwise, the service level was depressing. I wasted my night here. Whatever Lowes charges, its worth it, go there. read more

Excellent service! The staff here are super friendly and make sure you get the help you need, even recommending other places if they don't offer a product or service there. It's like they're part of the community, not just another business out to get your money. It is slightly pricier than say Big Lots or Meijer, but they do have a much larger selection and a very knowledgeable staff. Last time we stopped by to get blinds trimmed because they were too long. DeAnna was able to cut them to the perfect size for us free of charge! I will definately be coming back for all of my home DIY needs :) read more

Went to this store, ordered a new Weber, paid for it and clearly agreed that it was to be assembled and delivered as part of their "free assembly ad delivery" promotion. Delivery was scheduled for the next day which I thought was quick service. Unfortunately, the delivery truck showed up, driver informed me the grill was NOT assembled so after checking with the store it was sent back. It's still sitting at the store unassembled, follow up call says they don't know if or when it will be assembled. They took my money quickly enough, didn't deliver as agreed, and apparently have no desire to make good on their end. Have never liked Lowes, but THEY had the exact same grill assembled on the floor and priced the same along with free delivery - guess I should have bought at Lowes (their floor personnel were MUCH friendlier and knowledgeable - had trouble even finding someone to assist at Home Depot). Will be making Lowes our preferred store in the future and moving H. Depot down below Menards in our shopping preferences. So, make damned sure you get everything in writing from H. Depot should you choose to shop there and expect something to be delivered. Ours has been a most unsatisfactory experience! read more

Yesterday I stopped my Home Depot needing deck stain. Larry the manager of the paint department truly impressed me! He helped and advised me as to what woukd be a good choice. Helped me find a product to remove paint from my porch. He also was one of the most engaged employees I have encountered on a long time. He spoke highly of his team and of how Home Depot cares about their employees. When a company cares about their employees they truly care about the customers! Kitchen Dept not too Busy 4 Social Hour. After going to my local home depot in Harper Woods to get assistance on kitchen cabinets the associate made me feel that we could go to any home depot at any time and get support for our project. We landed at the depot on 28th street in Grand Rapids to help my mother in-law with her kitchen. Agreed we didn't have a appointment cause we were coming in from out of town and due to other circumstances couldn't set a definite time to hit the store. Either way every other store we've been in they usually are hounding you except for when you really need help. So my beef with this store is for 2 reasons. First being they directed us to go on line to make an appt. As we stood in the store searching the website that basically just tells us the opposite of what we got in store. My second complaint is relative to their lack of help. They told me that we couldn't be helped at all because their schedule was booked solid. Under normal conditions id say ok and leave but as we stayed in the dept discussing our project watching 2 kitchen dept associates sitting at the desk for 20+ minutes socializing, no appointment in sight, not doing anything on the computer station just chitchating and you don't bother to approach us and say hey I had a no show appt so I can help u after all is the RUDEST customer service I've ever gotten. read more
