They showed up on time, walked the space with me before moving anything, and didn't treat the job like a rushed drop-off. That alone puts them ahead of many delivery crews I've dealt with over the years. My setup isn't the easiest. Tight turns, older framing, and barely enough room to work without bumping something you can't replace. They handled it without complaining or cutting corners. They took the time to check clearances, make sure the hookups were right, and confirm everything was sitting the way it should. No guessing. No "good enough." They stayed with it until the install was correct. What I appreciated most was that they treated my home with respect. They moved carefully, communicated what they were doing, and kept the process calm even when the space worked against them. A lot of delivery outfits push speed over quality; these two didn't. They did the job the way it should be done. If Home Depot is measuring its delivery partners by the quality of the crew on the ground, AJ and Ellis are the kind of employees who build trust with customers. This is a very large, very well stocked Home Depot. It's not the closest to my home, but they carry a few items I couldn't find at other stores. There is ample parking in their huge lot and there are lots of available baskets. I usually have a little trouble finding available staff in the aisles to help me, but after a little searching I can always find someone. I will always be thankful to this store for having my bathroom floor tile in stock. They literally saved me thousands of dollars. After visiting 3 other stores - they had the tile and the price was AMAZING!!! I was close to ordering from a very expensive, specialty flooring store and in the nick of time, found exactly what I needed here. When in the Harahan area, I'll use this Home Depot, and if I'm looking for something a little special, I'll check here in the future. read more

Apparently everyone that works at Home Depot, specifically on Friday May 3, is worthless with the exception of the customer service and flower garden ladies. I needed help in the garden section and I asked the cashier if I could get some help with finding a few specific flowers. The male cashier told me to check the site online and see if the specific flowers I was searching for waa online and in stock. So I responded with, "no one is around to help instead of wasting time doing that? And he said sorry. So, I went back to where I was trying to find what was needed. Then I see a nice brown haired lady rolling in flower beds. I asked her the same question as I did the cashier and she went above and beyond helping me out. She took me inside the store where there were even more flowers and introduced me to a few I may get in the future. She was very knowledgeable and deserves a raise. Then I needed shelving. So I walked past a home depot employee who was a female in her 50s with dark hair and a bit heavy set and said we needed help in the shelf aisle to cut some shelves. She mumbled she was off to break and that the cashier could help me. I was very put off by that unprofessionalism and went to the cashier. The cashier was also in her 50s, brown hair, maybe 5'4" and had a customer but I politely excused myself and asked if she could get me some help on shelving. She said she would. I thanked her and waited back in the aisle. I never heard over the loud speaker that anyone was to report to shelving after about 5 or 10 minutes and I went to customer service. I explained the blond haired young lady, that the cashier did not call for help over the speaker and I had been waiting a while now. She apologized and called over the speaker for me. I went back to aisle waited another 5 min and started to get the measuring tape and wite cutters that are in the section so I can start cutting the shelves since clearly no one is coming. Finally, a man in his late 30s or early 40s shows up. I smile that he is here and said I needed help cutting the wire shelves. He said it looks like you have it all set, my cut would be the same as your cut. I look at him extremely pissed off and say well you're here now can you cut the wires please since it's your job?! I mean really....couldn't believe he so lazy. Completly worthless. I wish I could I said I wont be back bc I unfortunately have to go back and i guess they know that so they dont have to do their jobs. I will just go to customer service for everything from now on. If Home Depot needs to know the names of any of the employees mentioned they can check who was working Friday May 3 at around 7pm. read more

We bought a grill online and when we got to the store to pick it up the grill was entirely to big for the car. There was no way that grill was getting back to the house. While brain storming we were greatly helped by two of your employees. This is my home base Home Depot; it's the one I grew up near so I still now the layout of the store the best. The garden section is good and I've had amazingly helpful store associates on occasion. Seriously, I once had a guy cut a complicated piece of glass 5 times to get it right...which was above and beyond as I needed a weird geometric shape for my transom. I do have to admit that I miss them being open 24 hour like they were pre-K. interesting that 99% of the registers are now self check. This is really a problem with your item is not marked and the "helper" is so busy talking to the other employee that you cannot get help. They are obviously understaffed as they continually have aisles closed during the day to stock. This make it really difficult when you need an item on the closed aisle. Most people know Home Depot as a do-it-yourself kind of store (and I've bought enough supplies for home projects from here over the years). It seems like when I visit these days, it is more often for basic yard maintenance supplies and greenery from the garden department. I don't know how many bags of mulch and potting soil I've carted home over the years. Their hanging baskets are often on sale and are usually cheap enough that I don't mind buying a new one for the one I forgot to water for a couple of weeks. Actually I have enough empty baskets by the potting table that I sometimes just buy one of those 18 packs of annuals and make a couple of my own. Not that they necessarily survive any longer. Don't expect a lot of one of a kind exotic yard plants. Go to Bantings or other local nursery for that. But if you like something that several of your neighbors have, it's probably here and at a decent prices. One change I've noticed over the years is that the Elmwood store's garden center doesn't have the big end of the year let's get rid of everything before the Christmas Trees arrive sale. I came in here to get 2 sample-size containers of pink paint for the munchkin's bedroom. Apparently, they have a whole section of Disney-themed color swatches. I'm still debating between Blushing Piglet and Tink Pink, but that will soon be resolved. Anywho, the nice young lady at the paint counter mixed up my samples, and I picked out the other necessities - kit with rollers, brush, etc., painters tape, and drop cloth. I think I was in and out in about 15 minutes, thanks to the awesome self-checkouts. I'm not a fan of hardware stores, probably because that was my first part-time job ever, so the less time I have to spend in one, the better. The quickness of the trip earned them 3 stars. The friendliness of the paint counter lady earned them the 4th. This store is on my way home from work. I'll either come back here, or go to the one near my house in Marrero to get the rest of the paint. It just depends on which one is more convenient. I like this Home Depot location. It's convenient, not too crowded and the employees are helpful. It's pretty easy to find your way around the store and the employees are always checking in to ask if you need anything, so I can't think of a time, when I found myself wandering around flagging an employee don't like a damsel in distress. This Home Depot is a you get what you need. If you are a DIY type, this is a great one-stop shop to get what you need and go. However, if you are looking for the thing to fix the bigger thing in the room in your house and you want it in a particular, size, color or shape...they do a great job of helping you out with assessing your needs, no matter how unhelpful you are in describing your situation and education on the best options to get you going. We made the mistake of going to the nearest Lowe's to our house a few months ago to buy a fire pit which I also made a review about on their profile. When we left Lowe's and decided to make the drive to Harahan, it was totally worth it. We found so many employees as soon as we walked in and we were actually able to ask someone for help in directing us to where the fire pits were and then BOOM. We got what we wanted and checked out in less than 15 minutes we were out of there. The difference in customer service between this Home Depot and the Lowe's in Metairie were like NIGHT AND DAY. I had surgery on my dominant hand 2 weeks ago and for that reason am unable to lift anything over 5 pounds. I explained this when asking for some loading help with heavy mulch bags. Josh was kind and excellent and loaded it on the cart for me. He explained to cashier that I needed loading assistance. I waited for 15 minutes and reminded the cashier Alyssa. no one came. Purchased a Ryobi 3000 Pressure washer from Homedepot, I thought since it was a honda engine that it would be good. Boy was I wrong, should have stuck with Briggs & Stratton. I purchased Summer of 2018 used it once. Made sure to run it until it die before storing for the year indoor. Just a few weeks ago went to use it would not start, long story short the 3 year warranty is a Joke and I had to spend over $100 bucks to fix something that should have been covered under warranty. Rude, unprofessional manager. I tried to buy 3 bags topsoil at a self checkout. Scanned the first bag and the system starting calling for assistance for a manager or cashier to enter the number of bags I had. It should have just let me scan it three times. The person at the register next to me was having an issue where his register starting asking for assistance. We waited about 3 minutes with no help so he just walked out. I continued to wait and got the attention of a cashier. She just nodded and never came over. She finished with a customer and had no one in line but did not come over. After 5 minutes of the two registers verbally asking for assistance a manager showed up. Instead of helping me finish my transaction she started working on the register where the customer had left. I asked why she was not helping me first. She said se was already helping someone. That was a lie because I saw the customer at that register leave the store and walk out into the parking lot. I suggested she help someone that is actually at a register that is having a problem first. She mumbled something under her breath. I said I guess I will have to leave too and that is will be reflected in a reviews. She kept her head in the register and said "It won't be the first time". I know nothing about gardening, and I had to go to the outdoor dept twice today to get more of the same things. When you do find someone to help you (there's not many out there), I'd like to think that I'm getting the right information. Instead, I get 2 totally different answers to my questions, and I'm also told I need to buy a 40lb bag of potting soil (he said that's the smallest)....but I found an entire wall of 8lb bags! It's just frustrating. Also, I had to make a return and the blonde/light brown haired woman that was working the counter (it's a Sunday) was either having a bad day, or she's just a miserable person. First off, I placed an order for a dishwasher through an employee who was normally stationed in bath, Cathy. She apparently didn't know what she was doing, because when I said "I need a haul away and an install because I have no idea how to do that." what she heard was "haul away only." So 2 weeks later, the day of the supposed installation, a guy shows up and sees my still-hooked-up dishwasher. He says "I don't know how to unhook that...or install a new one...." so he just drops my new dishwasher into my kitchen and leaves. I call the store and explain to them what happened. It took 2 days for someone to call me back and tell me that they will have someone come out and haul away the old one and install the new one. This is where Hackbarth (company that does installation jobs for Home Depot) comes in. The two guys had NO IDEA what they were doing. They told me there was something wrong with my counter and I needed to drill a new piece of wood in or glue it to my countertop because they couldn't mount it. They told me there was NO WAY that Maytag dishwashers could be lowered in the back. I believed him. He was wearing a GE jumpsuit and told me that if I switched to a GE I would not have this problem. I told them to leave and called Home Depot back. Home Depot then sent out two different installation guys who mounted it on the sides, but said they couldn't on the top. They also left the dishwasher tilted forward, so that it wouldn't be able to drain properly. So I called Home Depot AGAIN. Home Depot then sent out the same two guys from Hackbarth that they did in the beginning. They said the same thing to me. No way to lower it in the back, you'll have to buy wood or glue it instead of mounting it. I just told them to leave. At this point, my dad gets involved and simply reads the instruction manual, which says IF IT NEEDS TO BE LOWERED THERE ARE BACK WHEELS. CHANGE THE POSITION OF THE WHEELS TO LOWER THE BACK. I call Home Depot AGAIN and they send out two more guys. My dad shows them the instruction manual, the guys do what the manual says, and the dishwasher is VERY EASILY MOUNTED. All it took was taking 5 minutes to look at the damn instructions. I'm very disappointed that Home Depot does business with a company like Hackbarth that employs people who are shady characters that obviously don't know what they're doing or talking about. I'm disappointed that it took over 4 whole days of me taking off work and waiting around for them to figure something out that took my dad 5 minutes to figure out, all because of this. I also filled out a customer survey from my receipt on their website asking to be called by a manager about all this and was called by someone who rudely said "You know we're taking care of this......RIGHT?" And tried to make me feel bad for leaving a bad review on their site. The only saving grace is the first employee, Joel, I spoke with in Dishwashers who went on his break before I got to buy it from him, and one of the managers (not the one who called) named Russell, who was incredibly nice and wanted to get this problem solved for me. tl;dr: Took them 4 tries to install a dishwasher after my dad looked at the instruction manual for 5 minutes and told them how to do their job. read more

Great customer service. I drive WAY out of the way to come to this location because its a nice experience. The store feels calm and organized. The employees are VERY knowledgable and willing to help. They will cut your wood for you promptly. The lady at customer service was so kind to me, and even got me some old pallets. THEN another man loaded them into my car and tied them down. I was then invited by another employee to come back for a women's DIY night!
