There are always so many employees walking around in here and no help for some reason. I scanned the barcode that was supposed to call for assistance in the isle where half the items were locked up and no one came after 10 minutes. I went to the returns desk and asked for help, they said they were going to call someone. No one ever came after 5 minutes but there were at least 20 or more employees walking around having casual convo with one another. I've only needed help in here twice now and it's after 9, the garden section gate was supposed to be open at 8 and wasn't and there are too many employees roaming with nothing to do for there to be no one to assist in here. read more

Call 7:45 in the morning ahead for a return 5-22-26 asking best way to handle process explaining it was a large lumber order that required a forklift or loaded onto a rolling cart that could be not moved safely. Was instructed to pull over the lumber department go to the pro desk they would unload inventory in the return would be handled there. Arrived at 9:00, I asked my employee at 11 am, Said he was still waiting. I dove there From my office 11 minutes away. I asked with assertiveness requested a manager 3 xs for help. (the 3 young workers at the pro desk didn't seem to be equipped Given the circumstances customer service.) After another 30 minutes another mature customer service Home Depot person apologized for the experience. That softened The experience. Young manager showed up not asking what the circumstances were to avoid a problem in the future, But what do you want me to do. By that time we loaded the lumber onto a flat dolly cart. If moved I feel was an accident looking for a place to happen. I've been in business for 55 yeasr. growing my company with customer service. Lowe's Or Larson lumber , economy lumber , Golden State Lumber and local lumber yards may be a better option in the future for customer service. read more

Today we spoke to one of the managers in charge And we want him to be accountable to discuss our concerns to the head manager and even to the district manager. We got to talk to Pak Yee this afternoon to discuss our concerns of the wait time to get help in any department whether it was: 1. to open the locked cabinet for those red green different colors wires sold by the foot 2. to open cabinet for tape measure or tools 3. (Today) to get assistance on lights halo recess lighting ... 4. Or anything in general, We always had to wait at least 30 mins up to 1 hour with multiple times going to the front desk for assistance. That is totally insane, especially when we see 8-10 Associates standing around. Geez what do we have to do to get help! -only 1 person is trained in 1 particular department and that person was at lunch, mia or who knows sick maybe ... -why can't there be 2+ people at least on the floor per department instead of useless personnel just standing around clueless? -why isn't Home Depot management team empowering young men and women and getting them cross trained in different departments? Today we got lucky after 45 mins of waiting and asking for assistance that we saw Filo! Humble as he was, he answered that he knew a little and that he would try to help us. Please cross train him! He is a keeper and empower him to different departments. For sure we don't need to hire "pretty" lazy unhelpful personnel to stand around to look pretty for your PR! PR would be good when customers are happy and satisfied with good customer service and not have spend 2 hours at Home Depot and waste our time. Hands down the worst customer service. At the Hayward Home Depot (and surrounding stores), it's impossible to find anyone willing to help. When you finally do, the lack of professionalism is shocking -- no effort, no care, no accountability. The biggest insult? They don't cut wood anymore. Every time it's the same tired excuse: "the cutter's broke." Meanwhile, this is a home improvement store that literally sells table saws on the floor. You'd think they could figure out a way to help customers get lumber cut to size with the tools they already sell -- but instead, they just shrug it off. What's the point of selling building materials if you can't provide the most basic service to go with them? Absolute embarrassment. Take your money somewhere that actually values customers and knows what "home improvement" means. Last note: The parking lot is crawling with illegals harassing customers -- ICE could round up a busload any day of the week. read more

This review is for the kids seaplane project day. It's FREE so you can't or shouldn't really complain. You can register online or register when you arrive. It's literally right in front of the store so you can't mix it. It's only while supplies last. They have turf and tables around so it's first come first serve regarding work space. They'll supply you the planes and paint. Don't worry parents, the paint is very easy to clean off your kids hands and arms. No employees are supervising so watch your own kids because they leave screwdrivers and hammers around the area. Again. It's FREE so you are definitely getting your money's worth. My ONLY complaint.... It's like 81 right now (high will be 95). If you look at my photos.... There is no shade. Some of us moved tables closer towards the store behind pillars so our kids didn't cook in the sun. Its was still very warm in the shade. I felt bad for the kids directly in the sun. It's Home Depot... they could have put some patio umbrellas out there for the kiddos. read more

Excellent customer service! There's several local Home Depot locations, but the Hesperian location in Hayward is my go to! The representatives are always friendly and helpful, especially Edwin, in the garden department! I was trying to rescue/repot an orchid and Edwin was very knowledgeable about what supplies and plant care I should proceed with. He gave additional plant health tips and even knew where other home improvement supplies were located at the store. Definitely a one stop shop and I was grateful for Edwin's help, since I only needed to ask one knowledgeable representative, vs asking several people from different departments. Will definitely recommend this Home Depot for all your DIY and home improvement needs! read more

My wife and I have undertaken the daunting job of upgrading our home. The first thing on the list was our kitchen appliance suite. We shopped many stores and purveyors of appliances... and I mean MANY. Our first replacement was the refrigerator. We found that this HD store and its service, personnel and subcontractors, stands apart. As indicated, we shopped refrigerators and ended up back at this HD store. Our decision was a result of selection, the sales personnel and after sales service. We purchased the refrigerator and it was installed. We were totally pleased. We then, a month later, shopped for a dishwasher. Once again, shopped around. Ended up back at this store. Again, totally satisfied. Stove/oven, same process. Done. Clothes washer, busticated. Another terrible experience with Home Depot. We wanted to order a security screen door to be delivered and installed. They had us pay a $40 deposit to have someone come out and measure the front door. A couple weeks later we got a call that we could come in and order the door. We bought the door and paid the installation fee. A few days later we got a call from the installer to schedule installation. They were booking almost three weeks out, so I booked the soonest appointment they had. The day of the appointment the installer came with the door and showed me that it was clearly damaged as though someone else had had it installed and then removed and returned to the store. He stated that he would bring it back to Home Depot to exchange it for another door that was not damaged and come back. Two hours later I called Home Depot and they said that the installer came in and left the door there stating it was damaged and walked out. Wtf?! So they said they would reach out to the installation company, who would reach out to the installer and they would get to me. Crickets. Called Home Depot again two hours later. Nothing. In fact, the door department didn't even have any clue this was even happening! The lady from the door department said she would try contacting the installer and see what was going on and call me back. I'm guessing I'll be paying full price for an install that didn't take place on the right day. Remind me not to shop here any more. read more

Four Stars on a Home Depot review?! You must think I'm crazy. Let me explain... Credit due where it's earned. I've *unfortunately* have had the pleasure of visiting many Home Depots in the past. It's hard to get away from this store as they sell products that are often needed for home repairs & improvements. While shopping online is sometimes an option, in person and on the spot is often the position I find myself in. This HD blew me away. First, they have plenty of carts literally at the entrance of the store (See attached photo). This by itself is a huge plus. Why do I always have to hunt down a cart to purchase your products? This place gets it. Second, everywhere I turned there was an employee. All the departments also had staff at the desk or standing around. Once again, I expect to have reasonable access to staff but that has rarely been the norm in other Home Depots in the past. I would have to wander around hoping to find someone to help. Not here! Help is usually easily found. Third, they have very good selection. We were at a HD earlier in the day and they were very low on stock. This HD location was well stocked and we literally found everything we needed! Lastly, no long lines to check out. We were in and out very quickly. While I actively attempt to avoid going to HD, I'm going to make it a point to visit this HD in the future if I need anything. read more

One star is generous yall. Here's a tip, if you are in Hayward and need anything from a hardware store, go to Ace or any other local hardware store instead where there will be helpful, knowledgeable human beings to help you and to ring you up. Home Depot Hayward is typical of most businesses in Hayward, you can expect everything to be kind of dirty and falling apart, most things in this location out of stock, and no employees on the floor that can/will help any customers. This store has only robot self-service cash registers. Not one regular register with a human cashier. Home Depot can afford to pay humans to work here, this is the type of business that makes no sense to be self-service. Almost everything requires an employee to approve or to put in quantities or dimensions, or specify what type of material it's made from. The lines are long and chaotic because there's no cashiers so instead of hiring human cashiers, they pay a security guy to stand there and break up fights and keep people from cutting each other in line. It's hilarious, it feels like the movie Idiocracy walking into this place. It really seems like this company was just really desperate to lay off their lowest earning employees, but it just doesn't work for this type of business. There are lot of other much better (but smaller) hardware stores in driving distance, try one of them instead. read more

MARTIN THE RUDEST! returning a faucet and buying a different faucet, Martin from returns called me, I said that I just got the faucet and if I can exchange it. He said only refund and I pay as new transaction for the new faucet, and I said yes.... My tone is with curiosity and smile "so i cannot pay the difference since the one I want is $45 more" and he said no, and thats been that for years! With the look at me like Im stupid. Its Homedepot, you need to know what you are in for, and be ready to advocate for yourself. I've had nothing but decently good to better than expected experiences here. I've rented carpet cleaners, and pressure washers. I've bought all manner of supplies for repairing home. Yeah, the wait to get keys cut can sometimes be long, and if you are unlucky no one will know how to use the machine, same goes for anything like that. That said, its home depot, they are your best bet for most things in that world, and this is quickly becoming the only game in town as well. Home Depot in Hayward has to be one of the better well-stocked Home Depots in the East Bay area, that is also clean, well-lit, and organized. The San Leandro and Oakland locations have limited stock or their stock number (what shows up online) is not correct. These past few months I've been trying to find ladder mesh - which is a very hard-to-find masonry product. Most Home Depots either don't stock it or don't have it in stock (despite the website saying they have plenty of it in-store). Hayward Home Depot is the exception - the website stated they had plenty of it in stock... and lo and behold, there was plenty of the ladder mesh to be found! So for those of you trying to find ladder mesh for your gardening trellis needs, skip the San Leandro and Oakland Home Depots and go to the Hayward one... they have LOTS of it! Other PROs about this Home Depot location? Lots of parking. Also, inside the store was not full/packed at all. Lots of social distancing, making this location a win-win for me. read more
