That's nice that you took Lowes' idea and designated a parking spot for veterans. But when I had to get out of my car and push THREE carts out of the way to park, that's a problem. The spot is so close to the door, you'd think an employee could easily keep that spot clear. But the entire parking lot has a problem with carts blocking parking spots, so the issue is more than just a veteran parking spot. Today was a great experience! Steven was a HUGE help at the register with pro services, pleasant & professional with my experience dealing with purchasing a master lock. He tested it for me to make sure the keys were good and he directed me to Juan. Juan was also very pleasant, professional and helpful, making spare keys for me. Steven was then was gracious at following up and checking me out. This is one of the few times at this store that it was easy to get Service from the staff. 1 1/2 minute read: Yesterday, I wanted to use my garden blower, but came to find out I couldn't recall where I put the battery, that snaps on in the back. Since I bought the leaf blower at HOME DEPOT, I hightailed it over to HOME DEPOT, to buy another battery. However, with me, whenever I'm looking for something, I NEVER CAN FIND IT! Then, when I'M NOT looking for it, somehow ... THERE IT IS ... sitting right there ALL ALONG! ANYWAY, I asked SIRI to get me directions to "The nearest HOME DEPOT near me" and there I went. You know that HOME DEPOT has done what other big companies have done- cut down on employee. Now, when you're ready to pay, it's a self serving deal. But there's always one or two cashiers that can guide you through. I had to ask one cashier for help and she did. She called someone to "GO TO AISLE 18, Customer needs help!" In a few minutes, a young man wearing a HOME DEPOT apron, came in my direction. His name was DANNY. I told him I needed a battery, showed him the picture of it, and before you could whip potatoes, he found it. Actually, DANNY impressed me in more ways that one. Danny was courteous, very courteous and patient, as at times I may ramble - a bit. He was very knowledgeable regarding the battery I needed. All in all, Danny was very service minded. This review goes to the lumbar department & their inability to communicate clearly and effectively. When I arrived to this location my goal was clear in mind-- Cut a piece of shelf hanging wood pole. I talked to two workers and they told me THEMSELVES customers are expected to cut their own wood. Sure, I attempted to work the machine and no luck. I then requested assistance from three different people & waited 25 minutes before someone was able to assist me. After waiting patiently, the worker (didn't catch the name) in a hurry, hears my request, misinterpreted the information, and didn't clarify. He proceeded to cut the wrong measurements & then claimed that I told him "to do that". Look, I understand simple miscommunication. Yet to become defensive & proceed to be rude exclaiming "that's all we have" , and "you asked for this". I gave you the size we needed, I brought an actual pole to compare the size I need, and you don't even care to assist me to try and make this right by suggesting a different material or where else to get this problem solved. All they had to do was come, unpressed, asked for clarity, & reassurance to ensure no mistakes. Spent so long waiting and wondering who can help me only to be forced to leave to a separate location that can actually help me out with a simple task. All they needed to do is ask, are you sure? Is this what you want? If an old lady came in alone and needed the same thing done, would she be met with the same hinderance? The entire value of the experience was below par, the waiting, the lack of initiation to problem solve from the workers, the mindset "not my department not my problem" creates holes where patients that need just a little more help, fall through. Hire people that actual can work with a smile (or fake smile) through it. Or pay them more. He seemed like he didn't get paid enough. Just drive a little farther out the one in Burbank. I had a really disappointing experience at this Home Depot. My family and I came in looking for assistance, and the employee named Andrew was incredibly rude and dismissive. He acted like he didn't want to help us at all, and his attitude made the whole interaction uncomfortable. My parents are immigrants and don't speak English very fluently, and instead of being patient or understanding, Andrew was short and unkind, even when I stepped in to clarify what we needed. Thankfully, another employee named TJ came over to help us. TJ was polite, patient, and respectful. The exact opposite experience. I really appreciate his professionalism. Unfortunately, Andrew's behavior left a very bad impression. Maybe his behavior is due to baldness seeking him. I really can't say enough great things about this Home Depot. If I'm being honest, I don't think I've had a bad experience at this location even once and I've actually pushed the envelope on several occasions by showing up at 9:59 PM to make very large returns with multiple items. If I put myself in their shoes, it would definitely not bring a smile to my face if someone were to do this one minute before closing time at the end of my shift, however, Carter, the general manager, as well as the rest of the staff that I've had any encounters with, have all been extremely friendly, regardless of what time it is. I'm sure everyone who helped me in this type of situation was tired and probably looking forward to finishing their shift so they could head home but you would never know by speaking to them. There are very few places these days where businesses actually live up to the old saying, "the customer is always right," however, in my experiences, this North Hollywood, Home Depot location does exactly that. I am just super grateful that this happens to be my neighborhood Home Depot because I come here a lot; probably waaaaay more than I should but what can I say? This place is like Toys "R" Us for adults and with a staff as professional, courteous and knowledgeable as the one here under General Manager Carter's direction, I could hang out here and shop all day long and not even realize it.
