We ordered 12 boxes of flooring for curbside pick-up at the store. Home Depot personnel selected and loaded the boxes. When we unloaded them at home we found that 2 boxes were damaged each having multiple flooring planks damaged. We had to make a return trip to exchange the damaged boxes. I expect better service. Home Depot personnel should never have loaded damaged materials. Recommend if you're getting in-stock material you inspect before accepting. read more

No wonder their parking lot is empty. Couldn't find anyone to help with water heater. Had to go back to the front desk to get them to call someone. After about 10 minutes a guy showed up. I would like to praise your delivery of my new Hotpoint washer. Logan was most efficient in installing my new washer. After he left it started leaking during wash cycle all over basement floor. I phoned and told them the problem and they were very concerned when they could get someone by because of the weekend. At around 5:30 my door bell rang and it was Logan and he immediately took care of the minor problem. He came by on his way home from work. Employees like him are a plus for this wonderful store. I have been a customer since they opened and can't begin to express how great everyone is when I shop there. It is a valued business in Paducah. They have always been a joy to deal with. I went in to buy a freezer and the one I wanted was not on display. They had 8 in boxes. I told them I wouldn't buy something I couldn't see first. The 3 in that department said they couldn't open one. The two at the front return desk just looked and me and said sorry. I called back to talk to manager and was disconnected after about 50 rings. They act like they don't care if they make a sale or not. Won't go back. read more

I asked my husband to pick up some Birch plywood at the Paducah Home Depot for a project I am building. I wanted it cut down into strips 15" wide along the full length of the 4x8 sheet so it was easier to handle. When my husband requested this service from the associate, he said, "I can't do that. We don't do your project for you." Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the panel saw located at the rear of the lumber area is there for this very purpose. The associates at Lowes are ALWAYS willing to make these cuts for me, as I am 5'3" tall and weigh 135 lbs, so managing a 3/4"x 4'x8' piece of plywood is problematic. Next time I will order from Lowes since they don't keep Birch plywood in stock, and have the nice associates there to cut it down for me. Home Depot officially lost my business. read more

Well, it always surprises me that a town like Paducah has two Lowes AND The Home Depot, but...it does. Somehow, they all three seem to do decent business, but that is even more surprising based on my last experience there. We bought a cheap little weed-eater. Just the store brand, $80 version. I got it home, started to assemble it, and noticed there was grass on it. In fact, the entire thing had been used, put away, and sealed back up! It wasn't in the clearance area, so, what's the deal. When I brought it back, the lady at the return desk didn't even notice me there for 2 or 3 minutes. She was in the middle of a conversation with some other employee about schedules or something. When she did notice me, it took a bit to even explain that they sold me a USED trimmer! If you can't go to a local-owned place, at least try Lowes first. read more

Walked through several departments without a single person acknowledging me. Decided i wanted to buy a fire pit for the cooler evenings. Could not find them on the floor so nicely asked an employee for help. They told be they were upstairs and walked away. I went upstairs to what looked like an employee only area. The upstairs was full of boxes with random stocking numbers. I found an employee up there and asked where I could find the fire pits. She pointed in a general direction and said "I think they are over there, but I do not know." After searching I found the one I wanted stacked about 9feet high. I am 6'1" so I could just reach the bottom of the top box. I shimmied them out with my wife watching expecting them to fall on my head. After I finally got it down I started with the stairs with this large box that blocked my view already planning my fall down the stairs. Luckily my wife found the elevator that the employees failed to tell me about, thanks a lot. I approached the check out still carrying the box and this employee offered no help either she scanned the box and told me the total. After finally sitting it down I asked about a military discount, for which I got a snotty NO! sorry. I paid and carried this large box out past a manager who also did not ask for help. Large disorganized store with no help. Home Depot and Lowe's will continue to get my business. read more

Not living in Paducah, my experiences with Home Depot here have been infrequent, but I can say they've all been positive. However, on my most recent trip, I felt the need to give kudos to the associates. An issue came up with trying to order some flooring where I was going to end up spending a lot more money than I had originally planned due to some issues with their special orders. However, who I assume was the shift manager sat down and spent almost 2 hours working with us to try and get the issue sorted out and ensure that we spent exactly what we were expecting to, working around the system problem to get us squared away. I didn't feel like he had to spend that time, he could've just told us that it was a computer issue like so many other places would have and just given up. However, he literally sat there with us and we worked together to figure out a solution. I think people like this employee should be recognized and the store should receive credit for recognizing his customer service skills and putting him in a position where he could utilize them effectively. This experience definitely entices me to make the longer trip to Home Depot over other local alternatives when there's a choice to be made. read more
