Just had the strangest experience today at Corning Lumber. Poor Service. For the first time in over…read more20 years of trading there, I got blown off. I asked for kiln dried fir knowing they had to order it. The Rep was cleaning a butcher knife while talking to me. When he learned I only needed 6 boards he's shrugged his shoulders and recommended the "big box store" in the next town. No I said; I like Corning Lumber for quality. He replied that he supposed he could order it but it would take a week. I knew it required special order. I just replied oh well and left. Recently a friend commented to me that Corning Lumber must want to go out of business. He had had a similar experience. Corning people are straight talkers. I'm used to that, but I am not used to a I don't really care attitude.

I'm finally back home to spend some time at my house and I'm seeing my back yard, I got some trees…read morethat need trimming. Not big giant lumberjack needed kinda trees, just some low branches that need trimming. I heard of these chainsaws that are battery powered and not very heavy and safe enough for someone like me to use and not have it kick back and chop my head off or something. I got a guy friend to go with me down to Harbor Freight Tools cause that's suppose to be a place to get tools and the like for not too much money. The quality might not be professional level, but for occasional use homeowner like me it good. We get down there and look around. I do find a couple of options for cordless chainsaws, but wait, hey, they don't include the battery for the saw! Who sells a tool without the battery included? So I looked around and I think they have some batteries, but I'm not really sure they the ones that fit exactly, and the cost is really adding to the total. It kinda pisses me off that the tools don't just come with the battery, so OK, screw it, I'll go look somewhere else. I guess we'll have to drive to Redding and look at Lowe's or Home Depot. At least we can get a nicer lunch up there in Redding.

They had plenty of green ones and no blue ones. I told her I really preferred the blue. A moment later, a guy came out from the inventory with one last blue one. That was great service. I purchased the blue one and she told me more will be in stock on Thursday. So I will pick one up then. The store is in a great location with plenty of parking, and very clean and orderly. The price was good compared to everywhere else that I had shopped.

We had some good experiences in Redding and some bad. We drove down to Red Bluff and visited The Furniture Depot. We met David and a few members of the team. They patiently helped us find the right sofa design, seat foam density, and fabric choice for our sofa. We got fabric samples and took them home. They answered all of our questions with a smile. We ordered a Stanton Model 605 sofa with our choice of fabric and seat cushion foam. The couch arrived within the earlier part of the time frame they quoted. They gave us a specific time frame for the delivery date. The delivery guys called us first, arrived within that time slot, and did a great job delivering the couch and hauling the old one away. We have had the couch for a week now. We absolutely love it. It is exactly what we wanted. We will purchase from them again and refer our friends to them. We saved money over buying the sofa from the Redding dealer, even figuring our two trips to Red Bluff and the delivery charge. The service we received was top notch. Tip: If you are taller and heavier than average and want a quality sofa that will last....Look at the Stanton 605 with the High Density seat Cushion. Half dozen roses were red and the other half were called sweetness roses. They were white with red tips. I tried to keep them away from heat, she told me to cut the stems at an angle under water, I was apprehensive, but I did it 2 days after I got them, because they were already wilting and browning. The blades were easy to find and install. Did it myself, but I think they'll put them on for you for free. Rain - X is a blessing for rainy weather.
