My experience with Malcom was beyond what I had expected!. Truth be told.... I had gone to Lowes to get windows for our house. The man was Ok at best..far from friendly just giving my BF a price saying there was a 15% discount on the windows. I told my BF lets check out Home Depot.... I have both credit cards. That man could not at Lowes could not have cared less! His desk and chairs all around him were FILTYH with dust and debris. Truthfully, his sucked! You really think when I going to spend 5 thousand dollars I want to sit in filth?? And that is the absolute TRUTH! Malcom, at Home Depot, was/is amazing! He spent his devoted time with me showing me the different pricing for my needs. I can not say enough about this man!! Oh by the way I am a female that KNEW jack shit about windows! Ordered an item and it was available in the locker - so this should be quick and easy, w/o having to interact with anyone which is great, right! Nope. Went to the locker, entered my code and it said the door was opening....it didn't. Tried again about 5 times and no luck...it thinks it is opening, but it isn't. I exited the screen and scanned the QR code...doesn't exist. Entered the code manually as before, no longer exists. It THINKS I have the item to my info has been cleared.... Had to wait about 10-15 min for the service desk. She went out to the locker and opened it - empty; and looked in some of the other locker numbers...no item as expected (1 gal of deck stain). Went back in, did some research and she said it was in locker 24 and not the original 33. Opened up locker 24 and it is not the item - opened up other lockers in that area...not there. Went back in and called the person who supposedly put the item into the locker; apparently issues so it is NOT even in the locker - but off to the side where customer service was actually the place I should have gone to, but was never informed of that. So much for in and out as anticipated. I could have gotten the item from the aisle and shelf and been out of there in 5 mins vs. the 30 mins spent there. I went to the Salem, NH Home Depot this past weekend to return two small items (under $20) with a receipt, and was met with some of the worst customer service I've experienced. The associate, Donna, had a terrible attitude, rolling her eyes and making it very clear she was annoyed I was returning items. It was unprofessional and uncomfortable. This Home Depot should be closed. The customer service department is being staffed by two women who couldn't care less about your issue. I had placed an on line curbside pickup order for 30 bags of top soil. When I got to the store, my Depot. app was not working, so I went into the store and told the women I was here for a curbside pickup. She looked to the other women and said that he was here for a pick up. I said my truck was in spot 1. After 45 minutes of no response, my wife went into the garden department to find someone to help us. She finally found a person who told her to go to the back of the garden department where our order was sitting. A young man drove a fork truck and picked up the pallet. He was trying to put it in my truck, when we noticed the bed liner was being destroyed. I told him to remove the pallet. which he did. We saw the bottom of the pallet had nails sticking out. My bed liner now has a large hole and torn up sides. We tried to get a manager to look at the damage but they could not find a manager right away. Finally an assistant manager came with an insurance form for us to fill out. The assistant manager (her name was Tammy) was the only person who actually cared about the situation and helped us file a claim. I have a love hate relationship with this Homo Depot. This place KILLS ME every time. We have made special orders here for doors, windows, and such. One example, is we ordered a special sized French door. 1. They NEVER call you when it comes it. 2. This door came and was DAMAGED twice and the wrong size, once. 3. The employees never give you the correct info. 4. Their inventory system is all frigged up. They do not have certain items, but can not order it as their computer says they have 3 or more in stock. This store is closest to my home but I always try to go to the new Lowe's in Haverhill or the Londonderry Home Depot which for some reason I do not have these problems. read more

I ordered an air conditioner at Homedepot.com. Last night the tracking said it was delivered at 10pm. I went to the store to pick it up and the employees in Salem NH made a point that I was stupid because it said delivered not ready to be picked up. Hoe is the customer supposed to know that. Tomorrow is supposed to be 95 degrees and my wife is stuck in the house on oxygen. I left the store and a half hour a got a text saying it was delivered. I went back to the store and guess what...it was in a trailer out back since 10 last night but nobody unloaded the trailer. Homedepot needs to make their online messages and texts more clear. Went to the Home Depot this weekend and I tried to use the bathroom and it had a very unpleasant smell and there was feces all over the tiling and some employes orange vest on the floor with the smell coming from there. My child had to leave the bathroom because it was so bad and I heard sexual noises coming from the bathroom stall (the big one) where the employee was sitting (with his clothes off) all of his clothes were off and draped on the floor, as a parent stayed there and waited to confront the worker and some red haired heavyset middle aged man came out of the bathroom with a shocked look on his face as I accused him of doing inappropriate behavior in the bathroom and he told me his name was Nick lapointe but his name Nate said salem. Very unhappy with this disgusting behavior. As I left he let out a booming flatulence that wafted towards me. Extremely unprofessional behavior and now my son has pink eye. This place is a joke in the past month me and my husband have bought two different items Milwaukee vacuum and Ryobi weed wacker we thought were brand new un used both times we brought them home opened them up and realized multiple pieces were missing both times. So clearly these are returned items they are getting back not checking and sealing back up and putting out for sale again idk what their process is for returns but it's not right. Both times we went back for returns the workers could care less about the issue and don't even acknowledge their mistakes. Went to this location to purchase a few items for a bathroom Reno. The staff made it seem as if they were being bothered for simply asking to bring down stock. Afterwards I had the most unpleasant encounter with a cashier "Marla", whom was not only unprofessional but also uneducated about the standard procedures of her job title. I typically use my "military discount" especially now a days when everything has become so expensive, but Marla did not wish to utilize my phone number or ID to access my discount. I've had mixed experiences at Home Depot in the past, but the help I've received at this Home Depot is definitely above and beyond what I've gotten at other Home Depot stores. One of my first visits was for paint, and the paint team helped mix up samples for each area we were planning to paint, advised on finishes, and when I was ready to get started painting, helped me pick out the right tools for the job. Our most recent trip, yesterday, we went to get a grill and Luis helped us take a part off of an already assembled grill and loaded it into our car. He made sure that we knew how to put the parts back on so we would be all set when we got home. We definitely appreciated his extra effort! read more

Hi, Not sure if you are the person who handles this but I had an experience at Home Depot and it kills me to see how bad the Customer Service is there. I bought a washer and dryer at Home Depot in Salem, NH 3 weeks ago. They came out to install the dryer and they didn't have the correct part(hose). I then went and got the part at the store and 2 people said I should just install it myself. It's easy enough.  I replied I don't feel safe doing that. They gave me another install date for the part, 5 days later. Installers arrive and after 2 minutes say, we can't install this dryer, you need a plumber to change the ventilation from the back wall to the side wall first. I called the store and spoke to Melany and said Home Depot should pick up the plumber bill.  No one asked me any questions about where my ventilation was etc. After speaking to a manager named Melany she said they  would give me a 100.00 credit towards the plumber. Feeling very haulted by everything I called the plumber and he came out and installed the part. Tested the dryer and it works. For Home Depot's sake I am really glad I did not try to install the part myself. Plumber leaves and I go to use my washing machine and it has an extremely loud gurgling noise from where the hose is going into the wall when it drains. It sounded like the hose to the wall wasn't installed correctly. I had to shut the power down after 10 minutes. Again, at 9AM, after being on hold for a long time, I called Home Depot and asked for Melany and she wasn't there. I asked for another Manager. Barbara who answered, asked a manager named Tiffany what they can do for me. Tiffany  says to tell me to call back after 10am ask for another Manager named Jennifer and they can't help me. I called again and I can't get through on either greeting that they offer. They have 2 choices Parts, or Product. Both numbers ring forever.  It's 11:04 and I feel like I know everyone at Home Depot in Salem I've been very patient with everyone because I know staffing could be decreased. It's now 3 weeks later and I still don't have my washer and dryer fully installed. In reading an article on getvoip.com I came accross these CS facts. Seventy-eight percent of customers have backed out of purchase due to a poor customer experience. I had to return the pressure washer I bought as a piece fell off while I was using it. I kept putting it off and by the time I got it down there it had been 35 days since I had purchased it. I was told the return policy on gas equipment was 30 days. Now I am kicking myself for not getting down there sooner. The return customer service person then said she would ask a manager. We made a pretty substantial purchase (new snowblower). The service desk was hectic but they did get our order set for an assembly and a "will call" pickup. Having not gotten the call on our pickup day, my fiancé called and asked. The lady told him that nothing was under his name and a different person was listed for his phone number. Then, she said the order number was wrong despite being told the correct number several times. He asked her to check it anyway- it worked. We picked up the machine that night. The shining star of this transaction was the very nice young man who helped us load the purchase. Sadly, he was not allowed to accept the money we wanted to tip him. Also- call ahead for the hours. They were not correct online and I saw them shut the doors in front of at least 6 customers who were there 1 hour before the advertised closing time! read more

Okay so not all my experiences have been great at the depot, but this one left me feeling warm and fuzzy. So my wife and I are completing a new home and have had to live in several different place during the move. So we REALLY WANT TO MIVE IN! We are suppose to have our final plumbing inspection when I realize I threw out the feet to the gas stove and can not pass the inspection with out them. I'm freaking out. I desperately go to Home Depot and big for some feet. They never asked me if I bought the appliance there.(witch I did not) They quickly took potty on me and gave me the feet from a store model. I've been here numerous times to buy odds and ends, sometimes mounting hardware, other times storage totes, and I have always found this location clean, well stocked, and well staffed. They even have a guy that says "good night" to you on your way out, reminiscent of good old Wally World. But this review isn't about that. It's actually about their truck rental service. At $25 for 75 minutes and $10 an hour after that (no more than $70 for the day), it's a steal of a deal. And if you bring it in just a tad but late, they don't overcharge you. Or maybe it was the handsome devil that I am that melted those ladies' hearts. I did knock a star off because I wasn't told I needed a gas receipt. It's probably in the ten pages that they hand you to sign when you take the truck, but was a little bummed that I had to provide one. And no, just having them check the gauge wasn't enough; most gauges say full even after burning a gallon or two of gas. Also, the truck wasn't topped off. We drove 23 miles on those nose and it took three gallons. All we had in the back was furniture, so there is no way we were burning fuel at 8mpg. Anyway, cheapest option I can think of. I may even use them when we go pick up our bedroom set. Cheaper than having it delivered by a long shot. read more

When I complained on day #2 they connected me to the store manager who told me if I didn't like it basically it was too bad offered no apologies and told me it would be several more days. Sometimes I can come here just to escape I have a aunt and she is SICK (not lookking good). She always tells me she will need this or that and I can just rely on home de to just come by and get the tools. I painted her living room the other day bevause she sleeps there now (she is sick). I didn't want to wake her up with the odor so I asked Home Depot what kind o should be using to not wake up my aunt. It worked great and thr living room is BRIGHT green. The problem has existed for over twenty years. The staff in general are either untrained and generally unwilling to get a customer the information or location of products not only in the store but in their own department. The last straw was I asked for assistance with a plumbing question. No one to help. A young male staff member said he would get someone. Several minutes later no one showed up. Back to the front the staffer told me he sent someone to the plumbing isle. No one there and the staffer strugged and at that point I went to Lowes and the plumbling person there solved my problem and took me to the product I needed. Home Depot is more convenient and if I know what I need I can use the store, however I have a question as to where a certain item is I usually get you can find it in isle whatever. Not helpful enough. Other Home Depots are far more attentive to customers Salem just is not and never has bee. read more

WINDOW INSTALLATION I'm sorry. I had a very bad experience with Home Depot window installation. I needed one window to be installed. First of all there are about 4 people that are involved. Then they give you a Project Manager who never answers his phone and when he does has no good information or customer service skills to offer. I live in Andover.. they SCHEDULED a morning appointment in Ogunquit, ME (full house) and it rained there so they ran into problems. That was a stupid mistake. Small job first. Then they tell me they have to reschedule 2 weeks out. I explained that we needed the window for an air conditioner. No one called me about the cancellation. I called them. The whole process was a nightmare. Two days out of my life. No problem for them apparently. No apologies. Just excuses. It rained. We have other people scheduled. 2 weeks out. Sorry. And to TOP IT OFF the window was a poor quality item. So it's overpriced too. 1. Get some customer service skills and communicate with the customer. 2. Have some accountabilty somewhere ????? 3. Don't make YOUR problem (rain, rescheduling, poor scheduling, poor communication) MY problem. 4. Use QUALITY merchandise. 5. Apologize if you caused inconvenience or made am error. NEVER AGAIN. Going with someone local who answers the phone. FOLLOW UP. Never again! I bought a refrigerator from home depot, the first time they tried to deliver it I got a voicemail saying the driver got lost and I had to reschedule a delivery. The second time the truck breaks down, the third AND fourth time they try to deliver me a damaged refrigerator. Every single time they attempted a delivery I had to make sure I was home during their four hour window. I called the store manager who said he would move this along to the escalation team for a quick resolution and follow up. No resolution of any type or follow up occurred. I've been here on several occasions, but now I take my business to Lowe's. I've come across too many employees in bad moods and / or attitudes. Customer Service is hit or miss. You're completely at the mercy of who you get. I notice the old ladies are usually hags and don't want to help you out. I.e., I lost my receipt for my LED lights that broke and she wouldn't even give me store credit. She thought I lost the bulb so that I get a higher-powered light. Thanks for the idea! Seriously -- if I wanted to I could just buy another bulb and return the broken one with the new receipt AND the packaging! After I explained this to the hag, she then asked, "Are you a contractor?" And I said, "Why would you help me then?" And she said no but then explained, "Oh well Home Depot gets more contractors because of our competitive pricing." After I did the math and got the "Pro" discount at Lowe's, it pretty much is the same thing. Which brings me to the next point... Secondly, they stopped giving me the 5% discount and they apparently don't do a "competitor's discount" (Lowe's) anymore, yet Lowe's does...er...I mean, "their competitor" does. I have been to other nicer Home Depots but clearly this location thinks they don't have to be nice probably since there is no sales tax in NH. Well there are more shows in town and you have sealed the deal for me to never return here again. read more

I am absolutely horrified at the customer service I have received dealing with the Salem, NH Home Depot, specially from the store manager. SO bad that we have cancelled and order over 5,000 dollars. Not only did they not even try to keep us as customers and make the situation better they were rude and unhelpful. They force you to pay upfront and then don't even have the respect to call and give you updates on why your delivery is late (because they didn't process the order on time) and then when YOU MAKE THEM EXPIDITE IT, they didn't even call to let us know that it was delayed, the flooring department will tell you they will call you back with an answer and NEVER do. When you call the store looking for someone to speak with they will transfer and keep you on hold for over 25 mins before the answer again asking, "What are you waiting for". HORRIBLE! On this busy Saturday morning an associate helped me and my Dad get a Christmas tree. As my Dad went to pay a sliver of his military ID showed. The man instantly thanked him and shook his had. This generosity meant so much. This location is always busy, but the associates are always able to point you in the right direction.
