I am a competent woman fully capable of getting what I need at home depot without any assistance. Yet, during my last 2 trips I have been bombarded by staff on every aisle asking if I need help. My last trip here was only for 3 things in 3 different aisles. The number of staff members that stopped me to ask if I needed anything totaled 10. On my way to the checkout, an older gentleman asked me the same thing and after I said "no," he told me to smile. It is excessive and frankly, inappropriate. The lady that sold us our refrigerator was wonderful and her name was Joslyn. That's where the good service ends. We had to have one of the refrigerators returned because it was too tall now we have the second one they say that they will be there one day I call the next day they say they're not coming again and now they won't be here till Saturday I would've stayed here all day from 12 until 5 o'clock if I had not called. I feel as the more I learn about DIYs and home improvement, the more I notice how much this particular store lacks in inventory and variety. I just can't seem to ever find what I need unless it's very basic like a 2x4 wood, gardening soil, or piping. The past few times I visited, I ended up having to drive to Lowes to find what I need. Items include certain types of electrical boxes or irrigation adapters. What irks me the most is that if I ask for where an item is, I generally just get an annoyed gesture and then a simple finger pointing at a general direction without even stopping what they are doing. Or, someone guessing a shelf number which leads me to nothing. It's seriously a night and day difference from the staff at the local Lowes. I'll still come here for basic stuff that I know exists there because of their convenient location. There are some nice and friendly staff time to time as well too. read more

The Home Depot stores that I've been to near Sugar Land, Texas are usually pretty good. From time to time I have encountered a small number of staff members who seemed less than enthusiastic to assist, but that's kind of rare. Honestly, I probably go there mostly because of their DIY Kids projects that they offer on the 1st Saturday of each month. It's a free fun event for the kiddos and you just have to register online ahead of time so they have an idea of how many DIY kits to reserve. My two small children love it and I've been taking them to these events for 7-8 years now. read more

I've read some of the reviews and I'm kinda shocked, because I feel like what I expect from a Home Depot is very different than others. Full disclosure, growing up, I was a carpenter's/construction guy's daughter, so there were many a weekend I was dragged to these stores all over Houston. Now as a grown woman, I can tell you that what's cool about Home Depot, is that it does a better job catering to larger, more specialized repair jobs. It's not glitzy. In fact, this store is cleaner than other stores. while other smell of saw dust. The pretty factor is just that...a pretty factor. I don't care how pretty it is. I need it to be organized, clean, and efficient. If I'm gonna fix something, I don't care if you have someone greeting me. I need to go in and get what I need and go out. So, I figure that's the clientele that Home Depot tries to cater too. The ones that want a job done. So what I'm politely saying is if you need to be greeted like you're at Wal-Mart, prepare to be disappointed. True, I've never been greeted, but if I really needed assistance, I could easily get it. When I go in, I'm left alone. Once I went in to figure out what type of bolt cutter I needed to cut some metal pieces from a filing cabinet insert I ordered from Amazon. I did a test cut on the metal I would be later cutting off at home. No one blinked an eye, because I was their to get the job done. Another time I pulled out several bolts and screws from my purse, trying to figure out which nut would fit it properly. No one blinked an eye. I even brought a handle that needed a smaller screw for it to be installed on a filing cabinet...again...no one cared that I was just testing everything out, while I got the right piece and that's why I love Home Depot. For the most part, people trust you, unless you're actually doing something shady. The only time I really need their assistance is the garden area, because that part of my "adulting skills" is severely underdeveloped. However, if there's something to be fixed, this place has got it, and it respects me enough as a woman to know that I know what I'm doing. General rule, I avoid warranties and services I've ordered through Home Depot have been pretty good. We had new air ducts installed, thanks to Home Depot reps standing outside. I'm generally very happy with the outside contractors and material inside. They have what I need and let me be, so I can go home and be the most handy-woman ever! read more

This Home Depot at First Colony Commons is my favorite in Houston area. It's in Sugar Land, to be exact. This store is a lot better than the one I frequent in Chinatown. I've never seen any day laborers crowding in the parking lot. The staff is fairly knowledgeable and helpful on weekends. There isn't any contractors, so customers are more mature and cordial. The huge parking lot is shared with other stores in this giant strip mall. This lot has so many entrances. The driveway near the end of store is a little weird. Went by this location earlier, I would say about 40 minutes before closing. I had to go in there for some screws to put together a TV stand. Went to Aisle 6 to look for a specific M4 screw, had the TV manual in my phone to make sure I get the correct one. I usually look around by myself unless I really cannot find the item I am looking for. I couldn't find it, so I approached a gentleman in grey, politely, for some help while he was fixing up some stock. I did say excuse me sir may I ask for your assistance, he turned around as if I had murdered his family or something -- I get it, it was the end of the night, we've all been at that point that all we want to do is get our job done and go home. Again, I asked him, may I ask for your assistance in looking for a specific screw to put in a TV stand, even tried to show him the manual I had on my phone... he didn't even bother to look at it. He proceeded to say rudely, what is the size? Mind you, I did try to show him the manual, he clearly said NO you won't find that here that's too small but you can look in this shelf or something. Didn't find the correct one in the section he showed me, so I tried to look closely at the other section and finally found it myself. Listen, not everyone who goes in there knows exactly what they need. So maybe instead of turning someone away and thinking they're dumb for even trying to ask for some assistance and being rude, how about helping out the person effectively so you can get us out of the store quicker. Over the years I have found myself shopping at Lowe's more often than Home Depot. Recently we moved and were given a gift certificate to Hime Depot so we decided to go and pick up a grill. We encountered the immediate lackluster service we normally get, and after almost giving up, someone named Roy Overton showed up. He was fast, knowledgeable, and friendly. He was able to efficiently answer our questions. As we told him we would shop around and come back for the grill he kept on finding us in the store every 10 minutes or so. He would pop up just as I had a question and always had the answer. He was like a psychic as this happened several times. While waiting in line to check out we discovered we needed something else and Roy popped up and went and got it for us. At the end he even helped load our truck. Roy Overton made our experience fantastic. He is someone I have talked about to many people and has set the standard for service everywhere. He said he has been there over 20 years and I believe it. I really hope he stays there and is treated well. I will return to this location just to support him. Thank you Roy for making our day a few weeks ago. You took a simple grill purchase and made it into a memorable experience. That shows true talent and skill on your part. read more

Went in specifically looking for an outdoor umbrella. Once I spotted one I was interested in I asked for help Trying to locate. The first woman who helped found it easier to Help me behind the computer and just browse the Home Depot website for an umbrella. I could've done that from the comfort of my own home. I figured I would ask a second employee help me locate the umbrella and check inventory. Well I did. And he (Ernesto) not only gave me the information to find it online but he also was able to locate it in his store. And honestly I don't even think this was the department he was working. When I went to checkout, I explained my situation. By the time I moved my truck, my supplies were waiting for me. DeWayne loaded my truck for me and even refused a tip. Avoid ordering appliances from Home Depot especially online and at the Sugar Land, TX location at 15505 Sw Fwy Sugar Land, TX 77478. On June 25, 2022, I ordered a cooktop online and decided I wanted gas instead of electric. I attempted to return the cooktop at the Home Depot in Sugar Land on July 1, 2022 the same day it was delivered. The supervisor initially refused to take the item and said I needed to have it picked up at my home. The online customer service rep on the phone had to persuade the store to take the item back, and the store manager had to be called. I was told the refund would return to my card. This never happened. I have been calling 1-800 numbers for over two weeks. Finally, today on July 19, 2022, I was told that the store should have given me my refund that same day when I returned the cook top, and IT fixed the issue on their end today. I was also told the refund could take up to another 10 business days and to still call the store tomorrow when the store manager is in just in case. So, I will still have to continue calling around until I receive my money back. This means the entire process could take over a month to get my money back from start to finish. I highly recommend NEVER, EVER ordering appliances from this store as the store employees and customer service reps are incompetent and uninformed. This entire process has been stressful and a waste of my time. I purchased a cooktop, oven, built-in microwave, trim kit, and hood. I regret dealing with Home Depot and giving them my business. They are definitely not equipped to deal with online sales and the in-store experience is poor as well. I ended up finding the cook top I needed at Amazon for $200 cheaper, and it was delivered right away with no hassle and no problems. I wish I would have ordered everything from Amazon which would have saved me from this nightmare. Going forward, I will check with Amazon first before going to Lowe's. Home Depot is just to too low end if you want good customer service and to get your money's worth. I only gave one star because there is not an option to give zero stars. As I said in my previous review I don't go to Home Depot unless Lowe's doesn't have what I'm looking for. Well, two weeks ago I was at Lowe's and they didn't have the item I was looking for, so I decided to go check out Home Depot since their website said the item was available and stated the aisle location. Nope, they didn't have it either. When I asked an employee he said, "Our website is never accurate, but you can try to order it online." You would think I learned my lesson right? Nope. Yesterday, was the final straw. Lowe's didn't have the style roll up shade we were needing to darken a bedroom. So, here we go to Home Depot. After all, what could go wrong right? I kept telling my wife over and over, "I hate going to Home Depot." Well, guess what. Home Depot had the right style blind. Now, I just need someone to trim it to size. Hmmm? Lowe's has those push buttons to signal for assistance. Not at Home Depot. So, my wife tracked down a guy. He told me they couldn't trim the blind even though the blind says "cut to size." In fact, their website says, "easily trimmed to your desired width." LOL! Why sell a blind that says cut to size when you can't cut the blind to size? How many windows are exactly 73" wide (ours is 71")? The employee was nice (for once) and you could sense his frustration as well. I'm sure we weren't the first ones to try to get a blind trimmed. So, we just went back to Lowe's and bought a cheaper blind that would fit our needs. Oh, and we had no problem having it trimmed. I will never walk into another Home Depot store again. I even deleted their store app since it's useless. I've NEVER had a good experience with this Home Depot and the majority of employees have bad attitudes. At least at Lowe's when you walk past their employees the majority would say good morning, but that might be because they see me there all the time. Either way, do yourself a favor. Go to Lowe's or even drive a little further to Ace Hardware. Any one of them are way better than the hassles you get at Home Depot. read more

Extremely rude staff. I was looking to return an item. I asked a cashier when I walked in the store where to go (he had no customers, just standing there). And he pointed towards the far end of the store and snapped at me, "Can't you read!?" Well, I can read. I just hadn't seen the sign way off in the distance obviously. Shout out to this location!! This is not my usual go to location but they came though when I needed them! I was in need of a pickup truck for 1 hour. I didn't call ahead to reserve or even ask if they had one. When I pulled up I noticed someone leaving with a rental. My first thoughts were "damn he just took the last one and I'm up ish creek" but when I walked in and asked about a rental last min at almost at closing time, the young lady stopped her coworker from leaving in the truck. When he came back, she asked him to allow me to rent the truck for the hour. He willingly postponed his ride home until I brought the truck back. Usually when stores are closing the employees aren't interested in doing anything extra; but not these two individuals! They made my day, and they went above and beyond with a smile on their faces. This is a place I don't mind spending my money at because they have people truly interested in helping their customers!! Y'all are the real MVPs!! My review is only for the Home Depot at First Colony Commons. I Went to this Home Depot to return an item that I don't need. Walked in, waited at the return desk, there was no customer waiting to return so I was the only one there. There were about four Home Depot associates crowding around talking behind the desk, none of them bothered to look up and greet me. Finally, after a few awkward minutes of waiting, one associate walked to a terminal, looked at me and said "we don't do any return, our system is down". System down! There were people shopping and checking out stuff so how can the system be down!? Even if it is down, you don't have back up options. It's not so much that I could not return the item and get my money back, it's more the way home depot associates are treating customers. They are rude, They do not care, and it's very obvious they have no pride in the way they do business. Sad. Home depot is my favorite place to shop for home improvement products and more. Please, don't ever order anything special order here, especially blinds! I placed an order in late January and I'm still waiting for a blind to be re-cut! It's April! Most of the employees don't know anything about blinds so I have to wait for the one person who does to show up. Her name is Pam and she's a saint. The one person who has access to my file on the computer (lol) was supposed to contact the people who were re-cutting my blinds I never actually talked to. I left her a message and I eventually got a text saying my blind was ordered but she never called me back. I would've appreciated some human interaction, especially given the awful experience I'm having. I honestly don't want to come back to a Home Depot after this. I keep getting texts from their text bot telling me that my order is pushed back. No explanation, no we're sorry the blinds on us. Nothing. We had someone come out to our house to measure for carpet. The person who checked out my husband apparently rung up my husband incorrectly for tile instead of carpet for $35. We went to investigate what was going on with this after calling in and receiving terrible email correspondence. In checking this in person we found out about the tile ring up io carpet and were then told that we would need to pay another $35 for measurements of carpet even though the person came and measured already. We turned to leave and then my husband asked if we could have the measurements we already paid for and they said no that's only for Home Depot. We were not allowed to receive measurements we paid for!!! This is absurd! I hope it was worth it Home Depot to loose over 5k of business for $35 because you messed up. What a bag of Pricks these people are. I ordered a vanity for my bathroom off the website. then I ordered a top at the store to go on top of the vanity. All of which should arrive on time for the contractor to start on my bathroom remodel. Well from the time I ordered the vanity to the time they shipped it they decided to discontinue it, and I had not ordered the 2nd vanity yet for my 2nd bathroom. The worst part it when my vanity arrived it was damaged. Now I have to try to custom order one (not from home depot) and reschedule my remodeling. My advice is do not take a chance of any of there fly by night items, go to a reputable store that deals with solid reputable businesses so you are not left out in the cold with your pants down. This home depot carries out inconsistent military discount policy. This store denied the discount when another store offered me the discount on the same appliances (also on sale) 10 months ago. At this store, the military discount home depot "offers" only applies to items not on sale. Heads up, almost everything in the store are "on sale". At the risk of sounding unappreciative and wanting free handouts, the discount is quite misleading. This home depot is not high on establishing customer trust and confidence. read more
