I was having a tough time finding the items I wanted at a Black Friday price. I was ready to give up but decided to make one last stop for furniture at American Freight, Tampa. This unpretentious furniture warehouse makes up for it's lack of gleaming showrooms and neatly positioned furniture with a large selection of merchandise, value priced and customer service that made my stop worthwhile. As I entered, Manager Will greeted me, asked what I was looking for and pointed me in the direction of the items i was looking for. He told me to search for the items I wanted and advise him when I was ready and he would answer any questions I had. He indicated that customers seem to prefer to shop without a sales clerk hovering over them, knowing that when they found what they were looking for or had questions they could ask for assistance. I was impressed with the large selection and price range of the items in this vast warehouse. When I had located all the items I was searching for, I sought his assistance and he was able to secure the price, colors and style I was searching for without upselling. The process seems to work well as the many shoppers there seemed content to browse for what they wanted. The customer service of those present to assist was appreciated as was the significant savings on the items I purchased.

Due to the lack of communication, I had to drive to the showroom several times to reach him in person, which is over a 45-minute drive for me. Eventually, I was able to obtain all of the materials needed for my projects. Overall, Ken did assist with selecting the fixtures for my projects, which is part of his role. However, improved communication, responsiveness, and a more welcoming customer service approach would greatly enhance the experience for future customers.
