I'm really surprised this Home Depot has only 2.5 stars. Maybe I'm just used to the Holland tunnel Home Depot that is tiny and hard to navigate? This is the biggest Home Depot I've ever been to. It's truly massive, and I think it's called a "super center." They must have literally everything in stock - they had an isle dedicated to everything. We came to buy some moving supplies and packing boxes. Everything was in stock, and we were able to get what we needed. I also found Myers hand soap, all the cleaning supplies I wanted... I felt good about our visit. That being said, the garden center seems like it was lacking. I didn't explore the full area, but they didn't have many plants for it being the beginning of April. The grill section left a little bit to be desired, all the grills were lined up and very dusty and dirty. I was curious to look at the Kamado Joe Grill, but they were covered in dirt, and one of them had been ripped apart. I had to climb over a 4ft box to even look at them. If I had a choice of all the Home Depot's, I think this would be my go to based on size and selection alone. Just to mention, Home Depot seems to have some of the best prices on the market, especially on their online store. You can also order anything online and pick it up in store if you don't think you'll find it in stock. Check out was easy, and the employees were nice. read more

1)The order was delivered on pallets. When I empty one of them at the bottom there were insane of garbage with plastic sheets together with decomposing food and a lot of spiders. DISGUSTING 2) The mulch, 18 bags of 30 bags were in bad condition, dry, with pieces of garbage, stones, plastic, mix with a white stuff (I don't know what it is) 3) I ask the driver if can take the pallets back. If I could give 0 stars I would. We got tossed around between designers, things got massively lost in those handoffs, they didn't respond to emails accurately, and things were generally extremely frustrating. Their manager, who was CC-ed on all communications, didn't even see the need to step in. We'll take our $100k for a remodel elsewhere. The takeaway? Stay away. read more

Rented a Orbital deck sander today from HOME DEPOT UNION NJ. I never used one and needed guidance. The young lady barely knew the product so an associate helped us out. He pointed out the items I needed to purchase with the rental, sand paper and pad. No directions were given or advise . ZERO. Had to send my wife to pick up the DUST BAG that was needed. Never mentioned that. I also needed to go back and pick up more sandpaper plus another pad. Questions like " how big is your deck" could have been asked to advise me to purchase extra pads / supplies. Very dissapointed in the lack of care I was given or instructions. We went with the full intention of buying a storm door and a schedule to have it installed as early as possible. I was directed to Doors and Windows next to Custom Design by one of the staff. I waited for my turn for half an hour! Only one associate was there helping this guy figure out what's best for every window or door in his whole house! So I got up and went to find someone who can help me make the transaction- storm door plus installation and a schedule. The first guy was too busy with the screen and the lady that came out of the Custom Design section in heels told me, that a staff can be with a customer for 3 hours! She went to the Doors and Windows to check with the only associate there still talking to this customer,then turned to me to say, "she's the only one here" and LEFT. Well, you just lost $214(Storm Door) + $55(hardware)+$127 installation fee + tax! from a single customer. This is my go-to Home Depot since it's down the street from me. I find myself going here quite often ever since I bought a house. I realize it's small and inferior to the Home Depot Superstore in Vauxhall, but it generally has what I need. I also like that it's not packed and hard to find parking like at the Vauxhall one. The employees here are generally friendly and helpful, though sometimes hard to find. I usually come here when I need something right away or it's something I can't really get off the internet at a better price, or I want to see in person first. I wouldn't really get things like light fixtures, plumbing fixtures or tools from here as they can be found cheaper online and you can research the item better as well. I also would rather get paint from Sherwin Williams or Riccardi Brothers (Benjamin Moore). However, I do come here for construction materials and the prices are good. read more

I had a problem that should have been simple. I bought a dryer, after 15 days it came and the delivery guy says it wouldn't fit. I went back to home depot after paying cash and I have to wait 3 days before I can get my money back. They kept trying to lecture me about doorways and sizes and delivery guys getting sued. I am just a customer who needs a dryer. They cannot help you. The problem here is that home depot has 3rd party delivery people so you end up dealing with two different companies. Home depot doesn't care if the delivery guys did anything or everything. I felt accosted and now it's been 15 days and I still have to wait 3 to get my money back and buy an appliance from somewhere that will take responsibility for the sale and delivery of the appliance. Home Depot you really really let me down today. At least the three miserable employees I spoke with today. I say miserable because those three didn't want to be at work. I went looking for a Brinkmann grill cover. I never owned a grill this was my very first one. I needed assistance with the covers. I look around and nobody to be found. I had to go around the store. I ran into a man and woman employee. The man was talking to the girl. My impression was that he was trying smooth talk the girl. I asked them "excuse can you guys help me? ". The man rudely replied " that isn't my department. Did you even measure your grill? " he says. I said no but I know it is a five gas grill. He says hmmm idk. Then I see that the same exact grill I have is on display. So I asked the lady employee if I could us her measuring tape. She said okay. She then said "wait idk how to measure this " hmm let me ask someone.! Wow arent you supposed to be trained. Meanwhile the man comes back and says " here ask her she works in garden". This lady named Felicia comes in eating a candy bar and says " yeah " you need to read the box " it is that simple. She made me feel so small and stupid. Came here with the expectation of taking a long time like every time I go and ask an associate for a specific item. I usually get a response like " it's not my department" and I will have to go hunt down another associate to have them tell me the same thing. The entire thing is incredibly frustrating! But this time The first person I asked was Brandon, who lead me directly to the item I asked for. It literally took me less than 5 minutes, he walked me to the item and back to the recycling bin for batteries. Hooray for Brandon, he is freaking awesome! He knows his stuff! I spent an hour on hold with no result. I had to drive here to be informed the system glitched and item was not in stock. I asked for return which they did only return my product not the warranty. They informed me I had to return my warranty myself online. I refused to leave and demanded they process the warranty return. They made me wait more 45min and still no result. Worse experience at any home depot. Had a 7000 order of building materials. Had the workers at the house waiting for it to be delivered since the morning. But was told it will get there when it gets there. Tried to rationalize with them that a delivery window of 6 am to 8 pm is not good enough when there are few hundred pieces of sheetrock, plywood and 20 foot long 2x12s. Then was told there is nothing they can do. When I asked them if they have a contact number of the trucking service they use, I was told that they don't have that information. My family was in the hardware business (Bloomfield Ave. Newark, b/ N12th and N13th) for over 60 years, and I worked there throughout my teen years. The Rt. 22 Union location is the older and smaller of the two Home Depots in Union. I don't often need help; I'm more likely to be one of the customers assisting others. When I have needed assistance, I've known enough to realize that the accuracy of the advice I've been given is no better than 50/50. While this is a lot better than the service at the old Rickles stores, it isn't a standard that can be relied upon. They usually know how to operate a key-cutting machine, but having a window shade cut has been frustrating. They don't seem to understand the difference between outside (bracket-to-bracket) and inside (shade tip-to-tip) measurements. I usually add a half inch to the inside measurement, then carefully trim with a utility knife. This Home Depot store is generally well-stocked, but lacks the floor space needed to offer the variety of the Vauxhall store. Home Depot is notorious for their abrupt changes in the brands offered, making it very difficult to refill supplies of consumable items and parts. They generally avoid the loss-leader strategies of Rickles; selling the principal item at a deeply discounted price, while gouging on the prices of the remaining supplies needed to complete a job. They often refuse to stock many basic hardware items, particularly the less expensive staples. Both Union stores offer rentals of both tools and trucks, and the process is a time-consuming ordeal. Returns are usually smooth. Two areas to avoid in your Home Depot experience are their ultra-low grade brass plated electrical wall plates and their Hampton Bay brand of ceiling fans (ours shorted due to manufacturing defect after 5 days). On the other hand, Behr paint is excellent and reasonably priced (top-rated by Consumer Reports, as well). The Rt. 22 Home Depot can be a pain to get to when highway traffic doesn't cooperate, but has plenty of parking. great home depot. what sets it apart from some of the other home depots around the area is that they had a plethora of store members willing to help out - and actually i couldn't really even find a non-busy store employee at first to help me find where i needed to go! its located in the same parking lot as wally world, home goods, and tjmaxx. so as complicated as it is to drive around that us-22 area, atleast you can hit all of those shops in the same parking lot without dealing with the annoying traffic outside. read more

My home store is Garwood but we were close to this location. I won't go back to this one. Under-staffed, dirty even by hardware store standards. There was a bottle of lamp oil on a shelf, tipped over with a large puddle, the spill was still there as we left. We bought a space heater. We waited a half hour while they tried to get a lot guy to put it in my truck. They finally called a manager. They said his name was Lewis. He said they had no lot guys but didn't make any attempt to help us himself. I walk with a cane so I couldn't do anything. Lucky another customer came by and offered his assistance.
