What happened to Home Depot? I've dreaded coming here for years, and today I experienced a completely new store. Historically, Saturday at the Victor Home Depot was a miserable experience. It's too big, even when we knew what we needed we couldnt find it, and in the rare event that there was someone in an orange apron to ask, they were often impatient and unhelpful (except in paint--they've always been terrific). It's Saturday afternoon at the big box hardware store, and today the Victor Home Depot is well-staffed with friendly, helpful and competent people. In lumber, fasteners, and paint (of course) different team members saw every request for help all the way through. No more sending us down an aisle without so much as a "good luck!" They all seemed genuinely glad to help, even the guy who offered to help load the car. The five stars are well-deserved, beyond exceeding our low expectations. read more

The aisles have become so obstructed with product specials, moving stairs, abandoned work in progress that it is almost impossible to get through with a cart. I believe it is a violation in case of emergency evacuation. read more

A product that had just came in under a promotion was not available on the floor yet so they went through considerable time and effort to get it down from a pallet while I waited. I appreciated it. read more

We purchased a Feather River door, front door from Home Depot. We were told that because our framing was 2x6 (pretty standard on newer homes) that we would have to order a custom door. $1560 later (and almost two months) it came in. After 5 months, we noticed a chip out of the front door, and realized we had a warranty from Feather River Doors. We filed a claim, took pictures, and they said they wouldn't cover chips in a $1560 door, so they sent us a color stick to repair it. The door we replaced was 10 years old and NEVER had a chip. When we were declined by Feather River, we re-read the "warranty" and saw it covers absolutely nothing. I blame Home Depot for selling a product where they can say, "there's a warranty," to get us to buy, and then have the warranty cover absolutely nothing. read more

I went here to make a return. At the return counter, there is a sign offering a free bottle of Coke if the representative, during this transaction, does not tell me about how I can save $100 at Home Depot. There was no such offer made. At the conclusion of the transaction, I asked for my free bottle of soda. I was told that the offer only applied when making a purchase, not a return. The clerk confirmed this idiotic analysis by calling his manager on the phone. read more

Bought a Samsung dishwasher and paid to have it installed. The first installers didn't get it set all the way in the hole and it wasn't level so the drawers would instantly roll back in. The second installers leveled it and then took a razor knife and hacked the right side door seal off so it looked like a 3 year old got a knife and went to town. The 3rd installers (and their boss on the phone) said they couldn't order the parts to replace it and I would have to go find them. I've been on the phone with customer service for an hour trying to get the part (which I've decided I'm better off installing myself). We paid them to install it and all they did was intentionally damage the unit. I would not recommend anyone have Home Depot install anything (I've had issues with other things but obviously didn't learn my lesson). I'lol use Lowe's next time. read more

While most of the time I find what I need at Home depot, when I went there last to purchase a seed spreader the pickings were mighty slim... I was considering their house brand spreader, and one looked like it had been used & returned and the other was dirty & looked as if it had been seriously abused. However, the people who work at Home Depot are usually very helpful, in fact, informing me that the one spreader had been used & returned! So... if the products Home Depot sold were in more salable condition, I'd bump this review up a star. read more

This store has consistently let me down with dismal customer service. On past visits I got the feeling that the staff was actively trying to avoid customer contact. I thought that installed services might be different but was, once again, disappointed. The young lady that I talked to was very pleasant but spectacularly uninformed about the products and services available. Complete waste of time. If you want to buy a screwdriver or doorknob or something then this is your place. If you need help with anything you are better off looking elsewhere. read more

I went to the Home Depot across from Eastview mall (not my regular location) and I was so pleased and surprised by the excellent survice and willingingness of employees to help me. I have not gotten this type of service at any other Home Depot locations I have been to, so wanted to applaud this location. I had several different employees direct me and help me in the store; all very pleasant and friendly. It seemed most of them were over 50-60 years old - so I'm sure that contributed to such a nice experience. This will be my new location to shop at from now on. read more

I had to deal with Bevan and Krystal and they are the worst. They need to be fired. They are very rude, and they don't have any people skills. Know wonder they are in retail as they would never make it in the real world. Retail sucks and so do they. Get off your butt and help your employees when they call you when a customer has an issue. Here is my experience today (7/25/2022) at the Victor, NY Home Depot. I went there to purchase a push broom, a fairly straightforward transaction. I found the broom I wanted, but it was on an overhead rack, and the "gate" for the rack was not much bigger than the diameter of the broom handle, making it difficult for me (an old fellow) to get it down. I went to Customer Service for help, and a young lady paged someone to come to my assistance in "brooms." As I returned to the broom section, a young man approached - and promptly started to help another customer. When I returned to Customer Service, the young lady who had earlier helped me was now on an interminable phone conversation with someone about something (Company motto: "Whoever is on the phone is more important than a live customer."). After waiting for a while, I asked another young lady in Customer Service for help, explaining the situation to her. She promised to send someone to "brooms," and I returned to that area. I never heard an overhead page to send someone my way. After waiting for a while, I finally figured out how to leverage the broom I wanted out of the overhead rack and was able to purchase it. A complete breakdown and indifference to customer service. Staff need a lot of additional training. read more

I came in to by mosiac tile for my bathroom renovation.It was $19.99 a sheet, but your online price was $181 per box of 10, and I needed 3 boxes. Not only would they not match the online price, but 3 of your associates insisted on arguing with me about how it has to come from Atlanta and it takes a week to come at that price. It would have been a savings of $58 for me. Is Home Depot doing so poorly that they can't help a customer save $58 ? Every other store ALWAYS matches the online price in store. Do NOT use Curbside Pickup, you will be frustrated and disappointed. To make it worse, if you dare complain , you will be so aggravated you will want to ask fir a manager. At HD asking for a manager just means you will be on hold an extended period of time and then will be disconnected. Masks are required to enter the store which I appreciate. I needed ant traps because those little buggers came in yesterday and they were fully stocked with all kinds of garden and home pesticides. Social distancing is followed! Many clerks walked by without asking if I needed help but maybe they were on break. One clerk did finally ask and helped me locate something I needed but hadn't found. Omg EVERYTIME I come here I get a person with a snippy snotty attitude. Whhhhy? I come with a sunshiney smile and its no use. I stand trying not to hover over the paint guy, because you know he doesn't like that. I stand ten feet from the counter glancing up to get eye contact bit he doesn't call me over to pick my paint up. So I stand 8' away looking at the banner above his and the other workers head looking time to time at them with a happy demeanor look. The coworker woman next to him finishes with her customer and ask if I need help. I say no, I'm waiting for him , thanks. He says orders right in front of me waiting for you. (in a snotty condescending tone) I told him, I'm standing right here waiting for you to call me over. It looked to.me like you were on tour phone.- he says bitterly. Ugh, no I wasnt. Just did a run to this store for some misc items and a curbside pick-up. Their customer service sucks.... asked for loading help on 20 bags of mulch (aka a drive up location to get them - I'll load) and was told I needed to get a cart, load them onto the cart in the caged area then pay and then load them into my vehicle. What??? Then I go to curbside pick-up area and per their process called. After it rang the department I was re-routed to the operator and she told me they are backed up (I was the 2nd car in the designated parking spots) and she then re-routed me back to that department. When the call re-routed back to her she told me they are still busy so I questioned it " there's only 2 card out here". She became adversarial and with attitude said do you want to come into the store (like it was a threat). I told her I was just in there and saw many associates just standing around. She then told me she was hanging up on me and did. After a second call, thank god I didn't get Ms personality again, the associate came out with my item, a 70 lb box. I commented that the operator has attitude and he just left the hand cart by my vehicle and walked away - never asking if I'd like help loading it. CUSTIMER SERVICE SUCKS so I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

This ticked me off so badly, I had to write a review. I picked out a wooden dowel in the lumber department, and sawed it to size myself (the tape measure at this particular station was broken by the way). Took it to the self-checkout and had to have the staff help me because it did not have a scan-able price sticker on it. Two staffers could not figure it out. They did not know what it was, could not find it in their database, and told me to go back to the department to get another one. Um, no, I'm not going to do that. Isn't selling lumber one of the reasons this store exists? I left without my dowel. read more

I went in looking for an item that they appear to not have. I don't mind that they didn't have it, but I spent 20 minutes searching, and didn't see any employees on the floor during that time. I ran out of time. I had to leave, and did see several people in the front of the store. I will try again in the future, and will just go to the service desk first. read more

After purchasing washer and dryer, it took almost month for delivery. Delivery service wouldn't deliver unless I changed faucet for washer hook-up. After qualified plumber checked and said it was not needed, I then rescheduled delivery. After delivery, I had questions on functions for washer. I stopped by store and saw salesman that had same model. He said I should call service repair to address issues. I guess service after sale ends with payment. Needless to say, I didn't buy extended warranty thru Home Depot. read more

Worst customer experience in the tool rental department at Home Depot in Victor, NY!!! Scott Hare is the most annoying supervisor/manager I have ever met. Quick background... In the past month, I've been working on some home renovations - refinishing the floors in my living room and front porch and also reframing and adding a new ceiling on my enclosed porch. I have spent approximately $1000 on supplies along with about 15 visits to Home Depot. Most recently, I had rented a floor drum sander for two separate 24 hour rentals. The second time I rented the sander (along with an edger), I had to return it by 9 am on Friday morning. Unfortunately, my daughter had an allergic reaction in the morning which kept her home from school -- and I had to get to a pharmacy to get her some medication. Long story short, I wasn't able to get the sander back to Home Depot until around 10 am (approximately an hour late). My frustration started when I was at the counter trying to reconcile the payment and the desk employee answered the phone four times before acknowledging that I was standing there. I asked if there was any way they could waive the late fee (a minimum of four hours at a cost of approximately $35). He said that only a manager could do it, so I asked to speak with him - that's when Scott Hare came to the counter. Scott explained that I was an hour late which meant that I was going to be charged the extra $35. Here's how the conversation went (this is very close to being word for word: Me: Is it possible to waive the fee since I am only an hour late? Scott: No, this was a 24-hour rental and you returned it 25 hours later. That's an hour late. Is there a reason you couldn't return it in time? Me: Yes, my daughter was sick and I had to get her medication. Scott: Sorry, I can't help you. Me: But it was only an hour late for a 24-hour rental. Isn't it reasonable time to waive the extra fee? Scott: No. Me: You don't feel that my daughter being sick is good enough of a reason? Scott: No I don't. Me: Are you willing to risk losing a Home Depot customer who just spent thousands of dollars in the past couple weeks for just an hour worth of time? Scott: Yes, I am. Me: Is the poor customer service that I have already received by being ignored while your employee answered the phone four times worth it to waive the fee? Scott: No, it is not. This is when I started to get very furious (and cursed a little). I just couldn't understand the idea that being an hour late on a 24-hour rental (under the circumstances) was worth losing a customer with all the potential purchases to come. He kept telling me that I was the one that couldn't understand how a 24-hour rental that was returned in 25 hours was unacceptable. I asked to speak with his manager, and of course, he wasn't in the building - his name is Chad Best by the way. Anyway, this is why I am finished as a Home Depot customer. I can only assume that the store manager, Chad Best, has trained Scott to be this rude and inflexible. If they train their employees to be this rigid on their agreements when their own customer service is some of the worst I have experienced, it is not worth it! I'll drive a few miles further to Lowe's or better yet, visit the locally owned hardware shop. read more

I bought a new Ryobi HT26 from Home Depot and used it once last summer on a few hedges. This season it would start but died as soon as I tried to up the throttle to start trimming, which is a sign of a gummed up carburetor -my bad for not draining out the 2 stroke gas over the winter. Paid Home Depot in Victor NY $63 to have the carburetor replaced, thing ran for about 3 minutes very erratically and died. Home Depot said it blew a rod (accused me of running straight gas in it -umm NO! Other tools running on the same 2 stroke fuel are just fine). Further they said that it would be $150 to repair and would be difficult to prove it was a warranty issue with Ryobi. No thanks, told them to trash it. Ryobi and Home Depot are both dead to me. read more

Do not use this Home Depot for your carpet install. After multiple visits lasting an average of one hour where each time previously recorded info had mysteriously changed, we had installers arrive and install the completely wrong carpet. When I called to inform them, they tried to upcharge me for my "more expensive" carpet choice (that they hadn't charged me for initially), let alone offering to knock money off the price for the massive massive inconvenience. The people were all very nice, but the experience has dragged on months and been a nightmare. Go elsewhere. read more

I went to the store to get hardwood floors and 2 months later nothing has been done and they continue to want more money after I paid $7 thousand dollars to them after incurring major expenses. My review is related to all Home Depots. Today, 2/2/2018, on the news there was information about one of the owners of Home Depot saying he did not want Democrats shopping at the stores. I have called the Home Depot where I usually shop and got a typically pleasant and professional response. That associate gave me a telephone number for Corporate Headquarters where the telephone was never answered. I went on line and called Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta. At this number I was informed that the speaker (his name was mumbled so I did not catch it) was no longer associated with the store. I explained at how angry and disgusted I was by such discrimination and asked that I be given some reassurance that this was not the case. I was told I would get no response from Corporate Headquarters. I am leaving no rating because I have no intention of shopping there again until this is cleared up in a responsible fashion by the store's corporate officers. I think they owe that to their customers as well as the nation. Is this what we have come to? Was told if I purchased laminate flooring for more than $1.50 sq.ft and PURCHASED more than 250 sq.ft...I could get $.89 sq.ft. installation...well my flooring was $1.88 sq. ft. and I purchased from their quote 19 boxes @ 13.26 sq. ft. a box.....thats `251.94 sq. ft. of flooring...well guess what? Horrendous customer service -- I special ordered a kitchen pantry cabinet two years ago and loved it so much wanted another just like it. I brought my paperwork from the original order and sat with Linda "the designer" to order one just like it with pull out pantry shelving well 6 weeks later I get a call it will be delivered next day -- they delivered 3 boxes when the boxes were marked clearly 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4 I call the store and hours later they located the missing box. This got delivered and I realized there were no shelves for the either top or bottom cabinets -- oh that is a separate item and wasn't ordered -- they ordered the shelves and 2 1/2 weeks later the shelves arrived because no one at home depot knows what expedite means I went to the store to pick up the shelves and there was no mounting hardware for the bottom shelves yet again was told this was a separate item and not ordered another call to corporate to help expedite and two weeks later I get a call the hardware is in. I get everything home only to realize they did not include the 16 mounting clips I called corporate customer service 3 times and 2 weeks later still no clips and no idea if they will ever get back to me -- I have spent tens of thousands of dollars at Home Depot but since this has happened I have spent over 8000.00 at Lowes and will be doing all my shopping there from now on read more
