I had a problem which I was having a hard time trying to fix because the traditional fix didn't apply specifically to me so I went to HD and picked up a commercial item which was supposed to work, it didn't. I brought the item back and I was given a full refund with no hassle at all. If I was going come up with solution to my need I was going to have to be Mac Gyver and find my own solution to the project. Since a commercial item was not made for my specific fix I was going to have to explore the stores items/odds and ends and think out side the box. After my first visit and the employee who the whole time had his face in his phone lead me to the original commercial fix, I had to slow my walk down as he typed on his phone head down while walking/leading me to the spot. As I walked around the store on my second visit I came up with a solution with something not intended for my fix which will achieve my desired fix. This isn't the first time I had to use HD for a project that was all my own to figure out and it will not be the last time. As long as HD has millions of items/odds and ends that can be used in unintended ways to complete my projects I will keep stopping over. read more

Honestly, I keep trying to give this store my business and they keep giving me the proverbial finger. The latest adventure was trying to get new carpet installed. We stopped in to the store, found a pattern we liked and as usual, were completely ignored and unable to find someone to assist. No bigs, we scheduled a measure online and it was duly completed. During the measure, we gave the tech all the product info - pattern name, color, even their store SKU. Fast forward a week - I get a message from HD telling me they have questions. When I called back the person who answered proceeded to tell me that the measure hadn't been completed (umm, yes it has per the message from the store!), that we should have come in to the store (we did, but the employees ignored us), and finally that he had our file but the product we wanted they didn't have a SKU for (despite us taking a PHOTO of it in-store). On top of being completely incompetent, dude was rude as hell - don't scold me for scheduling online, pal - if your employees had it together when we visited it wouldn't have been an issue. So they're supposed to call me back. High hopes for THAT... Anyway, I'm going to be giving the finger right back to Home Depot and heading over to Lowe's. (They did call back to tell me that my small hallway and staircase job will be...$1000. The carpet was $2/square foot...so we need 500 sf to complete one staircase and a 6' hallway? My beef is with their 3rd-party delivery service but Home Depot should shoulder equal blame. I was told I would receive delivery and installation of a microwave oven on the 8th between 3:30 and 7:30 pm. Deliverymen showed up at 6:30 and delivered item. They told me "both of our drills are broken so we cannot install. We will be back tomorrow or the next day." On the 9th I called the hotline number to see if the new time window could be narrowed. The gentleman who answered the phone told me they could not come back until the 14th. When I asked why I was told the 9th or 10th, he did not have a good answer. No doubt worst experience I just had at any Home Depot. We were there to purchase a new LG refrigerator (roughly $3,500). Plenty of staff just walking around with hardly anyone in the store. Three staff just hanging out chatting with each other. Asked twice for assistance. My wife and I waited for 15 minutes for assistance and nobody came to help. This will likely make me permanently switch to a competitor. At least Lowe's employees will ask if you need help as they pass by while we were looking bored leaning up against a refrigerator. I'm only giving one star because I can't give 0. I just went to this Home Depot for mulch and had way more of an experience than I bargained for. They had the mulch I was looking for, but all the mulch that was on the ground level was gone. There was more on the scaffolding, so an employee would have had to bring it down with a forklift. I found an employee in the garden center and asked if someone could get it down for me. She went to see if someone could help and returned to the garden center to water plants. A while later, two young men came to "help". They were having a conversation but didn't say anything to me, so I asked if they were there to help me. They said yes, but when I asked if they could get the mulch they told me to go outside and get it there. I obviously saw the mulch I wanted right in front of me, so I didn't understand why I needed to go outside. When I asked them to get it down again, they literally laughed in my face and asked if I wanted them to walk me outside. Rather than argue, I just went outside to get the mulch. I got 10 bags and none of the employees outside offered to help me lift anything. Once I got inside again, I went to the customer service desk to check out. The young lady behind the desk looked me in the eye and walked away without saying anything at all. So I went to another register and a young lady asked if I needed help. By this time, I was extremely frustrated and annoyed. The young lady that walked away without even speaking then asked if I was ready to check out. I told her I didn't want her help since she didn't feel it necessary to speak before. The supervisor ended up coming out and I explained everything to her that I experienced and she didn't do anything or say anything that made me feel like she understood my issue. I went there on Monday evening at 5:30pm. I needed some lumber cut. I picked out my boards and I knew my measurements. I asked two people to help me to cut the boards. The people working told me that the person in that department was on lunch. I asked if someone else could assist me and they told me "no, it has to be someone from that department." I asked when they would be back and I was told that they didn't really know and that it could be a 30 minute wait!! I don't understand how a whole department shuts down when someone goes to lunch. I left and went to Lowes on Burleigh and someone assisted me right away. I was in and out and everyone was really friendly. I will be shopping there from now on. read more

Eh. In terms of inventory and selection, they probably have the most items available to homeowners. Several items, varying degrees, different price points. For customer service, it's very hit-or-miss - if you get someone 'good,' it'll make the trip worthwhile, but expect to get a lot of 'walk offs' and "I'll check on that for you" (and never come back). They tend to have some good prices on light fixtures and hooks and weird little knick knacks you seem to always need around the house. All in all the bad experiences outweigh the good for this particular Home Depot. We always try to combine trips so we're not completely wasting a trip by coming here. read more

I have to commend this Home Depot. The have a customer for life. After we purchased some flooring materials that catastrophically failed by no fault of our own - the store actually refunded our money for the faulty product (around $600 worth) That alone left me with an allegiance to HD over any other home improvement store because they did not need to do that. Hell, the manufacturer of the product would not even call me back. HD took care of it for us. The staff is very friendly. Sometimes you need to tug on someone's shirt to get a little assistance but otherewise it's a great store and great staff. Don't rent tools here. The website said they had a 32 foot extension ladder that I needed. I went in, and they said they only had a 26 foot ladder. I was then checking my phone app to make sure this was the right store, and another employee told me to move out of the doorway while I was looking, even though there was nobody there. Then, I found that the store did have the 32 foot extension ladder I needed, so I went back in. At that point, the guy told me it was "buried in back" and not accessible. Not that he would try to get it. No apology for telling me before they didn't have it. Just simply and "we are not going to get it for you.". Home Depot website says they have 30+ fans in stock at this location, even had the option for "Pick Up In Store FREE Available for Pick Up: Today". Walk all over the store with a polite clerk trying to find them, then another clerk says "yeah we have them, I can actually see them up there." I ask if they can get it for me to buy and he responds "sorry". They made no effort to tell me when I'd be able to purchase it or anything. They wonder why more people are shopping online. Seriously, don't put that you have something in stock in your store if you can't take a couple minutes to go up a ladder and get one down to sell someone. read more

I made a trip to Home Depot. I wore a mask and a had a glove ready if needed. The parking lot was packed. Most customers were not wearing a mask. I had to return an item. I was pleased that the greeter and the agent behind the customer service desk were both wearing masks. I felt safe. HOWEVER, I bought a few plants from the outside garden area. The checkout girl had to get very close to me to scan my plants. She was NOT wearing a mask I was VERY uncomfortable with how close she got to me. I told her that I wish she was wearing a mask. She said," it wasn't necessary because they don't do any good." Is this Home Depot's policy? If so I will pass that on to my friends and relatives. It will be my last trip there. read more

Had a pick up order ready from the day before. Went to customer service area and order wasn't ready, the woman said she would be a minute and to wait right here, after 30 minutes she still had not returned, i got back in line and told them how long i was waiting, they asked for my name and then spent atleast 8 minutes laughing about and loudly mocking my last name "wodushek" and then i asked for a refund, she said i'll just go get the items myself and once again waited over 30 minutes with no return, had to get in line for a third time and ask for a refund again, which was finally given to me, so i spent an hour and 7 minutes waiting for my order that was supposed to be waiting for me and did not get my order, i will be making the drive out to the waukesha home depot from now on, they were very respectful and quick to help, wauwatosa home depot had worse customer service than the milwaukee court system. I've been to this home depot countless of times and have never had a good experience, i just go because it's close to home. I will no longer be stepping foot in this home depot, the people behind the counter have no care as to what they're doing/hired for and it's ridiculous that that was what i got from there "customer service" area. I had a bad experience in the cabinetry department. I stop in to get an estimate on cabinets and counter top. I appreciated a woman with blue hair setting at a desk. She looked up and asked if she could help me. I explained what I need and she stated she was unable to help and the person that could had gone for the day. I said ok, will that person be in tomorrow and with her focus on something else, she replied yep. Then I asked where could I find the counter tops so I could check the price. She never looked up at me, just raised her arm and pointed me in the direction saying it would be two aisles over. I thought to myself maybe she has a task that needs all of her focus so, I just brushed it off. I checked the counter tops and then I had a question about a sink. I tried to find someone else to help me but no one was around. So I walk back by the desk area and she was just sitting so I ask her where are the sinks. Again, she never got up to help just pointed, saying that's all we have. I asked if she could show me were a particular model/size and she just looked as me. We stared at each other until I asked again if she could help and I got no response from her. I just walked away. I left the store. As I was driving to Lowes, I called that home depot and I asked to speak with a manager. I explained my visit and he stated he would talk with the person, but he never asked for any of my information. That was bad customer service read more

I'm a Home Depot guy and this is my store. Having said that, I've found plenty or reasons over the years to be frustrated by them. I suppose it all balances out. I trust the professionals at HD more than any of the other home improvement stores. I'm convinced they know what they are talking about and are genuinely willing to help. I prefer Behr paints over all of the others that I have tried and I appreciate the ability to shop for lumber inside where it is dry in the summer and warm in the winter. I've used their installation services for attic insulation and a hot water heater.. Both went off without a hitch. I tried to use this store to purchase kitchen counters and left frustrated. We had a carpet installation quoted here and it was twice what a carpet store was. Because I've been a regular customer for years I know where everything is. Maybe that's why I keep coming back. I may not always make my purchase here, but this Home Depot is always my first option and the standard by which all other home improvement stores are measured. read more

I recently went to this Home Depot with my stepdad yesterday and in the same isle there was this worker who was old and white and I Believe her name is Carrie or claire and she had white hair. She was being a smart a** and was really rude. When a another elder worker named Howard was walking past, she was like "Howard" and pulled out her phone and started yacking at him and was being a smart a** and was saying why would you put this box here or something and he was like " they didn't say anything and then she helped out this one guy and he was satisfied. I came looking for 1 very specific thing that there website listed IN STOCK with 14 of them. i asked 3 different people, The first said to go to XX Isle and it should be on the right, sure enough found something like what we needed, but not exactly so is started walking around, found another gentlemen he had to ask someone else where, they directed me to the opposite end of the store, I see some more of the same type of thing i was looking for but not the correct one, i see a guy the next isle over and show him my phone with the product number and the "IN STOCK" code on my phone, he took me back to XX isle said "this is what we have, I said can you check this part number maybe it's else where?. He said this is what we have, don't believe the internet. So i went home empty handed. read more

Let me just say Home Depot is my favorite store. Anywhere I go the service is always great. We are currently working on renovating our home and we are very new to all of this. The guys in the paint department I've worked with (one more than one trip) have been so helpful! They explain each project and explain the colors. They have offered advice and opinions (which have all been great) for each project. I went to go look for doors and I believe her name was Marissa walked me over to the department and lucky for me was the go to person for that department. She was able to pick out and explain to me the differences between doors and the best ways to maintain them. I did not feel pressured to buy anything that second but now when I'm ready to replace my doors within the next few weeks I will be going back to HD to grab them. The guys in the tool rental dept have been so knowledgeable and explained what we needed to go with the tools we were renting. I have yet to have a bad experience there. I'm sure I will be back almost daily for the next few months. Oh and I did not grab his name but there's a younger cashier with kind of a half pony tail- he's amazing! He was joking with my youngest the whole time while checking out our order. I'm very impressed with this store. read more

Had the most frustrating experience ordering Bamboo flooring here. we ordered the flooring in the first week of February which is a quick ship item and should arrive in two weeks. They never call to tell us it was backordered at the factory so we called them and was told it would arrive in early March. No call in March so when we called they told us late April. No call. When we called them we were told it would be early May. Flooring finally arrived in mid May. We were a little short to complete the job and decided to try and order from the Waukesha store instead. Ordered what we needed on a Saturday afternoon and the flooring came into the Waukesha store the following Tuesday. They just do not seem to know how to follow up on an order to get information that answers your questions. read more
