One of the associates took the time to guide us through all the blinds options--he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful without being pushy. What really stood out compared to other stores was the number of employees available on the floor. You don't have to wander around trying to find help--there's always someone nearby, and they're happy to answer questions and make solid recommendations. The return process is also simple and stress-free. If you end up buying something that doesn't fit your project, they'll help you find the right alternative without hassle. The displays are another big plus--they make it much easier to visualize what you're buying, especially for things like blinds and storm doors. It is incredibly helpful when making a decision. This review is for my experience with Ibrahim (Ibra) and the flooring/blinds team. Highly satisfied! Came here for custom blinds (cut to measure and installed for us) and Ibra was so helpful at initial consultation and at the final materials order. This was a more cost effective option than three other vendor options we had quotes from, and after installation, I can say I'm happy with the look and feel of the materials. I will say to be patient as start to end this takes some time, but was more or less in line with the lead time quoted from other vendors as well. Here's how the process worked: 1. Initial in person consultation. I learned that working with Ibra in person (or even by phone to the local dept) provided a different experience than just submitting a form or initiating the process with Home Depot online generically. The latter routes you to subcontractors and the materials offering and pricing can be different. I had some of my own quick and dirty measurements, talked through what I was looking for and goals, and he helped make recommendations and provided an estimate based on that. 2. Happy with the estimate, we proceeded to schedule the professional measure. This was with a subcontractor, and was scheduled within a few days. Someone came out to our house and officially measured all the windows. These were provided to me and submitted to Home Depot. This cost $50 but was a credit to the final purchase. 3. Then went back and worked with Ibra to confirm materials choice and final pricing. We placed the order for the materials. Option to get the blinds delivered direct to home or to the store for pickup. 4. Once the blinds are delivered, I was reached out to again for professional install. 5. Installation completed and we are very happy with the results. Pricing for the install component was very reasonable. read more

Two different times I scheduled an installation, the first no one called to schedule a time, despite my call telling them, no one followed up, and I cancelled the order. A second installation, was told they would arrive 8a-12p, I called at 10:30a to see how much longer, was told 40 min, called again at noon and was told someone would be out between 3p&4p. DO NOT schedule installation with Home Depot. Their contractors are not reliable. read more

I went in here looking for black receptacles and covers, but there were limited options, so had to head over to Lowes. Additionally, the location for the electrical stuffs was off to the side, which led me to wander the store aimlessly until I could find someone to ask (not readily available.) Also, there were no employees over there to ask for help. When I came back to return a paintbrush I didn't end up needing, the line was so long I walked out the door and threw the brush in the trash. My time is more valuable than the $4 I would have gotten back. Just an overall disagreeable experience. Probably won't return. read more

Terrible. We have three open cases with them still unresolved. The most recent being that their employee charged us $1000 more than we should have been. We bought 25 pieces of wood and was charged for 255. It was a big purchase overall so wasn't noticed right away. Now it's "our fault" and we have to wait for their higher ups to review video before the can even start a refund process. So I guess they just think people have $1000 extra dollars laying around to compensate for their employees mistakes. I really hate that this is the only Home Depot in a close proximity. Took nine months to get four cabinets, a countertop, and a floor installed in basement . Took 3 deliveries to get the cabinets because they arrived broken each time. Had to dispose of all the broken cabinets myself. Countertop had to be done twice because the two pieces weren't made correctly and wouldn't line up. Had to redo all caulking for countertops myself because installer did such a poor job. Counter installer and floor installer damaged my drywall so I had to fix it myself. And that's just a few of the problems. DON'T hire Home Depot for your next home improvement project!! read more

My wife and I visited the South Canton, Michigan store #2744 on 8/1/2024 looking for a plumbing part. We asked a sales associate for help and rather than helping us solve our problem he proceeded to yell and shame us. He clearly was upset that a lesbian couple was asking assistance by referring to us "you people." The sales associate was not wearing a name tag and when we asked to speak to a manager, he continued to raise his voice at us. We felt so unsafe at that point we left our other purchases in the aisle and promptly left the store. read more

We purchased a Tuff Shed this summer through Home Depot. We were told by Home Depot in Tuff Shed that we would receive a 5% rebate if we used our Home Depot credit card-- see attached letter to us with the bolded and red statement about the 5% rebate. Sorry for that scribbles but I have talked to numerous people at the store at home depot credit and online and no one will is honoring that rebate! Seasonal merchandise crammed in wherever possible, but basic hardware supplies and materials out of stock or simply not sold here. Lowest quality available in materials: plywood delaminates, lumber only good for making hockey sticks. I keep asking myself: is this the home improvement store that people deserve? Politicians are actually better at improving peoples' lives. When you buy things here, you are purchasing problems. Lowe's is slightly better, but still a terrible retailer, which should give you some idea how bad this place really is. read more

5/26: rented a Honda lawnboy this morning push mower with a bag (because self propelled was unavailable); not good! This one spit more grass on the lawn than it picked up! We racked & racked the yard for hours after pushing the mower an hour or around & sweating buckets of water. Swapped the Honda out for a toro self propelled & arrived home only to find the tank was empty!!! Rather than take the mower back (it's a bit cumbersome to load/& unload in & out of our SUV) I went back to Home Depot & Requested a jug of gasoline. The customer service was ok although this falls on the heels of a "suspect" ( as my daughter would say) exchange with a manager in this department around buying a used mower. We were told it was sold but we wondered because just prior to (per another employee) it was available. Hmmm... will try again ********.*** *******.*** **********. ************ Setting up a new house is a daunting task especially when the yard looks like a nightmare and neither you nor hubby are Tool-Time-Tim & know what you're doing! So we are constantly at Home Depot these days often with notepad & pencil in hand to figure out what do it. Most recent visit was to purchase paint and wall hanging materials. What's interesting is that no matter how empty Home Depot looks you can almost always find somebody to assist. I found an amazing woman associate to help me figure out what hooks to buy for hanging our MANY pictures art work etc. she saved me from buying unnecessary equipment I thought we needed to hang some heavier pieces. The paint department was great too in helping fix the Oops peachy bisque color paint to a The more respectable "Safari Vest" for our cozy nook in rear of our house. Do not shop/order from this store. Undertrained employees and unprofessional managers. No one would respond. I ordered flooring and at the time, I made sure they understood my time constraints. They told me the whole process would take 2-4 weeks and so I placed my order. But, they put a wrong order in and bot only the guy never apologized for that, but they also never updated the right order after my initial installation schedule got delayed due to wrong order. I had to call and stop by at the store for the whole next three weeks after my initial order was placed and have not gotten a respectful response yet and have no idea when I will be receiving my new flooring. I may need to cancel my order as my time is almost up. No response, no respect for my time, energy, and money, and no compensation for my wasted time and energy. 2 years ago I special ordered 4 appliances. They showed were in a warehouse. 1 item did not arrive and I was told I could not get a refund until it did. I had to go to the store to talk to the general manager to get my refund. Now, 2 years later I finally decided to go back to HD and ordered a compressor. Same thing, supposed to arrive on day X, a week later no one can find anything on it, but the automated system says it's in the store. I called corporate and they show it has been delivered. Had the most amazing experience in the tool rental department thanks to the Tool Room Manager Ryan Dunn. On a previous visit I dad a problem with a wood chipper and he fix my problem with a level of service that was unbelievable... there's isn't enough stars to grade him. Then today I had a truck rental and he remembered me and gave me the same outstanding level of service. Living in Ypsilanti now, I worked with this Home Depot to order my new washer and dryer. I've had two major challenges: 1. HD partners with a third party delivery service out of Toledo. I've waited three weeks for my W/D. Fine, understandable with COVID. Today, however, the delivery day, I got a call at 9:11am that they'd be here in 30 mins. They did not come. They said they came and no one was one. I had my phone with me. There was no call. I have two doorbells newly installed. Neither one was rung. IF they knocked, it clearly wasn't loud enough. It's a big house. 2. I called the third party company. No response. I called Home Depot and it rang and rang and rang. I finally hung up and tried again. The next time I reached a CS rep and was sent to appliances. I sat on hold for 10 minutes, then was pushed back to a CS rep. This happened two more times over another 20 minutes before I finally got through. (FYI - this happens EVERY time I call the store!) In the end, the appliance department said they tried to deliver, but no one was home. I said, "well, it's my word against there word. No one rang a doorbell, and no one called." They said November 9 was the next option. I cancelled the order and instead ordered from Best Buy who is delivering my new appliances on Monday, 11/1. I've had countless customer services challenges with numerous Home Depot Stores. It's systemic and starts at the top. I have spent a lot of money here. I will no longer be shopping at any Home Depot. read more

We purchased $4k in appliances from The Home Depot in Ypsi on Carpenter. We worked with Christine, who was an absolute nightmare. We should have read the paperwork more closely, because I was not told that The Home Depot didn't accept exchanges or returns on appliances! When the fridge was delivered, I was not home and my roommate signed and accepted the appliances, including a fridge that was wayyy too small. I called Christine to see if I could get an exchange and she explained the policy. I asked her if there was anything we could do, because we were going to buy a more expensive fridge. She offered no other solutions. Throughout the process, it became clear to me that Christine did want to help me out as a customer. She never returned phone calls, was extremely rude and unpleasant each time that I talked to her. After deciding that I no longer could work with Christine, I got a hold of the store manager, Darrel. He was good to work with and he got our new fridge ordered and we were able to return the other fridge... with a 25% restocking fee. This simple and honest mistake in ordering a too small fridge cost me over $400. NEVER BUY APPLIANCES FROM THE HOME DEPOT!! Go directly to the manufacturer. They are cheaper, easier to work with, and have an acceptable return/exchange policy. This whole situation is very unfortunate because I have always been a loyal customer of The Home Depot. I will never step foot in the Carpenter Rd. Home Depot again. Mostly because of the piss poor experience I had with the appliances, but also because of Christine. read more

Marceo at the lumber department helped me cut my wood. He is very professional and courteous. Marceo handled all the work himself and did it beautifully, he confirmed with me several times before making the cut because there were some pre marked lines on the lumber (not from me), I appreciate it very much because if not for his confirmation the cut might have gone wrong. If I could give this store a negative review. I absolutely would. We ordered a LARGE amount of wood, over $2000 worth. Our order delivery got rescheduled 3 times! We actually cancelled so we didn't get a 4th time. They kept calling THE WRONG TELEPHONE NUMBER, we don't even know how that happened, and they didn't even try to resolve the problem. Just kept pushing our order out further and further. Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. Terrible. So incredibly frustrated with this store. My husband and I spent hours in this store today sorting out ideas for a project. We chose the wood we wanted and were told to place a will call order at customer service because of the amount of cutting. No problem! We walked up to customer service where Jennifer checked us out. She was very nice and made it seem simple. We paid for the wood and were told that they would call us when it completed. We told her no rush as we aren't on that part of our project yet. After leaving the store (still in the parking lot), Jennifer called and let us know that they may not be able to cut the wood as we wanted it because of safety procedures (we wanted it cut into 8" planks, she thought they could only cut to 12" min.) I said no worries, find out and let me know. She called back to let me know they could in fact cut it the way we wanted but also wanted to let me know that she hadn't charged us for the cuts and was supposed to. She then told me that she wasn't going to charge me this time but next time we needed wood cut they would have to charge us. Great, now I know! My phone rang again shortly after I hung up. Jennifer told me that she would in fact need to charge me for the cuts and needed a card number over the phone. I refused to give her a card number and told her she would have to meet me in the middle with the cut cost because we were told there was no charge! She said she would and we could take care of it tomorrow when we pick the wood up. My phone rang again, now Jennifer telling me that she would need to charge us the entire amount. Enough! This seemingly simple transaction has become a huge headache. This evening, I received yet another phone call from a different associate stating that I had a balance due on an order. She said that the manager had instructed her to collect payment prior to them cutting the wood. I immediately asked for a manager. April answered the call. After a ten minute call she let me know that we would need to pay the new charges when we came to pick up the wood. April, you cannot change the price of something that is already paid for in full after the customer leaves the store. You cannot hold the paid for merchandise ransom for the new charges to be paid. I did not agree to those charges! I'm really hoping that you honor the receipt I have that says paid in full.... We'll see what happens when I pick this up tomorrow...Stay tuned! read more

Shockingly bad experience with a refrigerator purchase. Understandable wait given pandemic situation, but this Home Depot chooses to partner with a last mile delivery company out of Toledo that has an F for the BBB rating. Delivery that was scheduled for 9/11 never showed with no answers as to why and no proactive communication from the company. We waited until 7pm at their direction until we finally were told to give up on it by HD salesperson. Then 9/18 delivery happened on schedule but the guys did massive damage to my mother's front entryway, including breaking a lamp and messing up a door; (which wasn't even how they should have come in, they eventually came in through the back after getting stuck and having to back out) and now my mother is dealing with two different insurance companies asking all kinds of insulting questions, like the age of her house. Instead of HD just making this right, she is having to invest additional time. I've called HD and been told that they are "just following their process" and when I requested a call from the GM of the store I was told I have to call HD's customer care number. Home Depot has had $2000 for this refrigerator since May and they are taking zero responsibility for making this situation right. All they've done is forwarded an email with the details we've provided and left it to her to try to recoup losses she's experiencing as a result of the poor choice in partners that HD has made for delivering their merchandise. They didn't even deliver a $17 water hose that they were supposed to have installed, left the refrigerator box for us to deal with and left all the packaging on the refrigerator. I would have expected better from this national brand, but you can be sure we won't be back to shop at any HD ever again. read more

Don't buy your appliances here!!! Easily the worst retail experience I've ever had in my life. I bought 6 appliances during the 4th of July sale and was told they would be delivered approximately 3 weeks later (which was fine). I donated my old appliances a few days before to make room for the new ones, but was contacted 3 days prior to delivery stating that they would be delayed another week. The manager REFUSED to speak with us when we went to the store to resolve this and instead sent an assistant who didn't follow through with anything she said she would. Calling customer service was just as bad; they proceeded to blame the manufacturer and didn't offer to help resolve the situation or reimburse me for the food and time off work. During installation my microwave was damaged and the techs refused to install the washer because "the hose isn't long enough" (which it is). After further contact with customer service, they arranged a new microwave to be installed, but when it was delivered, we were told they would not install it or uninstall the damaged microwave. We attempted to resolve the issue with customer service but the techs weren't contacted until after we uninstalled the damaged microwave (and damaged our brand new stove in the process). They installed the microwave but Home Depot has yet to follow up with us. Save yourself some hassle. Go to another retailer!!! read more

I had a wonderful experience today at our Home Depot on Carpenter Road. I first called to inquire about whether there were any approximately 34" square mirrors for sale in the store. A nice lady in kitchens went to look and then informed me that there were two available. I immediately drove to the store, found the nice lady and she showed me the mirror - which I decided to buy. Then, I had an even better experience at Home Depot!!!! I was struggling to get the mirror to the front of the store. Another nice store employee came along and carried the mirror to the front of the store, helped me ring it up and then she took it to my car and placed it into the trunk. Her name is JANE. Bought a dishwasher and installation. Once it was installed, I noticed a large dent on the front. Home Depot required me to have a whole new dishwasher brought out a week later, but then they refused to install it because the site was "not ready" (a piece of quarter-round was sticking out a bit, and this crew wouldn't work around it, although the first one had.) Guess who installed the floor like that? Yeah, Home Depot. Also: they bent the bottom cover of the dishwasher while looking at the quarter round. Would not do anything about it. I had an extremely poor customer service experience from the manager of this Hope Depot in Fall 2015. So much so that ​they ended up not only refunding for my floor installation​ but giving me that money in cash to go somewhere else and have new floors installed. Awful customer service they made us wait 40 minutes to get help to have a key made. The employees literally walked by without assisting us even though they'd been paged to make the key. One employee began to help us but then pawned off the task on another employee who began helping someone else. We left and got them made at Lowe's instead. read more

For the second time in a month, I've called this store to talk to someone in their Doors and Windows department. I want to know if I buy a basement window from them, do they have employees or contractors who I could hire to install it for me. Each time I've called, the Customer Service person transferred my call to the Doors and Windows department and then I've sat on hold way too long. This time it was over 15 minutes and a new Customer Service person checked in with me after ten minutes and had to transfer the call back to the department again. Ultimately my call was disconnected on their end. (That also happened the last time I called them on this matter.) What does it take to get someone to pick up the phone at Home Depot and give me an answer to this relatively simple question? I shouldn't have to drive to the store in person just to get this information! read more

Please note, I'm reviewing this particular store, unlike the unhelpful general reviews of the chain that people have left here (Yelp, don't you pull those?!) I have gone out of my way to shop here for quite a few years. The staff here are very knowledgeable, unlike what I see at Lowes or Menards. The department staff at this store are real professionals and they have never steered me wrong. I've received helpful and useful recommendations on electrical work, plumbing, painting, tool selection, and wood over the years. My home is a more comfortable and secure place due to their excellent advice. I recommend this store without reservation. Home Depot continues the tradition of great big box hardware stores at this location that goes back quite a few years. I'm guessing that when the previous outfit's corporate owner went bankrupt, HD was able to hire the old staff and they have just kept hiring the same sort of folks. It's a 15-mile drive these days for me, but it's well worth it! read more

This store is the absolute worst. I went looking for a specific tool for my husband's birthday. Was told at customer service that the computer showed they had one in stock so I asked where I could find it, based on the location provided in her computer she did not know. She then asked around and told me that another man was going to look for me and proceeded to help other people. The man "helping me" looked at me, set the phone in his hand down and walked away. I never saw him again. So I waited to speak to the original person and waited while she helped other people and intermittently tried to find someone who actually knows the layout of the store. Then she told me that an associate from hardware would meet me in aisle 8, so off I went. After waiting alone for some time in aisle 8 and nobody ever showing up, I went back to customer service to find the original woman gone, so I walked up to the person working the station she had left who told me, "the line starts over there", I look and see about 12 people waiting in line, so I'm like no, I already waited in line twice and was just sent on a wild goose chase by the lady who was here so...and she just shrugged, gave me the hand and said she didn't know what I was talking about. At that point I asked to speak to the manager of the store who refused to come talk to me and given that plus how this store is run, should probably be FIRED or at least renamed as the shitshow manager so you know what you are walking into. I left and drove to the Canton store where the staff was amazing and could not have been more helpful! I spent LESS time driving to Canton, purchasing the item and driving back to Ann Arbor than I did just trying to find someone to actually help me at this location, so if you have to go to Home Depot, I strongly recommend the trip to Canton where they actually gaf. read more
