The saga of worthlessness continued. After my first review the same plumber came out again contracted by home warranty. He didn't hydro jet like he said he would be just snakes our sewer release, again. When he put the cap back on I asked him to wait while I went inside and flushed the toilets and ran the shower. He said sure, 5 minutes later when I came out he was gone. Here I am 5 days later and we're having the same problem again. I've left a dozen messages and zero response. Technicians who couldn't solve a simple faucet repair. The first guy showed up to diagnose the problem and lost the small set screw cover on the faucet handle down the garbage disposal. Never told me and the disposal chewed it up later. The second guy came by with the correct part but couldn't get the old part out. He gave up and said I needed a new faucet. He also mistakenly turned off the feed to the dishwasher and failed to turn it back on. We didn't catch that until we ran a full dishwasher cycle and found out the unit ran with no water! This may have consequences down the road! The third guy came out with a small spring which had nothing to do with the repair(?!!!)I guess he didn't get the memo! By that time I just wanted my faucet installed. He Promised to return the next day. He left and never came back. There were two more appointments to replace the faucet. Both times they didn't show up. No communication at all as to the missed appointments. Unprofessional service to say the least. These guys were assigned to me by my Home Warranty service. They refunded my money on this service, and apologized for the inconvenience, but I question how well they vet their contractors. I will avoid Honest Plumbers for any plumbing service. read more

This is an outstanding company. The company truly holds up to its name. We have used this company twice. The first time they came out we had a water leak up in the attic area. Our technician was Nate. He is so friendly, knowledgeable, works quickly, and answered my questions. Then today our sink was leaking and it was the garbage disposal that went bad. I was referred to Honest Plumbing thru my warranty company on 6/11 plumber was out 6/15 needed to order parts. Went back & heater not fixed, need to replace unit. My warranty company issued order for replacement, it's now 7/1 & still no order from Honest Company to go back & replace the heater! I've called & left messages to get status & no response. Today my warranty company says Mgr Jennifer is handling the situation, I'm still waiting for a call to get status! Honestly should it take 3 weeks to get a water heater replaced?! Awful experience with this contractor through the home service warranty. They are extremely hard to get ahold of and give conflicting information. The plumber gave inaccurate measurements for the holes he made, so the drywall repair is held up, and the plumber won't respond. Receptionist is a cell phone with a full voicemail. What a joke. I requested plumbing service via the Yelp app which sends a repair request to five businesses, and The Honest Plumber was the most responsive of the bunch. The owner, Mike (He replies as Christopher on Yelp, but I'll let him tell you the story), took the time messaging via Yelp to answer several questions I had with regard to his service prior to hiring him for this job. He was transparent about pricing and what to expect and was able to come to my home to do the job personally on a Sunday. While on the job, Mike continued to answer questions I had about the repair and other plumbing problems I had been experiencing. He provided valuable information to consider for other projects and even helped me diagnose a separate issue with specific tips and tricks to make the those other repairs, should I choose to make them on my own. The initial concern this weekend was the drywall and baseboard under the toilet's shutoff valve were saturated with water, but the source of a leak wasn't visible. The shutoff valve itself was not leaking, but I turned it off anyway as a precaution, and there was thankfully no water damage on the opposite exterior wall. Since the source of the leak was not obvious to me, I needed a professional. When Mike arrived, he promptly determined the cause of the problem and began to make the necessary repairs. He cut into the drywall on the opposite wall, diagnosed the leak location, and replaced that portion of the pex pipe leading into the shutoff valve. He also replaced a 16-year-old shutoff valve with a brand new quarter-turn one. Before completing the repair, Mike realized he didn't have something he needed and quickly ran to the local home improvement store. He returned with what he needed, and he also brought some wooden stir sticks to use as backing for replacing the drywall, since we had discussed that I was probably going to fix that portion myself (my choice, as he does work with a gentleman who can make that repair if you are not inclined or able to DIY). I'm writing this review a few hours after the repair, and the wall is dry. Overall, I recommend The Honest Plumber. The pricing is fair, and I definitely know I could have paid more calling some other place. Mike is awesome, efficient, informational, and... honest. It's not just in the name. read more

We had a leaking faucet valve in our shower, and we put in an order through home warranty. Home warranty sent out this company, "The Honest Plumber." We get scheduled for a tech to show up, guy comes out is here for less than 5 minutes, tells us that they need to cut into the wall and replace the valve. We schedule for the next appointment, I take a day off from work, and no one shows. We called to verify that a tech was coming and we got no answer. Called again the next day and we were told that we were not scheduled for the day prior. We get scheduled for another day, a different tech shows up, and tell us that the first tech had the wrong diagnosis and that the leak was coming from a gasket in the shower head. I tell the tech that the leak is coming from the valve and he ignored what I had to say and responds with, "oh, I didn't check that but the leaking stopped." He then said he adjusted a gasket and the leak stopped. Not too long after the tech leaves, the leak returns. At this point, I am frustrated and I call the home warranty company, file a complaint and ask to close out the job and reassign. I also asked home warranty to place this company on a non preferred list. In our experience, they wasted our time, there was a lack of urgency, a disinterest in doing a good job, and no care of listening to the needs customer. I would not recommend this company. read more

One Star - Absolutely unacceptable experience I rarely leave reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about The Honest Plumber here in Bakersfield. I scheduled service through my home warranty company, and The Honest Plumber was dispatched to handle a leaking kitchen sink. Their technician came out, didn't fix the problem, and actually made things worse, leaving my sink still leaking and my home in complete disarray. What followed was a runaround of blame-shifting. Instead of taking responsibility for their technician's failure, they blamed the home warranty company, said the photos they took were blurry (that's their fault, not mine), and asked me to send pictures and model numbers they should've documented during the visit. I even told them I'd pay out of pocket to get it resolved, just get someone out here to do the job properly. But instead of fixing the issue, the service manager, Mike, flat-out told me they would no longer service my home. This company was sent to resolve a problem and instead left me worse off, leaking sink, no resolution, and an attitude that screams "not our problem." That's not honesty. That's negligence. I've documented everything and forwarded it to the warranty company, but let this be a warning: If you're looking for accountability, professionalism, or quality work, look somewhere else. read more

They notified me of an appointment, the following day I received a message that they were on the way and would arrive in about 45 minutes. We had the unfortunate experience of coming back from vacation to a broken and leaking water heater. At the ripe old age of 20-something, I knew this was coming. And from what I have heard, these things always seem to happen when away. In prepation for this moment, I upgraded my AHS home warranty to Platinum. (Pro-tip: scan online for discount codes, there are plenty!). At about midnight on Sunday I put my service order request in and was assigned The Honest Plumber. Not wanting to wait to be called, we rang them the next morning and scheduled an initial consultation. They were able to fit us in that Monday afternoon. After a quick check, they let us know the next steps and that because of the age we were probably looking at some out of pocket expenses. Mostly due to re-piping and permits. I did my due diligence and checked this info out, and they were correct. After they put the request in with the home warranty, waited on approval and ordered the parts, we were scheduled for the installation on the next available, which was Tuesday of the following week. ' It's important to note that if you have a home warranty, expect to wait more time than normal. Yes, it's annoying to not have hot water for a week but this isn't normally the contractors doing. The contractor arrived a bit earlier than anticipated, but because it was Spring Break my partner was home to accomodate. The only gripe was that while working on the area, they didn't bring a vacuum or any kind of cleaning supplies. My partner had to ask to wait for them to install the heater for him to vacuum out the space before they installed the new one. Otherwise they would have put the new device right on top of rusty, dusty, chipped up plaster. If given the opportunity, we would have preferred they removed and hauled away the old heater first so we can clean and replaster before they installed. They also left an enormous rust stain on our driveway. Luckily this came out with a little pressure washing. But still a little disappointing. We ended up paying a little over $600 for the permits and piping, plus the $100 service call. read more

I've waited to give this company a second chance after a first bad experience back in 2020. They got that opportunity last month, and things haven't really changed much. In 2020 they came out to repair some outgoing-to-sewer lines. Showed up and started clearing the line in the wrong direction. Owner showed up and corrected the two kids who did it wrong. NBD. At least it was corrected, but we got a high quote and had a bad feeling so went with someone else. Jump to our garbage disposal going out last month. Home warranty sent the honest plumber - it took them two weeks to get out here. OK maybe they're busy. Guy finally shows up on a Wednesday after we called multiple times, says maybe two words to me, and says a new disposal will be in on Friday but they probably won't be able to install until monday. Monday comes around and no one has called me. I had to call them to leave a message and don't get a call back. It's now two and a half weeks with no ability to use the kitchen sink. They finally answered after my wife called back a fifth time, and the woman was kind and apologetic to her credit and said they'd have someone coming out later in the week. Nice guy shows up and installs the cheapest garbage disposal possible. Efficient and quick installation, but here we are just about one month later and the disposal they installed has broken yet again. We called home warranty and asked them to go with a different plumber this time around. TL;DR: gave them an honest shot twice and somehow got let down three times. read more
