I was reaching dead ends trying to fix my soapstone kitchen counter - - not your usual material for countertops. I had accumulated small nicks and dents over the years and really hoped there was a way to fix them, whether by filling the spots or doing something else. Ron researched soapstone repair and kept going when local counter top shops said that nothing could be done. He eventually tracked down answers by finding suppliers in Colorado and New Jersey. And then, when he showed up, he asked me to watch him do the sanding and showed me how to take care of minor problems in the future. I am very satisfied with the result. Ronald was excellent. Had a real issue with Cabinets coming away from wall (crappy installation by Beazer but that's a different story). He came out on the same day I got ahold of him and stabilized the problem cabinet. Had to remove the wing cabinets that had ripped out of wall as well. I must say, me and my partner were pretty disappointed. Ron came in and fixed a patch on my drywall and even gave estimates on other small items needing to be done. We were so happy to finally find an honest and friendly handyman in the area but when we called him to schedule the next repair he never responded. He came over beforehand to scope out the list of things we'd been putting off getting done. The list was long--about twenty items and Ron recommended us get him for the day. Well we started off on a good note. They came out to quote on the job. We went back and forth over email on the details. First issue, when the revised quote came back, it was $200.00 higher because he forgot to add in something. I asked about doing an additional smaller project that involved replacing a flange on the toilet. He quoted over $200.00 when the average is $150.00. I asked if he could work with me on the pricing as it seemed a bit high and he said he would. Again, a revised quote came back and it was $100.00 HIGHER than originally quoted. I don't understand, but they need to do a better job estimating upfront instead of changing it every time an email goes back and forth. read more

If I could give 10 stars, I would!! I called Ron at 4pm on a Friday because my window was leaking. Within 30 minutes - he was at my place repairing my window to stop water from coming in. I had a bathroom door that would not close after I retiled the floor. Ron took it off the hinges, shaved the bottom, and it now works great! Today Ron came back to install wooden slats under the mattress on an antique bed. The footboard had been leaning against a wall for almost nine years and it is now attached to the bed and looks very nice! Ron also fixed a cup handle on my trash bin door. I called Ronald for help fixing a storm door that had its hinges bent due to a high wind. Another handyman had estimated it would take 2 hours and cost a decent amount of money. Ronald, however, thought it could be done easier. When he got to my house, I showed him the door and he knew exactly what to do, fixed the door in about a half hour, then asked if I had any other projects he could get done because he charges by the hour. He then fixed my screen door in the time remaining and walked around the house looking at small projects and giving me tips on what to do. I'll happily call Ronald for the next project. Ron is a good guy. I contacted at least eight handymen for my odd job and Ron was one of the two who responded and was willing to take on the out of the ordinary request. My condo has an attached parking garage and it just so happened two pigeons made the ledge above my parking space their home. Their droppings were constantly on the space and on the car. I looked up some bird deterrents and decided on the BirdSlide. I provided the installation instructions and Ron read through it and was willing to perform the work for me. He expressed enthusiasm and offered ideas to make the solution a success. I ordered the materials and he charged me for his labor. Unfortunately, the day we scheduled was frigid cold (below freezing) but Ron still showed up to clean and prepare the ledge. He was determined to get the job done! Ron is very easy to work with and was extremely conscientious about making sure I was happy. I had small jobs, but about 12 of them, and I even added two things to my list on the first day he showed up. He built a small gate on my deck so that my cat can't jump over to the neighbor's and he designed it with very little input from me, but it's exactly what I wanted. He didn't charge me what I thought he would, so I paid him extra; but I didn't get any other estimates because I felt so comfortable with him, so I can't say for sure that he would beat out other handymen's estimates, but I feel pretty sure he would. He also did all the research and shopping on new smoke detectors, so I literally just made a list and paid - he did all the work. On April 20th I had a terrible experience with this person. I selected HoneyDude from high Yelp ratings and am sorry. After two phone conversations to discuss paint and carpentry work, he visited to give the free estimate. We agreed an an hourly wage for a kitchen flatware drawer repair job that would take about two hours. Meanwhile, I had found another painter beforehand (thank God--I cannot imagine what the paint job would have looked like). This happened on my day off so I could get lots done since I was putting my house on the market--his job was key to finishing up. First off, he arrived 90 minutes behind the appointed 10:00am time, and then still had to run out for some material barely an hour later. He took over my driveway with 2-3 workbenches; while he was doing that I had errands to run and left. About 30 minutes into my errands he called because there was no power (GFI tripped). I raced home to set him up with a cord from my garage. I went back on errands. When I came back about 2pm he was complaining about having trouble with the particle board on the drawer. He decided to create a make-shift support system. In the picture, his box is on the left. Since the glue would have to set, he offered to repair a crack I had in my aggregate stone walkway. I thought he knew what he was doing when we talked about a process he'd said we both saw on YouTube--he knew the language and everything. Since he was already present and (I thought) he knew what to do, I agreed and left to finish a few more errands. When I returned: OMG. He had spilled concrete OUT of the crack he was supposed to trowel; his fix looked worse than the problem. I told him it looked awful, and he suggested a fix; I told him to clean it up. The concrete was set. OMG. (I am skipping a LOT), Sooooo, he struggled with the kitchen cabinet tracks and added more wood for supports (?). Around 6pm I asked when he would get done and he continued to verbalize his frustration; meanwhile, not only is my cabinet dismantled but he has no clue as to how to make it work. I just told him I have to have my house back--he said he wanted to try one more thing. About 7:00 he apologized and said forget his fee (duh); I offered to pay him for the hour he put into destroying my walkway just to get him out of my house. As he was packing to leave, my painter arrived for an estimate and asked what happened to my drawer. Seeing my frustration, he offered to fix it, which is the box on the right. On the next day, the painter REBUILT and finished the kitchen drawer in two hours! HoneyDude may be doing this as a hobby, because my experience is that he was figuring it out as he went--he sounded knowledgeable but buyer beware. I cannot recommend this person to anyone! Right now I'm hoping my painter can work with mortar and can fix the mess HoneyDude created. read more

I used Ron's services for the first time last summer. He performed various work for me such as power washing siding and a stone walkway, rotten wood replacement, exterior painting and roofing repairs. He is very good at what he does. Ron is a one man show. You only deal with him and he is very friendly, gregarious, his prices are reasonable and he's very detail oriented. He is everything I would want in a handyman. Ron is honest and he follows through on everything. As an example, he was doing some work up in my attic and accidentally damaged a very small area of the ceiling. He made good on repairing and painting the drywall. I trust him completely as I gave him access to my house when I was away. I would use him again in a heart beat.
