The teacher/artist started the class going step by step, she was very nice and accommodating. She provided more paint and paper as needed. The only thing is that we were against the wall in a very tight space. Luckily it wasn't that busy otherwise if anyone wanted to leave their seat it would force everyone else to also leave their seats so one could get out. The artist had no space to come by and check on us and to give some advice/feedback like she was doing for the people sitting in the middle row. All in all we had fun and I would for sure go back.

I called ahead & asked about booking 1 slot/item for 2 people, and was told that's okay. When we got there they clarified that only certain items can be built by 2 people (fish, turtle, flower), but they allowed us to also built the vase together. That means if you do this as a date night/group activity, the other person will sit on the side while you build your item. I believe they host couple specific nights (or you can choose one of the few items that is partner friendly). - this is a QUICK guided activity. There wasn't any pre-education on glass blowing, techniques, advice, etc. You are allowed to pick up to 3 colors and then you basically follow the teachers instructions for each step with heavy assistance from the teacher on each step. This isn't a class for someone who's wanting to learn glass blowing basics, be creative, or do most of the process themselves. It's VERY guided and directed. Granted, it takes people decades to learn large scale glass blowing, so I understand why it's designed that way. But if you're looking for more creative freedom/independence, I'd recommend checking out Glass Bubble in Miami. - In addition to the above point, you're not really sure how to make the piece "good". For example, our vase had a ton of bubbles and I'm not sure there's anything we could've done differently to prevent that (and we weren't warned about it). Overall though, this is a cool art activity and you get exposure to some of the tools of glass blowing while getting to go home [the next day] with a cool item!

They had ample availability and you would be taught by a skilled artist. The studio is located at Young Park, in a expansive open studio, w bleachers allowing you to observe the work taking place by the master glass blowers. Each session is 20 mins long and priced depending on the piece you would like to sculpt. I heard someone say they bought a Groupon, so maybe that's an option for another session. The class goes by pretty quickly, but the artists usually give you detailed instructions on the entire process, guiding and cheering you on. Mitchell made the experience easy-going and was supportive of my rough pulling of the glass lol he saved my piece and made it into a wild delicate flower. The final product gets to cool for 12hrs and the next day you get to pick up your masterpiece. Enjoy the process.

Activate is basically a big arcade where you use your body to play the games. There's some more active games than others, but you'll definitely get a workout in here. The check in process is pretty quick, just make sure you fill out the waiver and make your account prior to showing up. Once you arrive, they'll check you in and give each person a player wristband as well as a wristband for a locker for your stuff. You'll link the wristband to your account and then you're good to go back and play. When you go in the back, it's basically a big dimly lit room with lots of game rooms. You walk around and it has the name of the game room. Each room has multiple different game modes you can play in it. Each member of your group scans their watch and then you choose which game mode you want to play and then enter. If someone is in there already it'll have them finish their game and then kick them out and it'll be your turn. They also have instructions on how to play each game on the screen. Once you enter the room, they don't really give you any instructions on how to play the game, so it sometimes took us a few tries before we got the game down. If it's busy and people are waiting for the game, it'll only let you play 1 round before it'll make you exit so the other people waiting can play so definitely try to go during the week or during slower times so you have the possibility of staying in the same room longer and playing games continuously. If no one is waiting it'll let you play on forever basically. It is pretty dark in the game rooms/walk around area so if you have bad eyesight just a heads up on that. Also if you're sensitive to bright lights there are some rooms with super bright lights. All in all I had a great time here, my friends and I did 1 hour and it was perfect, but if you're going during a busier time I recommend doing the 90 minute session.

I found it extremely interesting to have seen the pictures ...of so many children that came to this school from the 1920s until the 80s! And they even had some of the original desks against the wall by the windows ...inside of the classroom, whereas the main ones in the middle were all donations. So basically I paid $3 admission with their food stamps discount to view all 3 of their tiny rooms; $1 per room hahaha! There's not much to see here, so I'm just warning you guys. They also ONLY allow field trip kids to tour the school in the mornings and then they close ...very early by 3 which made me have to make a second trip here on another day. The parking lot was completely empty with the exception of an elderly couple that pulled up ...as one of the employees escorted me to view the school building. They got to write or draw on a paper with the pen and ink. They went 2 other rooms That they shared some history about the farmers and stores. After that they got water from a well. And then finally they washed clothes by hand. Overall it was pretty interesting.
