This hotel is now THE HOTEL PENDLETON. The hotel's signage is not very noticeable, especially to people new to the area. Upper lot parking is a tight fit; there's ample parking below ground, but it's not very well lit. The front desk staff was friendly. Rooms are clean and have a microwave, large TV, and fridge. The room is quiet and beds are comfortable; the bathroom is small but clean and well laid out. Fan did not seem to work. AC/Fan was pretty quiet and kept the room comfortable. There is only 1 outlet on the nightstand, and one USB port; not nearly enough for a CPAP machine, chargers for phone and e-reader, or other electronics -- there is a lamp on the desk with two outlets, and one or two more on the floor, but not convenient for electronics. Touchless check-in and check-out (except you need to get the key from the front desk). Exterior rooms only, no elevator. read more

I am a frequent traveler and had a stay there over the weekend to meet some friends for dinner. Typically, I'll burn some hotel points for a stay but since everyone was staying there, we decided to do the same. At a glance I have to say I was had a bit of dread??? in my mind but I was so pleasantly surprised when checking in. First off, yes, it is an older style motel, but the first thing I noticed is no "old motel smell". The staff was amazing and did a great job whenever we were down in the lobby area. There is a no-frills bar and pool table available, and as before the staff was great. The rooms were recently remodeled and again, no old smell. The mattresses were firm, the bathrooms clean. My only complaint is the pillows were really flat and could have used a couple of extra ones on the bed. But other than that, I cannot say enough nice things about the motel. Probably the best bang for the buck I have gotten at a hotel/motel in quite a while. Plus, you are right in the downtown area and easy walking distance to the restaurants and bars. Lady at the check in desk Friday night was very friendly and helpful! Saw two other men there as well and while I didn't interact with them as much they were nice too. This is a motel, not a hotel. Shady to name it hotel to scam out of towners into thinking this is a hotel. Just expect MOTEL level quality and you'll be fine. Horrible pillows, the thinnest toilet paper I've ever seen (even cheaper than gas station paper!!), and no blow dryer in the room. We stayed in Room 111 on 10/4/2024 - $140.88/night. Super cute courtyard property and totally refurbished. Great closets and storage. Soaker tub! Roku! Bathroom fan timer. Microwave, fridge, coffee and a bottle of water. Literal metal ice bucket. Excellent WiFi. We didn't want to leave. There were USB ports and outlets in the nightstands. Unfortunately, the nightstand nearest the door only worked if the light was on. The tub drained well and water was hot, but the shower pressure could have been stronger. We could have used a couple more pillows, and a tub mat for the super slick tub. The property has a bar and restaurant as well. Grade A. read more

What a surprise! This is now the Pendleton Hotel and the remodel is magnificent. The plumbing fixtures are good looking and all fixtures are new. The toilet is actually adult height. No squatty potty here. The beds are very comfortable. There is a 52" flat screen RCA TV. Lighting is unique and wonderful. Flooring is new and fortunately carpets are a thing of the past. The window is huge. The lobby and dining area are modern. We didn't try it but there is a standard hotel breakfast with the possibility of ordering something different. Last but not last we were able to park right in front of our door. We have stopped over in Pendleton many times and from now on we won't stay anywhere else. The Wyndham name is on a lot of dumps but this is not one of them. read more

Great little place, well lots of rooms, but super friendly staff make it seem like a small intimate place. Recently remodeled ( or at least seems that way, everything was clean and appeared freshly painted). Had a little trouble with TV. The highest volume was barely audible. As I left for the evening I let front desk know. They said cable guy would be by to check about 7:00pm. I was out on the town, and about 5:45 I received a voicemail from front desk advising me the volume had been fixed. LO and behold, when I returned to the room later I could hear the TV. We found this place on Yelp as we traveled from Salt Lake City to Tacoma. Based on the reviews, I made a reservation. It was exactly as everyone said! Clean, large room, updated. Very very nice with great people running it. We did not eat breakfast there as we had to get on the road. I think we were the only guests there which was surprising. My boyfriend and I stayed here for the Pendleton Roundup and we were so thrilled to have found it last minute! There are new owners of this hotel who are very excited to get things turned around and make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Everyone we talked to was incredibly nice and went out of their way to answer any questions we had or get us anything we needed. Reading past reviews, I wouldn't have believed this was the same hotel! They've put in THAT much effort and work on it!! The rooms are clean and comfortable, and there was minimal noise from our room. We will absolutely be coming back next year and can't wait to see how they made it even better! We have gone to the Pendleton Round Up every year for as long as I can remember. We had to change hotels due to a series of events. A large group of us ended up at the Marigold and we couldn't be happier. I was immediately greeted by the owner, and then the desk clerk was super nice during check in. Our room is modest, but has new mattresses, linen, bed spreads, TV, and is very clean. Ownership has been extremely responsive to any requests we have made. We look forward to returning. read more

10-17-2021 To the Owner of Marigold Hotel, It was the WORST hotel experience of our lives. We rented 3 rooms. Constant people coming and going throughout ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT, intense amount of people loitering around the hotel (many not even residing there), frequent disruptions outside of our door or window at ALL HOURS by strangers. Not to mention the lack of basic needed amenities like a trash can or hand soap.The price was great but it WAS NOT WORTH IT. All of my family got 2-4 hours sleep. The sleep we were finally able to get came around 5:30 am-9 am. Those were the most quiet and least disruptive hours. Even the next morning two strange men coming from the other side of street came and started to try to talk to my daughter and I as we took our puppy outside where he could pee. We did not converse but went back to room. The men literally walked up the stairs after us and loitered outside our window until I pounded on window for them to leave. Extremely dangerous and sketchy hotel. I thanked my God above that my family and I got out safe and unharmed. I hope this will give you an idea of what it is like for a family to stay here. It's a homeless shelter. The owner gets money from the state to house homeless at this motel. Not even sure where to begin on how bad this experience was. Neighbors doing drugs all night with people coming and going. The staff checking us in were on what seemed pretty clear to be meth. There was even a cop in the lobby telling me and another person in line to try to get a room somewhere else. He also advised us not to park in the garage if we stayed. He said it wasn't safe and break ins/ smash and grabs- were customary and frequent. It was during the recent heatwave and there were literally no other rooms in a 500 mile radius online. Otherwise I would have taken the officer's advice. It was the kind of room you don't take your shoes off in. And they also, and this is mind-blowing, didn't have keys for the rooms. You had to lock yourself in and not leave the room. No keys. read more

This. Place. Is. Adorable!!!! After a less than satisfactory experience at the last hotel on my road trip with my 6 year old, I took a chance on another Ebates offer. The reviews from multiple sites were glowing and the pictures were promising. Upon arrival, I was INSTANTLY smitten. Located on what seems to be the main road of the town, the hotel is SUPER cute, well maintained, bright, cheery and just a nice little change from a big chain. The guy helping us was friendly and the hotel lobby had a wide variety of pamphlets of things to do, places to eat, attractions, etc. I had reserved a room with king sized bed, through Ebates, and had zero issues with check-in. The room was INCREDIBLY clean and you could tell they'd made a few recent updates and modifications. The orange and teal colors with some unique decor made this place look so charming and a fun place to stay. I was more than pleased after our previous, terrible experience at the other hotel. They had a small but decent continental breakfast and check out was a breeze. I wish we could have stayed more than one night and if I'm ever back that way, we'll definitely stay again!!! read more

As long as you have no standards for customer service and no regard for personal safety, this is the hotel for you. I'm not sure how it achieved the rating is has but I would offer up a zero rating, if possible. First off, the lobby is always locked allowing you to pick up and actually use a vintage 1980s land line phone. When the customer service representative answers after the 7th or 8th ring (to maximize your experience with the antique phone, I'm sure) they "kindly" ask you to wait as they descend from wherever they happen to be. They are almost awake and mostly dressed by the time they reach you. The usual pleasantries are ignored in an effort to maximize efficiency and the check-in computer system works most of the time. During check-in you can expect an engaging conversation about how the usual workers haven't shown up, how the housekeeper is the one checking you in, how the position of your room should allow you to sleep through the yelling from the street, and whether your neighbors will or will not be around to bother you. As for our experience, when we walked towards our room, another guest or employee (not completely sure which) was kind enough to inform us that they've had a few automobile break-ins recently and that they would be walking around in an attempt at security. We finally arrived at our room which was pleasantly cool and mostly clean (surprisingly so, based on the rest of the experience). We were completely exhausted after the third leg of our cross-country drive and ready for some sleep. The opportunity to have all of our worldly possessions donated to those of ill repute weighed heavily on our minds and after checking on the car 3 times, we decided to just leave and find a hotel 30 minutes further down the road. We made no attempt at a refund and were just happy to get out. I won't lose as much sleep over the $70 as I would have staying up to check on our car all night. Please do not stay here. read more

Instead of staying at a soul-less chain hotel on the interstate, try staying at a classic American motel. The Marigold used to be a Howard Johnson's, and it retains that retro charm. It really reminded me of the Marco Polo Motel on Aurora Ave. in Seattle; the interior layout is almost identical. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. You can park your car right outside the door of your room. The free breakfast was just right. The greatest thing about this hotel is that it's located in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of everything: the Underground Tour (highly recommend); Pioneer Park (great for a picnic); a Circle K convenience store (for snacks and beverages); and many eateries (we ate dinner at Prodigal Son). Perfect headquarters for exploring Pendleton. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! This was by far the WORST experience I've ever had with a hotel/motel from start to very short finish. When I arrived for check-in, I waited in the lobby for ten minutes without a single soul in sight. Finally, a very exasperated woman walked out and asked what I needed. It took her several minutes to figure out how to check me in, and she finally had to go retrieve someone else to help her. Both of the women working behind the counter were acting strangely and seemed very out of it, as if they were on drugs. After finally getting checked in, the room I walked into was absolutely horrifying. The actual hotel/motel and rooms look nothing like the photos advertised. It was clear that the room hadn't been fully cleaned. There was a pile of dirty sheets on the floor in the corner, the toilet bowl was dirty, there was debris all over the carpet (it had clearly not been vacuumed), and only two crumpled bath towels. Not to mention everything in the room was dilapidated and dirty. There were stains all over the lampshades and walls. I felt like I was in the middle of a crime scene. I was so uncomfortable that I went out and sat in my car while I tried to figure out what to do. While I was in my car, a fight broke out between some of the other guests right in front of me, while the other very drugged out guests circled around the facility. I decided that I just did not feel safe or comfortable staying the night. I went to the lobby and turned my keys in after only 20 minutes of being checked in. The woman behind the counter was still being very fidgety and wide-eyed. She said she would issue me a refund and then proceeded to have me stand there for 25 additional minutes while she tried to figure out how to process the refund. After several failed attempts on her part, she finally told me that her boss, who she said was the owner, would not approve the refund. This establishment is an utter disgrace and should probably be condemned honestly. I wouldn't recommend staying here to my worst enemy. read more

BEWARE!!! All good reviews MUST be paid for by family/friends of this place. There is NO WAY this place got as good of reviews as it did! We booked this hotel solely off the reviews on our road trip back home and as soon as we got there we both looked at each other like there's no way this place is a 4+ hotel, and that was just while we were standing in the lobby. When we got inside the room we were astonished with how disgusting it was. The carpeting had clearly not been vacuumed, there were spider webs along the top of the ceiling and stains on the bed, STAINS! I didn't even want to sit on the bed. We set our luggage down, looked around the room and almost immediately decided we'd rather ask for a refund and drive the extra 4 hours to get home than to stay in this disgusting room. I would not have been surprised had we stayed that we would have gotten bed bugs. It was that bad. This place was not cute or "adorable" as some would say and definitely not updated. I would be very weary of this place and the people that run this hotel. As I said we were there less than 10 min before going back to the lobby and asking for a refund. The front desk guy told us that the owners do not allow refunds although we had literally just walked in and set our stuff down, hadn't even sat on the bed or anything. We decided we'd rather eat the ridiculous $80 than to stay in this disgusting room and headed home. **please read the reviews from other low ratings and then the astonishing responses from the owners or staff. Its sad that they can't take the criticism and feel the need to be snotty and rude back to their customers. This is my favorite hotel I've stayed in, in the United States. It is charming, quaint, and has real character. The owner Surya Das is the sweetest man determined to make sure you are happy and comfortable, with everything you need. He has painted the walls like a hostel in India, which is magical if you've ever been, they are bright and fun colors. He even gives out EcoBotanics shampoo, soap, lotion, and conditioner. Car problems meant I was stuck in Pendleton for the night. I quick review of the Internet and the Merigold was the cheapest hotel. Do not stay here. It took 30 minutes to find somebody to let me into my room. I suspect it's 1/2 motel, 1/2 halfway house. The room above me were clearly on meth and partied all night. Throughout the night somebody would use their electronic key card in my door to see if it would open, the beep beep beep of the doorlock would wake me up. At 2 AM somebody knocked on my door and I asked what they wanted. They wanted somebody to buy them beer. Even the staff bitterly complained about how cheap the owner is. My advice, pay the extra $20 to stay anywhere else but the Marigold. read more

It was clean, the beds and appliances were new, it's located in the downtown area (in quaint, sleepy Pendleton, OR) and the staff were great: I happened to run into the owners on the way out and all I can say is they're the nicest people I met on my trip. The staff were great and everything was clean. The problem that I had was that everything was so small. The bathroom was approximately five feet square. The main room had a huge desk in it making it difficult to get to the bathroom. The walkway outside was extremely narrow making it hard to carry a suitcase to your room. read more
