The Cuban with Fried Pork Chop and fries! The Pork Chop so tender and juicy!! Yum!

This place is delish!! Wow just passing through Auburn and stopped to eat! I saw the antlers in the door and said to myself, "This is it"! Hensley our bartender was phenomenal and great service! It's great when I travel around and nice people are part of your day! The bar is beau tile and the cattle skulls made in Bali! The food was delish. I got the Cuban Fried Porkchop hoagie!! I loved the local recipes and very crisp. Fries OMG the flavor! If you ever come through Auburn this is a stop!! Salute!!

If you're looking for a place that feels like a high-end hunting lodge married a modern restaurant and raised a family of delicious food and strong drinks, The Hound is your spot. I started off with the Moon Over Madagascar, and let me tell you--if this drink had a fan club, I'd be president. The black tea and vanilla combo sounded like a weird dare at first, but it ended up being shockingly amazing. Whoever came up with that mix deserves a bonus and maybe a parade. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits, because these were not just "good." These were "call your mama and tell her you've tasted greatness" good. The chef is from South Carolina, and you can taste every bit of Lowcountry pride in that bowl. Perfectly cooked grits? Check. Pile of blackened shrimp? Double check. A sauce that made me rethink my entire life? Oh yeah. If they sold that sauce by the gallon, I'd be bankrupt but extremely happy. Erica, our waitress, was an absolute rockstar. Super helpful, incredibly informative, and somehow managed to keep the perfect balance of friendly and professional--even on the Sunday after the Iron Bowl, when half of Auburn is stress-eating. The place was spotless too, which is impressive considering the emotional damage that game causes every year. Bottom line: The Hound is a must-visit. Come hungry, order boldly, and thank me later.

The food was very good. The service was amazing. We had an excellent waitress. The restaurant is nicely laid out and clean. I would not consider this "fine dining" at all. It's more of a southern fusion type place.

We have visited the Hound several times, each time very memorable. The steaks are delicious, and the service is excellent. The ambiance is a little dark, but ok.

Very good food and cool atmosphere. Their specialties are bourbon and bacon so I recommend the bacon flight and a bourbon drink on their cocktail menu. My wife wanted the pepper jelly app, which was a good balance of spicy with the jalapeño and sweet of the jelly. I really want the bacon flight next time so will likely not get this again but it was good. Then I had the Big Nasty which is a fried hot chicken sandwich with fried egg and aioli. Excellent sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit. Definitely recommend

This was the cutest spot ever. I visited on a Sunday after 1 pm and there was as 15-20 minute wait. While I waited, I visited the bar to have an orange-pineapple mimosa which was delicious. The wait wasn't long at all so they exceeded my expectation. The environment was not loud or crowded. It was just right! Cindy was the waitress and she was such a pleasure. She provided information on what "Bacon and Bourbon" meant, recommendations on popular meals and suggested nearby sports bars to watch a little NFL since I was in the mood for that. However, there are televisions there at the bar. I order med the Farmer's Omelette without potatoes with a side of cheese grits and bacon which was made in-house. The omelette was HUGE!!! I had tons of leftovers. I look forward to visiting this establishment again in the near future as it was a quick trip from Columbus, GA. Check it out for yourselves...you won't be disappointed.

So I'm very particular about a mushroom and Swiss burger. I have my favorite place back home in White Bear Lake, MN and any other mushroom and Swiss burger usually lets me down. So, with some trepidation, I ordered the mushroom and Swiss bison burger at The Hound. I was not disappointed. I ordered "some pink" and they got the cook on it perfect. It was delicious as were the fries. I ordered a local pils and it was a great pairing. Sat at the bar and service was attentive. Ambiance was on point. Upscale southern bar is how I would describe it. Place is a bit hard to find. Set back off the street address so be sure not to miss it. Will most definitely be back.

This was a great meal. It's been about 10 years since I've been, so I was glad to see that this place is still alive and well. I ordered the Berkshire porkchop. It was a massive cut of porkchop served over bacon fried rice. The porkchop had an Asian style marinade with sesame seeds on it. The marinade and cut of porkchop was primetime on point. However, it came out pretty much well done. Still a fantastic cut of marinated meat, but the medium finish would have made it more juicy and flavorful. The bacon fried rice with pepper jelly-sweet chile sauce was an excellent combination of savory and sweet. It had a smidge too much soy sauce (saltiness) to me, but otherwise, I really enjoyed it. Great draft beer selection as well.

Complaints include a chipped plate and glass along with a very loud environment. We were seated away from the bar area but it was quite loud to the point it was difficult to hear across the table. The DJ could bring it down a little but the hard wood ceiling and floor bounces sound extremely well. Outside dining may be a good option for a more quiet night. It's a small menu and they were out of two apps on Saturday night:( All that said, the food is very good. I especially liked the burrata and the tuna. The beet salad could use a few more beets but the lamb and chicken were reported as good. Substantial wine list with many Italian options. Well made cocktails, shout out for the old fashioned. Plan on spending $100pp to do it right.

If you're planning a meal, I highly recommend requesting an outdoor table, which makes for a much more enjoyable experience. The noise level inside can be pretty high, although where you sit definitely makes a difference. The bar scene looks fantastic and would be a great place to stop in for cocktails and enjoy the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the dining experience itself was disappointing. Service was slow and inattentive throughout the evening. We had already finished our meals before our waiter finally stopped by to ask how everything was with our "first bites," which was a bit ironic. The food was just okay. The menu leans Italian, but some of the dishes missed the mark. The vodka sauce lacked the authentic flavor you'd expect, and the pappardelle had an unexpectedly heavy lemon flavor that overpowered the dish. To top it off, we were charged for a second drink that we never ordered. Overall, Olivine shines when it comes to atmosphere and views, and I could definitely see returning for drinks at the bar. However, the service and food quality need some refinement before I'd come back for dinner.

I was originally going to say that nostalgia should take you back to your youth without having to deal with the youth that are now frequenting this college watering hole. But I decided when it comes to 17-16, I can't find anything else wrong with it besides having to deal with college students. But you know what, when you have a great "college bar", you really shouldn't expect anything different. Therefore I will let nostalgia from the bar I loved in college negate any of those negative thoughts. Although, I'm sure our group stuck out like the old alums that still hit the bars when they are in town. What makes this bar a great college bar? First of all, the bar runs on both sides and there are always plenty of bartenders. Making it very easy to get a drink. Not to mention college town prices are AMAZING. Also because of this wrap around bar concept, it keeps people flowing in a "lap walking" form. So even though it gets crowded, it doesn't feel that claustrophobic. There is also an outside area in the back. So if you want to get out of the crowded bar, this is usually pretty wide open. Would I frequent 17-16 if it were in my hometown? Probably not. But when I do my once in a blue moon visits and know what I'm getting in to, I can't think of another late night bar in the loveliest village on the plains.

I believe it effected some of the flavors of foods that were boiled in it, too. Gnocchi had some of the same off flavor. In addition, some of the flavors just feel way out of whack for totally unrelated reasons. Sauce that the duck came in was thin and overwhelmed by honey. The risotto it was served with seems like it should be rich and homey. But despite a crazy amount of added dairy still tasted thin and flat. Can't tell you why. Wonky seasoning? None of the dishes reflected any familiarity with acid to lighten or balance a dish. Fried green tomatoes were pretty mid despite a quality remoulade and a bunch of pimento cheese. Ingredients seem like they're decent quality. Desserts are legitimately top notch. Everyone recommends the peanut butter pie. And it is excellent, though pretty obviously not long out of the freezer.
