Used to really like this place, seems like prices have gone up and food gone down. The last trip there was three of us, we got a burger, club sandwich, pork chops and an appetizer. All were mediocre, and certainly not worth the $103 bill. I could have gotten a better club sandwich for half the price at Chappy's. Being in a college town and going to a dinner restaurant is a slightly odd experience. When the most popular local meal is a pizza slice left on the coffee table after a prior night's party, it's natural to some skepticism regarding the town's place in a world of finer dining. Hamilton's is generally not the kind of place where college students go. As a matter of fact, it would not an unreasonable bet to say that the majority of them will not step into Hamilton's a single time during their entire education journey. Some lucky students might be able to score Hamilton's when parents are in town and footing the bill. Otherwise, it's just professors and graduates. The pork tenderloin at Hamilton's is incredibly delicate and if it isn't already, it fully deserves to be the signature dish. Juicy, flavorful and peppered just enough. Salmon salad is solid as well. The food complements appropriately to the old school design and wooding paneling of the place, with a menu focused on traditional American kitchen. The staff are mostly college students. Some decent wines are present on the list as well, so if parents are paying, go for the Cakebread bottle. This is good, quality, all American food. read more

Sunday dinner. 1st time here for the 3 of us. Our server was very friendly. Nice drink menu. I had the cucumber salad to start-wow unusual. Think cucumber spirals with feta cheese! It was delicious! The staff down at the hotel recommended Hamilton's and I'm so glad I was able to stop by. On a Monday night, it was very packed, so I suggest you make a reservation. Since it was so packed, there were no available tables available and the wait was going to be super long, but I was lucky enough to find seat at the bar. I was immediately greeted by the bartender who was very slammed. I felt bad for her because it was so busy, but she handled everything like a pro! I decided to order a side salad and the fresh catch of the day, which was Cod and it came with shrimp and wild rice. Everything was very delicious. The side salad was such a nice helping that I pretty much got full off of just that. I was able to try the Cod and shrimp. It was good too. The fish was definitely fresh, but seasoned very well and the jumbo shrimp was buttery and tender. I also noticed that Hamilton's also had live music, which was an added bonus. All in all, great visit to Hamilton's. Definitely recommend! read more

Stopped in on our way from the hotel to the airport while our passengers were at the Auburn football game. Sat at the bar. Both bartenders were friendly and welcoming (as is the case with pretty much everyone I've met in Auburn). I had a club sandwich with fries and tea. My copilot had the sesame seared tuna. Both of us enjoyed the meal. The couple sitting next to me had pork tenderloin and they said it was delicious. I hope to visit this establishment again soon. We went last night (Sunday, 12/21/25), and were seated immediately by a friendly host. We sat behind the bar near the window. Our server gave us waters promptly and asked if we were ready to order as we just sat down. We requested a couple more minutes to look over the menu, and she left. We waited and waited, and pretty soon, 45 minutes went by with no one coming back to our table. I notified the bar tender we were heading out. My wife and I have been wanting to try Hamilton's for a very long time and made the trip from Birmingham to have such a bad experience. read more

I am only giving this review based on the system to get a table at Hamiltons. I was concerned when i looked to book a reservation for Saturday night while in town and realized they don't take reservations-that was a red flag. But the group wanted to show up Sat night and see if we could get a table. When we arrived around 7 you could barely get inside due to all of the people standing around in the small bar area. We were told that you have to stay inside because they only call your name out loud!! We asked can you not text us - there is no room here to stand and wait. No we don't do that. After standing near the back of the bar area and having to constantly move because of staff trying to go and come from the bar -we realized the young girls running the table list were calling out names so softly you couldn't hear them. When we questioned them about how are we supposed to hear our names being called they had no response. We did finally get a table after about 45 minutes. But then you are surrounded by the people waiting on a table- not a relaxing enjoyable meal at all. What i do not understand in this day and age of technology is a restaurant owner treating its customers this way !! Are they watching by remote cameras and enjoying the show ?!! Why not incorporate a texting policy or give out restaurant beepers ? First and last time for us. The waitress even apologized to us. She had come over from the other Hamilton location. She said how difficult it is for the servers to navigate the waiting crowd to serve the customers. read more

Visiting the area from California for our nephews graduation from Fort Benning. We decided to take a little drive into the Auburn area and stumbled upon Hamilton's. Let me just say that Hot Roast Beef Sandwich was amazing. Tender roast beef, perfectly soft bread, it was super delicious. My sister-in-law had the chicken tenders that were also very good, along with the cucumber salad. Oh and the sweet tea, yum! Our server was very attentive, and he had that southern hospitality and charm. We will most definitely be back, when we return to the area. read more

I had lunch here on a beautiful summer day while visiting Auburn. I sat on the patio. My server was Drew. He was great. Very attentive. The restaurant had a lobster bisque on the menu so I absolutely had to try it. I would rank it as a 3 among others that I tried. I could taste tomato and maybe pimento. Not bad. I ordered the crab cake as an appetizer as well. I enjoyed it. Primary crab meat and not a lot of breading which represents a true crab cake. For my entree, I order the blackened chicken fettuccine alfredo. The chicken was well seasoned. The sauce had an herb flavor which was different. The sauce didn't taste like it was made from scratch but it was still enjoyable. I had an overall great experience. I would return again. While I dined outside, I did check out the inside of the restaurant. It gave me date night vibes and the area is great for a night walk after dinner. read more

We decided to go to Hamilton's on Magnolia while touring the Auburn campus. The restaurant is a typical high end steakhouse/restaurant that would be perfect for that after golf outing, business meeting or date night. Crowded, busy and loud....and serving plenty of cocktails at the bar. We ordered Crab Cakes and Spinach and Artichoke Dip for appetizers. Both shined and were gobbled up quick. What a great start!!! I also ordered the Lobster Bisque because I love Lobster Bisque....and I certainly was glad that I did. WOW!!!! For entrees, We ordered the Filet and Shrimp and Grits. Seriously Amazing!!!! The Filet was so good, and the Shrimp and Grits were wiped out in short order. Paired excellent food with excellent service and our dining experience couldn't have been better! It was fine. Decor and vibe we chill and comfortable. Really loved the atmosphere. Food was over rated. Fried green tomatoes over breaded and sauces were not good at all. Grilled shrimp was simple and delicious. Lobster bisque was really good. Salads were really good but dressings tasted bottled. Roast beef sandwich was just ok. Not good flavor development, au jus was odd. The fries were just bad. Dumped out a a freezer bag and served unseasoned bad. Low lighting and conversations all around allows for a private yet social dining experience. My favorite dish in Auburn - the chicken provençal - is on their dinner menu, and the desert options allowed for a shot at some beautiful crème brûlée.
