A friend and I visited Hub recently on a Saturday morning. The location is good, space inside well laid out and initial appearance of food and drink options is good. Unfortunately, the good things about Hub end with initial impressions (other than staff being pleasant). The problems with Hub - service is incredibly slow and inattentive (not even busy when we where there), no healthy food options offered and items that could be healthy are prepared in a manner so not to be, coffee drinks can only be made with whole milk and the overall feel is pretentious. Places like Hub exist all over the country and can be great local places when run properly. In our view, Hub is not worth the effort until changes are made. Good concept, but fail on execution. The service is great, the food is spectacular, and their mission is incredibly refreshing in this day and age. Entirely locally sourced AND insanely yummy breakfast food??? Sign me up for life. I have showed this place to eight people and counting, and every single one has been convinced of its charm after just one visit. This place needs way more attention, and way more credit for the impeccable job that every single one of their employees does. The biscuits are baked fresh in house every day, and it shows in the taste; fluffy and buttery and dream worthy. Give the avocado toast a shot, too; paired with a glass of their grapefruit juice, you've got a picturesque meal for one. Loved our brunch visit to Hub Cafe. Our group ordered Huevos rancheros, the pumpkin French toast, and fried egg sandwich. All were delicious, everyone loved their meal! Very clean and inviting atmosphere and the service was great. Be prepared for a longer dining experience, not somewhere that gets you in and out quickly for brunch. I didn't mind though, it allowed more time to drink pear bellini's :). read more

I love the egg sandwich and I always get it with avacadoes for breakfast or lunch. The housemade biscuit and balsamic onions take the sandwich over the top into being a really unique and delicious sandwich. I also like the vanilla latte (good suggestion by one of the employees). The prices are higher but it makes perfect sense to me, since the food is farm-to-table. When I've been there, there's usually enough free parking, either right outside the cafe or across the street (Q Street) in the little parking lot. Friendly staff. The missing star is just for slow wiping down of tables (might be leading to a very minor house-fly issue). read more

Absolutely the best brunch spot in Lincoln. Their excellent coffee, innovative menu, and clean and comfortable atmosphere make Hub the ideal place to go with friends/family or on a work brunch. The quality of the food is tremendous and is nearly all farm to table. It makes the dishes truly pop. The Huevos Rancheros and french toast never disappoint. I also love the location on the Antelope Creek Project. It's close to the university and downtown but on a scenic vista. This is a must try for lincolnites and travelers alike. read more

I very much enjoyed my visit here last night! I was wondering around and came up this very local and what seems to be sustainable cafe. Enjoyed the cocktails, the ricotta cakes and visiting with the owner! She gave me great insight on farm/CSA availability. I just moved her from Portland so food, where it comes from and how it's grown/treated is a number one priority for me! Reasonable prices, kind service and excellent food/drinks! Truly as good as it gets. Had brunch there recently the flavors were outstanding; and the portions were normal sized! I had the Huevos Rancheros, I loved the dual sauces and the black beans. My Hubby had the Breakfast Bowl and my oldest had the Grilled Cheese sandwich; and while she was disappointed there were no sides with her sandwich she did mention how much she loved her grilled cheese. My only complaint, which is just because I am greedy over great coffee, is that there is only one free refill on the coffee. read more

Farm to table the way it's supposed to be. Owned and operated by local farmers. The Hub Cafe is out of control good, my wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed everything we've gotten here. This restaurant is big city good, like chicago or san fransisco good. We are truly spoiled to have quality dinning like this here in lincoln. Have you ever experienced food so good your eyes close and the room goes quite, well at the Hub your other senses will step to the side to let taste have its moment. Brunch is out of sight and dinner is as good if not better. Get the smoked trout latkes or lasagne, and on the way out buy some darn cookies because you'll be hard pressed to find better. read more

The concept is great, however I don't think the ambience fits. It is very industrial and LOUD in the dining area. That is the main reason I am giving 3 stars. The coffee is excellent and my dish was very good. The service was disjointed. Three people in my party and all of our food came out 3-5 minutes apart. I was done eating before the last person was served. The French toast has too much going on. A confusion of flavors. The food was wonderful. However, after the second time we ate there, we won't go back. First of all, the place is insanely loud. Too many hard surfaces and no sound baffling= extremely unpleasant atmosphere. After we were seated, no one came near our table with water or anything. After 10 minutes I had to go up to the host and ask if someone could wait on us. I'm sure plenty of people don't mind the loud atmosphere or the poor service and will continue to bring their business. To me it's a real loss because the food is excellent. read more

I really like the farm to table concept and the ingredients are clearly very fresh and delicious. The service, while friendly, was slow. The restaurant is also really loud, so I'm glad we could sit outside. Unfortunately, I disliked the dish I ordered. It was a breakfast bowl of sorts and the flavors were all kinds of weird together. Too much pickled vegetables, unusual flavor and texture from the combination of runny duck egg and quinoa mixture, and could've used some type of salsa. My husband liked his pita, so that was good. I think this place could really shine with a couple of more basic menu items as well. When your ingredients are so good, a simple eggs and toast really lets the flavors shine, rather than having too much going on that overwhelms a palate. This may also help with making it a little more kid friendly too. Overall, I plan to come by again, and I'm hoping I'll like the dish I order this time a bit more. read more

There is parking and the venue itself is charming, but it's more hippie than hipster, and the menu is limited and needs refining. We went on a weekend seeking lunch and were offered a brunch menu. I had the breakfast bowl, but it was bland and the egg which was suppose to be poached was fried. If the rehaul their menu and focus on amazing flavors it will be a good place to eat. Instead of reinventing the brunch wheel they should focus on really good farm fresh versions of classics like eggs Benedict. The waiter was nice but not really on top of her tables, and the place was not crowded at all. Unless they make changes I will not be going back. read more
