    Chick'n Schnitzel Bowl with Falafel
    Jacob C.

Excellent fast-casual lunch spot. The food was really tasty - including pillowy-soft pit bread and crispy falafel. The staff were super friendly and our food was ready in a flash. My sense is most people take-out but the shop, which is small but very clean and charming, has a few tables for dining in, as well. The menu has a nice range of options without being overwhelming and with the flexibility of getting orders as a bowl, a pita wrap, or a salad.

My order: Schnitzel bowl The Review: I am dreaming about going back to The Hummus Shop. We had them cater our event. I got the schnitzel bowl, which came loaded with schug, toum, hummus, and so much more. Everything was incredibly well done and flavorful. The schnitzel was great and I believe it's made of beans. Most of their menu is gluten-free and they took extra care with keeping GF items separate from the rest (and labeled the bowls that were GF!). We also had the spicy pickles, which were incredibly spicy (delicious). 5/5 from me. Thank you so much, Hummus Shop! (Pictured: sabich bowl)

Really great bowls that are fresh and packed with lots of different ingredients. We got the schnitzel pita and the sabich bowl (which comes with a pita on the side too). Both were great and the pita even on its own was delicious.

They sell some sauces and hummus to go.

What a great little shop for a pita sandwich, a bowl, or just some falafel . REALLY FRESH ingredients, including the most delicious pita bread I've ever tried. The vegan (yes, I said vegan) chicken schnitzel is so delicious, you'd never know it's not chicken. Just a little delight in Beacon Hill. I wish they had a bigger shop! I understand though, rents are high here. I will be coming here often for their delicious creations!

Hummus bowl 10/10. Dang. Quirky entrance, but great service. Best falafel I've ever had in Boston.

We decided to try this place out anyways, and I have mixed feelings. The food here is very good and presented well, especially when dining in. I ordered the Moroccan beef kebab plate and it was very tasty and portions were large, which made the price worth it in my opinion. The cleanliness and overall state of this restaurant is a bit concerning though, and I honestly wouldn't recommend to others. There were practically no clean tables for us to sit at, half-finished plates of food scattered around the entire place, improper food handling (not swapping gloves after touching various surfaces), and even witnessed one of the employees drinking a leftover smoothie drink directly from the blender (!!!!!). Normally these are things I wouldn't notice when dining at the restaurant, but given the layout of this place it was hard to miss. Eat here with caution!

He had a $100 Resy credit, which ended up covering our entire meal with a little left over. For the quality of the food and the overall experience, it felt surprisingly affordable and very satisfying. The ambiance is open, stylish, and inviting, with both booth and table seating. We were seated at a corner table, which made the dinner feel relaxed and comfortable. The menu is mostly tapas-style, so it is a great spot if you want to order several dishes and share. One downside is that the entrées were pretty meat-heavy. The kebabs, for example, were limited to beef, lamb, chicken, and swordfish. I would have loved to see a vegetable or tofu kebab on the menu. That said, I was still able to put together a really satisfying meal from the appetizers, mezze, and salads. We started with a dip assortment that came with Lebanese-style flatbread, or manakish. The dips included a spicy yogurt-based dip, beet hummus, and another grainier orange-colored hummus. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and really enjoyable. The standout dish for me was the crispy eggplant. It came as thin, tempura-style slices of eggplant with a pomegranate yogurt sauce and a honey glaze. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but it was absolutely delicious--honestly, I could have made a meal out of that dish alone. We also ordered the fattoush salad, which had the classic vegetables but felt especially fresh because of the watermelon cubes, cherry tomatoes, sumac vinaigrette, and capers. My boyfriend also tried the oysters, which were a special that day. Overall, Ilona was a great dinner spot: cute atmosphere, central Boston location, shareable plates, and tasty Mediterranean food. I do wish there were more vegetarian-friendly entrée options, but I still had a very satisfying meal and would happily come back.
