The potatoes were half cooked, some pieces were still super crunchy. The shawarma meat was super dry and under seasoned, tasted like they were a couple of days old. Spent $32 of what was sub-par not delicious Mediterranean fast food. We could have gone to chipotle or poke bowl places next door and have gotten more satisfying predictable fare. read more

There are premade bowls here and you can customize your order. The flavor in my Greek power bowl was filled with green bell peppers, sauce, lettuce, chicken shawarma and onions. I enjoyed the flavor but the sauce was a little overpowering for my taste buds. You can double down on the chicken or beef if you need more. Standard bottled drinks. Hunger. Hunger led us in through Acetuna's doors. Our bellies were hungry for food but our minds were also hungry to satisfy our nostalgic memories of the original Acetuna located in Cambridge. As I stumbled in to the eatery, stroller at hand and husband and second child in tow, I was greeted by the grumpy cashier who seemed to be multitasking on her headset while staring me down. Could she hear the rumbles coming from my belly? "You have to order down there," she scolded. No, she definitely could not hear the rumbles, I thought. I quizzically looked at the man standing next to a chicken doner. "Chicken shawarma?", he asked. Yes, but with rice and a side of falafel, I replied. To my surprise he didn't shave the doner, but instead used his tongs to place dry pieces of pre shaved chicken doner on my rice pilaf. Toppings are an extra $0.50 the lady cashier growled at me as I eyed the picked radishes. I ordered the radishes anyway since hunger was my new purpose, and my little ones were on the brink of tantrums. The cost for my dish rang a whopping $19 after taxes, a price I would not have paid if my past hungry self could see future meals. The tale could go on but alas my cell phone battery is at its lowest point. A few questions I will never know the answer to: 1.) Why are customers served dry precut doner when the real thing is right there, exposed and waiting to be shaved and eaten? 2.) Why are the service workers so grumpy? 3.) This is a solid lunch spot for vegetarians and vegans with a salad base among the options with the 6 falafel balls for protein. Among the sides I selected was the lentil rice dish which was delish. It is large, there's seating but since the food comes in a to go container & it was a lovely day, we took out to the public space with table and chairs on the waterfront. The area has some lovely public pocket parks to enjoy. I wished there was an alternative to the plastic container. We did clean out and place in a recycling bin but not sure if #5 is collected. Today, my travels took me to Boston. I was out and about lookin for some wicked food, lol. I found Aceituna Grill. Upon entering, it resembles a Mediterranean Chipotle the way their set up is. I eat here almost daily... for what is basically a fast food place it's remarkably good. But the spicy chicken and lamb are excellent.

Not amazing but I did like my food. I ordered the build your own plate with tabbouleh salad as the base, beef and lamb shawarma as my protein, and falafel and French fries as my sides with garlic sauce on the side. I think it would have been better if the meat was separated from the tabbouleh so it wouldn't get soggy. Also, maybe having the ability to pick half and half base would be good, as the tabbouleh is good but can get overpowering after a few bites. The meat was okay, I didn't taste much flavor to it though. I did get this delivered so unfortunately the fries were soggy by the time it came. The garlic sauce was more like mayonnaise and lacked the garlic taste, I was expecting a strong presence of garlic. SOOO freaking good. The chicken flavor, while not very spicy to be honest, was so good that I didn't really need any additional sauce. I did try the spicy sauce which was meh, but the tahini was really good added in tot he mix. Paired it with the hummus side and a greek salad. I really wanted this place to be very good cause I love Mediterranean food but it was just okay. First of all the order process was nerve wracking and intimating. There arent any label and you don't enough time to read the sign with the ordering process. Inside the restaurant was also really dark which made it hard to see anything. There are like 7 different sauces/ spreads and no way of knowing what they are. The staff wasn't interested in explaining since it's lunch rush. I thought the prices were good until I saw the portions and it made sense. I ordered a Shawarma Pita Roll with Beef/Lamb. I got hummus, onions, lettuce, tabbouleh and spicy sauce. The pita is thin so by the time I got back to office it was already soggy. The tabbouleh was sooo sour it made everything taste off. And the lamb/ beef was just really chewy sliced flank steak not even meat off the spit. I also wished they had feta cheese as a filling option. Love this place for lunch! I always get the spicy chicken plate with either rice or tabouli. My favorite sides are the potatoes, tabouli, baba ganoush. Nothing is really spicy in my opinion but it's all good flavor. The spicy sauce is more garlicky then spicy but still so good. Ordered beef/lamb shawarma for a work lunch. Delivery was fast, but everything tasted just sad. Perhaps an off day given the other stellar reviews- but I noticed that most of the 4-5 star reviews were either for the chicken or for non-delivery. The first thing we (as a collective work group who ordered an array of food) was that while the portions were large, the beef/lamb was so, so sour. I'm pretty accustomed to eating shawarma plates and to this day have never had such a sour, tart flavor to the protein. The meat was also so dry and otherwise flavorless. It tasted like just-frozen and microwaved meat. Sorely disappointing. The rice beneath it was also so hard. It tasted like days-old rice that was kept in the fridge and briskly reheated with the rest of the food. The fries were soggy and also tasted like pre-packages/store-bought frozen fries. So watery and tasteless. I was hoping at least the fries would be decent even if soggy but again disappointed. Other folks who ordered the chicken plate didn't complain about the taste but agreed that the rice was just so sad. Won't be ordering for delivery again and likely would choose one of the many other better places that serve up better food. Tasty, healthy meal but overpriced. Additionally, the menu has a price error on it that management refuses to fix or honor. Tzatziki sauce is listed as an 'add on' option for $0.50 in a sticker that overlaps both the rice and salad plate options (see photo) and a separate, identical sticker is also placed on the menu location for the pita roll-up option. However, when you ask to add tzatziki sauce, they will add it to your plate and charge you $2.00 if you do a salad or rice plate. I pointed the error out to cashier and shift manager, and they pretended not to see the sticker on the menu. Literally acted like it wasn't there. They clearly have no intention of removing the sticker. Edit: manager came out and explained this was a training issue and that the staff did not understand fully yet that there are 3 options: no tzatziki; a small add-on portion for $0.50; and a large scoop for $2.00 as a side. I was apparently not the first person to bring this up. Given this, I'm knocking this review up to three stars. However, I still overpayed for an option I didn't ask for (tzatziki as a side), and nothing was done to rectify that aside from providing an explanation that it is a training and newness issue. read more

Five star take out lunch. The spicy chicken shawarma is moist, tender and sliced in radical abundance. Throw that protein bucket atop fresh, crisp tabouleh and consider your breath both ruined and saved. The baba ganoush... excuse me while I compose myself. It's silky and smoky and everything you want in an eggplant spread. It's simply incredible, and to skip it as one of two sides in the plate is to commit a crime against culinary humanity. Which brings me to the mandate. You may be tempted to get a wrap, or a salad. Don't. The plate lets you use tabouleh as a base instead of a side, which you should do because it's amazing and you won't be able to decide between this and the aforementioned baba ganoush. And you'll have the potential for yet one more side - I went falafel and found it a bit dry. Let me know what you discover. At $10 for more than enough food, I still could not resist the pillowy baklava purse staring at me with a thousand crushed pistachio eyes. Good thing - it's exquisite. I know - I KNOW - my next lunch will be flawless and the fifth star earned, but the falafel and the clunky ordering process (request for a receipt went ignored, asked again and had to wait four more orders until they could print a replicate, thus tripling my time in line) keep it at a very powerful four now. I have been a loyal Aceituna Seaport customer since they opened. Service was always kind and prompt, and the food was of good value and well seasoned. All of this has gone away. Service is now regularly rude and mumbled. The heater coils are now either too hot or the product is no longer being sold fast enough, because it is now dry and in some cases rimmed with burned bits. Finally, and I always order the exact same thing, I was charged $2.00 more for my order than normal on my last visit. When I asked for a receipt, it said "extra chicken". I asked the cashier about it and he said I had asked for extra moussaka and "it is expensive". I had not asked for that, I simply asked that there be enough fattoush salad base for my meal, as the server barely put enough to start with. Maybe I have been conditioned to expect a certain level of salad on my plate, but if so, it is because it is what I have always received here... That was my LAST visit. There are plenty of this kind of place to eat in Boston. If you can't be bothered to give us good service or food any longer, you will continue to lose regulars. However, Greco has better food and more friendly service. This place could struggle once Greco opens nearby if the new Greco has quality similar to their back bay location. One customer service point. If you struggle a bit with English just say so, there is no shame in this. Don't keep telling the customer they are speaking too soft when the customer is already speaking quite uncomfortably loud. Just be honest and say you are struggling to understand and ask them to speak more slowly. read more

I also liked that they served their meat in that Brazilian restaurant type of way where they slice it off a huge rotating skewer thing. I literally cleaned out my entire food and left nothing behind. The chicken was a little dry but when I say a little I mean a very small amount and only the really small pieces, the beef was delicious. First and foremost the food is good and prices are reasonable. That being said on my last visit one employee gave me a generous side of hummus. After adding the meat to the order a second employee noticed the generous amount of hummus and decided to take action. He grabbed a serving spoon and began scooping hummus out of my order and putting it back in with the rest of the hummus. Hummus that had touched pepper, tomato, feta cheese, beef and rice. Not only do I consider this bad service, as someone who has food allergies I found this unacceptable. If another customer came in after me and ordered hummus and was allergic to any of the previously mentioned foods or was for example a vegetarian that entire bin of hummus is now contaminated. All because the one employee wanted to be stingy and pinch some pennies. read more

I am tasked with ordering lunch at least twice a month for my office. I have to say that Aceituna is one of our favorites. As for catering, the two ladies, Yenny and Gina, are super responsive and helpful. The menu is also wonderful when working with multiple allergies. Each order also comes with food labels that list common dietary restrictions, taking the ease out of helping each visitor with creating their meal. Truly love this location and all it has to offer.
