We had another wonderful experience at The Hunt today. Today we purchased a dining room table and eight chairs. This beautiful piece had been gently used at local winery with a wedding venue. Our friend's who were shopping with us, also purchased a high top table and four stools made from oak wine barrels. Both purchases were warm rustic unique pieces that will add years of charm to our homes. So this business made me write my first-ever review. If you want to pay more than double purchasing off of Amazon's new price for a used version of the same item, this is the place for you. I went into to the shop knowing it was somewhat overpriced-- the price tags for some of the items I saw were inflated compared to other consignment/thrift shops I've been to. So when I decided to purchase this stackable bamboo nightstand, I knew I wasn't getting a deal. I already saw how they hid the nightstand that was in worse shape under the other despite marking it as "gently used". However, I had the expectation that I was only being somewhat ripped off. Like paying full price + 20% for a clearly used item? As luck would have it, I was still looking for more furniture online, and I got recommended the same exact piece I bought that same day! Yeah, as of today, it's $51 dollars new off of Amazon and I paid $139 for a piece that is only in okay shape. Idiot. I went back to the store the next day to get a refund. For the record, there are no signs or notes on the receipt that all signs are final, nor was I told this when I purchased. There are only signs assuring the authenticity of their items, which my experience runs counter to. When I asked the worker there about returns/store credit, he told me that all sales are final at consignment shops. As someone who frequents those kinds of shops, I can tell you that objectively isn't true, and when I pointed that out, he said I could ask the manager for store credit when she's in on Wednesday. He also asked how I can tell it's the same model if the piece of furniture I have doesn't have a model number. I have eyes, and you can also judge from the photos I'm posting. Thinking back now, since he didn't really look at the nightstand I purchased? How did he know it was without a model number, thus making it hard to compare unless you stumbled upon the original like I did? It makes you wonder if this is a common practice at this store. I'm not going back on Wednesday cause obviously even if I get the store credit, I would still be replacing it with something egregiously overpriced. Typing this out is making me feel like a naive fool because there were plenty of signs of untrustworthiness I saw and ignored, but this review is so you don't ignore the voice in your head telling you to get out and spend your money elsewhere! And since the other pair of this item is still in the store, definitely just buy it off of Amazon! read more

The store is literally packed from floor to ceiling with high end HIGH QUALITY furniture and decor! But the best part about it is the pricing...I have toured huge consignment centers in SD and OC and have never seen prices this fair! The staff is also so knowledgeable, courteous, and hospitable! I went into the store a couple of times and was told by employees that I should be receiving checks. Great collection of some really interesting furniture and decor pieces. A fair amount of modern/contemporary pieces with a few vintage and antiques in the mix. Some items were very pricey but in general good source of consignment pieces for the home. Worth going back again. read more

Margaret and Coco are amazing to work with when you are trying to find something or trying to downsize. Every time I moved I have put my items on consignment with The Hunt. Margaret is extremely experienced. Knows exactly what will sell and what will not and how to price each item just right so it's in the sweet spot that will make a sell which will be a win win for each party involved. Since I found The Hunt, I have never gone anywhere else. I have had multiple moves and also had to source for staging etc. It's completely hassle free and I trust them 100%. I Consigned a couple of very expensive Baker side tables in late January. My date to pick up unsold items was when we were experiencing Covid and all stores had closed. I recently called to see if they were open and inquire about the tables and was told that they were donated because my contract was up. I understand this process during normal circumstances, however, with Covid going on I thought it a poor business practice to donate items without contacting the consigner first. They did the same thing to my sister who consigned with them. I won't be returning. read more

I am very disappointed with Margaret and The Hunt. She came to my home over a month ago to look over the things I wanted to sell and told me what she would and wouldn't take. Since I am moving to a smaller place I asked her about my sectional and dining room table with 6 chairs. They are in excellent condition and I wish I could take them with me. She agreed they would sell and gave me the name of a company which could pick them up and deliver them to the store 2 days before I was moving. She called me a week ago to confirm that I would be sending the furniture today. Today the moving company came and said the sectional has water stains and she wouldn't take it. The moving company called Margaret and told them and she told them to tell me she didn't want it; just to send the DR set. I told them that Margaret had looked at the sectional and said she would take it and called to confirm I was sending them. Margaret then called me and said there was no way she would take the sectional now. I was quite upset and said I am moving in 2 days and don't know what to do with the sectional, that she had already approved it. She said she doesn't look that closely when she comes out and went on about how high her rent is and so she can't sell "dirty furniture." I can't believe she would have me arrange for and pay a moving company only for her to change her mind. She never told me to have the sofa cleaned when she was here nor did she give me any written or even verbal conditions as to what she expected of me. I told her I was unhappy with her business practices and wouldn't recommend her to my friends. She said that if I wouldn't recommend her she wouldn't take the dining room set either and so they left without taking anything to her. Clearly you can't rely on Margaret or The Hunt to follow through with what they promise and I don't suggest counting on her or doing business with her. Carol B. read more
