I have only ever had 2 other hairdressers I have loved. Diane was AMAZING. She was very concerned about not damaging my hair during the bleaching process and was very sweet. As soon as she washed out the bleach I could tell the platinum was going to come out perfect which never happens. She was also amazing with her cutting skills. She had taken a before and after (I know I was really due for a cut) and I was shocked about just how badly it was needed. Highly recommend her and was very impressed in general. I naturally have dark brown hair, and I came in with an inspiration picture asking for an autumn copper-brown reddish color. They were very confident that they could make the color I wanted happen, which made me feel comfortable moving forward with the service. After the first round, she was already getting ready to send me home, but I told her I was not happy with the results because my hair barely looked different from when I came in. It stayed mostly the same dark brown, except for some patchy plum-colored areas. I paid $120 for that first service. After I explained that I was unhappy, she recommended bleaching my hair to get me closer to the lighter copper-brown reddish color I originally asked for. What bothered me was that before starting the bleach, she never told me she would also be doing another client's hair color at the same time. While the bleach was sitting in my hair, there was one point where she was away for about 40 minutes. I was so nervous about the bleach sitting in my hair that I actually started a timer myself because I did not want anything to happen to my hair. She was also leaving at other times in between for around 20 to 30 minutes while working on the other client. I really wish my hair had been monitored more closely throughout the bleaching process, especially because of how light it ended up becoming. Instead of the autumn copper-brown reddish color from my inspiration picture, I ended up with orange and blonde hair. I paid another $230 for the second service, bringing my total to $350. I am extremely disappointed that I spent $350, went through two rounds of color and bleaching on previously virgin hair, and still did not receive anything close to what I originally asked for. If you have naturally dark virgin hair and are looking to go lighter, based on my experience, I would definitely not recommend this place.

It can be surprisingly hard to find someone to do this kind of haircut (long fine hair) in the East Bay, but Irina really listens to the look you're going for. Her recommendations are always specific to your hair type, and I leave feeling less like I always have bedhead and more like I could be an art gallery girl in west village (iykyk).

So I drove to the city to see my old friend and my formal to go hairdresser. She cuts my hair short and says " see you in a year". But then she retired. On a Sunday walk, I ventured out of my usual path, and my luck struck. I passed by the corner of 44 th / Telegraph and discovered this hair salon. I searched on Yelp and read customers' praise. I called him and set an appointment. It is pandemic time, how does he handle the situation? He wore a mask. He cleaned out the room after the previous customer. He sprayed the room with an air cleanser, then left the door open for few minutes. He then led me in. He handed me an eye shield to cover my eyes which effectively protected me from any possible droplet. He handed me hand sanitizer before I left. He assessed my hair first, then asked how I would like it cut. I showed him a photo. He got right to work. My eye shield fogged up, I could not see how my hair was cut. But I felt very much at ease. Not worried about my haircut at all. After a meticulous and masterful cut, he washed my hair with a gentle scalp massage and a neck massage. This is almost the best part of the experience. Them came the layer by layer blow dry and styling. My hair turned out exactly what I asked him for, only better. K is an experienced hairstylist. He is gentle and patient. He pays attention to detail and style. You also get great music ( jazz) to enjoy and relax. I left there with a great feeling and a better look. I am so glad I found my hairdresser.
