I had done my hair with Tiffany several times for cuts and color. The first couple times, I was satisfied with both (I paid over $200 for the cut and over $400 for the balayage color, separate appts, and tipped 20% on top of it). The last time I went in for color highlights, Tiffany was not only a half hour late, but had triple booked herself with two other haircuts at the same time AND gotten her own hair blown out by another stylist. I understand that there's a lot of waiting time for color highlights, but I did not end up with any noticeable color at all at the end and was charged a premium $425! The hair salon looks run down to me, especially they charge a very premium price. The bathroom looks dirty as well as the inside of the studio. The price they charge is pretty high so I would expect a clean environment. The hairstylist was half hour late for my hair color balayage appointment. I was waiting outside of the studio so it was not a nice experience to begin with. She was juggling between another hair cut and my hair color. It's ok for me but i can tell she was rushing to get mine done. She completed in like in1.5 hours and the result looked just like normal highlights nothing special. I paid close to $500 for the color, which to me it's absolutely overpriced. I did similar Balayage at another hair salon and it took her like 3 hours to finish. It's a rip off to me. I did not think I would write a negative review but I'm truly devastated by the way this stylist cut my hair. Hair is a women's identity and she completely destroyed mine a week before my engagement party and a month before my wedding. I asked for no length off, long layers and curtain bangs. I never agreed to the length she said she wanted to cut. I said I do not care that the ends are damaged I will fix that in October when it no longer matters that my length is intact. I just want long layers at this time. She completely disregarded what I said and wanted and did what she wanted to do. She cut more than 4 inches from my hair and argued with me about its original length. As the person whose hair was chopped off, I think I would know how long it initially was. I could get over it if it was super blended and styled very well and like the picture I showed her but it doesn't. This is literally the worst and choppiest haircut I've ever had in my life. I really trusted the other reviews of this place and trusted my stylist to take care of me and listen to what I wanted. At this point it feels personal that she did this to my hair then blamed me after the fact. Truly devastated and do not recommend this place for cuts whatsoever. Don't risk it. Really nice woman/ owner but gave me a crooked cut. When I came for my appt a very nice young man immediately took me to the back to get shampooed. I had to stop him and ask that the hairstylist look at my hair before it was wet. I have thick/ wavy hair. How is a hairstylist suppose to know how to cut hair if they don't look at it dry first? Should have left then. She stopped cutting the other woman's hair and came to look at mine. Ok fine that works but awkward. After the shampoo I went and sat in the chair for 15-20 minutes while she finished the other woman. When she got to me the cut felt haphazard. And ended up uneven. She functioned as her own receptionist as well so was taking calls while cutting. She spent about 30 min on it charged me the highest amount. I would not go back. read more

Allure Salon is located on a busy street in front of Lake Merritt. Parking is street parking and it may be hit or miss in this area. Unfortunately, I came here on the fly because I was already in the area and I did not want to wait a few extra days for an appointment at my regular spot. I originally wanted to go back blonde, so I was showing my stylist some inspirations. She told me my hair would not be able to do that, I had to explain to her it would and those photo inspirations I was showing her was me. The owner (I believe) walked by and said they could do it. The process was not too bad, a bit quicker than my previous experiences. After a few hours, I saw the finished product and under the lighting in the shop and with the curls, it looked decent. I also told the stylist that I did not want to dye my roots and at the end, it looked like she dyed my roots, so I asked her about it and she said she did and if it was okay - at this point, she already done it, so there was no point in arguing. Fast forward the next day, after I washed my hair - my hair color was looking brassy and not well blended (like bad strands of highlights), and it was not that blonde. I called the salon and spoke with the owner, she told me she will either fix my hair or issue a refuse, I wanted a refund because I did not want to go through that hassle again. Apparently, I had to pay for the products that was used on my hair, which was about $60, but at least I got most of my money back to go to another salon to fix this mess. read more

The stylist arrived late and didn't know how to style hair as long as mine. I know that my hair is long, but I've never had these issues at any other salon when I get blowouts. It was a very painful appointment. My hair was half washed by a guy who didn't tell me his name, then half washed by the stylist, which was confusing. Not enough conditioner was used for my length, then she kept tangling my hair up in a round brush, getting it caught on things, and ripping the hair out repeatedly. Even when she brushed it, she ripped through very aggressively and broke a lot of my hair instead of trying to detangle it gently. I wish it had at least ended up looking good after all this, but the result genuinely looked worse than if I had blow dried my hair at home. It doesn't look very styled, and I had to detangle it even more when I got home :-( read more

I just realized that I haven't written a review yet, which is wild. Tiffany has been cutting my hair for about...7 years now? I honestly don't even remember how long it's been because it's been THAT long. I get compliments on my hair all the time (no exaggeration, at least 1-2x/week), and it's literally thanks to Tiffany's amazing talent and ability to cut and style your hair to match your face. I've had my hair longer, shoulder length, done a bob cut (what I currently have), chopped it into a pixie...Tiffany was there through all of my hair phases and was able to make every cut look perfect. My experience with this salon was AMAZINGGGG!!!! Tiffany was the person assisting me with my hair coloring. This is the first time I have professionally got my hair done since I've only dyed my hair by myself, but never bleached it. Tiffany made me feel comfortable right off the bat, I showed her pictures and explained how I didn't want it too dramatic; she explained the process she had to do and made me feel comfortable. My favorite part of it was when she was toning my hair and washing it. It felt like a massage and I have to admit I almost fell asleep. Iam in love with my new hair. I waited for this day to come when Allure Salon was able to operate again. My friend, Minnie, referred me to Ngan at Allure Salon. Although we were wearing our face mask, I could tell by looking at Ngan's face that she was really happy to have me there. She was really nice and she welcomed me with a warm smile. Ngan did a really good job on my hair today. I like how she explained the difference between balayage vs. highlights to me and recommended me going with balayage. She use her best judgement based on how often I touch up on my hair. I also really appreciate her taking her time to walk me through the process since it was my first time getting balayage done. I went with ash brown balayge. It went by pretty fast, the process didn't take that long as I thought it would. It was probably because of the conversations we were having on top of keeping myself busy during the process. The end results, love my hair. The colors definitely added a lot of dimension to my hair and made it look really natural. I am very happy with the end results. It was definitely an exciting, yet comfortable experience with Ngan. Debated writing this review and posting but decided I'll be honest and just do it. Came in for a haircut with Naomi and had a consultation before the cut/shampoo. We went over what I wanted (cut off 8 inches to donate and showed her the photo of the haircut I wanted). We went EXACTLY over what the cut was going to be like and everything sounded good. She went ahead and braided my hair and made the chop. As soon as she brought my hair to the front I knew immediately she took off 3-4 inches more than what we agreed to which to this day I find so odd because we WENT OVER THE STEPS during the consultation. At that point there was no point in arguing or throwing a fit, soon after she realized she messed it up (I could see it in her eyes) she asked to look at the photo again and said she wouldn't be taking off the extra inch (because she knew she already cut way too much off). From then she kept cutting and after an hour it was finally done. Haircut overall doesn't look horrible but it's definitely not what I asked for and showed her the picture of, which is really sad because for $95 (SF salon pricing ex. Patrick Evans) I would expect to get the haircut I asked for and my haircut was super simple so I wasn't even expecting it to be messed up for that price. Anyways she kept complimenting how soft my hair was as she was cutting it because I think she knew she messed up and was trying to make up for it. I wished she had acknowledged her mistake and offered a discount or something. I however am not a confrontational person and also what's the point it was already cut and you can't go back in time. I even tipped her $15 because I felt bad cause of Covid but honestly I shouldn't have tipped her anything and also refused to pay the $95 cut price but I did. Overall this haircut cost me $110 when I could have gotten the same below average cut at a super cuts for $30. Lesson learned and will not return. Only positive that comes out of the situation is that I'm donating the hair so the child receiving it will get an extra 3-4 inches. Again this is my honest review, based on other reviews they do a good job on coloring hair and seems to be average for other haircut reviews but my experience is not one that I expected. I came here because my sister and mom had gotten cuts here in the past so I trusted it. Again, this is a lesson learned and I will be looking for a new salon next time. read more

Almost a year later.. 4 sessions later - my hair is as healthy as it can be being a blonde .... say what?! You read that correctly. I have a deep brown natural hair color and Tiffany and exceeded all expectations of helping me maintain my blonde all along. I swear I will never trust anyone else with my hair. I asked for a more summer look (without the drastic REALLY blonde look) and she did such an amazing job.
