Do your research on the management of this venue. My husband and I had our wedding here October 2017 and Jayme Blue who manages the facility was an absolute horror to work with. From the very beginning we had a bad feeling about her due to her unprofessionalism . We loved the space because it was so unique which is why we ended up booking here despite our reservations. Jayme only communicates via text message and even requesting a receipt for our payments and a countersigned contract from her was a struggle. Over 11 months we spoke about things she would do for us for our big day. When it finally came to the week of the wedding she was visibly upset with us because she had to move her pieces of furniture out of the reception room so we could have a wedding in the space. We paid her $6,000 to rent the venue, how was it our responsibility to move her own furniture that we didn't want to use for the wedding? We gave her 10 days notice of what we wanted and did not want in the space. It is an event venue not a storage facility. Why didn't she use some of the money we gave her to hire people to help her move it. We came to the IceHouse to set up the day before the wedding once again Jayme was no where to be found. When she did pop her head in, her attitude was so disrespectful and rude to my entire family. She had us all in tears and stressed out. I have never been treated this way and we were paying customers! THE WORST PART!!- We then had to clean the entire venue which took over 10 hours- dust, dog hair, cat poop, bars were filthy, trash, and the bathrooms were horrid. I got married here last October and honestly am so thankful we found this unique venue and got to work with Jayme. Jayme is hands down one of the most talented and creative people I've had the pleasure of working/partnering with and we owe so much to her for making our day amazing. Jayme and I worked through the creative aspects the year leading up to the day - I was very relaxed and open to what she had in mind and trusted her fully. She blew it out of the water and ensured everything was perfect, even on our day which ended up having torrential rain, resulting in the venue literally being under water an hour before the ceremony. Jayme and team were literally on their hands and knees clearing the water and making the outside ceremony space work - way above and beyond than anything we could have asked. I will say that this venue is not for everyone - if you are uptight and want a more traditional wedding/experience, this is not the place for you. If you're open minded and want a truly unique/one of a kind venue and can go with the flow, you cannot find a better place in Phoenix. The ceremony cathedral room is so beautiful and the whole space has a very artistic feel to it. The other amazing aspect of this venue is that you are able to bring in all of your own vendors and own alcohol, a huge plus when dealing with an overpriced wedding industry. Riette and team were fantastic to work with for our wedding on 3/14/15. Very responsive with questions and proactive with checking in on a monthly basis 6+ months out from the event. I would definitely recommend working with them for any type of event in the Downtown Phoenix area. We used Classic Party Rentals for tables/linens and Christian and team were very knowledgable about the venue so it was a seamless experience. Same with Pourmasters for our hosted bar. this is more of a reminiseing with vinne then a review (that will come later) so Story time with vinnie! I have a love hate relation ship with the Ice house....I have seen more sunrises here than any other PHX location because I've shot so much stuff here....and we always seem to go to sunrise.... Once I left the Icehouse and passed by to men digging a ditch..."what have you been doing ?" They Asked me. "we have been digging a ditch for 6 hours and your twice as dirty as us!" well I had just spent 14 hours in the Ice house Rafters on my belly moving lights around on a rickety unsafe latter....(not the Ice houses fault, production should have had something safer...) despite that the Icehouse is one of the coolest Locations for just about any thing...Photo shoot, or film shoot, party or art gallery it s a unique place all its own... ok only been here once for just a party music thing....wish there was more bathrooms and the better drink Options....(-1 stars) read more

UNIQUE AND BEAUTIFUL! This is what we heard from our guests (along with quite a few "best wedding ever!"s), and we really could not be happier! The Icehouse has it all, and Riette is an amazing person to work with! It is perfect for someone who wants something a little different but also a classically beautiful backdrop. We were very excited about the Icehouse throughout the planning process - especially when every single other vendor told us it was one of their absolute favorite venues (including our photographer - very important opinion there!) - but seeing the space transformed the day of and in our wedding pictures still exceeded our wildest dreams. It complements whatever you put in it beautifully, has an interesting history, a great downtown location, and its layout makes it extremely functional for a wedding or whatever kind of event you are planning. (We used the cathedral room to have our ceremony under the stars and then just opened the doors to the silver room to give a relaxed flow for the reception.) We were also incredibly impressed with Riette's clear and fast responses to questions, her great tips, and her overall attitude about everything. Once you book the Icehouse, everything that happens after will reaffirm that it is the best choice you possibly could have made! We are thrilled with the Icehouse and forever thankful! PS - As far as my guest's comment below from 1/21/15 that it is in a sketchy location, it is in downtown Phoenix, and I really don't believe any more sketchy or less sketchy than the rest of downtown. The Icehouse was perfect and gorgeous for my wedding. We received so many compliments on how unique the venue was. Riette was more than helpful and accommodating to all of my wants and needs. Every time I wanted to show the venue to someone new she would make time for me. She had ideas and solutions for me the entire time. Her responses to everything were very prompt and she even did a monthly check in with me to see if there was anything she could help with. On the day of she personally put of my chandeliers and stayed throughout the night to make sure everything was going according to plan. Ultimately, she made everything I wanted happen and helped make my dreams come to true at The Icehouse. read more

My husband and I were just married at The Icehouse in downtown Phoenix earlier this month and we cannot say enough great things about the venue and the staff at Downtown Phoenix Venues. Riette is wonderful -- she is exceptionally knowledgeable about throwing a great party in Phoenix, had amazing recommendations for vendors, and was always available when we needed her throughout the planning process. The entire selection and planning process was a breeze, from our first site visit, to the no-nonsense contract that was very easy to understand. Day-of could not have gone smoother - her team worked seamlessly with all of our vendors and our army of friends and family who helped out. My wife and I recently got married here. I was recommended by a co work to get married here due to my wife having a small budget. You can bring your our liquor, catering service and dj. Overall, the experience was good. In the beginning during the down payment the owner jayme informed my wife and I that it will cost us 2k to rent out the icehouse. We agreed to the number when we finally come up with the money she changed her mind in told us that the price went up another 1k. I asked her why she informed us it's because she was going to do the decor of the venue that day. I asked her is there anything else cause I wanted to pay for everything 6 months prior to our wedding. She responded no just 3k. I paid her and the count down began. A week before the wedding Jayme informs me that she needs another 500 for security deposit and that I would have to get my own liability insurance for our wedding. Why didn't she say this prior? Who knows but I was able to scramble up the money and got it. Day of the wedding 30 mins before we said "I do", Jayme was still putting up decorations. She attempted to yell at me asking me "where is your coordinator they are supposed to set this up?" I told her "I paid you a extra 1k that you asked for to get this all set up for my wedding" after a quick disagreement she finally did what I paid her for. Hour 45 mins late we was finally able to say our "I Do's". Jayme did complete the job wedding went smoothly afterwards just a few hiccups but overall it was good. read more

I was just married at the Icehouse only a week ago and I could not wait to write a review to rave about this venue. Originally I wanted a low key wedding. I was looking for a unique venue to just hold the ceremony in and then find a restaurant to host the brunch afterwards because I did not want to plan all the details that come with a reception (linens, centerpieces, etc.) However, after we toured the Icehouse with Riette Bartlett of Downtown Phoenix Venues, I was willing to forgo that idea and really plan all the details because I loved the venue that much. I could not picture my wedding day in any other place. I began working with Riette and her staff planning the big day and I cannot begin to tell you how much they helped me. They were always responsive to my phone calls/emails and continued to help me during moments of chaos that are bound to come with planning a wedding. I did have a concern at the very beginning because I had to choose one of their approved caterers. Once I contacted Lauren Leonard at Santa Barbara Catering I was put at ease and knew I had nothing to worry about. She worked within my budget and was always eager to suggest alternatives when something didn't work with my financial constraints. Even with a smaller budget, I feel I did not have to sacrifice quality of food with Santa Barbara Catering. It was an absolute pleasure to work with both Riette and Lauren. I would absolutely recommend this venue! I want to get married all over again just because everything went smoothly and according to plan.
