We stayed at this hotel twice--once on our way to Texas and again on our way back home--and it was a great stop both times. It served its purpose perfectly. The room was clean, comfortable, and, most importantly, wonderfully cool. Thank goodness for the air conditioning after a long day on the road! The beds were comfortable, the rooms were well maintained, and the complimentary breakfast was a great way to start the day. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the pool and getting a workout in before breakfast. Overall, it was a great stay, and we will definitely be back on our next road trip. read more

Trying to get a hotel near downtown is like pulling teeth! Even though it was a small hike, this hotel made the grade. I dug the added security of the room-card entry into the hotel (or are they all like this now?); didn't try the fitness center but the pool/hottub were fine, as was breakfast. First let me start by saying that I would of loved to have given a 5 star review. Everything about the stay was perfect after we cleared the initial hurdles. When we arrived in our room, it was around midnight, everything looked nice and clean. When we went to the bathroom, we noticed what looked like blood on the shower curtain and floor. It might have been nail polish because blood tends to turn brown after a while, but we called the front desk and they swapped out the shower curtain for us. Next after we took showers , the towels were wet! not from the steam of the shower, but most likely they did not dry all the way when they put them in the dryer. So there I go back down stairs to the front desk to ask for more towels. Once we went to bed, it all went smoothly from that point on. The beds are really really comfortable. Other reviews mentioned that the basketball court was a problem. We had no issues. Our window was directly facing the basketball court and the light was shining at our window. We closed the curtains and had no issues. Next, other reviews complained about how rude the front desk workers were. They were very friendly every time I went downstairs no matter what time of the day or night it was. Others complained about the continental breakfast and how poor the options were. My wife an I thought it was great! The breakfasts offer you scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, sausage gravy for hot options. Then you have 3 different cereals, bagels, pastries, wheat and white bread. Fruits, yogurts, fruit cups, instant oatmeal, and a waffle station!. Not to mention the Orange Juice, coffee and variety of extra to-go treats that are in the dining hall mini fridge like almond milk, regular milk, chocolate milk, juices, hard boiled eggs, and sting cheese. I am not sure what others expected but the food was great! They even had some Gluten Free muffins available for my wife. The kitchen staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Breakfast is from 7am-10am. It might be 6am, I recommend you double check with the front desk. You are smack in downtown surrounded by other hotels, bars and restaurants. I would definitely stay here again! In fact I am going back to phoenix in 2 weeks and am already making my travel arrangements. Hopefully next time I will be able to give it a 5 star review. I feel those who gave this hotel negative reviews need to set their expectations accordingly. You're not staying at the Ritz Carlton! read more

Nice people working in this hotel, very accommodating. The breakfast included a wide variety of foods including healthy options. The room itself was in great disrepair. The refrigerator made noises all night and the thermostat did not appear to be working as it was set to 72 degrees and felt like 60. The bathroom was filthy. Greasy bath tub and the drain was plugged. The toilet had pink mold in it and didn't flush without holding down the handle. The shower curtain needed washing. The carpet between the two beds was torn. I didn't book the room, my friend did but at $240 a night we would've been better off at Motel 6. read more

MJ made our stay great and Lucia Valdez ruined it. MJ at the front desk went above and beyond to make us comfortable from the moment we walked through the doors to the very last day. He was calm during an issue with the fire alarm in a guest room and addressed all the families who were waiting to get checked in as well. Very cool under pressure. He greeted everyone at the counter with a smile instead of being on his phone like another front desk staff. He deserves a promotion! Lucia Valdez deserves to work at the DMV where she can be rude to the passing customers. We just joined a Real Estate Investing group which has us traveling every three months. After the first night at Best Western Downtown Phoenix AZ, we decided to book all our stays with The Best Western, but not if people like Lucia are managing. She has no compassion when she heard i got my finger caught in a coin operated machine she said "I don't care about your fingers" and when I lost my money in the machine she refused to reimburse me so she stole my money. Came here on a business trip, staying five days. The front desk provided me with restaurant recommendations which was appreciated. My room seemed clean. Breakfast is just ok, your standard complimentary selection. The powdered eggs were not good. They had few cereal choices, different varieties of bread, oatmeal, yogurt, and fruit. This is about the company. Not a certain property. I was told I could price match. I did. Found a way better rate with free cancellation too. Got denied by some fine print that the lady on the phone left out when telling me about the price matching procedure. This will be the LAST time I stay at a best western property. Yes I spoke to someone. "Our policy is wat it is". And on the phone I was told "I need to brush up on it too since I didn't know if either". Yes the problem solving department said that to me on the phone tonight at 1855 Tucson Az time. They admitted to me they don't look or read the policy. WOW. This place is horrible... front Desk lady was rude & not helpful at all.... I called to make reservations at 3:50am was told I can go ck in. Got to hotel at 4am & as soon as I told the lady she was piss & said, "I don't know why they keep doing this, there's no rooms & you can't ck in till tomorrow" Told me I had to call customer service line for my refund. Stayed here last night 19 December 2021. Got to my room very late. Pulled back the bed sheets to get in bed and.. the sheets had blood stains. I did inform the manager and the sheets got changed. However, this is totally unacceptable housekeeping. I don't recommend staying here read more

Well, I'm. It surprised this place has a 2/5 stars. The design of the hotel is garbage. Whatever you do don't take a room with an odd number. Especially the 1st or 2nd floor. (Unless they fix the issues noted below) The reason being is they face the pool AND a basketball court. So I was in room 209, probably the worst room on site. The security lights from the pool are 15ft away and aimed DIRECTLY at the window. Also have fun listening to people play Basketball. Rating Breakdown: Comfortability: 2/5 (2 because the bed was comfortable, but noise was bad) Cleanliness: 4/5 Staff: 5/5 Noise: 1/5 I would recommend this property to the following: 1) remove the basketball court. Nobody comes to best western to use your court. That's dumb. You're just annoying more guests than you are satisfying. 2) Fix the pool gate door so it doesn't slam. (It's super loud) 3) Fix the room doors so they don't slam. All the doors naturally slam SUPER loud. This is pretty easy, spring loaded hinges could be installed or a damper added. 4) Fix the security light by the jacuzzi so it doesn't beam through the windows of the rooms 15 ft away. Aside from these things, the staff was very nice and the free breakfast was a plus. 3 stars seems fair. Would give it a 1 or a 2 if it wasn't for the staff. read more

After staying 5 nights and spending almost $1,700 for one room (2 people) I was not allowed to use the hotel pool for two hours while waiting for family to finish at a conference and head to the airport. Ridiculous and disgusting. I have never stayed at a hotel that does not allow you to use the facilities after checking out. They claimed it was a liability issue, but I was allowed wait in the lobby for two hours. This makes no sense. plus I was warned by several people about walking around the seedy neighborhood by myself. Stay somewhere else. read more

My sister was in Banner hospital I live in Las Vegas so I needed a motel close to the hospital. "Jennifer" is probably the RUDEST person I have ever come across in a customer service position. She spoke to us like we were incompetent and even though I was embarrassed and crying at the desk while simultaneously trying to figure out the issue on our end for a room booked by our company, she proceeded to tell ME that I was RUDE for asking questions. She then spoke around me to my coworker only and told her "Thank YOU for not being rude." I have NEVER been treated more poorly for absolutely no reason. Stayed here three nights over the new year's weekend. The rooms are very dated, carpet is old and dirty. Make plans for breakfast because you will be very disappointed with their selection. The doors to the rooms are not a soft close and it was constant slamming for two nights in a row with the party people. It is loud! Absolutely awful. Have you ever felt like a business is just ripping you a new one? Well this is my experience. I am here for the Super Bowl and I expected to pay over $1000 a night in a dumpy hotel but I didn't expect to have to pay to park in their lot and I did expect a clean towel and my bed made. They are NOT cleaning rooms, pancakes but no syrup, breakfast is over by 9:30 before most of the hotel wakes up. The fridge rattles all night, the bathroom has rust running down the wall, no safe in the room. It's a nightmare. Don't waste your money here. read more

They lost my reservation, gave me a room without a chair or functioning bath vent fan and said those rooms don't come with a chair, yet i could see the indentations on the carpet where a chair once sat. The tv remote didn't work and the manager ask if it would be easier for me to move into another room. I move and all the sudden i had a chair, vent fan and functional tv remote. In light of the disrespect from the staff and the out of line questions and request for documentation of a service animal (you are only allowed to ask if it's a service animal and what service it provides per federal law) I'm again instead of asking for a $50 credit if it wasn't fact $81 at $81 refund. I was only there again is short. Of time and felt extremely uncomfortable to the point where if you checked the footage I wasn't even there. I spent the majority of the time trying to get a hold of a shuttle - after being told they would not pick me up and threatened to be escorted by the police. I asked for an investigation I ask for an apology yes you gave me an apology but an apology only go so far. So I appreciate your response but you've been very late in getting back. So I'd like you to circle back actually completed investigation to the claims I've made and get back to me tomorrow via phone, email, detailed voicemail or text. To be crystal clear I have documented phone calls that were several nobody ever got back to me I was told One thing by One staff member another thing by another and again blatantly disrespected. I cannot emphasize the level of discomfort that I felt and if there was audio recording by all means you would have to hesitate to go ahead and issue that refund.
