Ideal Store refills propane tanks as well as exchanges tanks if you prefer. Refilling here is a great price and one of only a few places around that does it. They're always friendly when I come here and have lots of grocery items too. BTW, propane refills are done 9AM to 5PM but you can still exchange tanks outside of those hours. read more

Since your normal hours and propane hours are different, please publish this in your yelp listing. Otherwise people coming for propane will be disappointed when they come at the store open time to find out they have to wait an hour+ for propane. Also, the person that does propane seems to never be on time. Service is great when they're there! Take this for what it's worth. read more

I remember years ago when this store used to be an auto parts store for RVs and Trailers. The previous owner left and sold it to the new owner of now Ideal Store, the huge propane tank is still there, propane is sold from 9am to 5pm, five or six days a week. There's been food here now for a long time since my review. The propane is still the best price around. The food is really good, pricey as you would imagine for a store this size to make a profit but you've got nearly a full size grocery store selection. the RV supplies are equally dear in price but if you're in a jam and didn't think ahead to carry extras, you can get it here. The staff is friendly and professional. You also pay for the dump service at Trailer Villa here. Without these two services, Trailer Villa and Ideal Store, I'd sell my RV and go back to sticks and bricks. Rving would just be too difficult. read more

As the signage states, Idea Store stocks a nice range of life goods. This new business is a great example of a modern lifestyle convenience store. They carry the customary items and much more including fresh vegetables and an excellent selection of craft beers. Also appreciate how they sell propane measured by the gallon instead of by the fill. read more

This is truly the ideal store. If you live in Menlo Park and forgot something on your grocery store trip, odds are you can find it here. I've been to this store, and when I saw it only had 3.5 stars I had to investigate... Most of the 1 star reviews are prior to the remodel and change of ownership. The hubby and I were looking to exchange our propane tank and was not looking forward to driving to Mtn View to the big name store for a good deal. I checked yelp and saw this place so we decided to come check it out. The guy at the register, whom now I think was the manager, was extremely helpful. He explained it was probably better to just refill the tank we already had than to exchange it. We followed his recommendation and spent way less than what we would have exchanging our tank elsewhere. After refilling the tank we decided to look around the new store and was pleasantly surprised! It was nice and neat and had most of what you needed from your local "corner store". We ended up buying some produce; saving us another trip. I was reminded to write this over due review as we just realized we are out of propane and will be needing to head over soon! read more

What a fantastic little RV parts supply store. I have been meaning to write a review. They have pretty much everything here. It's like Orchard supply for Rvs! It beats having to drive all the way down to San Martin. I can get almost everything here. My inverter for my motorhome gave out and I found it here and price was right. The guys who work here knows their inventory. I will agree that there are some items you can find cheaper online but somethings you just have to touch and feel and they are specialist here. They also had a good buy on a 30 AMPS extension when I was here last. They are also an authorized "Interstate Battery" dealer which is great as there are very few who are. They have certified techs who can work on your rig and if you are looking to get your ONAN generator serviced this is the place! Cheers! :p read more

I don't know why the Ideal Store doesn't have 5 stars. They really have everything you need including ice and propane refill to keep your bbq going. All of the staff are genuinely friendly, which is pretty rare to find. It really feels like our neighborhood store. Sure, the prices are often slightly higher than a supermarket but they clearly don't have the same volume... You can't compare them to a giant supermarket. Ideal store has always had everything I needed when I didn't want to trek to the supermarket and I'll pay for that local convenience. We're so happy you're here! read more

I went in today for the first time and I was wowed to see that they carry so many things that I use. They have laundry soap, fresh produce, sandwiches, beverages, ice cream, coffee, pastas and much much more it's a mini supermarket. The customer service was Fabulous. Like the name Says IDEAL. It's very convenient especially if you live in the trailer park like myself literally it takes me 2 minutes to get to the store from my RV. And the staff is always nice and friendly. They sell beer and propane those are a big pluses for me lol. Fantastic little RV shop. Went in looking for a propane regulator for my (let's be honest, here) crappy cooktop in the mid-afternoon on a Saturday. They didn't have the one I needed in stock, but were happy to order the part for me. Instead, while looking through their very high-density store, I happened to notice a new cooktop on display that seemed like the right size (it was) and they installed *right then* for only a half-hour of labor! The price for the cooktop was less than Amazon, even after taxes. After that was dealt with so swiftly and painlessly, I started asking some more questions about some quirks that I'm still learning to love with my new-to-me camper, and they were very helpful in explaining things (where explainable) and interested to help solve it (where the "quirk" sounded more like "broken"). Planning, now, to have them fix or replace my refrigerator and hopefully a few other issues in the coming week. I will update this review after that, but so far I'm just very pleased and so happy to have found an RV place that is up on the peninsula, very well-stocked (another review said "parts and fixtures only"...this person must not have made it past the entry-way), and not trying to charge me $100 to evaluate what *might* be wrong with an appliance (*cough*CampingWorld*cough*). read more

HORRIBLE! I'm not one to exaggerate but the service there was unbelievably horrible. The man was such a rude man! They shouldn't even have a business ran by him. My uncle was looking at a piece he needed so he took a picture of it and we thought it was high priced and when he asked if we were going to get it my uncle said no just looking and the man turned around and said "F*ck you're wasting my time" so my dad said excuse me. And the guy told us to get out cause we were wasting his time another 3 times. Such a rude person. Who does that!!! I wish I would have recorded it to put his face all over Facebook so people know not to go here. It's not even worth it! Needed a new shower head for the RV for an upcoming trip. I took the old part with me and was helped by a nice guy who recommended one, which I bought. Installed it and it was not the right part ( we need the type that you can shut off during your shower, which we told the nice guy). Took it right back. The nice guy wasn't there. Instead there was a young woman who said I needed to pay a 25% restocking fee!! I made my case, but she wouldn't budge. She said I could either keep the part or return it and pay the restocking fee. She said she will have to sell it at a discount because it had been opened. Would not take any responsibility for the staff selling me the wrong part. I paid the fee and left saying, "I'm not happy." She said, "Me neither!" BEWARE AND BE FOREWARNED - DON'T SHOP HERE. PS Later I looked online and found the same part for half of Ideal's price Later that night: In reply to the response from Ideal: at no time did anyone mention a restocking fee when the original purchase was made. That is just not true. The fact is that we brought in the original part and said we were replacing it because the on-off switch had broken. We were sold a shower head that did not have this feature (even though he said that it did). Since we like to bookdock, this feature is important to us. Although the salesman was a nice guy, he really didn't know his stock. They only had one with an on-off switch and he told us to stay away from that one because it was for outdoor use. I apologize for not recognizing the salesman when I returned. read more

Day after a holiday - requested Mobile Service around 10 am today, told someone would be to me this morning. Before noon, some one was here. I will update this review after the parts come in and the repair is done tomorrow. Took and extra day to get the Axle installed, but that was done onsite at the RV park, so we were living in it. I went in to The Ideal Store for the first time today. This place is a gem! The store is incredibly clean and well stocked. It's not just a convenience store; it's a small grocery store. You can buy everything you need here to make a main course, sides and desert. The produce looks really fresh, and they have a nice little selection of prepared foods, like sandwiches and pasta salads. I bought a chicken salad sandwich, which was delicious. I spoke with a member of the staff and they are very open to taking suggestions about products to carry and seem to really want serve our little community over here on the "other side." :) I plan on coming by frequently, and I hope this much-needed business thrives. read more

Stopped in this morning with my honey we wanted some energy drinks for our drive. When we walked in we were greeted by a very sweet lady I didn't get her name. She let us know that there was fresh coffee and donuts which I loved because I might not have seen the coffee I got the French roast and it was perfect. Didn't look around much but what I did see I liked. It's nice to know I now have somewhere to go within walking distance when I'm in a rush as I do not drive. read more

I live in my rv full time. The folks that work there are awsome! I often go in to visit with no more than questions. The little short guy, ... I think his name is Phil, anyway, he is always so very helpful and patient when I ask what to some would be dumb questions. They have anything and every thing one could ever need there. Excellent little shop. I just bought an RV two weeks ago, and so everything is new to me. I'd tried to get propane at a U-Haul and a gas station, and the attendant was unable to fill it. The gas just poured out. I read my manual and learned that the 20% valve needs to be opened when filling (which neither attendant did), but I got the impression it wouldn't actually prevent filling, it was just stupid and dangerous not to do it. The first guy said it was my valve, the second said it was his hose connector. A guy at Family RV said they'd look at it for $85 (plus cost of propane, and probably $100 to fix whatever was wrong with it) if I left it overnight. I assumed my gauge was wrong, and it was already full, so I just started using the propane appliances as though I had a full tank...turned out not to be so, and I ran out in a couple of days. The fellow at Ideal took one look and said, "You need a gasket. I'll be right back." He walked into the shop, came back moments later with a gasket. $3.95, plus the cost of the propane (fairly priced, lower than all the other places I'd tried, actually). The attendant was also extremely helpful in guiding me and my 33' motorhome into the somewhat snug spot by the propane tank. When I mentioned that I was new to all of this, and would be living in the RV for the next year or two, he brought the owner of the shop out, and he was also very helpful in terms of offering up advice and making sure I had everything I needed for the road. He directed me to curtain carriers to fix a broken bedroom door curtain (and before that I didn't know what they were called, much less where to buy them), and helped me pick out chemicals for the water tanks. I also picked up a dump line angle connector. Prices seemed fair, and the knowledgeable and friendly staff made it a great experience. It's a dingy old store and the lot is a bit cranky and small, and it's in a bit of a ghetto with several mobile home and parking lot RV parks, but I'll definitely be back every time I'm in the bay area and need propane or doodads for the RV. They seemed to have a little bit of everything you'd need. I like old shops like this, where everyone actually knows and loves what they're selling. Highly recommended. read more
