They have a good, short selection of wines, which is great because I have the MOST indecisive girlfriend and she was actually able to order something in less than a few minutes! As someone who came from a family of Greek immigrants, it was cool seeing so much wine representing my homeland. What a cute little wine bar right near my apartment! Came in around 8 on a Saturday, and there were some seats free at the bar, excellent! There's a little table in the window, maybe a dozen or so seats at the bar, and then a few tables in the back. Pretty good wine selection, and they were very patient while I tried 2 different wines and tried to make up my mind. Standard snack menu to accompany the wine. Right when you walk in - you step in to a dim sexy atmosphere. You are greeted by a very nice bartender who will help you decide your choice of bottle via sampling. Then you head to intimate table in the back - where you will enjoy warm bread/ cheese/ fruit / yummy olives. The place was not loud at all - so you can have great conversation. The Immigrant is a special place. I have been meaning to write a review for sometime, as I have been a frequenter for years. The bar tenders, wait staff and proprietor make this place the magical neighborhood spot that it has become... The variety of seasonally changing beers (Pumpkin batch in October is my favoritie) and extraspecial stock of beers and wines gives the Immigrant an edge that is unmatched in the East Vill and city in general. My friends here who know wine love the selection, foodie little treats that are always being offered around are awesome too , with an top notch baker upstairs as well!! I'm done many of a date, friends hanging or sunday night recaps - the best neighborhood spot i could imagine. Proud to say it is an extension of my living room. I have been going here since it opened. Great cozy spot for a glass of wine. Can be hard to secure a spot during peak hours because there are so few seats but great during off-peak. Owner and staff are incredibly friendly. Enjoy happy hour $10 off a bottle of wine. Limited snack menu is mostly meat, cheese, nuts, olives - the basics. You can't make a dinner of it, but it ties you over or makes a great pre-dinner snack. read more

I have never written a review on yelp before and this seems like a good place to start. I love this bar! The wine list is great, the atmosphere is relaxed and cozy and the staff is very friendly. I hosted a small engagement party here a few years ago and the owner could not have been more helpful. He reserved the back of the bar for us and worked with bride's parents to select assorted appetizers and bottles of wine for the party. I came back two years later on a snowy Friday evening in March for my birthday. I did not make a reservation, but my friends and I were able to get the back table again and took advantage of their excellent happy hour specials. This is one of my favorite wine bars in the city, I only wish it was closer to my apartment. read more
