And will say kinda felt bad for staying over the closing time. I apologize :(( but really give them a prop for being so kind to do this!!! I love India Garden. Always tasty and hearty vegetarian options that hit the spot. I usually order to go or from a delivery service but the few times I've dined it the service has been great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are very attentive, although the dining room could use some improvements, it just looks a little out dated, but very elegant and traditional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also love their drinks and all of their traditional desserts. Big restaurant with plenty of seating and quick service--so quick the waiters almost seem in a rush despite the restaurant being mostly empty. The Chicken Korma was good, but the food in general is kinda pricy for the portion size. Also realized all the appetizers come from the frozen section at the Indian grocery store next door. I wish there is more India restaurant presence around the South Bend area, but India Garden always remain as a good option around town. They did some renovation since the last time that I been here and playing some Indian music. The server is very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the Aloo Gobi and Chicken Tandoori. The flavor of the Aloo Gobi is just on point. I got mild for the spicy level, and have just the right amount of heat. The Chicken Tandoori is served on a sizzler. Very excited to hear the sizzling sound and smoking from the sizzler. The chicken itself is super juicy and tender, along with some onion. I also miss their weekday lunch buffet options. Vey happy to finally try this place in person. I was brought samosas a few months back and even after they sat in the fridge for a day they were delicious, especially with the chutney served with it. Inside, it was exactly what you would picture for a restaurant in this location as it was probably an old banquet hall at some point. We started with the vegetable samosa which was even better fresh. For our entrees we got chicken madrasi, reshmi kabob which came with rice and lentils, naan, and roti. The reshmi kabob was cooked to perfection, tender with a char on the outside. The bread was soft, and the lentils were rich in flavor. The only issue was the service was lacking a bit. They were slow to taking our order and getting the check (we waited 15 minutes), but the food came out fast. Service- 3/5 Ambience- 3.5/5 Value- 4/5 Food- 4.5/5 We will definitely be back! read more

Update 12/7/22- another visit, another great experience. Punjabi wings were good (would have liked a little more salt) Chicken tandoori, Garlic Naan, vegetable samosa and sauce were flavorful, spicy but not overpowering, fast service, clean restrooms. Never disappointed (yet). We've been here at least 5-6 times over the last few years and the food is always amazing. Lentils, Punjabi chicken wings, tandoori chicken, Tikka masala, non vegetarian Thali, mango shake, mango juice tastes like the (Jumex) have all been cooked to perfection. The lamb had good flavor but tasted more like beef, but my wife said it was good. The goat was flavorful and tender. Clean restrooms. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but it is actually a pretty fancy restaurant inside. I went to a private party here and they seated us on a separate section which was nice. I was surprised how packed this place was! You can definitely tell it is a popular spot. We got the bangan bhartha and the bhindi masala. The bangan bhartha was way too spicy for me, but the flavors were really good. I absolutely loved the bhindi masala. It looks like a small amount of food but it is actually a lot. It also comes with rice and our server told us we could get refills of rice. The food was really good, but it would've been nice for a server to come by more often. We all ran out of water and we had to go find a server when we wanted to ask for more rice. But with how packed it was, I can understand. Overall, this place was really good! read more

I live around the corner and it took forever for me to realize that this place existed... Their sign is obscured by shrubbery and is difficult to see from Edison. I was so glad to finally grab dinner here. We visited on a Sunday night. The place was packed and they were very short staffed (like everywhere else). We waited an hour for our entrees - but I couldn't even be annoyed because 1) the waitress was super apologetic, and 2) the food was so delicious. The three of us were all satisfied with our entrees. Anticipate the wait and go little earlier than you normally eat your meal. Bring a friend or two to keep you company while you wait. You won't be disappointed. read more

Delicious!!! I moved back to SB recently. In Indy we had so many Indian restaurants. Some owned by Indian families from different regions of India or Pakistan. I love The India Garden. The spices they use seem to be from same region as my favorite India restaurant in India. Remember that you can request your food to be cooked mildly spiced, medium & hot. read more

Excellent authentic food from India! India garden has been here around the area for a long time, and its lunch buffet is one of the perks that people come and try. They have about ~12 dishes that you could choose from, including veggies, chicken curry, samosa, etc. The chicken curry is very genuine and tasty, rich in the flavor. Also the mushroom soup was also one of my favorite. They also have rice pudding, mango pudding and other two desserts. All the desserts are so good! The wheat with cream is my best, tastes very smoothy and also not that sweet. The restaurant is also very large and is good for family or friends reunion; the price for buffet is around 12 dollars! It was a great find during our summer vacation in Mishawaka to cover dunes and beaches around. It has great ambience and decoration. We were seated right away. Tables were clean. Order was taken quickly but serving took a while. Servers were professional. We ordered Khumb Bhaji on a suggestion. We also ordered malai kofta, Chola bhatura, naan, tandoori roti and garlic naan. Naan dough was fresh, crisp and favourful, not soggy or too stretchy. Tandoori roti was good and made of whole wheat, tasted good. Khubh bhaji uses the same curry and chicken curry, so was really flavorful, right blend of spice, oil and cooked to a right taste. It has mashroom and spinach. Very aromatic and delicious. Malai kofta curry was real to expectations, creamy, nutty and right aroma and flavor. Kofta were good in taste and texture. My wife really enjoyed Chole bhature. The bhatura was fried to right texture and flavor. Dough was fresh and not stretchy. Not oily at oil. Chole were flavorful and spicy and were served with raita, pachranga pickle and onion. Upon entry we were asked whether we wanted a booth or a table, and were shown to our booth. Like most restaurants greet you, we were not greeted. The waiter who took our order was very short and rude with us. Looked like he didn't want us there. He did not check on us once and he had to be waived over in order for us to get our check. The food was good, through. We ordered the curry and vindaloo. Both were good. All in all, food was good and the customer service sucked. Noticed that our waiter checked on a couple next to us and seemed nice and attentive, but as soon as he got to us, boy was he different (still short and rude). We had such high hopes for this place, especially with how long we've been wanting to try this place. Disappointed, with the service and rudeness. Won't be back there. read more
