Any time you have a person who you regularly go to for cuts and you have to switch, it's hard because you and that person have bonded and they know how to cut your hair. So, my partner had been coming here for a while, but then his regular barber left and they suggested Alicia. Yea, it was a bit hard at first, but after that first hair cut, Alicia got better knowing the style my partner wants. And now she is his regular barber. Now on to my kid, the child does not want anyone else but Alicia to touch and cut their hair. Alicia was patient, kind, and really worked with my kid to get their hair cut. She uses sisscors to cut their hair because the kid does not like the sound of the buzzer cut. Also, they prefer the surfer look so Alicia definitely nails it every time. They love her so much that when I style their hair at home, they always say, "Make sure to style it like Alicia did!" So definitely, keeping Alicia as my kid's stylist. Now on to myself, I have longer hair, and Alicia 100000% understands the type of cut and style I want. She was able to layer my hair, give it texture, lightness, style, and a new look and vibe that I absolutely love. She also understands that it's not always possible for me to get free time for hair cuts, so she cut mine shorter than normal so when it grows, it will grow into the style, and that's what I like to do. Called three hours in advance to see if they take walk-ins. He told me 3 pm he can take me which was perfect. I told him that works out perfect and I'll see him then cause I have to take me kids to snips. I go 15 min to let him know about 3pm and he tells me he has an other client coming. I went to this barber shop over the weekend and I'm really particular with who touches/ cuts my hair.. this was the first time going there and my experience was stellar. The attention given to my specific wants was on point.. I have a lot of hair and it's difficult to style it but my stylist really put some time into showing how I can style it with a blow dryer.. At this point I have given up on trying to find a decent barber. And ill preface, Im not one to cause a scene most of the time when it comes to poor service. I just deal and never return. The following is my honest experience I just had at this establishment: Saturday 9-1-18 in the morning I made an appointment for a $25 haircut and beer with Veronica who I understand as the owner/operator. I get there at about 1205 (Apt was 1215) and there are three barbers (two guys and a girl who I am assuming is Veronica). She asks if I have an apt or walk in. I reply appt with Vanessa (forgot the name but close) she says Veronica and I said ya thats it. She tells me sign in, then says I have a barber available now or do u wanna wait for your appt? I figure eh whatevs the sooner the better so I offer up for the other guy (never got his name). Everyone was nice enough. He asks what I want and I tell him a #1 fade up to the part leaving just a little bit of length before the part to comb and then a little off the top. Confirming the look is a comb over. He starts with the sides back etc. finishes and shows me cool all looks good so far. Now im not barber so im just speaking from a lifetime experience of getting my hair cut but the other 1000 times ive had my hair cut the barber sprayed my longer hair with water to facilitate with the cutting. No water. Guy cuts my longer hair dry? Ok maybe they are doing things differently now? Though I was watching the other two barbers cut two kids hair which were wet Then as my experience again. When doing a comb over cut. The part is usually pretty important no?? Well no defining the part and not even any questioning about it. Then he finishes so I am waiting for the razor line up etc that THEY describe comes with their haircuts and nope nada nothing. At this point I was over the experience and just wanted to leave. I walked outta there with an unwanted "combination cut" mixed between what I walked in with ( an overgrown fauxhawk) and what I asked for (traditional comb over) Oh and no offer of a beer (again i didnt see beer anywhere so maybe they dont do it anymore but it still says it on their menu for haircuts so its reasonable I would expect it.) I cant tell you what was up with this barber but Obviously he appears to be uncertified and not very experienced. Which leads to the fact and slap in the face by the owner to schluff me off to him when I had made an appointment with her. Overall I just felt it came down to inexperience and poor communication. Sure I could have kept telling the guy hey what about this and that and yada yada yada but again these were basic things and things stated provided by their own description. Its not like I was asking for some crazy cut. Im not gonna sit there and tell someone how to do THEIR job Just another $25 pissed down the drain of dissatisfaction. Besides all that. Place was clean and kid friendly with a play room. Update as I got home: Wife: I thought you were getting your hair cut. Me:Exactly (let wife read the review) Wife: Ya thats nothing special and definitely not worth $25 Not trying to be an ass, just tellin it like it is. UPDATED 9/2/18: I changed the rating from 2 stars to 3 due to the owner Veronica emailing me personally and addressing the issue with the utmost courtesy and customer service. Veronica even refunded me the $25 without it being requested on my end. I commended her for her superior customer service and I will give her shop another chance when the time comes. This place already pised me off been in 3x for a haircut. And they are understaffed. Good luck of yoy dont have an appointment. Their was one day on the 2nd time coming in at 1pm that they tried to slot me in at 4:30 but forgot about appointment. I guess Im more old school about showing up to a barber shop. So I guess im mad because First time I came I had to come back to get my hair fixed. And the guy that cut my kids hair messed it up as well. I've came here a couple of times and this review is for my recent visit. 9/10/18 I booked an appointment on here @ 4 and when I arrived I sat down and waited for 5 minutes before being told that he needs to finish a customer and then I had one more before me.
