I could have spent HOURS in this shop, wandering around and looking at all of the beautiful things for sale. We were spending the night locally on a trip up the west coast, and our Airbnb host suggested Inkwell as a good place to purchase gifts. They were absolutely right. There were plenty of staff around; I received numerous offers of help, and the cashier who helped us was really nice and welcomed us to their town. The options for gifts were plentiful, with everything from purses to candles to preserves to clothing to dishes and fun kitchen gadgets. (The shop is attached to a furniture store that looked beautiful, but we didn't spend time there.) They also sold local postcards, greeting cards, and other Oregon-themed gifts. We purchased a beautiful blown-glass Christmas ornament for ourselves and numerous small gifts for my parents. The prices were what I would have expected -- not cheap, but the items were nice and well-made, and the prices felt fair for what we purchased. I highly recommend this shop. read more

Good Day Yelpies, From the outside, this place looks absolutely amazing--its long-standing history as an independently owned business is what drew my wife and me in for some furniture shopping. As many of you know, furniture is a long-term investment, and the shopping experience should come with attentive, knowledgeable staff who help guide you through that process. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. From the moment we walked in, we felt more observed than welcomed. One employee made eye contact and immediately turned away, and as we continued browsing--essentially left to "prospect" on our own--there was little effort to engage or assist us. On our way out, another staff member offered a brief hello but never followed up to ask if we needed help. When you're making a significant purchase like furniture, customer service matters just as much as the product. Sadly, this visit left us feeling overlooked rather than valued. We later found our couch at another location and will receive it in 30 to 60 days due to the customization we requested. Delightful surprises of all kinds awaited us when we wandered in on Sunday afternoon after enjoying brunch at Caves restaurant (recommended) down the block. This store is chock full of seasonal decor items for home or gifts, unique greeting cards, top quality candles and soaps and lotions, serious cook quality cutlery, cookware, small kitchen appliances, glassware (including some Riedel barware glasses i know to be great from owning them myself), table linens like placemats and napkins (in real cotton no less)..the list goes on. Upstairs you'll find bedroom furniture and to the side is a large home furnishings selection from sofas and chairs to dining sets. Staff, all young and I'm thinking also maybe OSU students, were really helpful in answering questions and ringing up my purchases. From them I learned this store had been at this location for 60'ish years, starting as a stationary goods store (I am old enough to remember that kind of store in the day) and transitioning over time to what it is now. That kind of longevity in a business is amazing these days. The space is well lit and curated to be welcoming and makes one want to linger and look around. The sound system mix helped with that for me on this day as it was tunes that would have been playing in my college years. It smells good too. ACCESSIBILTY: Everything was well laid out on the first floor and in the furniture store adjacent with lots of space in aisles for all shoppers to comfortably shop and also important to me on this trip as I was using a wheelchair to navigate, ADA compliant for equal access in spaces. Including even the store loo in the furniture section. Good for them. I didn't ask if there was an elevator to the bedroom furniture level. read more

Do not buy furniture from here. Bought a sofa for 3k+, expecting a quality piece. After 2 years, the seat cushion has sunk already, and the leather has stretched out, including on the footrest. I brought pictures and the receipt in. Not only did they not do anything for me, they gave number to call for me to contact the manufacture, who also cared less. read more

be forewarned! this place is dangerous and there's the potential to drop a wad of cash. one side is home furnishings with beautiful sofas and leather chairs alongside handcrafted side and dining tables. prices matched craftsmanship so i wouldn't say you will find anything cheap but if you're in the market for something that stands out and looks beautiful, i think most everyone would find something they'd like there. the other side is a mix of everything: gifts, cards, kitchenware, puzzles, small items, baby related, home goods. pricing on this side seemed fairly consistent but depending on budget, you could walk away with one or many things, for yourself or for others. in general, it's a great place to stroll through but would be a nightmare with small children since there's so much to pick up, knock over, break or be cajoled into buying. i could see where this would be a go to location in corvallis for gifts, for kitchen items or for whiling away a half an hour or more. my only recommendation would be to go in knowing what you need or want because without any specific intention, you could easily convince yourself you need items you come across. read more

To make a long story short, I stopped going to this store years ago. I found the customer service snobbish and poor. But I needed a gift yesterday, so I called them. A lady by the name of Randi, sent me pictures of the item I needed. I went to the store today, oh my gosh! I had forgotten how fun that store is. Randi was working and assisted me with my purchase. I bought a steak knife from Inkwell. Two weeks later, I was cutting soft cheese with it. Not a hard cheese, a soft cheese, I think it was muenster... and it broke! "That was weird," I thought, and I walked over to return it. The hostility I encountered was really bizarre, considering I walked in with a smile and expected to be treated like a human being. I said something to the effect of, "I bought this knife and was cutting cheese and it broke." The response was curt and sharp: "That's a steak knife, sir. It sounds like you used it for something it wasn't meant to do." I honestly thought she was joking. She wasn't. I explained what type of cheese, that nothing was forced, and that it probably just had a weak point and snapped. She insisted I abused the knife. I was taken aback. I asked for her name (Jessica), at which point the defense mechanism kicked in and she mocked me, saying to "go ahead and tell her manager." Really unprofessional. I ended up writing a letter with a request for a response, addressed to the Inkwell managers. I never got a response. I don't know why, and I won't assume, but I will say that since that happened, I haven't spent a dime there. I have since bought a couch, computer desk, knives... all from other local businesses. I bet not everyone will have the experience I had, but I thought it would be valuable to share with everyone. read more

Let me start by saying that I have shopped at the Inkwell for many years and have always had positive experiences....until now. My husband & I went in to look at furniture. We have a very definite idea of what we want, so we wondered around the store for quite a long time. We were never greeted by an employee. We found a catalogue that appeared to have a table pretty close to what we were looking for. At that time an employee approached us & we were informed that we should 'feel free' to take a brochure, but the store would be closing soon. He did answer a couple questions in an extremely vague fashion, but it was obvious that we were an imposition. Well -- I'm feeling a little like a wet blanket by saying this, but -- just okay. OK. I didn't find anyting I couldn't live without -- or even anything off the charts unusual. I'm not a big window shopper to begin with, but I do like to hunt for great and new ideas.... and I'm always drawn to creativity and originality. And that's what I was expecting here from their reputation. Maybe I came at a bad time. But there wasn't any furniture/furnishings that would even remotely go with my stuff --and our stuff is pretty eclectic. (Okay -- a lamp -- maybe. Have to think about it.) What I really wanted was something to put a plant on -- but nothing grabbed me. But the real problem was the mark-up. It's a big internet out there, and brick & mortar stores nave to be selling something pretty special -- or something at a great price -- just to compete. They have good stuff for somebody here. Great stuff. You can get almost everything you need here. Very helpful staff. My paring knives had disappeared. A lovely staff woman helped me pick out some new ones. They had good quality choices ranging from $7.99 to $50. Given that mine tend to disappear, I choose the cheap ones and still got some decent knives. She also helped me pick out a knife sharpener and a mandolin. She told me that they also do knife sharpening on site. read more

I purchased a set of 3 dish cloths. for $5.95. They were shades of blue. I used the darkest blue one first and to my horror, the dish water turned blue. I kept rinsing the cloth trying to stop the bleeding, but I was not successful. I tried to return the product, but was unable to do so because the product had been used! They kept telling me if I kept washing it, the bleeding would stop. I think any product that's used in water should carry a warning if the material is not color fast. And their receipt does not say unsatisfactory products will not be accepted if a customer uses it. It says returns must be within 30 days. Exceedingly poor service. I have been looking at Blackledge furniture for a sofa and they have been super helpful. My husband and I on a lark decided to walk into the ink well. We walked around the store a bit and left a notice that there were about four employees just standing there at the counter. Not one of them even said hello can I help you or anything like that. They also have gone above and beyond in helping me pick out items that would fit a particular space the best. They drove over a bunch of stuff to my office, let me see how it looked in our space and then I bought the items I liked the best. Wow! Totally different than what I thought! I had never been in this store, just driven by it and hadn't really been impressed by the image from the outside. But, I recently went in to buy a gift card for a friend and was totally blown away by the variety and quality of items that they had there. And the store inside is HUGE -- it just keeps going on and on for two floors! Prices looked a little high, but I would expect that from a local store. Extremely poor customer service. Walked around shopping with $500 giftcard to spend and not one employer approached or greeted us (there was a women unpacking merchandise right in front of us, and another doing inventory). I am extremely disappointed in my experience. Corvallis is a town of community, and we were treated very poorly. Management needs to address this issue and possibly train their employees, because after all it's customers that keep them in business. read more

My kind old mother with wispy white hair, a kind stare loves to buy all of her ornaments here. Every year, she comes here and buys the perfect one for her children and grandchildren. This year, she was not able to travel to see some of them, so she waited for the 50% off sale the day after Christmas to pick out some ornaments. It turns out if you wait for that sale, you will be denied the boxes they were shipped in and be required to pay 50 cents for packaging. How sleazy is that. I know it is just 50 cents, but come on, Inkwell, charging for the packaging merchandise comes in is just tacky. You may think you are a classy store, but you clearly have shown you will grab at every penny you can get your low brow fingers on. read more
